By order of the Politburo, a state of emergency has been declared. All residents are ordered to remain in their houses until further notice. A highly dangerous virus has been detected in the area of or region. This is not believed to be an act of aggression from any other member of the World Assembly or any other organization.

We ask residents to remain vigilant and watch out for any thing out of the ordinary.

In order to ensure maximum security, the National Reserve Force is being moved to Alert Phase. Also, martial law has been enacted within Soviet Party. The southern area of of nation has been put under a quarantine order due to numerous infections and also severe rioting and looting. The major cities infected by this include: South Fork, New Port, Joi-Tao-Zen and neighboring areas.

May our nation see the end of this tragedy and may the glorious Union of Aligned Soviet States and Soviet Party Prevail.

A different news anchor is in view as the camera focuses on her. She is a brunette, probably in her mid-to-late 20's. The desk has two small national flags on it, one one each end of the desk. She begins reading the news bulletin with much ferocity.

Good evening from the capitol of our glorious People's Republic of Soviet Party.

We begin our news hour with a story regarding the Soviet Party State News Agency. The government has began the acquisition of Soviet Party's largest newspaper and printing agency, Voxer Publishing House. The government had initially stepped in to help the struggling news paper company several years ago. Now, Voxer Publishing and the Executive Branch have nearly finished the deal to bring Voxer into the fold of the Soviet Party State News Agency.

Also, the glorious government of Soviet Party has begun to seize the holdings of Soviet Telephone, Telegraph and Internet Corporation after several large corruption scandals and multiple incidents of incorrect billing were discovered. An anonymous government official said that "STTIC was probably going to go under without any intervention by the government." When asked about pricing changes while the corporation is under government control, the official said that, "Right now, their ledgers are a complete mess. It will probably be weeks before we can ensure any prices."

Meanwhile in the capitol today, lawmakers still were debating about Assembly Bill 478. This bill, if passed, would begin building a monetary reserve for Soviet Party should the flow from taxes suddenly decrease. When asked about what is preventing the bill from being passed, Assembly Speaker and Majority Leader Haleigh Roctov said, " Right now, the bill could be passed. Some law makers just seem like they want to hold up the process before we send this bill to the next level." "Minority leader Mitch Tolvson voiced concerns over the bill's vague wording and potential for backfiring instead of doing what it was planned to do.

Attention. Attention. Attention. This is an EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM ACTIVATION. Effective immediately, the Commonwealth of Soviet Party is now at DEFCON 1. An incident has occurred near the outskirts of Niches. ALL CITIZENS ARE ORDERED TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES OR CURRENT LOCATION. All TV and Radio Stations will go to EMERGENCY BROADCAST MODE. Information will be passed along as it becomes available.

This message will repeat at 15 minutes before and after the hour.

Subject: Incident Near Niches and resulting implications

Several weeks ago, the Commonwealth of Soviet Party was put into a state of DEFCON 1. No details of the incident were given at the time. Now that the incident has come to a resolution, we are now sharing details of the incident.

At 1345 Soviet Party time, an initial explosion was reported to Niches Emergency Call Operators. In accordance with the Emergency Action Plan, the nation was immediately put into a state of emergency and all troops put to the highest state of readiness.

After multiple unrelated incidents were quelled, HASMAT teams were called in to asses the situation. It was determined that a small grain silo had been the point of origin. This grain silo also took neighboring gas tanks and posed a risk to the buried natural gas line. However, the gas line was shut off before anything negative could take place.

Damage reports are as follows:

Good morning. As we told you last night, the Justice Branch was beginning to investigate claims that some members of the upper levels of Soviet Party's government were involved in human trafficking. The Justice Branch said that they would updat..... We now go live to a press conference.

The video switches to a press conference room in the Justice Branch's building. Three men in suits walk in. They are: John Hoover, Justice Branch head; Frank Thomnson Head of the Major Case Squad, and Premier Joseph Stal-lennin. Hoover takes the podium.

HOOVER: As you know, we received allegations that several members of our Government are involved in human trafficking. We are making substantial progress and would like to give you the chance to ask some questions. Before we begin, we would like to re-iterate that we are still in the initial stages of the investigation. Now, your questions.

