History:
Patreas Dimitros
Under the directorship of its current CEO, Patreas Dimitros, Auroran Oceanic has set itself an ambitious goal, to be the premier ferry operator in the Aurora Confederacy. With financing from the Mercantile Federal government, Auroran Oceanic came about with a merger between two smaller ferry companies and a buy out of a third which consolidated the position of Auroran Oceanic. Furthermore the ships that serve the Aurora Confederacy under the Auroran Oceanic have been built to the toughest standards to deal with the Auroran waters which are frequently frozen over in winter. Patreas started with Aurora TransPolar Sea-Link which was the original trading name of the company until a corporate rebranding took place in 2001. After the merger, Patreas Dimitros was well established in the company, taking an active role within the board of directors due to his knowledge, This culminated in him becoming CEO of the company, which in 2001 was struggling to break even.
During the 2000s, Auroran Oceanic underwent a period of losses due to excessive Beaurocacy, however Patreas with assistance from other managers he brought in from the company slashed the million dollar pay packets that directors had been awarding themselves and in many cases terminating contracts, as well as selling off some of the older, more unreliable ferries and cutting unprofitable sailings, this returned the company to profit in 2003 after merely breaking even for the last 5 years.
Domestic services for Auroran Oceanic sail daily from between Helskja and South Sands, every 2 hours, and between New Heysham and Barentsburg every 4 hours with additional services planned between Fraserborough and Helskja
VIP Treatment
Each of our ships has a capacity of Each ship has 313 two-berth cabins , and the ability to carry up to 612 cars, with 1920 lane meters of deck space aboard each ship, with each lane being 3.5m in and 4.6m in height, allowing for large trucks to be catered for. Because of the long distance routes, Auroran Oceanic ferries feature salons, bars and swimming pools, allowing passengers to relax in absolute comfort whilst aboard ship. To help passengers find their way around, Auroran Oceanic has coloured doors, and the number of cabins assigns them to a specific location, odd numbers to Port, even to starboard with the first number of the cabin being its deck, the second number gives its location on the corridor as to which side it is on, whilst the third number locates it to port or starboard side of the ship.
As each ship leaves port, passengers are given a full safety brief, informing them where the lifeboat muster locations can be found along with how to put on the life jackets, however for safety and comfort of other passengers cabins are non-smoking , though for those who do smoke, there are smoking areas aboard ship.
Pets: The policy of pets: Providing they have a pet passport and are fully vaccinated, pets can be carried on board. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

The fleet
Aurora Oceanic operates 20 Ocean class ferries. The latest of which is the Ocean Destiny. These ferries are designed with internal baffles on the car deck, in responce to the 1980s Herald of Free Enterprise disaster, furthermore the bow doors are designed with interlocks, preventing the ship from engaging its propulsion system with the bow doors or stern ramp open. For a stable ride, the Ocean class is equipped with active roll stabilisers which when at sea can be deployed, these work in the same way that ailerons work on an airliner, except here they are used to reduce a ships oll in heavy seas rather than to induce a roll angle, however like the aileron, they work by deflecting the water over it to induce a force. For manouvring in tight spaces, the Ocean class has twin bow thrusters and a stern thruster, as well as the ability to turn on the spot using its main engines, making the ocean class extremely manouvrable, whilst its 2 nine bladed propellers sit in kort nozzles to protect them from damage.
