War Games on Attika(Closed)

Postby Frankia » Sat May 04, 2013 11:27 pm

The 1st Armada had set up an FTLi field around the world of Attika out to 2 AU in order to close off the barren world to outsiders. The King had issued invitations to Frankish allies to partake in war games on Attika. Special codes had been given to them that they might pass slip through the FTLi field without any difficulties.

New Rock
Field Marshall Olivia Fredegund quietly sipped her tea as she awaited her counterparts. The Pords were expected to show up anytime now; as were other Frankish allies. She pulled out a pack of Rhodie cigarettes and motioned for her secretary to give her a light. Olivia breathed the smoke into her lungs with deeo satisfaction.

Olivia wore a black jacket, a black field cap, black trousers, and black leather boots. Her blonde hair reflected the light of Attika's two suns. The airfield had been set up for the landing of the craft of the foreign field marshals. The message the Franks had sent to their allies had detailed how all field marshals would be required to land on this airfield in their own personal plane. Falcon fighters would be provided escort them.

Olivia gazed upon the red sky of Attika. She was able to glimpse fighters soaring each and every direction. She could even see a few warships here and there. She finished her tea and stamped out her cigarette as she saw that a foreign aircraft had entered Attika's atmosphere. She barked orders to her general staff to stand to attention. A band nearby soon struck up the Hymn of Blood Brothers .

New Rock:

Entering the atmosphere of the planet would be a single Nalydian shuttle and its escorts. Standing high in orbit as overwatch would be elements of the HRF: the vast bulk of the 425 kilometer long Ja 'Suzt command battleship HRF Envious Tundra along with much smaller hulks of a couple dozen 15 kilometer long Hol Ka 'Suzt assault battleships. The tiny silhouettes - even compared to the Hol Ka 'Suzt - of the Hal Ka 'Suzt rift cruisers are present as well, testament to the tried and tested Cha 'Suzt design. After all, the Hal Ka 'Suzt were merely improved Cha 'Suzt, and the Cha 'Suzt have served Nalydya's space forces for generations.

Nalydian Shuttle:

"Herr Feldmarschall, we are nearing the airbase. We should be landed within the next ten minutes." Feldmarschall Reid Hildenbrand's adjutant comes with news from the pilot. The pilot would have simply used the craft's intracomms systems to notify everyone normally, however the system is down and needs to be fixed. This didn't stop Reid from choosing it though. This particular shuttle remains his favourite, and preferred one for transit.

"nam-Knachen," replies the Feldmarschall, as he stands to get a better view outside. Reid prides himself as being one of the most experienced commanders in the Nordwehr. He has taken part in nearly every conflict Nalydya has taken place in. He is part of the "Old Guard" of Nalydian officers... The highly experienced - and regarded - Feldmarschalls Reid, Keegan Russell, Michael Peterson; the commanders of the 5. and 6. "Guards" Panzer Divisions (and their Korps commander), along with Generals Hans Michael and C. H. Tyler, just to name a few.

Outside, the Frankish band grows larger in the viewport. The shuttle touches down and bounces a few times, and then comes to a stop. Reid is first to emerge from it, followed by his standard bearers.

Clad in the standard feldgrau of the Nordwehr - and sporting a spiked M2012 Stahlhelm in lieu of a standard officer's cap - he strides majestically off of the shuttle. His feldmarschall's crimson cape flutters in the wind behind him as the standard bearers move to keep pace with him, flanked by two HK Soldaten guards. He comes to a stop, saluting Olivia across the way.

Olivia returned the salute.

"Greetings Pordish Blut Bruder. I am Field Marshall Olivia Fredegund of His Most Arian King's Armed Forces. On behalf of His Arian Majesty, I welcome you to Attika."
She bowed her head as a token of respect to her Pordish counterparts. She then motioned the Pords to a nearby tent. Frankish sentries stood to attention as the Field Marshall approached. They lifted the flap for the Field Marshall and the Pords.

The escorting Pordish vessels were escorted by Frankish ships to Point 142 to land and unload the forces which would take part in the exercise.

