"Smoking employees are reminded that they must extinguish their cigarette before stepping into non-smoking areas. Smoked is only permitted in designating smoking areas."

Where are those designated areas?

"Smoking is only permitted in Quad 3."

Quad 3 is an inner courtyard accessible only by a security key. Only lab personnel and security personnel have those keys.

"Employees are reminded that secure areas are to remain secure. Unauthorized personnel are restricted from entering secure areas."

Duh. That's why the smokers don't have keys.

So where can the smokers go? Quad 3, of course!

"Lab personnel are reminded that unauthorized personnel are not to be granted access to secure areas. Please do not use your code key to grant unauthorized personnel access."

I couldn't make this shit up if I tried. So, whenever anyone wants a cigarette, they're required to only smoke in Quad 3. But, only lab workers with code keys can enter Quad 3. So, naturally, the smokers buzz us and we let them in, and who gets flack? We do. So that prompted this gem from Cer:

"Dear Facility Management,

Please identify all smoker employees and equip them with code keys to Quad 3. These employees are authorized to access this restricted area despite a lack of security level designation by virtue of the current smoking policy mandated by your department. Smokers are authorized to only smoke in Quad 3, and thus should be authorized to enter Quad 3."

Which gained the response: "Effective immediately, this is a non-smoking facility"

Which was replied to with: "Earnie [one of the CEOs], in regard to the new smoke-free facility policy, consider this a preamble to my resignation..."

And a half hour ago: "Effective immediately, non-clearance smokers must utilize the west end loading dock during their breaks. Lab employees who smoke will continue to use Quad 3."

It was distributed at 8:45 PM... office hours are long over. Someone rattled cages. ^5 for smoker's rights.

There's a "no perfume" policy which actually does make sense, but then the cost of health insurance was high so they decided to replace the junk food in the vending machines with healthy... and more expensive... alternatives. They took away my $0.50 Snickers and replaced it was a $1.25 Smart Ones type of bar.

same here. I don't bother wasting my money at school.... I haven't even really been eating lunch there, cause they really don't even have that good of food there.....and I usually only eat sandwiches, which is kind of a waste of money to get every day...*shrugs*


The school board for my school district seems really idiotic. They try to discourage kids from using electronics in school, when teaching us how to use them constructively would be much easier to do..... And you get an hour detention for being caught using anything electronic when not told you can by a teacher..... no warning, just instant punishment..... *sigh* They should be really teaching us more about how they work, instead of trying to ban them because kids are on it..... which doesn't really help....


At least its not the level of stupidity that seems to be in Congress now-a-days......

Oh... no, it's much worse.

They jacked up the price of our sodas from $0.75 to $2. Two friggen dollars for a soda?! So we discovered how to get the machine to dispense two for the price of one. Ah, clever lab rats, we are indeed! So what do they do? They replace all the sodas with bottled water. No one buys bottled water. The vending machine's next to a water fountain, so we just fill our cups with cold water there.

They replaced all the chips with microwavable popcorn. We don't have a microwave on that floor.

We use these.

and they ordered us these because they were cheaper.

It's almost as funny as buying all of us tablets and then cancelling the contract that provided the wifi to link them.

Followup, too... I'm paused with Urran because he didn't see my OOC Q. I can't respond if I don't know what country is listed on the passport, or what country the car is registered to, or what country the driver's license is from. Do the papers indicate tourists, seasonal workers, immigrants, etc?
