The Danaan High Kingdom of the Resurgent Dream has always considered diplomatic relations to be the norm between states not actively engaged in hostilities. Therefore, any and all nations are welcome to establish embassies in the Resurgent Dream and to receive embassies from the Resurgent Dream under the following terms.
Your Embassy in the Resurgent Dream
Diplomatic Immunity: The Resurgent Dream recognizes diplomatic immunity for all diplomatic personnel. This does not include support and security staff. Diplomats are immune from personal liability under Danaan law. However, they represent their nations and their actions have diplomatic consequences. The Resurgent Dream reserves the right to withdraw diplomatic immunity with two weeks’ notice. The person concerned may use the two weeks to vacate Danaan territory and his or her home government may use it to replace the diplomat. In general, diplomatic immunity shall only be withdrawn in a case of a suspected felony.
Extraterritoriality: The Resurgent Dream recognizes extraterritoriality of embassies. The Resurgent Dream does not exercise jurisdiction over the physical territory of foreign embassies. Embassies must be reasonable in size in order to claim extraterritoriality. Extraterritoriality is revocable with two week’ notice. The use of embassy grounds to prepare for offensive military activity or for engaging in any activity directly threatening the physical safety or personal liberty of individual Danaan citizens shall constitute an act of provocation leading to the immediate revocation of extraterritoriality.
Location: Nations are free to purchase embassy space in and around Tarana. If a nation is unable or unwilling to purchase the space itself, they may contact the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and space will be obtained for them at cost.
Slavery: Slavery is not allowed even within your own embassy. It is not legally enforceable on Danaan soil and it is not possible to reach any embassy without flying over Danaan soil. If this is something your nation practices, you may still have an embassy. However, leave the slavery at home.
Danaan Embassies Abroad
Personnel: Danaan embassies are extensions of Danaan will and we reserve the sovereign right to determine who represents us before the world. Therefore, while we acknowledge the right of other nations to refuse to accept specific ambassadors, we do not establish embassies in nations which seek to impose religious, racial, class, or sexual restrictions upon our staff. We also do not fill out any form which asks for the political persuasion of the ambassador. Ambassadors represent national policy, not personal views.
Safety: While we have long given up on insisting on diplomatic immunity, we do insist on reasonable respect for diplomatic rights and personnel. There was a period in history when one or two nations embarrassed themselves frequently through the random and petty arrest of diplomats. We never dishonored ourselves by subjecting our diplomats to their jurisdiction nor will we do so with any similar nations which might arise.