"We are honoured to be here," replies Reid, returning the bow to the Frank. Behind him, his Korps commanders follow, moving rapidly to catch up. The standard bears move slightly to make room for them. They carry Reid's own standard, the standard of Nalydya and a slew of smaller standards. They follow Olivia into the tent, and Reid motions for the guards to remain outside. Once inside of the tent, he looks around, then up to Olivia, waiting for her to begin the briefing.

Outside, shuttles begin ferrying elements of the army that's to take part in the games to the surface. Thousands of them - perhaps - and a variety of sizes and shapes zip around through the air to the surface. On the ground, formations of men clad in gray already begin to take shape.

Olivia motions for Reid and his Kamrater to take their seats around a large hover table. They would notice to their delight that the room was air conditioned. Olivia then excused herself.

"I must greet the other inbound Blut Bruder. It might take awhile My second in command, General Freya Olgeson, will take it from here. Ciao."

Freya smiled at the Pords.
"Do you want anything to eat or drink while the Field Marshall is out? It must have been a long flight. We have everything set up. Perhaps you would like to view the map of Attika on the hover table before she returns?"
-

Point 032:(ooc:120 miles from Point 142)

A vast number of tents signal and the Frankish flag flying proudly would signal the position of the Frankish 5th Army. The Frankish force on Attika readied itself. The engines of the Stingrays and T-43s roared loudly. Frankish soldiers readily drank from flasks full of iced tea. Officers berated them for attempting to shield themselves from the horrible heat.

The Caroleans prayed as they always did before an engagement. They were the best the Empire had to offer. Dedicated to King, God, and the Empire.

Crew of both arty and tank scrubbed their tanks in the hot summer's sun.

New Rock:

Reid and his men gather around the table and look over the map of the planet. Already, a series of maneuvers and positions he might want flash through his head. As a group, they enjoy the nice cool temperature of the air conditioning. A Nalydian camp - though proper cold lovers themselves - would not have such... amenities.

"Yes, food and drink would be much appreciated. What meats do you have here," inquires Reid, genuinely interested. It has indeed been some time since he's eaten (the day before, perhaps?) and now the dull ache of hunger permeates through his stomach. His Korps commanders nod in ascent as they too would enjoy good food and drink.

"A glass of eggnog, should you have it," asks one of the Korps commanders.

Nalydian Camp:

Vast amounts of men and equipment can be seen sprawled across the field, moving to lengthen the front and establish proper borders between units, etc. Many Nalydian flags can be seen waving, however the old Imperial Nalydian Battleflag can also be seen, and a few standards from the Houses as well. Men go to work ensuring their tanks and other mobile vehicles are in proper working order. Adgu finish oiling their Yünak and prepare to go out scouting. Reid wants the army deployed as quickly as they would if they were conducting a planetary assault, though it's painfully obvious they're not moving as rapidly. Actual combat has a way of... Necessitating movement. At any rate, the gray hues of the Nordwehr vehicles glisten beautifully in the sun, the rows of CTM-6/PBA main battle tanks, Vubzhay infantry fighting vehicles and Arzhnüt armoured personnel carriers sit proudly, and even the massive 1,500cm DMKR artillery pieces seem to enjoy the sunlight - an oddity indeed for beings hailing from distant systems with planets dozens of AU from their parent stars. Sturmgrenadiere and SturmPioniere go over their own individual systems, and grab a few stretches before the exercises begin in earnest.

Near Attika
Using their codes an IKN fleet exits rift. The Fleet is led by a Mri’jir Command Ship. With it were dozens of ships ranging from the awe-inspiring Asag Dreadnoughts to the enormous Dusk Monitors. Almost completely hidden by the monstrosities around them there were thousands of smaller craft Destroyer Mk. III and Gwarm Cruisers floated between the other ships. Aboard the Mri’jir Fleet Admiral Delaney Flamebred stood on the bridge. She had been asked to attend these war games and put her raiders to the test here.

A message is relayed forth to notify the host that a shuttle would arrive with the Admiral aboard soon and that the Raiders would make camp shortly afterwards. The Raiders were spread across several of the ships. They were a highly mobile force and they expected that they would win these war games.

Above Attika

The message is received. The airport at New Town is notified. The Frankish vessels move to escort the IKN vessels to Point 214.

Tent
"We have duck, pheasant, beef, pork, buffalo, snow leopard, Uru(similar to Komodo dragon), pony, Ishii liver, and Orozcoan rump roast."

