Onward! Onward to place of food! MB signed madly, ears whirring like undersized helicopter blades. He sniffed curiously, wondering if there was anything being prepared. The chicks' mentioning of these "Waffle Os" intrigued him. Were they cereal creatures? Like Cheery Os? He liked cereal. Fun always in catching them, he answered Sophie's question. Always better to play first. Then eat. Eat then play bad.

He turned his head so his whiskers tickled the back of her hand.

Chrys shook her head, not minding Blossom's question. She seemed harmless enough, now, relatively.

"No, Hans has it," she chimed, giving the cultist a look of gratitude. "Just a spot of family trouble, is all. Thanks for asking, though."

She polished off the rest of her Dr Pepper. The salad was long gone, of course, and she had to hand it to the raptors. For carnivores, they didn't ununderstand vegetables!

Dora's shoulders relaxed and she let out a small sigh. The contact made her feel at peace for once. It was hard to keep up with the different beliefs and actions of so many people, but somehow Ogoti made it seem all too easy. Flexibility of spirit to match his changeable shape, perhaps, said the part of her that looked for patterns and tried to make things fit into neat boxes.

"I'd like that," she said just as easily, matching him pace for pace toward the raptors' house and the nearest table. "Dark sky, bright stars, sand, surf, wine, and a kindred spirit. There's nothing like it."

Luce turned so that the light caught the lenses of his glasses, obscuring his eyes.

"Humanity is what you make it," offered he, in his usual quiet manner. "This is just a package. Dora, too, she has changed from the way she originally looked. There will always be something different about you, and her, and so many others. But if you were willing, I'm sure I could find a way to persuade Chrys to shave you, make you look more human. Or humanoid at the least."

There might possibly have been a hint of mischief in Luce's expression, but it was fleeting if it was ever really there.

"Trust in Fate," he suggested finally, in response to Ray's trepidation about anything the raptors might have added or subtracted. "It appears you have already begun that step, anyway, as you are here at a party hosted by those very same insane scientists." He grinned. "And as for our toolset, if I understand your question correctly, that's something we only share with those who are, or are about to become, one of us. Perhaps, if you were willing, it would be possible."

They damn well better stop . . .

Rachelle's thoughts echoed her worries, hoping that the wall that the beasts would run into wouldn't be splattered with Wafflo remains. The spectacle of it would probably be freaking hilarious.

"What if they don't stop?!"

--

Seeing that Blossom wasn't visible at the moment, Toscha settled on Yoshi, and slithered over, already warmed by the heat emanating from the lights of the party. "Hey, you see a vampire anywhere?" He asked, approaching with a smile.

"Well so as long as I am back where I started, I guess it ain't too bad." He remarked with a smile.

Sapphire, who just got done ordering snacks for the kids, looked at Datus and then at... Catherine! She looked at Barox and asked. "I see that Catherine is here too? Dr. wanted you to bring her?" Barox nodded. "Well fair enough." She then took a knee and opened her arms. "C'mere Cathy. It's me, Sapphire, kitty?"

Catherine, who was hiding behind Wren, looked out from her side to see Sapphire. A smile lit on her face as she ran towards her screaming, "Kiiiiityyy!" The little girl would run and jump to give her a hug. She then looked up at her. "You're here! Smif's here.. That means mommy is here!"

Sapphire feeling a bit more heart broken at that comment, really didn't know what to say. She looked up at Barox, but he shrugged, then at Wren.

Wren was sympathetic to Sapphire's plight. She wasn't certain if the mother had been killed or was wounded somewhere. War was a terrible thing. She hadn't even had the chance to ask Barox if his own mother had survived. The young cyborg bowed her head.

"Barox, maybe we should give them a little space?" she softly suggested. Katherine needed the comfort that only a trusted adult could give. She was just an interloper who wouldn't be of much use to either Kathrine or Sapphire.

Barox nodded in agreement.

Sapphire began to look a bit worried, but still kept a small smile on her face. She then looked down and said to her, "Well, did Smith tell you were mommy was?"

Catherine nodded, "Yes, he said that mommy was busy helping cleaning up home, and when home is clean, we can go back to mommy!"

Inside, Sapphire was wanting to have an emotional breakdown and cry for the little girl. However, swallowing the grief from within, she said, "Yes...Yes that is true.."

Neil didn't flinch at the shock, he'd felt worse before. He waved goodbye to Levi and then turned his attention to the tiny Deader with a full sized sword. "The nation is my own, in another universe." he said.

