The Judicial Branch of Parlement consists of the Palais de Justice whose 11 judges are appointed for lifelong terms by the Chancellor with Superior Council approval; it is the highest court in Maurepas, and has the power to interpret laws, and can overturn laws they deem unconstitutional.

Augarundus has no 'supreme court' as the state is divided into a Parliament and an Executive administration headed by the Kanzler. The highest court in Augarundus 'Die Kampfkourt der Augaria' is only a simple place of major legal issues, usually senators or generals suing one another over a misinterpretation of protocol. The Republic of TurtleShroom is known for its intertwining of branches.

TurtleShroom has several different forms of supreme courts.

• First off is the Supreme General Court of TurtleShroom (or just the Supreme Court, also the High Court), consisted of democratically elected judges. The Chief Justice of the Court is called the Judgemaster, who is also equivalent to the Speaker of the House in RL USA. It functions near identically to the RL USA's supreme court, except that its decisions can be reversed or overruled by the Chancellors or by four-sevenths of the population signing a petition. There are four Justices and the Judgemaster.
  
• Second is the Grand Alcoholic Tribunal, or GAT, which is the supreme court for alcohol and Prohibition manenrs. TurtleShroom's Prohibition is enshrined by its Constitution, and, coupled with the privatized prisons (a NS issue), can actually handle the capacity of criminals and booze users. Alcohol courts are seperate circuits of the Juducial branch. Alcohol courts have sole power over all Prohibition-related crimes, and are famous for their beer-colored robes (that distint amber color) with white trim and empty wine glasses upon their heads. The GAT is only called to order when a high-profile case needs tro be settled. Convicts can stand before the GAT if the Chancellors demand transfer from the local alcohol courts to it, if the booze user is a government employee, diplomat, or CEO of a business, or if a normal case fails to be decided on after three years. Appeals can also be performed. There are seventeen Justices on this bench.
  
• Third is the Holy Marriage Trubunal. This is one of the most powerful religious bodies in TurtleShroom. Divorce requests and annulments stand before this court, where they decide if the matrimony can be terminated. Reasons for termination are outlined in the Christian Bible, as interpreted by Southern Baptists, the official state (reccomended) religion. Divorce can be obtained if spousal abuse (a crime) can be proven or if adultery (a grounds for lawsuit) can be proven. There are three hundred Justices (officially called Divorcinators), all ordained Christian preachers/pastors/clerics, of all three species, and of all denominations. They are split into groups of three to handle the huge flow of divorce and annulment demands. The Chancellors are forbidden to touch this court's decisions. Below these are the divorce circuits, which can dismiss minor divorces or refer them to who can. Appeals can be made the the HMT for more controversial divorces. All lesser courts- even divorce courts -can be overruled by the Chancellors, but they haven't used that power because it is an unholy breach of the freedom of conscience. Over the years, the HMT has greatly extended its power from its constitutional permissions to governing any decency or morality law. The "divorce" court circuit is now a "morality" circuit. Those who wish to change the decency laws or bans on TurtleShroom usually sneak into the HMT to become Chancellor-proof.

Supreme Court of the Republic
The court consists of 9 Justices, who are appointed by a vote of the national Judiciary. The vote is mandatory and any member of the Judiciary who fails to vote in the selction is immediately stripped of position, and charged with obstruction of justice, impeding the constitutional process, and infringing the civil rights of every Irysh-Finegall citizen. These charges carry the possible sentence of Death.

Once the 9 Justices of the Supreme Court of the Republic have been selected they vote among themselves who will lead the court.

The Court is the highest tribunal in the Nation for all cases and controversies arising under the Constitution or the laws of the Republic. As the final arbiter of the law, the Court is charged with ensuring the Irysh-Finegall people the promise of equal justice under law and, thereby, also functions as guardian and interpreter of the Constitution.

The complex role of the Supreme Court in this system derives from its authority to:
invalidate legislation or executive actions which, in the Courts considered judgment, conflict with the Constitution. This power of judicial review has given the Court a crucial responsibility in assuring individual rights, as well as in maintaining a living Constitution whose broad provisions are continually applied to complicated new situations.

The Supreme Court of the republic oaths to defend the Constitution, above all else, this therefore oaths the Supreme Court of the republic to defend the Rights and Will ofthe people of the nation as whole.

The Supreme Court of the Republic is special in that it is the only Court capable of over turning Legislation of executive action based on its Constitutional legitimacy.

Rulemaking Power. Congress has from time to time conferred upon the Supreme Court of the Republic the power to prescribe rules of procedure to be followed by the lower courts of the Republic.

The first 9 justices of our Supreme Court are named in the 2009 Constitution. They are former Commandant Simon Lomax and 8 other leading revolutionaries from the brief one-party dictatorship. We have a High Court, which has nationwide jurisdiction, the right to hear appeals from lower courts and the authority to dismiss legislation as unconstitutional. It has 9 justices, three of each gender. They are appointed by the Triumvirate for 18 year terms, staggered so that a new justice is up for appointment with each two-year Consular and Assembly session. The Grand Assembly does not get to approve the Triumvirate's choice; instead, our Constitution allows them to draw up a list of candidates first, and the Triumvirate is required to choose a justice from that list.

Rejistania has a constitutional court. It consists of 15 judges each from one of 3 esaku'het'ny (federal, nantical and rekijonal). Appointment is for life or retirement. When a judge retires (or leaves the world behind), the parliament of the respective esaku'het appoints the successor.

The Royal Constitutional Court:
6 Justices, 1 Chief Justice - two from the National Administrative District and one from each borough. Each one is elected by popular vote to a single 12 year term. If one dies in office the senior most Justice of the Royal Criminal Court will fill the vacancy until the next election.

The Royal Supreme Court:
6 Justices, 1 Chief Justice - two from the National Administrative District and one from each borough. Each one is elected by popular vote to a single 14 year term. If one dies in office the senior most Justice of the Royal Civil Court will fill the vacancy until the next election.

RCC = constitutional issues such as those pertaining to the Bill of Rights & Freedoms and Declaration of Foundation.
RSC = highest court of appeals for lower civil and criminal court decisions.

Our equivalent to a supreme court is a little different.
We have 12 judges, however, only 3 take the seats at the head of our highest court at a time. There is a rotation every 2 years, with exemptions made for ongoing cases.
The other 9 judges not active on the highest court are placed on smaller courts to deal with issues still important, but not as dire as those taken to the highest court.
Only in cases of impeachment do all 12 justices sit on the court at one time.