Freya then addressed a staff member upon hearing the request of one of the Korps commanders.

"A glass of egg nog; at the double."

"Ja, General."

"As for meat again?"

---
New Town
Olivia stood in attention awaiting the arrival of her Kesrithi counterparts. A band struck up the tune Union ; a song written by a Frankish song writer around the time of the 2nd Caedis War. It commemorated the great Union of Franks, Kesrithi, Pords, and Givosions against the Caedian menace.

New Rock:

"Buffalo or beef, preferably served raw," replies Reid. The Korps commanders nod in agreement, and thus it is settled. Seemingly in unison, the Korps commanders turn around to look outside of the tent. Apparently the Frankish band had thought it prudent to strike up some atrocious ruckus. Reid is unmoved - and unsurprised - at the poor musical taste of the Franks. It's gotten worse over the years, he silently concludes.

Nalydian Positions:

Outside in the hostile desert clime, the Nalydian formations continue to orient themselves. Brigade and division commanders pour over maps and charts, gaining a deeper understanding of the terrain and the features being dealt with. Among the formations is the VII Korps and the seasoned Paramarine Abteilungen that compose it.

"It's been a while since we've been with the Franks," notes a low-ranked Paramarine of the 65th Zeso Paramarine Regiment. He scratches his chin (his hand passes over a well kept beard) and brings up a question: "Who else you think'll show up?"

The ranking officer - listening in on the conversation - decides to chime in: "Don't know. Possibly no one else," he finishes, looking over his Gpu-45 rift pulse rifle.

Stun... The weapon is set on stun. Damn shame, he thinks. The Gpu-45 and its smaller carbine brother (the Kpu-28) have yet to actually be field tested en masse. Many Paramarines are apprehensive about its performance. Energy-based weapons aren't particularly highly regarded, especially considering how the most recent developments of the Projector Array weaponry have left them near useless in space combat.

Freya's staff member quickly retrieved the egg nog and several racks of buffalo from the food container. The staff member set the meat and the egg nog before the Pords.

Freya sensed that the Pords seem distressed at the music which the Frankish band was playing. She paused for a second and thought. Within 30 seconds, the tent's sound proof system had been activated. The Pords would no longer be able to hear what was going on outside the tent. She smiled in delight as the Pords could glimpse the Frankish band but not hear them play.

"Make yourselves comfortable, brut bruder."
Freya said as she sat down.

New Town

Delaney's shuttle lands and she walks down the ramp. She sees the Franks around and walks over to Olivia to introduce herself, "I am Fleet Admiral Delaney Flamebred. I am honored to represent Kesrith at these war games in this distant universe."

Nearby IKN shuttles begin ferrying the raiders to the surface. They were preparing a position in a nearby wooded area while scouting for a better place to set up.

New Rock:

As the noise from the outside is filtered out of the system, an eerie silence set over them. Fortunately, it is broken by the arrival of food and drink. Reid is first to sip the nog and partake of the meat. Chewing it well - and washing it down with the nog - he is pleased with its texture, consistency and taste. Signaling to his commanders that it is indeed good, they too have their share, and soon arrive at the same conclusion as their superiour.

"The formations should be finishing forming up soon," notes one of the Korps commanders, recalling his time-table after glancing down to check his watch.

Reid nods; waves his hand over their general deployment area on the Frankish map: "We've got some decent ground for them to deploy on."

"Desert. Should provide good testing grounds for the CTMs," the Korps commander continues.

"Yes," replies Reid. Then, to the Frank: "Other than us, have the Franks invited others to these war games?"

Nalydian Positions:

The formations of men and materiel finish their deploying, arrayed in a vast north-south stretching front sprawling across the desert. The gray-clad soldiers traipse around waiting for their orders to being the exercise. Within their ranks are some sixteen divisions arranged into four Korps: VII Korps Paramarines; 9. Mobile Korps; IV PanzerKorps; and 1. Korps Paramarines. The Paramarine formations are deployed the farthest north and south, with the 9. Mobile Korps and IV PanzerKorps in the center.

Throughout the army, supplies are brought to staging areas and prepped for rapid movement. Last minute calibrations are made on weapons; energy weapons set to stun and kinetic weaponry using nerfed muzzled velocity and a variety of training ammunition.