The waffalos burst open the swinging doors into the robotized kitchen. However the great beasts skidded to a stop as they became trapped in a fenced-off area that kept the mechanical minions safe. "Yay! Cattle Drive a success!" Swift proclaimed.

Blossom nodded in understanding. Family troubles were not fun, though she doubted it was as bad as being chased a away with torches and pitchforks because you had morphed into a blood drinking night stalker. 'Well, if you ever need to vent I am always willing to listen." she said with a nod. She took a few more sips of her blood before deciding to change the subject to a more cheerful topic. "I love the island don't you? I mean, aside from the sun of course."

Yoshi looked up at the lamia slithering towards him and kept his face more or less hidden. "Y-you mean Miss Blossom? N-no I have not seen her Mr. Lamia." he said softly. Dang it Yoshi! he thought. Why do you have to be so shy!?! It's part of your nature I guess...shyogonai....

Rachelle quickly squealed and pulled hard on the reigns, hoping to get her own transportation to slow down in time to avoid smacking into something herself. She quickly dismounted, and pondered the herd of Waffalos they ended up capturing. "Well what shall we do with them now, guys?" She asked, trying to flip the freeze-ray around in her hand.

--

"Mr. Lamia, that's a new one." Toscha rolled his eyes, smiling brightly at the shy little Urranese man. He didn't know what Yoshi's problem was, but he seemed ready to jump out of his own skin. "What's got you so spooked?" He asked.

Yoshi stood up and bowed. "P-pardon my manners! I-I just am not good at meeting new people is all...I'm Yoshi, who might you be?" he asked. You managed to get your name out without breaking down. Great! he thought. The Lamia didn't seem to have harmful intentions so Yoshi calmed down a bit. Yoshi really needed to learn to be more comfortable in his own skin.

Finally, the pâtisserie and dessert were served by the mechanical crows. Mousse au chocolat, crème brûlée, mille-feuille, and the children's contribution of fresh waffalo in ice cream. Scarface escorted the children from the kitchen and made them sit back at the dining table in the backyard.

Arthur stood up and tapped his glass. "Now a toast, a drink, to the horror that we're in." he proclaimed with a wineglass in claw. "For the good guy and the bad guys." Gretta added as she stood. "For the monsters that I've been." Neil added. "Three cheers for tyranny!" NVE said in turn. "Unapologetic apathy!" Nevvie shouted, not wanting to be left out. "Because there is no way we're sorry for what we do. Thank you everyone that came to the party, and we hope to see you again." Neil finished. he motioned for Scarface to take the chicks inside as the raptor clan left the table and the guests to finish the desert.

As soon as they had gone inside, the house faded away. As mysteriously as Neil had arrived, he left. The table, chairs, and food were left behind. Under Chrys' glass was an envelope containing the test results he wanted. Ray had a similar envelope That instructed him not to open until Fortu ordered him. Jonathan was left wondering why they left, not sure of what was happening. But he knew that would not be the last time they would see them. Music played softly from a phonograph left on the table, a promise of return, and a crater in the sand that would be washed away.

Sophie hugged MB to her chest and watched the house vanish. Had it all been a dream? No, it was The Great Waffalo Roundup of 2013.

"Okay, bye!"

It was said to the raptors as well as her other friends standing in the former yard. The child, unable to locate her parents, crawled onto Hans' lap while still clutching her rabbit.

"It's a beautiful island," Hans replied to Blossom. He leaned forward to grab Sophie's leg and position her better. "The sun's nice but evening is better. Stars are unobstructed by light pollution. Silver sand and oh fuck no."

This last was directed to the twins. They'd parked themselves in front of Hans and wanted equal attention. He grumbled under his breath and sent them back to Swith only to discover that she was no longer in attendance. The cultist leader wasn't fooled. Krieger was never far from Sophie. He was fairly certain other, more fouler things were safeguarding the twins. He noted their somewhat forlorn shuffle towards the compound. They kept losing people; first their father and now their little raptor friends. Life wasn't fair.

He offered an apologetic shrug to Chrys. "I'm going to walk them home. Want to come with?"

Ogoti also noticed the twin's retreating backs and took stock of Charumati's disappearing routine. He softly sniffed the air; his eyebrow raised in question to her choice in guardians but he said nothing to Dora. They hadn't attended much of the party but they'd arrived in time for the end of the meal, the toast and the house's vanishing.

