Kuno Krugner, checked to see if anyone was watching the age limit of the bar’s patrons (as well as attempting to remember if a “Legal Drinking Age Act” had ever been passed anyway).

The plucky, peacock faced, dopey-eyed ginger haired teenager walked slowly into the bar, wishing he had grown a beard or had had a much older girlfriend or something to pull this off as he walked to the counter.

“Um…a …. Beer?” Kuno said with an overly maculated deep voice to the Bartender,

The “Boss” probably wouldn’t mind if he took the mid-afternoon to get wasted, considering his employer, the “official” ambassador of Unibot, had been transformed into a six-foot Neanderthal who Krugner had just “put to the bed” like a five year old.

The ex-photocopy machinist / errands boy was not sure how to feel about his situation, on one hand he was now incredibly important considering he was the last surviving unibotian that had not be transformed into a cavemen – however on the other hand, his job was now considerably more demanding than a typical summer job, ex. Photocopying for a political diplomat…

Suddenly, Unibot was mentioned by a voice behind him, Kuno turned his head to see the telescreen depicting a reporter,

Unibot – a country brought to its knees yesterday in a devastating turn of events. Newly appointed, silver tongued Commander Zhildigo was caught in a political fiasco with a witch at the infamous Stranger’s Bar when things turned tragically bad for the country. The witch in anger, cursed the populace and its diplomat with a loss of knowledge and technology – putting it into a new dark age of extremity without compare.

Camera crews were sent to the land, and let us warn you, the footage may be considered graphic.

The screen turned to footage of a cursed Unibot, where millions of burly cavemen were running across a field chasing buffalo with sticks.

At this current time, land claimed by the mother country of Unibot has not been put under the curse, which leaves the considerably smaller populace and WA territory of Stash Kroh now thinking of independence – with the apparent devolution and collapse of its ruling leaders.

Kuno shook his head, he needed a drink now.

An elderly gentleman enters the bar, glancing around at all the patrons in the establishment. Presenting his card to the bar tender "Fearless Leader, Delegate Emeritus, Region of New York" he promptly orders "in the words of my quaint but exceptionally large and old nation, a 'Chivas Legal' straight up; yes that's a Chivas Regal, some people in my nation are not always perfect on proper spelling."
Image

Pulling up his blackberry he started scrolling while politely accepting the drink from the bartender. "Would you believe I was delegate for a whole day? Surprised me too! I mean nothing happens in New York and here we have two delegates elected back to back." Taking a sip of scotch he smiles, "Well at least I got a bar tab now, and no responsibility whatsoever. Life is good."

Secy. Moore walks into the Stranger's Bar.

"A grapefruit juice, if you please, sir," he says, slightly overpompously as he reacts to the new atmosphere.

Not only does he order a non-alchoholic drink he does so in a snooty manor... that's the way to win friends and influence. Nigel says... below his breath.

The good but slightly unwholesome Senator Sulla reaches into his jacket and pulls out a Fine Yeldan Cigar(tm) and fires it up. After a few minutes, a fragrant haze of bluish smoke wafts over the head of the good senator. He gives the delegate from Gnoria a truly ubnwholesome look and says,
"Are you sure you can handle the drink there, old bean. Its not to strong for you, I hope." Suddenly he gets up and walks over to Sec'y Moore with a more concerned look on his face. After giving the sec'y a good looking over he says with grave concern,
"Great googly moogly! You've just came over from the Festering Snakepit! You might need an inoculation!"
The good but unwholesome senator then yells over to the assistant barman, Jimmy,
"Jimmy, my Boy! Quick! Get the good delegate some Palentine Snakebite remedy! His life may depend on it! Hurry!"

A minute later Jimmy places a large mason jar filled with a clear liquid of some type in front of Sec'y Moore.

Ambassadors Richard York and Fiore Acquerello walked into the newly opened bar to a lively seen of familiar faces mingling. "Well, not a moment too soon." said Richard to Fiore, as the pair walked up to the bar counter.

"I'll have a Bourbon, please."

"A very dry Martini, Neville. Thank you."

Richard looked over his shoulder and saw several faces he had not seen in months. Carina, Knut, and Carolina of the Nord-Brutlandese Delegation. He walked over to them to say hello and catch up with things.

"A majority of the High Council having voted in favor, Susan Zafkoro is confirmed as a Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, or any successor institutions thereto."

That had been two weeks ago. Susan's job was to be the Goobergunchian WA delegation's Legislative Analyst. She had been one of the Unity Party's cleverest legal authors, weaving little provisions into lengthy statutes that ended up having surprisingly far-reaching effects. After the elections, the new Liberty government had come up with a new way to neutralize her abilities -- giving her a post that would look great on a resume but contained a lot less power than any role with the Low Council Budget Committee. Here, Lord Evif would be able to quash anything she did if necessary.