New Rock Airport
OOC: Mixed up New Rock with New Town. My bad.

"Greetings Fleet Admiral. I am Field Marshall Olivia Fredegund. On behalf of His Most Arian King, I welcome you to our realm. Welcome."

She bowed as a sign of respect.

She then pointed to a Staff Sergeant by the name of Yerat Jorgeson.

"I have to remain here as others are coming. Yerat will escort you and the other Kesrithi to the command tent. "

She then looked over to Yerat.

"Isn't that right Staff Sergeant?"

"Yes, ma'am!"

Yerat led the way. But as he did so, he glimpsed a sand storm to the west. Fortunately, it wasn't heading in their direction.

"Nasty things those sand storms. Attika is famous for'em."

Within 5 minutes, they had reached the tent. He lifted the flap for the Kesrithi to enter.

"At least two more allies are expected to atten."

Freya then spotted the Kesrithi entering. The Kesrithi would notice a hover table with Pords gathered around it.

"Ah, welcome. Please, sit. Is there any food or drink that you might like while you wait for the others?"

Yerat leaned against the tent's wall.

New Rock Airport

The Fleet Admiral smiles and nods, "Thank you for your hospitality."

She followed Yerat, "Yes, those things can get nasty. My hunting expedition on Kutath got caught in one once. Took several weeks before it died down. There was quite a bit of concern that the party had been killed."

Once inside the tent she noticed the Pords immediately and knew who they were from her own universe. "Thank you, I'd like water. The trip was withering."

She looks to the Pords as she takes a seat and asks, "And how are the Pords doing? Its been some time since I had the pleasure of meeting with a group from Nalydya."

New Rock:

The Nalydian officers turn upon being addressed. Indeed it is good to see familiar faces around. "The state of the empire has never been better," replies Reid, matter-of-factly. "The extra-universal colonies are flourishing, and great construction works are taking place in the homeland," he continues, referring to the refitting of the Hochraumflotte. "What brings the eyes and ears of Kesrith to this distant corner of the multiverse?"

Somewhat less interested in the conversations at hand, the Korps commanders return to looking over the maps. Amid the chewing, and drinking of nog, they point and chat amongst themselves about the terrain and the weather. Duststorms. Shouldn't be too much worse than the Chlümüchgrazhnien of Nalydya.... Total whiteout...

Water was fetched for the Kesrithi Admiral. Freya looked on the scene with delight. It had been a long time since the Franks had come in contact with allies from beyond this Universe. She takes note of the state of the Nalydian Empire in the home Verse of the Franks. The Pords had grown stronger since the time of the 1st Empire.

"Our agents, though they be few in Nations FB as of now, have reported to us that things have changed significantly since the time of our departure. That Barlat has withered, that Gaullia has been smashed, that billions of Nationale Einheitens have been slain, and that Laptev reigns supreme. It seems that Laptev is the new Rome, and that she is the mistress of the Verse.

She paused as she took a drink from a bottle of water brought to her by an orderly.

"How have your Empires coped with this development?"

New Rock
Olivia stood at attention. Awaiting for the last invitees to arrive. She had not had the pleasure of meeting this people that the Pords had suggested his Arian Majesty should invite. She spotted a plane in the distance preparing to land.

The Frankish band played an old Frankish folk song .

Almost laughing, "Laptev is closer to a drooling child who found a baseball bat in a day care. Just wait until the adults show up, their fun will be over. Kesrith is as strong as ever. New projects pump out new and more powerful ships and weapons every day. As you can see from my own ships our genetic engineering and biological warfare departments have been able to produce some of the most powerful warships in the known multi-verse. "

Taking a sip from the water Delaney smiled. The thought of Laptev being an object to be feared was almost too laughable for her to take.

New Rock:

The Feldmarschall raises an eyebrow at Freya's comment. He thinks carefully about how to reply to it, then makes his statement: "Your agents have likely been compromised by the Laptev, I'm afraid," answers Reid. "The Laptev are not an all-powerful force. They are strong," - he raises his hand into the air, motioning with his index finger - "but not unbeatable. It seems things - relations - have more or less become polarized, unfortunately. And although Nalydya flourishes, the 'verse around her slowly shrinks, erodes and decays."

