The world has fallen, and the living have become prey for the dead. All across America, we have seen the disintegration and downfall of human dominance and society: social order crumbling, infrastructure failing, and the human psyche reverting to its natural state of survival. But is all hope lost? Some say that safety lies in Nebraska. Some, in Europe. Others say that there is no hope, and that there never will be, that all is gone, and they are the only left. Many "opted-out" in the first few weeks of the apocalypse, most succumbed to the hordes of infected, but a small few were able to survive. Now, they must weather this onslaught of the undead the best they can. People will die along the way, friendships and trusts will be broken, but in the end... will it be for the greater good?

Welcome to The Walking Dead RP OOC 2.0. I say "OOC 2.0" because this is not the original OOC thread. The original is located here. The RP has undergone some changes in management since it's inception: originally created and managed by Sentinel XV, the RP is now co-OP'd by myself, and Tiltjuice. This new OOC thread has been made to make organizing the RP slightly easier for ourselves, to make finding old information easier for the RPer's, and to make integrating easier for new RPer's.
This RP is based off of AMC's The Walking Dead. The zombies are A-typical of those you would see in the comics or on the show (though we will defer to the show if a conflict ever arises. None have, so far). The RP began with a small group of survivors based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. They inhabited the Federal Correctional Institute at Milan, Michigan, for a brief period of time before flying to an airstrip outside of Sparta, Tennessee. They now reside in a small military complex - 'the Compound' - nestled in the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area, a former national park roughly halfway between Nashville and Knoxville. Upon arriving in Tennessee, the Michigan group encountered another band of survivors - the Church of Stryker (though it is not a 'church' in any sense of the word), led by Richard Stryker - who have taken up residence in a small church nearby the airstrip that the Michigan group arrived at. Relations between the two groups are strained at best, and leaning towards outright hostility.
Now, we aren't looking for Mary-Sue's, or G.I. Joe's, or Delta Force operators, or Spetsnaz commanders, or any other kind of ubermensch character you can think up. The Walking Dead is about average people struggling and often failing, not only to survive, but to live in a world that is completely unlike the one they grew up in, and wholly indifferent to their plights. It's less about the action, and more about the interaction. Characters with substance are what we like to see, and to that end, creating a workable persona for your character should be the number one step in your creation process. On a related note, I strongly discourage creating a character that is a vehicle for your wish-fulfillment. It creates a plethora of problems later down the road, particularly when you end up at loggerheads with another RPer's character. RPer's that use these wish-fulfillment characters tend to take things personally, as a criticism of the character can be interpreted very easily as a criticism of the person upon whom the character was based. Please, nip it in the bud, and don't base your character off of yourself or your loved ones.
As well, applications for soldiers of any sort will be rejected. We have too many as it is. This may change in the future, but I foresee no such change on the horizon.

NOTE: I am re-reading all of the IC threads. Summaries of the Episodes will be posted as I complete them. Character lists will be edited as I read through the threads. Telling me that "so-and-so died at such-and-such a point" is not necessary or helpful. Same goes for telling me to add characters that are not on the lists yet. These things shall be corrected in good time. Thank you.