"I wonder what all that was about?" he mused. "Dora, did you know the raptors well? Is this something they do as habit?"

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

"So they're just disappearing? Strange..."

Torii wasn't so surprised, though; the raptors were strange beings. Now, dinner was over, but her sister was still talking, and so was Yoshi. If Gio and Yuna wanted to start their clubhouse, they could, but Torii was going ahead of them real quick. She didn't think anyone would really mind, anyway; she'd have time to think...

"Well, that was nice, but I'm goin'' home to work on a project, everyone. See ya later.", She said before leaving.

Once there, Torii found herself standing at the entrance to her hut. It seemed that her sister and Yoshi had been here, which made her feel at ease, not being the only one living in that hut.

It was nostalgic....every time. Torii still wasn't completely over Lidev, but she tended not to think about it. Besides, she had Tsu....well, not anymore.

"It's not fair.", Torii sighed. "She can't be here...I'll just play with Yuna and Giovenith...."

She started gathering things to put in her clubhouse: a few old chairs, an unused loveseat in the side room, some spare sheets to throw around, two lanterns, a small radio, and (for herself), snatching an old carton of cigarettes that the froxians left behind; she didn't understand what the appeal was, still, but maybe it would calm her like everyone said they did. Besides, she didn't particularly care about her health now anyways.

She spent several minutes dragging everything out back to the mouth of the bunker, and tossed the smokes in the loveseat, but didn't have much motivation beyond that.

"Eh....no fun by myself...I want a friend...maybe just check the beach....I'll get my guitar."

It wasn't like she needed to do that work anyway. It was a vacation...she was going to get her guitar, but stopped quickly to grab the radio, and then went back inside to get her six-string. After that, she was out on the beach.

"Naw, it's fine." Toscha grinned, just finally happy to be warm now.

. . . And then the party vanished, the house leaving a crater in the sand where it once stood proudly. "Dammit!" He shouted in vain, for the house was not returning. The cold, night air started creeping it's way back into Toscha's body, and he started to look nervous. "I'm Toscha, Mr. Human." He joked, not knowing that Yoshi wasn't really human though. Hell, they all looked the same, right?

--

Bran, simply humbled to be in the presence of his friends (And evil genius'), was already shedding tears as the Raptor's left their presence. Whether it was venturing into Neil's mind to save him from himself, or venturing up to a Moon prison to once again save them, he always knew he'd have loyal friends in them, wherever they were. There was of course, the share of bad times as well, but hell, all friends went through them. Bran had long since forgiven them for that. "Farewell, old friends." He whispered as the house vanished, Rachelle watching from atop his lap (Which she was getting way too big to be sitting on!)

Rylli too, was thinking the same things, and Natiya too.

Giovenith was more than a little confused at the disappearance of the raptors' house and household, spinning and tilting her head toward the now-empty space, momentarily entranced by how it faded like a state of consciousness on the brim of twilight. Which one, though? Awake, or asleep? Suddenly, she felt silly for trying to guess which... of course the raptors would never allow themselves to be that simple. They danced on the edge of that which was known, in their own way. It was a rather magical thing, despite that Giovenith knew they preferred science, the smart cookies... magic, science, it was all a talent. It took talent to the spin the world round in a way you wished, to make the glass half full and half empty, or to knit riddles that were only satisfying with no answer.

Pressing both hands to her mouth, Giovenith set a kiss down in them, then stretched out her arms theatrically to send it flying on the wind toward the spot the house had once been.

"Buh bye!" she called out without sorrow, stretching one hand to wave widely at the sky. "See you soon! Love you! Don't forget to come back home and play again!"

They wouldn't forget. She didn't know where they had gone, why, or how soon they'd be back, but that didn't matter. One of the most important lessons friendship taught you was how to say good-bye, to not feel heartbreak over the sunset... and to be confident that, like sunrises, there would always be another hello. Reminding herself of this with a deep breath, Giovenith folded her hands in front of her and began to walk off from the remains of the party. She wouldn't go home just yet; sunsets were just as lovely as sunrises, especially on a place as Eternal as an island beach. The land would assist in nurturing her reflections.

OP Tribute to NVE

Postby Cerillium » Sat Dec 14, 2013 7:22 pm

Ceril sat on a rocky outcrop and bid silent farewell to the raptors. They'd been part of this madness far longer than he. It had been his honor to track things over the years. He recalled the story of the day Neil (as NVE) first stepped into the building.