RIDE: Joy Ride, with the Niches Gazette. What exactly tipped you off to this "human trafficking ring?

HOOVER: Well, we received a tip on our anonymous tip line about four weeks ago. The caller divulged intimate knowledge of the group of individuals. We also received e-mails, from a dummy e-mail account, that gave us records of personnel involved.

RIDE: Do you know who the caller is.

HOOVER: Not at this time. Next question please.

MARZULO: Garry Marzulo, SPSNA. Why do you think people would engage in such activities, even when it is illegal?

HOOVER: While I cannot speak for the individuals involved, one of the more common motives is greed.

MARZULO: How far will this investigation go?

STAL-LENNIN: I have ordered the investigation to go as high as needed. No person is exempt from the scope of this investigation.

HONEYCUTTE: Hawkeye Honeycutte, News Globe. How long will this investigation take?

HOOVER: As long as is needed to find all involved. I am not going to rush this investigation just to meet a news cycle.

HONEYCUTTE: What about the rumors that many members of the House of Legislature have their own brothels with illegal workers that were supplied from this ring?

HOOVER: Like any other rumors, you should not trust them. We will try our best to keep the public and the media informed as the investigation progresses. That's all the questions for now, thank you.

The three gentlemen walk out of the room. The anchor comes back on, voice only at first.

ANCHOR: Well, there you have it. It has been confirmed that there is an investigation into human trafficking going. The premier promised that this investigation will be through and complete.

The following was overheard on KOWI 99.9 BLITZ NEWZ:

Ladies and gentlemen, I have been handed an urgent news bulletin. I have been told that the submarine SPS Seahawk has had an incident. The state news agency and the United Armed Forces of Soviet Party Headquarters are reporting that the submarine was preforming underwater trials after being retrofitted for the new SMART RANGED MISSILE launch platform. Two battleships, the SPS Titan and the SPS Mercury were keeping watch over the Seahawk and communicating with her crew. At 4:30 this evening, both ships lost contact with her. It is currently believed that the Seahawk and her crew have perished. Two National Sea Guard Ships have been deployed to the area and are currently searching for any evidence as to what happened. The state news agency has promised to release more details as they are revealed.

8:00 A.M. : Search crews have been briefed about today's schedule. The crews from last night are returning to the scene of the incident with 40 Black Beret Divers. United Armed Forces Headquarters has stated that if the crew or ship is not found by mid-day, the rescue mission will be turned into a salvage mission.

4:12 P.M. : Pieces of the submarine have been found. UAFH has declared all personnel and the Seahawk lost at sea. An accident investigation team has begun their investigation. The inquiry is expected to last some time. Salvage ships are attempting to find and retrieve any pieces that could help the accident investigation.

To the international community,

Today is a sad day for the people of the Commonwealth. Today, Jeanette Stal-lennin was found dead. It is believed that she died sometime around 1345 Niches Standardized Time. The autopsy has revealed that she had a heart condition, which was the cause of death. She was well known throughout the Commonwealth for her compassion for the poor and homeless. She also was known for ending the 17 hour filibuster in the House of Legislature when they were debating about creating a food stamp program.

She is survived by her husband (Joesph), her four children (Nastasha, Josephina, Rachel, Charles), and two grandchildren (Anastasia, Timothy).

She will lie in state at the Niches Convention Center on Thursday September 26th, 2013 beginning at 0800 and lasting until 23:00 the next day. The private services will be held on Saturday September 28th. The family requests that they be given room to grieve the loss of their loved one. She will be interned at the Soviet Party State Grave Yard.

In accordance with the Soviet Party Articles of Law, the Niches International Airport shall be closed to all air traffic from Midnight of the 26th until Midnight of the 29th.

NOTICE TO ALL CIVILIANS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL

By order of the Headquarters of the United Armed Forces of Soviet Party and the House of Legislature,

Let it be known that, the airspace directly above Niches, Soviet Party is, until further notice, restricted to military and emergency aircraft only.

Also, the Niches International Airport shall be closed to regular commercial traffic. Emergency stops will be permitted to land, but not allowed to stay.

Furthermore, all government offices will be closed tomorrow and the following day.

In addition, no civilians or unessential personnel shall be allowed within 10 miles (16.1 kilometers) of the Premier Compound.

Next, a defense condition (or DEFCON) level 3 shall be in place. National emergency preparedness plans should be ready for implementation.

Further noting, any paychecks that will come due within the next two weeks will be paid to the bearer.

Lastly, the House of Legislature will be releasing an official press release on the current status of the Commonwealth Soviet Party within the next few days.

To the People of the Commonwealth of Soviet Party,

I would like to start off with a thank you for your hospitality and understanding these past few months as I was adjusting into the role of Premier of this fine commonwealth. It has not been an easy process, but I believe we are ready to improve the nation even more.

This modification shall be a big one. This evening, I signed Executive Order 14. EO-14 effectively dissolves the House of Legislature. Now before you go riot in the streets, I wish to present the facts to you that caused this order to be created. First, I saw rampant corruption and bribery. No legislative body should ever be allowed to be so influenced. Secondly, the House of Legislature had turned into a lot of saber rattling, but no action.

EO-14 also temporarily increases the nation's Defense Condition, or DEFCON, to level 3. This is to ensure that national security is maintained during this period of transition.

Today, SPSNA announced a new evening programming lineup which would begin 2/1/2014. This programming lineup would include classic game shows like "JENGA!" and "Fill in the ____". Also, the main channel would bring back a game show that had long since been off the air. SPSNA also announced more channels would be added into the mix.

The news agency also announced that they would be updating their logos and letter head. They ask customers to report any place they see an old version of the logo once the new version has been released.

Hello. As many of you may know, our nation suffered a severe attack this past Friday. In short, this was an attempt on my life as well as those who help run our government.

The attack occurred as the motorcade with me and several other leaders passed by the headquarters of Super Box Company in Niches.

While I was slightly injured, I was not killed, as you can see. However, my Vice Premier, Franklyn Joseph Turnet, was killed by a fragment of the device which exploded at 14:02 Niches Standard Time.

After a period to gather intelligence and assess our national security, we have determined who was the planner of this attack.

The people who planned this attack hate us for defending those who were being oppressed.
The people who attacked us hate us for desiring to aid those in a time of need.
The people who harmed us hate us for standing in their way.

The people who attacked us are known as the Weot Separatist Movement. They have terrorized their homeland by attempting to attack their leader. These people attack innocent bystanders who do nothing but live in peace.

The separatists have weakened the government so much that it is unable to act. In fact, there is currently no leader in Weot.

Thus, the following events shall occur.

First, the House of Legislature will be recalled to active session. Those who held their seats before shall retake their seats in the House of Legislature.

Secondly, I call upon the United Armed Forces Command of the Commonwealth of Soviet Party to prepare for war.

Third, I call upon the people to aid us in our endeavors. Those who are able, help us to prevent other attacks upon our neighbors, our allies, and our enemies alike. Enlist in the armed forces.

Together, we can defeat this menace and bring a calmness to the world.

Notice

To all Soviet Party Embassies, Consulates, and Other Government Entities

Let it be known, this 18th of March, in the year of our Lord Two Thousand and Fourteen,

First, the Commonwealth no longer recognizes the Country of Weot as a sovereign country.

Second, all diplomats from the Commonwealth in contact with any person(s) in the former nation shall CEASE ALL CONTACT EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

Third, all current diplomats of the former nation within the boundaries of the Commonwealth or her respective Territories shall vacate with Commonwealth within 72 hours.

Fourth, all citizens of the former nation within the boundaries of the Commonwealth or her Territories are asked to leave the area they are in.

Fifth, any cargo or passenger ship flying the flag of the former nation shall not be permitted to dock within the boundaries of the Commonwealth or her Territories, excluding any grave emergency. Those currently in dock shall vacate their dock within 48 hours.

Sixth, any warship flying the flag of the former nation shall not be permitted to land in the Commonwealth or her territories. Any warship that attempt to dock will be treated as an act of aggression and will be met with force.

