Background:

The Skybound Republic of Havensky was re-founded from the Kingdom of Fourhearts after climate change triggered massive storms that permanently flooded the four home islands. Despite the high level of Fourheart's technology, no amount of technology could save the islands. A massive evacuation of the islands occurred during a category five hurricane and the majority of the population was evacuated on airships. Despite this, many lives were lost in the ensuring storm including the King and Queen.

The population sought and accepted refuge in the Region of Texas. The remnants of the government decided to rebuild their nation in the skies. Construction for the Emerald City began in Port Home and lasted for a year. During this time, those who had been in government before took the opportunity to draw up new Constitution. Upon the completion of the first Air City, the nation was re-founded as The Skybound Republic of Havensky. (The Air City being a Haven in the Sky)

Havensky is best known for its vast airship armadas and cities that float in the sky. The Airship Armada takes part in a regional defensive alliance and protects the skies of it's new home. Havensky holds personal and political freedoms sacrosanct.

Havensky's foreign policy is non-interventionist, but keeps a special group of airships on hand for humanitarian missions.

Government
The Skybound Republic of Havensky is a constitutional monarchy.

Legislative

All legislative power is vested in the Senate and is led by it's Prime Minister. The Minister is elected by the Senate and individual members are directly elected. The Senate itself is divided into Colleges, one for each city. Distribution is by population of the cities.

Judicial

The High Court of Havensky is the highest court, however most judicial activity occurs at the local level.

Executive

Executive Power is split between the King and the High Executor.

King Drake of Havensky
The Royal Family serves as the head of state and titular commander of the Armada. Traditionally, members of the royal family become officers in the Armada and serve as ambassadors while they are still in line for the throne. The King acts as the official representative of the people, but has no political power.

High Executor

The High Executor acts as chief administrator of the Republic. The office is not one that is used for making policy, the High Executor is much more of a public administration role than a political one. However, the High Executor is an elected office.

Air Cities of Havensky


The Crystal City, Capital of Havensky

The Crystal City is the capital of Havensky and one the largest floating structure on earth. The city floats using anti-gravity cells located on the bottom of the aircity. These are so numerous in number, that only half of the cells are required to be functional to keep the city floating. This redundancy is a safety measure found in all Skyan Aircities. The aircity is powered by several dozen fusion generators.

Crystal City houses all governmental departments in the central tower. The East and West Towers are business districts while the smaller towers surrounding them are residential areas.

All travel to the Crystal City must be by airship. Residents of the Texas Region may travel freely, but all others must have a passport.

Silver City

Silver City is home to Silverheart Shipyards and is the industrial hub of Havensky. A majority of airships are built at Silver City and the shipyard is constantly trying to improve their design. Silver City is also home to the Skyline Armory, which produces guns, missiles, and other weapons.

Silver City is also famous for it's entertainment district called the Silver Strip. The Strip features casinos, theater, opera, and numerous live music venues. Silver City is the second largest aircity in Havensky.

Ruby City

The Ruby City is the home of the Airship Armada and is the only city not available to foreign visitors. Details of the Ruby City are classified.

The Airship Armada of Havensky


The Airship Armada is the official military of The Skybound Republic of Havensky. Being a nation whose primary national interests are all airborne, the Skybound Republic spends the bulk of it's military spending on airships.

The Skybound Republic also has the Skyan Legion, who act as security forces for the Aircities, Armada, and an infantry force when required.

The Armada has three primary missions:

1) Defend the skies from the threats against the Skybound Republic and her Allies.
2) Provide logistical support during allied operations
3) Provide close air support and heavy fire support for the Legion and Allied Forces.

Havensky Military Airships

Design Notes:

Problems with Series I
Havensky airships do not fly the same way traditional aircraft do. Anti-gravity cells at the bottom of the craft keep the airship in the air, while gravity-generation engines 'push' the airship forward.

Havensky airships do try to take advantage of aerodynamics when possible, and that is the primary reason for the arrowhead design seen on many of the airships.

Weapons

Missiles are the primary weapons on a majority of Havensky Airship, although many airships do have gun turrets installed as well. This allows for more firepower and less crew needed to maintain and operate the ships weapons. Each missile tube can be linked and has it's own independent targeting. Therefore, each airship is capable of unleashing a dramatic amount of firepower simultaneously.

The Defender is the Flagship of the Airship Armada. It's hangar will hold an entire Wing of jetfighters, while boasting facilities used for the administration and command of the Armada. The Defender does contain a small number of missile launchers, but it primary depends on escorts for it's own defense.

AB-23 Sam Houston Battleship

The Battleship is one of the few airships whose primary weapons include railguns. The large tubes on the bottom of the airships actaully contain several smaller railguns. The railguns can release a devastating amount of artillery at long ranges. The Battleships work closely with Legion forces and allied ground troops to provide close fire support when the need arises.

The backbone of the Airship Armada is the Cruiser and the airship assumes a number of roles in the service of the Republic.

Type-A is anti-aircraft build with anti-aircraft missiles installed and more air radar sensors installed. The Type-A is faster than the Type-B. Often times, Type-As are assigned to an escort role.

