The Commoner Foreign Legion [MT-Open]

The Empire of Common Territories is a vast and continuously expanding nation. In the last decade alone, several colonies have been integrated into the Empire, increasing its already large population by hundreds of millions of new souls. Furthermore, new colonies also increase territorial holdings in need of safeguarding. As such, the Empire's necessity for more soldiers to protect the fatherland has only grown greater. Money, weapons, and supplies are all objects that can be crafted, but manpower must be recruited and then nurtured. Due to the Empire's already expansive immigration backlog, as well as the armed forces' ever increasing requirement for manpower, it is with enthusiasm and excitement that the Armed Forces Ministry authorized the creation of the Commoner Foreign Legion!

This new policy is a direct result of the passing of the "Foreign Legion Act 2013," allowing the Armed Forces Ministry to begin recruiting foreign nationals, Commonwealth citizens, and specialists within the Armed Forces itself for sole creation of Foreign Legionnaire units. In exchange for military service of at least one contracted term (four years), recruits are rewarded with full citizenship for themselves and immediate family, full military benefits including free healthcare and integration assistance (financial assistance, home searching, and acquiring an education and work) once their term has ended. But not just anyone can become a Legionnaire. Only the best applicants can qualify for training, and the best recruits surviving the Commoner Legionary Training Program. Requirements are as followed:

  • Applicants must be male (gender dysphoric persons and females may not apply).
  • You must be between the ages of eighteen and forty to apply.
  • Applicants must be physically fit for training; this includes the ability to run eight kilometers in thirty minutes, do fifty push-ups and sixty sit-ups in twenty minutes each, have no worse than 20/70 eyesight, be able to lift eighty kilograms of weight over your shoulders and march long-term with full kit (around forty-five kilograms). Applicants must pass medical checkups as well.
  • Not be listed under any government watchlist, including intelligence related watchlists, the Ministry of Justice's terrorist watchlist, or have an active immigration ban.
  • Continuing on the previously mentioned requirement, applicants must pass a thorough background check and initial security interviews before being accepted into the program. Applicants may be required to present documentation and answer personal questions.
  • Applicants must speak either English or German. If applicants lack either, English will be taught during or after training.
  • Valid identification (with photo) is required for both security and identification purposes. Passports are preferred but ID cards are also accepted.
  • Finally, applicants must not have a criminal record in the Empire, its Commonwealths, or its colonies.

Why Join the Commoner Foreign Legion?

The Commoner Foreign Legion takes its place among other elite military branches and units found in the Union of Special Forces. Volunteers joining the Foreign Legion display great courage for seeking adventure, but more importantly, they earn the deepest respect from the Empire they intend to serve. Maybe you committed a crime back home and need a new start, or you're stuck behind a waiting list to immigrate into the Empire and need a faster solution, or maybe you're just interested in military service and TECT presents a favorable scenario for you. Regardless of your reasons, the Foreign Legion is an answer for most men seeking the thrills of war or the calming peace of a new home. Recruits are taught four main principles when they arrive for for training: Strength, Honor, Integrity, and Loyalty. Strength because soldiers of the Empire must thrive in war and excel in workplaces; Honor because all warfighters are duty-bound volunteers who've pledged to uphold their oaths on and off the battlefield; Integrity because faltering to our adversaries - man or situation - will never be acceptable; and Loyalty because there is no greater service than that of service in the Empire's armed forces at the pleasure of His Majesty the Emperor.

Service to the Empire isn't a selfless sacrificial creed. His Majesty and his Empire rewards its warfighters generously. For their time on and off the battlefield, Legionnaires receive benefits that will help them prosper long after their service has ended. These benefits include:

  • Full citizenship for recruits and their immediate family; temporary status until their first contract is up.
  • Starting pay begins at Sergeant's annual pay grade, increasing per-grade from there.
  • Bonus pay for special forces status and theater related operations (including combat bonuses and special operations bonuses) for Legionnaires.
  • Free healthcare for the Legionnaire and their immediate family (family healthcare is covered at a deducted rate until first contract is completed).
  • Financial and Ministry assistance with the following: Schooling, property purchasing (housing and business), business ventures, work related assistance (such as finding a job after service), and personal advisory assistance (such as financial loans and integration assistance).
  • Insurance coverage during and after service; including financial plans for property, life, and businesses.
  • Lifelong ceremonial duties with benefits.

Interested?

OCC: Please, if you're planning on signing up a person or people, please use the applications; they are needed for information keeping purposes. Also, only enlist by applying a person, a group of people (non-military personnel range unlimited), and volunteering/handing over military units. Please note that military units and civilians cannot act as spies or other intelligence agents; this message is just in case for certain people out there, I know not everyone is like this. These units will also be permanently under my control IC and OOC since they are joining my nation (unless stated otherwise by the applying RL person or myself). Upon hitting their service contract end, they will be relieved of duty or resigned; if your wish for your characters back, feel free to TG me about it - if they're no longer listed, feel free to reclaim them.
The process to become a recruit and then a Legionnaire is a road paved in both blood and sweat. A Legionnaire is an elite warrior forged in hellish training and molded through principled experience. Recruits must endure weeks of training that will challenge them both physically and mentally, testing their resolve and spirit. Selection in the end comes down to an applicant's qualifications and clearance of requirements. Most applicants will be cut before even arriving for orientation, because being the best is an uncommon trait. Becoming some of the best warriors in TECT is a hurdle most will be unable to achieve. Recruits will be tested like never before to become Legionnaires.

