Abortion: I strongly believe in the mother's right to choose.
Affirmative Action: It's a good idea for any unequal society to try and address inequalities where they exist. This includes giving priority to members of disadvantaged groups in job interviews, higher education placements, etc, provided they are at least roughly equal in terms of ability to other, more privileged candidates.
Aid (International): Important. It helps to build ties with poorer nations and individuals within those nations and can give us a great degree of soft power and international influence.
Arms Trade: The global arms trade should be strictly regulated, with supplies of arms to "rogue states" and dangerous individuals being curbed.
Death Penalty: I'm against the death penalty in all circumstances.
Drones: The logical (and sensible) progression of warfare, but not without huge dangers. The idea of drone strikes against civilians deemed "dangerous" by the state make me incredibly uncomfortable in much the same way as assassins on the ground would do.
Drugs: Most drugs should be either legalised or decriminalised. Education on drugs and their effects on physical and mental health should continue from a young age in schools, and it should be an honest education rather than just scaremongering. Addiction should be recognised and treated as a medical issue, not criminalised.
Economic System: Ultimately, I see myself as a socialist. I support economic democracy.
Education: A good education starts at home and in society. The educations system can't be properly addressed until society recognises that education - for its own sake as well as well for potential financial gain - is important.

Environmentalism: Necessary. We're the keepers of this Earth for future generations - it's our responsibility to manage what we have sustainably, or to invest in technologies that will allow us to do so in the future.

Social Security (Welfare): I'm opposed to welfare, and yet in favour of it. In an ideal world, all people would be seen to own the means of production and would be able to draw from it where necessary. As it stands, some people own the means of production and everybody else has to work to sustain themselves. Those who cannot work, for any reason against their will, should be provided for by the rest of society. In the long run, however, I'd like to move towards a society where there is no welfare as it has become obsolete.
The UN: A vital forum to bring nations together and to settle disputes peacefully, but hamstrung by a lack of power and lacking in real accountability.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: Superior for a host of health and environmental reasons - but I like my meat just a little too much I'm afraid.

Affirmative Action: While of course utterly ideologically opposed to the practice and believing that it should not be enforced by the government, I still have to acknowledge that it can be an useful tool to fix certain issues within the society. Affirmative Action: Can't tell how much it helps, but it definitely doesn't hurt. I'm not convinced of its effectiveness, statistically, but I don't believe it is directly harmful.
Aid (International): Pro, but carefully operated to avoid funneling money straight to warlords or churches.
Arms Trade: Opposed, but pragmatic about it. Should be regulated more heavily.
Death Penalty: Completely opposed.
Drones: Reconnaissance - so-so. Armed strikes - no.
Drugs: Decriminalize, and provide more safe spaces and treatment to addicts.
Economic System: As earlier, social democrat relative to Europe, pretty socialist relative to US.

Education: Should be entirely public. We have to come to terms with the fact that US tertiary education basically milks the country's future for what it has, and gives it to banks. It leaves families and individuals in debt for many years, and funnels the money away from anywhere where it might do some good.
Electoral College in USA Elections - Good? Bad? Needs reforming?: It looks broken, and a popular vote might fix some issues, but that's not even close to what is wrong with US elections. The campaign spending is insane, and the current system doesn't really allow for proportional representation or more than two parties.
Environmentalism: Stricter regulation.
Euthanasia: All for freedom of choice, but only with a lot of counseling and help to ensure people don't needlessly die from a treatable depression.
Evolution or Creation (or both)?: I'm with Dawkins and PZ Myers. Faith has no place in a scientific world-view. For fuck's sake, it's going on half a century since we landed on the fucking MOON. Is this still a thing we need to be debating? Can we get back to interesting controversies now?
Gay Marriage: Yeah, ffs, this is 2013, not 1953.
Gun Control: Increase the regulation; then, when the loopholes for undocumented sales are closed, gradually outlaw them. I have zero sympathies for any gun enthusiasts. As far as I am concerned, stockpiling weapons represents a defection from modern civilization.

Iran: Contra. (see what I did there?) But basically, the Middle East is f-ed up. Wherever you look, you have a populist theocratic movement fighting a dictatorial regime with the population caught in the middle. The popular uprisings look good in the media, but they're not going to lead to a real (ie. secular) democracy. I don't have a good idea there; everything the western countries have done has just ended up making it worse.
Israel/Palestine: See above, especially the last bit.
LGBTQ Rights: As in human rights. Pro.

Political Party Affiliation: Registered Pirate Bitterly disappointed in populist movements and fed up with parties in general. Not a crotchety conservative yet, but I'll take Merkel and Macron over some populist firebrand any day.
President Obama/American Policies: I like that he takes a strong view on civil rights now, but I'm definitely not a fan. His foreign policies are little better than the Republicans'. You know, in hindsight, maybe this is the best president America could ever elect. He wasn't perfect, but his heart was in the right place and he was a competent politician.
Prostitution: Decriminalize, protect sex workers better, and devote more resources to fight trafficking.
Religion: Should stop being relevant to society and public policy.
Social Security (Welfare): Pro.
The UN: Pro.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: It's all right, but it's not a cause I'll follow. Maybe if we develop good synthetic substitutes. I'm neither, but making a conscious effort to reduce meat consumption.