Type-B is a ground attack airship armed with more air-to-ground missiles, cruise missiles, as well as thicker armor. Additional ground radars have been installed as well. Type-B's are known to operate independently from the fleet at times.

The Legion required a craft for close air-support and quick deployments. This airship provides that close air-support with two 25mm cannons as well as missile tubes. The Series II is much more maneuverable with wings that are adjustable in-flight. Each Airship holds one company of Legionaries.

AC200 - Series II Logistical Support Airship

Every military force moves on it's stomach - and Texans have some pretty big stomachs. That is why Silverheart Shipyards developed the AC-200 Sky King.

The Sky King Class Airships are used to provide logistical support transport all across the NS World. They are used to carry personnel, supplies, fuel, ammo, and other necessities directly to the front lines. Variants of the Sky King Class include a mobile base, AWACs, and a hospital.

The airship's dramatic lift capabilities are a result of it's six large hovercraft engines. (The engine's sole purpose is to provide the lift necessary for flight by 'pushing' magnetic energy downward) Like all Series II airships, the engines are powered by a fusion generator deep within the airship.

The Sky King is not a fast airship when compared to the more combat oriented craft. It's average cruise speed is 500 mph, which is only slightly slower than conventional airlift craft. However, the capacity of the Sky King is double that of a normal aircraft. Additionally, the Sky King can take off and land vertically - eliminating the need for an air base.

As standard practice, Sky Kings travel in groups and are usually heavily guarded by a squadron of missile cruisers.

Unofficial Havensky Military Unit

[secret]There is one unit in Havensky that is completely unofficial and very much outside the Armada chain-of-command. It's also quite the scandal.

The Defianti are an elite fighter pilot group led by Commander Scorpio Talon. The group is comprised of former fighter pilots who have two distinct attributes: extreme talent and a disregards for the rules and regulations. Several of the pilots were discharged for sheer reckless.

The group has purchased several small airships which they have heavily modified into fighters. They are capable of incredible airborne acrobatics and speed. Under normal circumstances, this would never be allowed by the government save for three things.

One, is that Scorpio Talon is the son of High Admiral Leo Talon - the highest ranking officer in the Armada. The Defianti don't cause trouble, and so the Armada has never had any official reason to bring them in. And Leo, despite the difficulties with his son, doesn't quite have the will to bring him in.

Two, the chief mechanic and second in command is Xavier Evo - whose grandfather invented the post-modern airship and founded the Silverheart Shipyards. Xavier's tinkering with his grandfather's designs help advance the effectiveness of the Skyan Airship. And his generous contributions to politicians and charities make it politically difficult to demonize the group.

And third, the Defianti are useful when action needs to be taken that's....as unofficial as these pilots are defiant. [/secret]

A: Havensky is a post-modern-tech nation. The Airships are fueled by a synthetic form of helium that becomes lighter when charged with electricity.

The engines keep the ship airborne while the engines push the ship.


Q: Arn't airships a moving coffin?
A: Yes and No.

Yes, anything that moves can be targeted by a laser turret designed to shoot down missiles and smaller aircraft. However, they do tend to be slower than most fighter jets so Airship depend on a complement of fighter drones for protection.


Q: So, if I have a natural disaster or something, can I ask Havensky for help?

A: Absolutely, we're required by Havensky's Third Law to assist any nation in need of aid. We'll send hospital and fireships right away

Why do other nations keep referring to you as the Kingdom of Fourhearts?

Because we were Fourhearts back in 2006. We changed to Havensky when we got back on Nationstates in 2008.

Who is this Jessica Heart I keep hearing about?

Jessica was a nurse aboard one of our hospital airships when it was attacked by Kraven. They tortured her and used her for medical experiments. She managed to escape and use her new abilities to free other nations. This made her a national hero. She is probably our most memorable character to date.

Minister of International Affairs Alexandria Scarletwing

Birthplace: Port Hope, Havensky

Family: Alexandria lives with her wife Anna in Crystal City.

Education: B.A. in International Affairs at the University of Havensky, Masters in Diplomacy from Xirnium National University

Employment: Prior to being appointed Minister by the Skyan Senate, Mrs. Scarletwing was Ambassador-at-Large to the Great Region of Texas. Scarletwing earned her diplomatic stripes by helping to coordinate international relief efforts as part as Havensky's White Fleet.

Background: Minister Scarletwing is a dedicated public servant who rose up the ranks of the Skyan Diplomatic corp for two reasons. One is her fierce defense of human rights. Minister Scarletwing has no trouble telling high-ranking ministers of other nations exactly what they don't want to hear. The other trait she is famous for is her hard-charing mannerisms. (Which sometimes gets translated as a temper)

Fun facts: Minister Scarletwing's offices are actually on the airship H.R.A. Skyan Emissary

Politics: A fierce feminist, liberal, and defender of political and civil rights.

Titles: Minister of International Affairs, Ambassador-at-Large to the Great Region of Texas

Interests: Classical Music, Rollerderby, Martial Arts