Of course, that assumed that Evif could be found. The veteran ambassador continued to serve primarily because nobody else wanted the job -- WA service didn't pay particularly well and involved interacting with a number of ill-tempered foreign ambassadors that the Liberal Unitary Republic hadn't had diplomatic relations with since well before the Great Shields went up. At least, that's what everybody said. Evif was well-renowned in many parts of the Goobergunchian government, even though nobody had seen him for a very long time. There were even some rumors that he had found a mysterious elixir that allowed him to live forever as long as he didn't leave the World Assembly headquarters.

Susan had already checked in for work at the Goobergunchian WA Embassy -- still called the "UN Embassy" under an archaic provision of Goobergunchian law. (She really should do something to fix that.) She had even run out to the WA floor to correct a few particularly bewilderingly drafted proposals being read for potential consideration. But nobody had seen Evif recently. "We see him on the floor to cast votes now and then," she had been told. "Try the bar?"

And so, Susan Zafkoro walked into the Strangers Bar. She was immediately taken aback by the diversity of the inhabitants; used to the more sedate atmosphere of a Goobergunch City establishment. Gulping, she stepped up to the bar.

"E-excuse me, bartender. Have you seen Michael Evif recently?"

"Ah, Lord Evif? He's right over there."

Neville pointed towards a man asleep on a well-worn sofa at the very back of the bar....

Bears Armed wrote:
Brutland and Norden wrote:So there she was, exhausted from the renovating and searching and crying. She half-walked half-stumbled to the first barstool she could find, and barked, "Give me a drink. Now."

Borrin o Redwood noticed this new arrival, and heaved a sigh of relief. Rising from the comfortable chair where he had been sitting in the corner with the widescreen television, at the table which his delegation had long-since established as "theirs" and that the people doing the refurbishment consequently hadn't dared to try re-arranging, he walked across towards the bar, and addressed Carina.
"Excuse me, madam ambassador," he said, "but aren't those" (here he paused briefly, and waved a paw in the direction of the twin moppets that were curently both curled-up asleep on a settee back in that corner...) "yours?"

Carina had barely picked up the drink recently passed to her when this big bear went towards her direction. She wanted to disregard him, but she knew this was an ambassador from some nation, so she as due to give him attention, no matter how she wanted to be left alone. She listened for a moment, hiding disinterest, and when the bear moved his paw to reveal what she had been looking for for the longest time..................

"Podere Manna di Dax!" She exclaimed loudly, "Mi stardu!" She got down form the barstool, nearly tripping in the process, and ran to the other side of the bar to her children. Her children awoke from the outburst. "Mama!" the toddler girl murmured excitedly and reached out to her. Carina knelt down in front of the couch where her children are, and scooped them up. "Mi Dax, gradece Dax, vosi s'savola." She then gave both them a big hug and kissed their heads. "Me s'c'he felicha." Tears were streaming down her cheeks, and for the first time in a long while, the tears were of joy, not of grief. "Me manzecce vosi... desdoce hoci te Mama riesco, caya?"

The toddler boy replied by lifting her blouse like he used to do when he was hungry. "You are hungry, my little boy?" She put down the twins on the couch, and then partially undressed to breastfeed her children. She moved her bra out of the way and positioned her child's mouth on her breasts. The boy suckled eagerly. It has been a long time...

----------

Knut and Carolina entered the bar. "Let's just hope Carina is here," Knut said somewhat exasperatedly. "I already lost my children, I'm not about to lose my wife."

As soon as they closed the door they noticed a woman on the far end of the bar. "Isn't that Boss?" Carolina said. They hurriedly walked up to her and they saw the children...

"Knut!" Carina beamed from behind her glistening eyes, "I'm just glad our children... are back."
Knut fought back tears and struggled to speak. He instead knelt down beside Carina and retrieved his daughter from the couch.
For a long time the two remained there, speechless, savoring the moment of being reunited with their children. Carolina just stood behind them, also overcome with emotion, extremely happy that her boss' children are alive and well... and found. But one question lingered in her mind. Now that the Ambassador's children are found, would the country pull out of the WA now? She has some personal questions to settle...

Cookesland wrote:Richard looked over his shoulder and saw several faces he had not seen in months. Carina, Knut, and Carolina of the Nord-Brutlandese Delegation. He walked over to them to say hello and catch up with things.

Carolina heard a familiar voice from behind. She turned around to see who it was and it was Richard! He can't see her looking like this! She hurriedly turned her back on him, wiping off her tears. What else can she fix? No, not her slightly unruly hair. Her makeup? There is no mirror, and he's here already! Hmph, as if the red eyes and blotted makeup could still be fixed... nevermind.