One of the Korps commanders coughs, clearing his throat. "Barlat, Gaullia, Nationale Einheit... None of those are of any concern to Nalydya. Barlat... Once. After the Barlat-Laptev War? No, no concern. The destruction of the Kiran's Empire by ourselves and our loyal Kesrithi and Givosion allies is testament to that," the commander adds. "Now, recently the destruction of Nationale Einheit did lead to a... Grinding exchange... Hostile words traded between the SC's own Patagonia and members of the Axis. Alterrans were there too. Aside from some excess mobilizations, not much came of it, and indeed it actually had very little to do Nationale Einheit itself."

Reid nods to the man who then nods in return. Speaking, the Feldmarschall raises his voice to be heard well: "No, the Laptev are of no concern to us. Very soon we will be shutting off all of Barbarossa I to them. Finally, enforcement of the Barbarossa Doctrine," he chuckles, recalling the last time the Doctrine was brought up was against their very own blood brothers, the Franks.

"I see. I shall inform His Arian Majesty personally when I return to court. Those we will find out will know the King's justice."

Freya showed no emotion as she said this.

"Aye, the Barbarossa Doctrine.."
She whispered softly.

"Axis expansion into the ARN Galaxy prompted the mobilizations, no? It was definitely not to save NE from its fate. His Arian Majesty often points out NE as an example to the court of what type of leaders one realm gets with democracy.

The passions of a few inexperienced commoners elected by other commoners to rule over them doomed the NE realm. These politicians only cared for themselves, their principles, and their lobbyist pals; not for either the realm or the NE people. Their manipulation of the NE public for revenge without the consideration of the consequences of a war with Laptev, their total ineptness in the affairs of state and arms, and their not caring what befell the NE realm and its allies as a result of their policies brought on the NE Untergang. Democracy breeds ineptness absent in most monarchies today."

She said this as a proud Monarchist. She chuckled at the Kesrithi's comparison of Laptev and a child.

"Our Arian chroniclers have long written on Laptev's own self-aggrandizement through war and their constant violation of the rights on sentients. Always searching for a fight. Always starting wars.. Always backstabbing friends.. Laptev will know one day the wrath of the Lord.

It is a terrible shame that the FBVerse shrinks and fades away as the Empires are at the height of their power and glory. We Franks believe that one day we too shall return to the FBVerse and restore our mighty Empire there. One Empire, One King, and One God. Our faith in the Lord and in our common destiny compels us onward to reclaim our ancestral homeland. Especially as we seek to recover the body of our great King Clovis; the founder of the Frankish Realm."

"The worst part of the whole thing is that while Laptev continues to expand in FB-1 they do not see the enemy on the outside. The Dark Forces which destroyed MS-1 have followed us to FB-1 and have begun their devastating assaults on the universe. Already our Rift Fleets have encountered several dozen collection sites where the Enemy is destabilizing the uninhabited areas of the universe to prepare for a total collapse. My fleets in particular took out several of these sites. It sickens me that while Laptev grows fat on its own droppings they cannot even attempt to aid in the destruction of an enemy which threatens universes."

Delaney finishes the first glass of water and asks for a second. Already the greenish color of her skin was coming back and was more visible.

New Rock:

The mentioning of "God" and "Lord" draws a few surprised look from the Pords. Were the Franks really still stuck in the past, believing in such things? Surely, the Polar Spirits had to have made themselves known to the Franks at some point. But then again, perhaps they didn't. It had been proposed at one point, that all religions were correct. Maybe - just maybe - the Frankish god exists for the Franks, exercising a sort of "divine favouritism." Much like the Pords... Jlokhemit would not turn his back on his chosen people, yet for obvious reasons cares not about other nations in the multiverse.

"You could say that. A certain nation thought it prudent to contest the Laptev's actions in the galaxy. The entire situation was laughable, at best. The Laptev thought they had control of the matter, but the truth is we simply brought defenses into the area, and then they were more or less ignored by the most of us." he stops, looks at his empty nog glass and motions for a refill. "Well. The Laptev's time will come. We need only wait. And when it does, they'll be in for a surprise."

The empty glasses were taken by a staff orderly . Within a few minutes, they were brought back to the Kesrithi and the Pord.