"Can I come in? I have cake!" NVE had shouted before affixing a large fake mustache to his snout. "Can sombody let me, a completely ordinary person, in? I lost my keys, not in a fire!" He just was about to move into this building because his last apartment building was vaporized by the small nuclear reactor he built.

Perhaps he would have been left out in the cold were it not for Dabfia. Dab (the normal Dab and not evil Dab) had let the velociraptor in and, after making Dab promise to not mention the initial offer of cake, the raptor had scampered off to steal a stranger's an occupied room in order to plot a means to own the first building thus forgo the necessity of rent payments. The most logical (for a raptor) conclusion was to build a nuclear device of some kind and use it somehow.

(*cue evil laugh*)

Sadly, the only thing NVE had available was what was available. He slipped into the basement, unfastened the heavy water heater and then ran afoul of Bones (whose room he had stolen.)

Flassshback!

Bones was staring out the window when he heard shouting. He looked down and saw a talking velociraptor knocking on the door. Dabfia let him in.

Interesting. This is something worth looking into... My, my, there's some interesting characters moving into here. He clasped his fingers together and smiled. Things will definitely be getting interesting around here... Excellent...

Bones watched the strange creature drag the water heater.

"You do realize you don't have a room, right?"

"Of course I have a perfectly legitimate room that exists. Otherwise I just stole a total stranger's room. I definately didn't not do that!" NVE replied. Of course, that is exactly what he did.

Bones wasn't convinced. "Suuurrreee... and what are you going to do when that stranger comes back and finds you in his room?"

"Ummmmm...I AM HIM! Don't you reconize me? I got a haircut and grew a mustashe!" NVE replied and pointed to the fake mustache.

"Riiigggghhhhtttt... what's your room number?"

"Ummmmm...Pi times R squared divided by zero!" NVE said hoping to confuse him. "I wasn't expecting some kind of Spanish Inquisition!" he added.

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. And that is my room, by the way."

"Oh really? Then prove it!" NVE said as he made a dash for the door and locked it behind him. Then NVE locked all the extra locks he added.

"You missed one," Bones said, pointing over NVE's shoulder. He turned around and walked into his bedroom, locking the door behind him.

"Dammit!" NVE cursed after discovering that he was now locked out.

"Fine! I'll just find another better room that doesn't smell bad! Crap, I left my suitcase in there!" he added. NVE didn't want Bones to touch his suitcase, he needed to get in there fast. NVE looked at the water heater. "BINGO!"

The velociraptor scampered outside and grabbed a car battery out of one of the parked vehicles on the street. He ran back in and wired it to the water heater, then smashed off all the safety devices with his wrench. He positioned the water heater in front of Bone's door.

"If it worked on Mythbusters, It'll work here." NVE muttered to himself.

Bones heard loud noises coming from outside his door. Looking outside, he saw that the dinosaur had positioned an improvised explosive right outside his door. Bones grabbed the water heater and dragged it inside, disconnecting it from the battery in the process. He locked the door again behind him.

"Dammit!" NVE had been thwarted.

His next course of action was to run to the hardware store where he 'legally purchased' some rope. He climbed onto the roof of the apartment building and tied down one end. With a firm grip on the other end, NVE jumped off the roof and smashed through the window of Bones' apartment.

"Ta Da!...I mean...Hand over my suitcase and nobody gets hurt!" NVE threatened and held out... his empty hands.

"Wait a second." NVE opened his suitcase and pulled out two Uzis.

"Much better," he said and closed his suitcase. "Now hand over my suitcase before I fill ya full of lead fiery death...something!" NVE threatened.

BUT......

The room was empty, save for the water heater, which had been hooked up to another battery. The suitcase was strapped to the bomb. There was a note on it:

Here's your suitcase.

"Dammit! Well at least I got my suitcase back..." NVE was interrupted by the water heater exploding.

The old cyborg's laugh was softly huffed breaths that escalated into thunderous laughter. Those were the days, my friend! Those were the best days: the salad days when everything was sparse and absolutely nothing was sacred.

He hadn't a glass to raise in toast to the raptors. He lifted his eyes to the heavens and named a constellation in NVE's honor instead.

It wasn't like she needed to do that work anyway. It was a vacation...she was going to get her guitar, but stopped quickly to grab the radio, and then went back inside to get her six-string. After that, she was out on the beach.

"Torii!"