She turned around again to face Richard. "Hello," she greeted him, smiling. "Long time, no see, eh?"

Sir Albert stirs from his drunken slump on the floor and decides it's about time he put some serious WA debating in, just to keep up with delegates from other nations. He thinks about this for a while, listening to the debates happening and assessing the quality of discussions. Then he climbs back into the rattly uncomfortable chair, raises one beer stained leg and lets forth a fart of tremendous volume and varying pitch.

'there' thought Sir Albert, 'that's enough debating for a while, where's my pint....'

Fearless sat at the bar when a man in black entered and, after approaching him, handed him an envelope. "Thank you very much Boris," he said. "You may go now."

"Yes Fearless Leader," Boris replied. "Congratulations!" Boris left the room with a smile on his face. This was most unusual; he never had a smile on his face. Fearless opened the letter to find the official stationary of the World Assembly, a letter from the recently created Hethrum Community Region and a brand new corporate credit card.

Turning to the bartender he proclaimed, "Ye gads! Drafted again! I'm now the official delegate to the Hethrum Community. I wonder if this will last more than a day? Another Chivas Regal please!"

A woman dressed a little too warmly walks in, swinging a large duffel. "Hello, ah, I'm Elena Petrovna, the new representative from Zemnaya Svoboda.. I was told I could get some coffee here?" She stops in front of the bar and slowly puts down her duffel, while simultaneously unconsciously wiping her brow.

Her predecessors to the position of Democratically Elected WA Representatives never set foot in the bar, deeming it beneath them to spend money when there was money to be made. But, unlike those men who came before her, Alexia Papadakis knew that money had to flow both ways and not just into the pockets of the profiteer.

She had never stepped foot into the bar before, though she had heard of it. Her entourage had attempted to discourage her from spending money. After all, the Kronos in her pocket would be going to someone other than a Meekinos merchant; a purveyor of goods and services. She dismissed their stridently held beliefs that a Meekinosian should only spend Kronos in Meekinosian owned locations.

After breaking away from the traditionalists who had been sent with her, based on the legal requirements set out by the federal House of Commons, she found herself wandering through swaths of people drinking merrily without a care, as they tossed money every which way as if it were water.

She finally approached the bar. Sitting on a stool, she rested her arms on the counter and glanced around, seeking signs of a barkeep with whom to place her order for a shot of Ouzo.

-What a weird little neck of the woods this was. Antonius a new to these parts-- having spent most of his first few months as Ambassador on the World Assembly stage. Naturally, he was aware that fraternizing on a social level was equally beneficial, but really hadn't the time.

Until now, that is. And he was evidently startled by the expressive multi-culture his eyes couldn't help but land upon. It all seemed somehow harmonious though, and so he smiled. The first smile in a long while, at that.-

Here goes... -He muttered under his breath, and was about to move inside when somebody else, apparently in more of a hurry than himself, brushed past and on in. Whatever look Antonius may've gave, he found it convenient to walk through the door while it was still open and follow in the wake of dispersed patrons towards the bar... where, apparently, the other man had gone.-

Bit warm for coffee, don't you think? -He said, never resisting the urge to jump in on a conversation... even if he did just randomly walk up behind Elena Petrovka.- Why don't you let me buy you something iced instead?

-The tender, about now, was taking notice, so Antonius directed his gaze to capture the steadfast and patient man where he stood.- A Long Island Iced Tea, for me...

Wall to wall, and crammed in, like sardines would be an apt description.

Alexia sighed. What did a woman have to do to get a shot of Ouzo around here? She assertively slammed her fist on the counter. There was no time for diplomacy when there was competition. She turned her dark eyes to the barkeep that was fluttering frantically between many clientele. She waved at the barkeep. Once getting his attention, she spoke clearly. Her English wasn't perfect; it was saturated with a thick Greek accent - as Meekinos' official language was Greek. "Oy! You! Get me a shot of Ouzo, and don't give me any of that weak foreign crap!"

The barkeep appeared to say something, but it was indiscernible. It mattered not so long as she got her shot.

Sighing, she turned her stool around so she could see who was around; there was no time like the present to smooze with the big boys.

A man in a grey business suit and tie wondered in, he looked sslightly disshevelled with the top button undone, the tie loose around his neck at an awkward angle and his shirt slightly ruffled and untucked.

He made his way to the bar.

"Been,A long time, don't suppose you still have a can of Forhey's after all that's happened." He looked around taking everything in... "Looks better than the old UN Bar that got destroyed... I never understood why the entire UN did, oh, well. c'est la vie."
