"You are immortal, Fixban." mentioned Crowley as they walked along the school. "Do you regret it?"

Fixban looked impassive for a moment.

"I'm sorry." Crowley said quickly. "I didn't intend to pry."

"No need to be sorry. I was thinking about your question." Fixban admitted. "One I consider relatively often, actually. It's true that I regret sometimes that immortality has cost me at times. The chance for a family, friends, even a country. It's made me into a loner, an outsider. But I was already all of that before I became an immortal. But this life has given me wonders as well. I have seen the marvels of this universe, all that we can accomplish with it. A normal life is not enough to experience even the smallest fraction of what Earth has to offer, let alone the other realms and other worlds."

Fixban glanced at his protege. "I have visited every continent on this planet and every country. I have been to hundreds of realms, even made some of my own. I still haven't covered anything we can experience in this world. There's so much left. Immortality is the greatest gift we can be given, my son." he said.

Crowley seemed to consider this, nodded and ran off. And Valaran was left alone.

"The island of Atlantis has fallen, Valaran." Loki said calmly, looking at his changing map and seeing the island begin to sink.

Fixban stared at the Norse God. "That cannot be possible." he said in a very nearly pleading tone. "Sobek himself was there, he was going to protect it-"

"I believe Sobek must have been a traitor. God knows we've had some of those." Loki replied shortly. "Now, we can't gripe about what's past. We need a plan to stop the Fae. We need-"

"Yes, yes, we need a plan." Fixban muttered to himself. "What had happened in Egypt, by the way?"

"That way of magical energy? I'm still not entirely sure. It wiped out a lot of Fae. Not all of them, but a lot. And..." Loki hesitated. "Also, destroyed quite a lot of our works. There's a lot of marvels we had built that-"

"Never mind that now. That's unimportant." Fixban dismissed. "What do we have? What can we do?"

"I was hoping you'd know." Loki admitted, looking tired. "You're the Mage, Fixban. What do we do?"

Loki looked at his old friend. The Mage was older than him, most certainly. He was a powerful and ancient being, older than any God Loki had known. Some wondered if he were an Ancient, but Fixban had categorically denied that. He did not discuss his age, so Loki had no frame of reference.

"Do you trust me, Loki?" Fixban asked suddenly.

"With my life, Valaran." Loki replied honestly and without hesitation. And it was true- he didn't know very much about Fixban, but he was honest. He trusted Fixban. People generally did.

"Alright." Fixban clapped his hands. "Give me a sword, a rope, a pot of coffee and a bowler hat."

"Why the last two?"

"I'm tired and I like bowler hats. Get to it." Fixban snapped, clapping his hands. "Now, I have a plan to potentially help stop the Fae. But it'll be a tough one."

"At this point, I think I'm up for anything- and so is Odin." Loki said, the objects appearing in his hand.

Fixban flicked the top hat on his head and started sipping from the coffee, the sword and rope on the ground. "Alright then. That's good to hear. Find our team. And get the sweeper, Richard. We all have things to discuss and things to do. Alright?"

Loki nodded and went to secure the appointment. And Valaran was left alone.

"Ah." Fixban said suddenly, a glass of coffee in his hand. "They can't cover it now."

"I felt that." Crowley said suddenly. "I felt that demonic energy. They're attacking. They made themselves public?"

"They did. And now the world is going to change, Aleister. It's going to change before our eyes." Fixban said, standing up. "Go there now. Go defeat the demons. They've attacked Washington DC."

"Allan-"

"Call me Valaran. Nobody else is here at the moment."

"Valaran, do you feel this is right? To reveal ourselves now?"

"This is exactly the right time." Fixban said, putting the coffee back on the table and grabbing Crowley's shoulders. "This is the moment when it can all change and you need to spearhead that change, Aleister. You want to make sure that when the humans arrive on our door, they will be cheering and not lynching. You know the importance of taking charge in confusion. People will look up to you, for better or worse. Remember that." he said, slapping his apprentice on the back.

"Now go."

Crowley turned and nodded, teleporting off to stop the mild attack in DC.

And Valaran was left alone.

"The Fae are surrounding us here. Valaran, you must have a plan. I believe we can fight another decade with our resources, but I have no-"

"Listen to me." Fixban snapped. "The world, unless we can do something, is doomed. We need to defeat the Fae, yes, but maybe we are a lost cause here-"

"I cannot accept that." said Hachiman, the Japanese war god. "I cannot accept surrender to the Fae."

"Not surrender." Valaran insisted. "But more time. A new era to fix these things."

"What do you mean?" Odin asked suspiciously.

"I know time well. Some of my powers revolve around it, as you know. I've also looked back in time, to the confusion during our universe's birth. I didn't understand much, but I understand some before my brain began to melt. Somethings there I was not meant to know. But I have an idea."

"What, then?" asked Hachiman politely.

"I'm going to activate Gotterdammerung. It's the only-"

Roars of "NO!" were heard by Hachiman, Loki and Odin all three. "That is too far, Valaran!" said Odin, standing up in a near rage. "That is-"

"He's right." said Ganesh, suddenly appearing. "Only way. Trust me on this." then Ganesh left.

Odin placed his head in his hands. "I need time to consider this." he said simply. Then he slowly walked away, as did the other gods. Walking- not teleporting, walking. Odin fought like a warrior- but now he walked like an old man.

And Valaran was left alone.