Naomi waved at her. The godling was crouched near the Bonfire Pit. She'd convinced Ceril to drag out ice chests and his guitar earlier. Her hands worked quickly, striking matches until one finally caught the kindling underneath some logs. She rose and waved again, the fresh flames casting her knees and shins in a warm glow.

"Tor-eeeee! Come play!" she urged the girl. Bonefires weren't much fun with just a few people.

The fire became a beacon to any who wanted to socialize and frolic. Naomi waved a final time and darted across the sand to whisper into Cuisine's ear. He was the Bonefire Master and his gatherings were always delightful.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

"Eh?"

The girl didn't expect to be called over by Naomi; she couldn't recall that last time she had even seen the woman, but it wasn't a bad thing. A bonfire sounded fun, after all! Torii had been to a few as a kid, two with her father on cold October nights, and she had fond memories, listening to Folk music and roasting wenies on a stick, and swapping stories with an ocaissonal friend. She didn't want to miss out on that. "Okay, I'm comin', I'm comin'.", She said, sitting back up. She grabbed her guitar and radio and jogged over to the pit to get an early seat.

And it was around the time of the Bonfire that the Nikanor clan was drawn over to it, the group of 5 (Tolya being carried by his mother) took their seats on the exact same log as last year, when a younger Rachelle pranced around with the User, another friend long since gone. Last year's island made for great times, and kicking it off with a dinner farewell and a fire seemed like an even better way to kick this holiday season off. Bran smiled, and started conversing with Rylli about something or the other in the Branriechian dialect of Russian, Rachelle barely understanding any of it as she started watching the flames crackle and burst, expanding to the rest of the wood in the pit.

Some bright light in the distance attracted Giovenith's attention away from playfully tumbling and laying about on the beach like some lost little thing. The light in the darkness in a delightful place! Oh, that was a beautiful, classic touch.

The smallish teenager pounced back up to her feet and began to run over to the fire, before slowing down, and taking an amusement in creeping through shadows for as long as she could before allowing the flickering fire to spotlight her. Torii, the Nikanors, Mister Ceril, and she thought Naomi in the slightest distance, were already there.

"Smokey," she commented quietly, smiling contently down at the fire.

She watched the Nikanor family take their seats, and Torii smoked for them all. The girl sat, still in her swimsuit, cross-legged on a log, with her guitar propped on her thigh, which meant that she didn't have to wait for Gio to say what she did for her to pluck four strings in a country-style twang.

"I like smokey. Bonfires are awesome, really. Is this common for the island? I didn't move here until it was almost Christmas last year!"

"It was last time we were here..." said Giovenith as she crouched to poke the fire a bit with a nearby stick, eyes on the reds, yellows, and oranges. She held her cheek with one hand and smiled, dreamy with the nostalgia of her memories. The girl was leaning further and further back into a relaxed state here on the island, allowing herself to indulge in the simple happiness the place offered in many ways. "Pretty embers, too. They go wonderfully with the sky."

Wondering if perhaps she had something to roast in the fire, Giovenith knelt and began to empty a few things from her pockets. Yoyo, jacks, tiny balls...

"Yes, and it's been too long since we all did this."

Swith smiled at Torii and sat down next to her on the log to watch Giovenith's antics by the fire.

She'd changed into her tropical sarong from last year and had piled her hair loosely on top of her head. Thriller's gift hung from the fine chain around her neck. She was barefoot. And still pale. She hadn't been able to tan last year either.

Swith had stepped out of time to do some soul searching after putting the twins to bed. Her grief had touched down into what she once thought was a bottomless well. The bottom served as a boundary, and once she'd established that one existed, she was free to study her situation instead of flailing through emotional turmoil. She had found focus and demanded her rightful place in her matrix. She had accepted that she was no longer a soldier's wife... she was a warrior's widow. This gave her a new boundary. Her world began to take form again, becoming a shape instead of the inky nothingness that had before tried to bitterly to consume her.

Being on the island was difficult. It was here that she and Thriller first kissed. It was here where he came in and told her and Naomi about his visit with his father. It was here that he'd learned about the loss of her child, and here that he had laid beside her in bed to comfort her without expecting any sexual favor in return. It was here that she realized she was in love with him. Those memories, which had threatened to crush her that morning, were now another boundary that she could slam her fist against and claim as a defining shape.

