That's not the "scientific consensus" I encountered in any of my biology/evolution/microbiology/anatomy/physiology/rheumatology/ courses. Who are you to speak definitively on scientific consensus? Are you in the field? The reality is there is no consensus as there is no evidence one way or another, there can be no scientific opinion on the matter.

Yes there is. "There is no evidence to suggest this is necessary" is a consensus.

I happen to agree with the theory of evolution, and I don't believe in creationism

Why do we bother attempting to find out where we came from?
Unless you invent a time machine and follow EVERY POSSIBLE SPECIES that could have made us we will never know! So, again, it is pointless to debate.
For all we know we sprung out of a hole in the ground or just grew from a corn plant, I don't know.