Freya looked at Delaney rather shaken. Not because of her skin returning to its original color, but because of what Delaney had just announced. She sputtered a few words in despair.

"Dark Forces?.... MS-1 has been destroyed?.... They are moving on FB-1?... "

Freya collapsed into a nearby chair. She motioned for a staff member for a cigarette and a light. She inhaled the smoke deeply. As she exhaled, she began firing out questions to the Kesrithi at a rapid rate.

"What Dark Forces exactly?.. How could they possibly destroy an entire Universe? Can they be stopped? How far are they from NS-1? Do you require any of our assistance?"

Freya seemed to have ignored what Reid had said. Focused on obtaining these vital answers.

Some of the Franks in the tent noticed the few perplexed looks from the Pords. The Pordish belief system was little understood by the Franks. The Pords likewise would have little understanding of the Arian revival amongst the Franks in the NS-1 Verse. Or its impact upon Frankish society and government. On the belt buckles the Frankish servicemen wore would be found the words "Een Gud, Een Kud, Een Riket".

Looking up from her second glass of water Delaney continues, "MS-1 is indeed gone.. or atleast it is unreachable to us now. FB-1 is under assault. So far we have held them off and have a few weapons that work very well against them. Unfortunately we don't know where they come from, what they are, why they are doing it, but we do know the signs of when and where its happening. So far I've detected that potentially 2/3 of the known multiverse has some kind of scouting force operating in it, including NS-1. I fear they will target this universe sometime in the next 400 years..... IF, we can't put an end to them before then. While the FB-1 Universe falls into war we are preparing our nation for 'Isolationism' and have begun building up the largest rift fleet we can manage. All of the Oleander ships are capable of fighting in rift now and we should be able to field more than 36 million ships in total. We continue our patrols as usual in FB-1 and have founded colonies in NS-1 to be sure that our nation survives and seems to be operating normally.

"Enough of that which we cannot change, how shall these games be played out."

Freya was about to speak when Field Marshall Olivia suddenly entered. Olivia dusted herself off.
"One came in from the east. bloody Hell." she muttered.

"Alright, seems as though our other guest has decided not to appear on time. He has until about midnight tonight to get here. After that, the codes will be changed."

Olivia then approached the hover table. Waving her hand over it to bring up the map.

"Down to business then. Gather round."
She waved to the Pords and Kesrithis. Freya and other Franks joined in.

"Attika is great for maneuver warfare.. Weather permitting. Mobile Pordish, Kesrithi, and Frankish forces will attempt to outmaneuver and engage one another at Point 001. About 75 KM from New Rock. Tanks, mechas, Apcs, ect. will be used here. "

She then zoomed on a seemingly empty city.

"This is Turon. Point 054. Around 120 KM from New Rock. Our engineers hastily built it prior to your arrival. Mock urban combat will take place here with Frankish forces defending. Kesrithi and Pordish ground forces are expected to attempt to storm the city either through airborne assault or through a direct assault. Armored vehicles will be allowed, but given the nature of urban combat, I expect losses to be rather high.

No live rounds shall be permitted. Only stun or electronic rounds are allowed."

Olivia then pointed to the various counters on the map. They came into 3 colors.
"Red is Kesrithi, blue is Pordish, and green is Frankish. If our tardy guests should ever arrive they shall be designated as pink and shall join in promptly."

Olivia motioned for a cup of tea. One of her staff members fetched it promptly. She took a sip, and then handed it back to her staff member. Freya seemed focused on the map.

"The games themselves start in the morning. The suns have already set, and it should be about 9 hours before they rise again. Plenty of time to ask any questions, move troops into position for tomorrow's activities, and rest for what is about to begin on the morrow."

New Rock:

The Korps commanders soak the information. Already, they're relaying what has been said to their division commanders and the division commanders their brigade and battalion commanders. The thrumming of engines starting and running can be heard as the Nalydian formations shift in their positions, finalizing their locations and ensuring they are completely ready to move out come morn. Some of the formations are already pointing towards Point 001, while others shift towards the city.

"Very well. We'll be taking our leave." Reid motions to his commanders; they acknowledge his motioning. Bowing towards the Franks, he turns around and leaves the tent, followed by the commanders.