Her eyes traveled to the girl beside her. It was here that Torii fell in love with Lidev. Was it any stretch of the imagination to assume that Torii might also be haunted by specters of loss and abandonment?

Swith slipped her arm around Torii's shoulders. "Girl, this place has good memories of good people."

She gazed into her eyes, appreciating the way the fire was reflected in them. "I'm sorry about Lidev," she said in sincerity, and then couldn't say any more.

Like a hiccup, Torii's heart skipped a beat and shot up into her throat. She didn't particularly expect anybody to say that to her, especially someone who she had little history with. It put her in a little more of a somber mood, and it was visible by her slouching slightly.

So much stuff here reminded her of that time, and, even if it was under worse circumstances, or if other people looked at it all as sick or bad, Torii loved it all. It really hurt her to be back on the island, and to never experience that again. She though of that time as the best time of her young life...

She didn't want to have a breakdown, or an awkward moment in front of the Nikanors, who she felt wouldn't understand it. She sat her guitar flat across her lap and smiled to Swith as best as she could.

"Thanks, Mrs. Swith. You knew Lidev, right? And I haven't seen you in a while. You were always around Mister Thriller, the cool alien guy?"

Hearing Miss Swith's voice, Giovenith turned her head to quietly observe the conversation between her and Torii (whilst in the middle of nomming a smuckers sandwich she had found in her pockets). At first delighted to see Miss Swith apparently feeling better from how she had been briefly described before by Ogoti, Giovenith's expression quickly changed to genuine, non-condescending pity for both her friends at the tune of heart-plucking in both their tones and suggested subject.

"Mmmm..." the girl squeaked to herself, in what was a smuckers-muffled 'awww,' turned back to the fire, kept her head down, and carefully bit into her sandwich. Poor Torii and Miss Swith... they were both so strong. Giovenith thought she could be strong too, but not in the same way the two of them were being strong now. That was a special and foreign thing, and she respected them both all the more for it. Thus, she preserved the silence for the two to exchange and heal.

... some pink string, a rubber band, a pencil with a funny fuzzy thing where the eraser should be, two broken crayons... both of them the same shade of purple... and a clump of gummy bears that had gotten stuck together. Last came a half-eaten bag of marshmallows and a Hershey bar.

The shy teenager brushed some strands of brown hair from her face and grinned at Giovenith. Myra was thrilled to see there weren't just snakemen and adults on the island.

"Mmmhmm, I knew Lidev. We battled like cats when we weren't being serious," Swith said warmly. "She was a good demon. I got along better with Mon and User, though."

She sighed and picked her legs up, crossing them on the log. "I'm afraid Mister Thriller died in war," she said, although there wasn't any bitterness in her voice for a change. "I've been wandering around lost, mostly because every place holds a memory of him. Being here is kinda rough. This place holds the best memories. It's just not the same without him. It's just not the same without Lidev, either. Know what, Torii? That's okay. We can't go back to what was. As much as I want to, I can't. So, here we are on the beach where our hearts first learned to flutter, and every last grain of sand is special because we walked on them in union with those we loved."

She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, silver locket. "Last year, the Monfroxes gave me a special gift. It was a fragment of each of the trio's personalities. It's selfish of me to keep it to myself, so I've taken those fragments and and made them just a little smaller, dividing them all up a bit more. I want you to have this locket so you'll always have a piece of Lidev with you no matter where you go in life. I know you don't really like supernatural stuff, but I can't think of any better way of honoring them then to share their gift with you."

The teen didn't know how to take the gift. She didn't even expect a gift, from anyone, and she always felt a little bad accepting gifts from others. Still, Swith's gift was wonderful; a little piece of all her old friends, some of the only people she could truly, 100% be herself around, without conforming to some attitude or conduct. That was special to her, and there was no way she could turn it down. The User and Mon were cool, and Torii liked them, but she carried herself on Lidev.

Restraining herself from outright diving for the locket, Torii reached for the small charm. "I, um..., Thanks. Thank you....um....for the locket. You know you didn't have to, right?"

"Hmmmm?" Giovenith tilted her head (smucker still in mouth) questioningly at the new, young face that had appeared before her. Her eyes flickered down to the miscellaneous objects on the ground, back up at the girl, back to the objects, then back at the girl again. Finally, she took the smucker from her mouth, swallowed her bite, and leaned a bit forward on her arms and shins.

"Are you a cotton candy angel?" she asked Myra genuinely with the mildest skepticism, the tone any child used when asking something.