Applicants interested must apply via mail or online, submitting government forms as well as their information to Armed Forces Ministry authorities; this process is followed by weeks of reviewing and investigations to determine authenticity. Applicants who qualify for training will be flown to TECT's Jackson State, the Commoner Foreign Legion's Central Command location as well as the location of several training facilities used by the Foreign Legion's training unit. From there applicants will go through an intensive screening process that will last exactly one week. This process is referred to as "Reception." Reception includes additional an security screening, motivation determination, a full medical evaluation (including psychological evaluations), interviews detailing the four year enlistment contract, and finalizing their enlistment contract. Once Reception is complete, applicants enter "Orientation" and are medically conditioned, undergo their final motivation determination meeting, and finally go through several security interviews. Applicants sign their contracts at the end of Orientation and are moved into their training barracks as recruits.

Once recruits enter their training unit, their unit begins training the following day in the Commoner Legionary Training Program. "CLTP" is an extensive set of military schools designed to sculpt recruits into elite warfighters versed in light infantry, light vehicle, and light artillery warfare; the Imperion Coalition's Foreign Legionnaire Program is based on CLPT to the point that Imperion and Commoner facilities are often shared. Recruits first undergo "Fitness School" for physical enhancement and introduction into their new military lifestyle. Fitness School is eight weeks long and ends after a three day one hundred and twenty kilometer march in full kit; by this point recruits must pass a fifty kilometer two day march in full kit and still pass their initial physical fitness requirements. Next recruits move on to "Technical Combat School" to hone weapon accuracy/familiarization, master hand-to-hand combat, and lastly, practice Legionnaire tactics and strategies that are taught both on and off the battlefield. "Equipment & Light Vehicle School" comes next for recruits. Recruits are educated, practiced, and then tested on operating light vehicles, familiarity with heavy equipment that's in their unit's standard loadouts, and lastly, recruits will become intimate with light artillery pieces their artillery units will utilize in the near future. Next, recruits will endure three weeks of "Mountain, Marine, and Airborne School" (MMA Training). One week is spent educating recruits on all three theaters using both classroom and in-field training; if the class fails in one theater, they must repeat the week's training until there are no further failures within the class (whether this is because all pass or the failures drop out). The final school, "Legionnaire Tradition and Ceremonial School," are two weeks of mostly classroom education concerning dress uniform duties and traditional upkeeping Legionnaires will have to maintain for the rest of their careers; recruits are typically referred to as Legionnaires at this point in training and are cared for more personally by trainers. "LTCS" includes dress uniform attire familiarization and etiquette, formation maneuvers (including marching), and classroom lessons on Foreign Legionnaire history and traditions. Recruits graduate after LTCS and are welcomed into the Empire on a day of celebration marked by their class' march in the capital in dress uniform (several kilometers in downtown), where they are honored for graduating. Legionnaires are then put on R&R for up to two weeks as their class or individuals in their class are assigned to existing units, or are deployed to form a brand-new unit.

The Commoner Foreign Legion

The Commoner Foreign Legion (CFL) is a special forces service branch serving under the Union of The Empire's Special Forces' Ground Operations Command. Commoner Foreign Legionnaires are an elite light infantry branch organized into Companies that're solidified into Battalions; Battalions are often combined into Regiments as their capped unit size, but in rare circumstances can be formed into Divisions during wartime. Currently, General Thorsten Weissmuller is the commanding TECT officer in charge of all CFL related matters. Ottokar Wruck (Celisia) serves as a Brigadier General & Sub-Commander to General Weissmuller and Fujikawa Juro of Nihon serves as the Imperial Sergeant Major of the Commoner Foreign Legion. The Commoner Foreign Legion is currently made up of two large recruitment blocks, colonials/Commonwealth volunteers (namely from New Celisa) and donated military volunteers from foreign nations; they are followed by foreign volunteers, organized foreign volunteer groups, and Commoner command staff. As a special warfare service branch, Legionnaires bring expert light infantry forces into a multitude of harsh theaters where their use of light infantry, light vehicles, and light mobile artillery make them brutally efficient. It is this reason alone why Legionnaire units are among the most vetted force projection units in the TECT Armed Forces.

