This thread is simply to discuss legislation for the NSG Senate before it is officially submitted.

Keep in mind that when you are ready to officially submit it, please have someone move to put it up for debate in the chamber thread. It will require the normal amount of motions to put it up for debate. There is no set queue.

This coffee shop also offers a useful map to all current party headquarters. While these entities are not official senate bodies, they are important to the organizational aspect of the Senate.

And for the sake of enforcing the Ethics Act, it shall be placed here as well to act as a quick look in case a Senator is indeed participating in any violations.

RECOGNIZING the amount of bickering that has been taking place in the NSG Senate over political parties,
APPALLED by the actions of Senators who continued with said bickering instead of acting like gentlemen,
TO ENSURE that all Senators are treated with respect within the Senate Chambers and other official NSG Senate threads,
The NSG Senate hereby enacts the following,
(1) Senators are prohibited from slandering each other. Any instance of slander will result in the perpetrating Senator receiving a warning.
(a) Defines Slander as defamation by oral utterance rather than by writing or pictures.
(b) Once a Senator has been warned for slander twice, he/she may face suspension of senatorial service for a period of time which is
determined by the appropriate Senate administrators.
(2) All political party advertising must be done through telegram and is prohibited in any NSG Senate threads.
(a) Each political party will have their name and description of the party stated in the OP.
(3) Political Parties are prohibited from pressuring Senators to join a party.
(a) Any Senator who feels they have been pressured into joining a party should report this to the appropriate administrative staff.
(b) Any Party leader/member that pressures a Senator into joining a party will be given a punishment at the administrator’s discretion.

I have a proposal/suggestion.

Our country does not yet have a common currency, which is a major problem, since it complicates government administration and makes writing bills which use fixed fees or which must describe quantities of money more difficult than they need to be. I have some layman's knowledge of monetary policy and central banking, but not nearly enough (at least in my estimation) to write a good bill which sets up a monetary system and actually works well. The aim of the bill is to set up a currency which is stable in value and suitable for facilitating the exchange of goods and services in the economy, and should be something that most of the Senate can be happy (or at least content) with, the most moderate proposal I can think of, when taking into account all the ideologies in the Senate, is a paper currency which is backed by some precious metal, such as gold or silver. If someone is well versed in economics or monetary policy, and can write a simple bill which sets up a monetary system, I will support them wholeheartedly.

What are my fellow Senator's feelings on this?

Also, I realize that gold and silver standards have some serious problems (that they're inherently deflationary, which can create a situation where the growth of the economy (and thus the demand for money) begins to outstrip the growth in the money supply (which is pegged to gold/silver, and thus relatively inelastic), which can cause prices and demand to fall, dampering growth (an instance of this occurring was during the late 19th century, with the "Long Depression"), and that, while the long term value of gold is quite stable, the short term value can vary wildly due to major gold finds or price speculation), but for the purposes of this game, I think it's the most uncontroversial type of monetary system we can adopt. I feel like if we tried to implement a more modern monetary system, some parties which shall not be named would flip shit and oppose it.

Provide low interest loans of up to £100,000 at a 2% APR for those who wish to start a small business. The Office can review each application on a case by case basis.

A small business is hereby defined as an unincorporated or private limited business which earns less than £100,000,0 a year. Owners must not have been declared bankrupt.

We could just use US Dollars, Pounds sterling, or Euros, yea.
