Gay marriages....now what about siblings parents or animals?

I feel like It's going to come up sooner or later.

As far as I can tell, Liberals are pushing for more and more civil liberties (which isn't necessarily a good or bad thing) and eventually, this is going to come up. Years ago, inter racial marriages were unacceptable, and I'm sure gay marriage was just...unthinkable at the point. Now, we have inter racial marriage, and gay marriage is starting to rise in most of the world except for a few nations that are refusing to let go.

But what next? What about a man and his dog? Should they get married? Or what about a man and his son? Or a brother and sister? When is it too much? How far are people going to be allowed? What should be allowed? I'm personally undecided on the issue of what a marriage really means, but what do you guys think about sibling, inter special or other kinds of bizarre civil unions?

I see nothing wrong with marriages between relatives or polygamous/polyandrous marriages. Whatever any number of competent adults consent to do with each other is nobody's business but their own.

Inter-special marriage is a completely different thing though.

There is a major problem with the interfamily marriages (especially those between say a mother and son or such with 2 generations in it)

Taxes.

Spouse gets all the deceased's assets tax-free upon death. Talk about a wonderful way of skirting all those shitty inheritance taxes. It's sad it has to be brought up, but people will take advantage of it.

Which just serves to emphasize how fucked up the marriage-tax relation is.

But, other than that I see no issue with two* consenting people getting together. If animals could consent I'd have no issue with that either, but as they are incapable of such consent (or at the very least incapable of communicating any such consent to a human) then that's no bueno.

If you can show me an instance where there are a rally of dogs and cats holding signs asking for equality concerning marriage, I may feel sympathetic. Til then...

Right. Well if you can get a non-human animal to meaningfully consent in some demonstrable fashion, be my guest. I'm not sure how you would do that, but fine. Give it a Harkness test, then enjoy.

As for incest. Sure. As long as everyone is of age and consenting, knock yourselves out.

Neither of these are likely to ever be very popular choices. Bestiality for the above reason, and incest because... although hot in concept... most people just are attracted to their close relatives. Some degree of incest aversion seems to be innate in human beings.