Seventh, from this date and until further notice, any person from the former nation of Weot that seeks asylum in Soviet Party will NOT be granted said asylum. Those seeking to defect will also be denied.

Eighth, any citizen that attempts to aid any person, origination, or entity within the former nation shall be held as an enemy of the state and will be given a trial.

Ninth, Travel to the Nation is prohibited. Only approved political missions will be allowed.

Further, we request our allies and those who the Commonwealth has an embassy with to aid in trade and political embargos with the former nation of Weot.

These items shall go into effect upon passage by the House of Legislature and Signing by the Premier.

Riot in Mappsburg claims seven lives
Two days ago, the National Freedom Party held their rally in Mappsburg. Highly upset and angry the National Separatist Party held their own impromptu rally. This second rally began to get disorderly after a few hours. Members of NSP began to flip cars and throw items into store fronts. Several fires were started. Eventually, the Riot Control section of the National Security Force was dispatched to return peace and order to the streets. While the rapid response of the RC unit was effective, they arrived too late to save seven victims. There were five adults and two children killed in this incident. Their names were being withheld at publication time to allow the families time to be notified.

When asked about the incident, Press Secretary Shannon Mills stated that the Premier denounced the Party and the actions of those who instigated a riot in Mappsburg. "Between the damage, the injuries and the loss of life, the National Separatist Party and those who instigated are criminals." The leadership of the NSP was not available for comment.

Children find major gold discovery in Southern Soviet Ocean
Two teenagers went scuba diving off the southern coast of Soviet Party yesterday. While they were diving, one of them saw something shiny on the bed of the sea floor and swam towards it. She found that it was gold and signaled for her friend to come join her. Once her dive partner came to her, they both began to dig near where the girl had found the coin. They found many more and quickly returned home to report the find.

Special Marine Divers combed the area and found an estimated 42 million WORPs in gold. Upon a historical search, it is believed that this is part of the treasure that was lost when rogue members of Pirate Yellow Eye's crew mutinied and threw an estimated 400 million into the ocean before they were killed.

In accordance with the National Treasure and Money Act, the children will receive 10% of the confirmed find's value, one it has been historically guaranteed. However, the law prevents the minors from drawing on the funds until they are 21.

Leap Frog Computer Virus "is overwhelming school systems"
Earlier in the week, the "Leap Frog" virus was detected by National Education System IT assistants. The virus takes image and video files and changes them to Jimmie the Frog from the Early Childhood development and education devices. It was detected hiding in the file system for the northern section of the national public school program. After the affected servers were isolated from the rest of the NES network, work began to remove "Jimmy" from the servers. However, every time the technicians attempted to delete Jimmy, he made copies of himself and "leapt" to two other places on the server. After using multiple tools and methods for removal, schools in the northern section were canceled to prevent teachers or students making the problem even more worse. Eventually, the technicians resorted to wiping the entire northern section's master servers. A Jimmie-free backup was rolled into place. While the technicians had been searching for a backup copy to use, they found a backup that had been written over with a note that asked, "Did I rustle your Jimmies?"

The Bureau of Justice immediately dispatched investigators to inspect the servers with Jimmie still on them. These servers remain disconnected from the rest of the network. The director of the bureau said that they will be treating this incident as a criminal act and will not tolerate this type of crime.

The Mappsburg Daily Horn received a letter from someone who claimed to be the perpetrator. The letter had a picture above a small amount of text. Pictured was an image of Jimmy the Frog next to a gorilla. Below the picture, the message yet again asked, "Did I rustle your Jimmies?" The Bureau of Justice seized the letter and is currently investigating the origin of the letter.

NES IT employees have taken measures to prevent "Leap Frog" from returning and have also alerted private school districts to look out for Jimmie. Franklyn J. Nortman Private district reported that they had found Jimmie a few months before, but had succeeded in deleting Jimmie on the first try. When the Bureau of Justice looked at the copies of Jimmie, they found that the version that plagued the NES was a newer, bigger version than the one that had attacked Nortman Private.
