Winter 2013 Short Story Contest!

I'm the current host for this winter's Short Story contest. Rules are pretty simple, as per CM's previous story (slight modifications):

• Writing Deadline is January 15th (Subject to change)
• 6000 Word limit
• No fanfic, public domain characters are fine
• Mind the site rules
• The story must be original and for this contest only

We've got myself, Nazi Flower Power, and Valinon as the judges this time. The scoring rubric will be:

• Characters: /25
• Plot: /25
• Setting: /15
• Creativity: /15
• Style: /15
• Grammar and Spelling: /5
• Overall Score: /100

Also, if I want to write a story about an OC which is in a certain universe (the Carsverse to be exact, I regret nothing) is it fine as long as it doesn't involve any of the regular characters like McQueen and Dusty?

CM's old limit was 7500. I bumped it down to 6000. People rarely hit anywhere close to that number.
