The teenage stared her laptop monitor down, as she had been for the past hour. Admittedly there was a great deal of thrill in this entire endeavor - the idea of doing something different, something so radically different and outside the static, authoritarian-imposed lifestyles of people around these parts.

The ''Send To'' text box on the page had the words Globe Talent Agency in them, words that danced around her mind for well over a year now. Ever since she was little she had dreamed of fame, but had reconciled with the fact that she didn't have that same spunk that the great heroes of the Republican Guard, the Senate or the Chancery had. She was a simple city girl. She'd gone through all the physical education programs, was a member of the district school's calligraphy club, and even sang for the district's Youth Colunteers' Choir a few years back - somehow though, the military or its pompous chorales just didn't tug at her heartstrings as much as it probably would have for the next person. She was the kind of girl who grew up dancing and playing dress-up in her room; singing in the shower, fantasizing about the performing arts and admiring international stars - ballet dancers, models, actresses, all the big-shots of the entertainment industry. She always wanted to enter showbiz, but was too timid and unsure of what the rest of the Golgothians would think of her. Her parents were okay with it - her mother supported it right from the outset; her father shrugged it off, having no experience of the glam or splendor of the entertainment industry outside the republic's propaganda-laden programs, musicals and specials. The local community at the Ichisei Temple down the street didn't seem to have a problem with it when she shared it at one of the neighborhood meetings. Even the nuns and the presiding matriarch said she wasn't doing anything wrong. It was perfectly fine! It was just so daring, so unexpected of a Golgothian whose mindset normally leaned to submission and conformity.

Few supported her, particularly close friends, but they did so with such zeal and excitement over the idea that it compensated for its lack in headcount. Go for it!, her bestfriend had just said before heading home about half an hour ago. It was nine-thirty in the evening now, Golgothian time. We already have all the war-time heroes, Misato! It's time we had a peace-time hero! Someone who'll be the sweetheart that doesn't need guns or uniforms to wow us. It's time for a change of peace!

Could she really take that risk though? There she sat, in her evening pajamas and all set for bed. Her hair that would flow down the long of her back was tied up in two buns - a look people came to know her for. I can't be serious about this - look at me!, she thought. I'm just another face. I have one performance to my name and a few shots from the district's local newspaper - and those are from the kids' apparel showcase section and one measly summer-bikini shot!

I guess it's worth a try. If things don't turn out as they please, at least I tried right? That's Zen isn't it? I gave it my all and lived in the moment.

With a hit of the ''enter'' key, the email was away and the page displayed the ''message sent'' text with a small animated GIF of an envelope flying off.

''What am I doing?!'', she finally gasped out in a mixture of panic and relief. The young one rest her head against the table and softly beat it in exhilaration with her balled fists.

I did it! I did it! But what would they think? Would they even reply back, let alone consider me? Oh please please please dear republic, oh dear leader, I really really hope they do!