The Commoner Foreign Legion's Oath & Code of Honor

"I am a Foreign Legionnaire. I am unlike other foreign legionnaires because I belong to TECT and His/Her Royal Imperial Majesty the Emperor/Empress. I am also unlike other Commoner soldiers - I was not born Commoner nor am I necessarily colonial. I am foreign born yet I am no mere immigrant. My Commoner blood comes not from my parents but rather my service - I was once foreign, but no longer am. I am a Commoner Foreign Legionnaire - I am no immigrant. Unlike other foreign legionnaires, I protect the the Empire, its Emperor/Empress, and the people that call the Fatherland home. I was forged into a Commoner through training, side-by-side my brothers in arms in the Commoner Foreign Legion. My Strength was honed alongside my peers for service to the Empire. My Honor molded from months of training I endured. My Integrity is strong - Commoner strong - which goes untainted to this day. My Loyalty is limitless in service to my Empire and its Emperor. My Legion is guided by my superiors which are placed above myself and my brothers who serve beside me. Our trust in each other is what makes us Strong, Honorable, Loyal, and with utmost Integrity. I wield these tools in service alongside my brothers for the Commoner Foreign Legion, the Empire, and its Emperor.

I hereby pledge my undying loyalty to my new Empire, my new Emperor, and my new brothers in the Commoner Foreign Legion. I bestow my strength to my comrades, as we strive to enrich our futures through service. My Honor demands that I show my new country, my new culture, and my new Legion the respect it deserves. My Integrity will stand unmovable as the mountains of TECT, never bowing to our adversaries. My Loyalty, which shall never quiver, will always be for my new Empire, my new Emperor, and my new Legionnaire brothers. Finally, I will lay down my life until my Strength is no more if it means my oath is met. So help me God."

Dear 1st Congressional Legion,

Thank you for applying your unit to become part of the Commoner Foreign Legion. Your service will be much appreciated as you are both signing up to become members of the TECT Armed Forces and a member of TECT society. Know that your unit will be greatly appreciated by citizens of TECT for selflessly joining the cause to protect them and serve them in service to their and now your country. Your application has been accepted, congratulations!

As to your concerns. The TECT government, including the military, has a policy of separating church and state. Therefore, your religious practices will in no way be discriminated upon. We accept all religious practices as long as they do not interfere with military roles/services. Since your unit is large enough, it will in fact have its own barracks and mess hall included so there will be no worry to such a thing. But know that you will not be entirely separated from your fellow brothers in the Legion and to remain nude in your barracks and private mess hall. Thank you again for signing up for this honor and thank you for doing a service to your new country that you can call home.

With this confirmation letter you should have received further information to follow. As instructed further in your packet, you will flown out to Becker, Jackson State to fulfill your initial duties as a recruit (all paid by the government) -- medical check ups, screenings, tests, and then finally basic training. Know that this is a new start for you all and it will be a tough road paved in tough discipline, hard work, and integrity. You will all come out as new and better men in the end of your service as both a proud TECT citizen and a better human being altogether. We congratulate you on your choice once more and wish you all luck in the future.

Sincerely,
Commoner Foreign Legion of TECT

With this confirmation letter you should have received further information to follow. As instructed further in your packet, you will be flown out to Becker, Jackson State to fulfill your initial duties as a recruit (all paid of course by the government) -- medical check ups, screenings, tests, and then finally basic training. Know that this is a new start for you and it will be a tough road paved in tough discipline, hard work, and especially teamwork. You will come out a new and better man in the end of your service as both a proud TECT citizen and a better human being altogether. We congratulate you on your choice once more and wish you luck in the future. As to your inquire, no. You are not permitted to use private firearms, assault rifles or not. We emphasize in unity as a brotherhood and having your own private main weapon will interfere with this. It is also against standing policy to replace your main weapon and goes against the standard issued weapon policy; you along with your comrades will be given the same weapons to use. We do however allow private hand-to-hand weapons which can be registered and used as long as it does not interfere with dress uniform or combat capabilities. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Commoner Foreign Legion of TECT

Name of unit or organization (if applicable, if not use "N/A"): 182nd "Leaping Tigers" Infantry Regiment
Country of Origin: Democratic Republic of Matuphumi
Copy of proof of your Identities (Passports, government licenses, etc.)?: Passports.
How many in your enlisting?: 2,000
Are you all of age?: Yes.
Language(s): Matu (South Indochinese Language very close to Thai and Lao), Few know English or German.
Military records combined (military branch, what you did, what you operated, ranks, etc.)?: Honour, Duty, and Tradition. This is the motto of the 182nd Infantry Regiment, nicknamed the Leaping Tigers. First formed in 1943 as a guerrilla force fighting against the Japanese in World War II, the Leaping Tigers have been known throughout Matuphumi for the past 70 years for their Ferocity and their Fanatic Devotion to their country. A Leaping Tiger is the most devoted and fierce soldier a Commander could ask for, with such dedication to the mission that even the Japanese were impressed and somewhat afraid of their fanaticism. Combined with the best training Matuphumi can give them, they liberated Matuphumi from Japanese control almost by themselves by blowing up Japanese Supply convoys and sabotaging communications and vehicles. In the present, they are mostly used for anti-insurgent duties on occasional dissidents in the countryside. The Modern Leaping Tigers are trained in the same guerilla warfare methods as the old, and are just as efficient, ruthless, and deadly.
Your unit must be available/serving 5yrs initially unless granted early discharge. Can this be done? (mandatory requirement upon signing up): yes.
Brief description of military unit (not mandatory): Explained above.
Any concerns/questions (anything else you wish to include)?:
