World Hit Festival Website [Euski/Kalosia, Only Posters]

Postby Euskirribakondara » Sat Mar 16, 2013 11:11 am

The only authorized poster here is Euskirribakondara. Contact him for any comment or suggestion; or post in the discussion thread of the ongoing edition. This website is meant to provide all information concerning WHF (World Hit Festival) artists, editions, rules, entries, news and more.

How to use the interactive website?
Click on the buttons below to access the different pages of the website. We also have a new 'search' feature through a tag system. In the upper left corner of this post you can find the 'search' box. Place the word 'whf[country]' to find the news related to that country.... as in 'whfeuskirribakondara' or 'whfworszary'. When a country's name has more than one word, place no spaces between them, 'whfwilfredtest' or 'whfcostafiero' are good examples. However, there are two exceptions... 'whfquebec' and 'whfbialogorze'. 'whfkalosia' and 'whfmediterra' work interchangeably.

There are also other three special tags: 'whfhost' (related to information and/or details about the hosts of the ongoing edition), 'whfvenue' (related to the venue of the ongoing edition), and 'whfinterview' (interviews to the artists). There's also a tag like 'whfnarsaattoq' (whf+ name of the host city), related to the venues and places around the host city that have something to do with the ongoing edition.

How to comment?
As you may see, the new website features a section of 'featured comments' on each news article. To submit a comment, send a TG to Euskirribakondara with your comment and the title of the article you're commenting on.

There's lacking/wrong information...
If you spot any mistakes or any lacks of information in which you can collaborate, send a TG to Euskirribakondara with the proper information. And in advance, thanks.

Excuse us
For posts with missing information. As established before, the site is currently on construction.

Welcome!

How does it work?
Overview
The World Hit Festival was created by Bialogorze and Czarnorzecze (previously Saintrabina) to celebrate a festival that gathered several nations of the world in a spirit of joy and fair play around music. Since WHF6, Euskirribakondara has been in charge of overseeing and organizing the contest, bringing a greater number of contestants and interesting novelty features. WHF (the commonly-used acronym) bears a different format to that of the Worldvision Song Contest, the other international song contest of the multiverse; and according to current estimates, it is broadcasted in 40 countries and watched by almost 1 billion people. Each country is represented by an active participating broadcaster.

Broadcasters
Each participating broadcaster is responsible for all that concerns the entry of the country they're representing. They can choose to do a national final or an internal selection (or a combination of both) and they decide the rules for them. They also participate making decisions about the future of an edition or the contest itself. There can only be ONE participating broadcaster (or broadcasting group) for a country. They must submit their entries to the host country before a certain deadline (generally one month, or so, before the night of the final).

Artists and Songs
The songs have no restriction regarding duration, language or genre;. The amount of people that can perform the entry have a limit at discretion of the host (though it has usually been unlimited). And the artists themselves have practically no restriction.... Any artist of any age, of any ethnic group can represent any country (however, some countries put limits of the nationality of the performers). In fact, we've had artists as young as 13 (Bree Smyth, WHF7) and as old as 68 (Totó Sambakileué, WHF7).

Voting
The voting system is a trademark of the World Hit Festival. The public (and in most countries, a jury as well) votes for/rates all the participating songs, and only the top five is awarded points from each country. With one point going to the least favourite song, and five points going to the super-favourite of all; but a country cannot vote for its own entry. To determine the winner, all the points from all the countries are added up, and the one with most point wins. Ties are broken with: the number of countries that voted for that entry; number of 5-pts received; number of 4-pts received, and so on. If there's still a tie, both countries will be declared winners, and the hosting rights will be decided by a draw.

Hosting Rights
In the World Hit Festival, the hosting rights go to the winner of the past edition. This rule was officially established in WHF7, but was also a de facto rule for WHF2 and WHF5. In the event the winning country declines the opportunity to host the next contest, the hosting rights will go to the runner-up. If the same thing happens here, the rights go to the 3rd place and so on, until the 5th place. If the 5th place also declines to host, the hosting rights will be mandatory for the contest overseer.

Overseer
There's an overseer for the World Hit Festival that changes each cycle of the contest. A cycle is composed by 5 or 4 editions (a year, roughly); and when in charge, an overseer must pay attention to every detail of the organization of the contest. They must decide on the issues that arouse about the contest, and if they wish so, they can ask for the opinion of all the other participating broadcasters. They must also make everyone and everything comply with the rules of the contest. The overseers, also should maintain an official website (like this one) to keep worldwide updates about the contest.

WHF1 - WHF5 (Season 1): Saintrabina
WHF6 - WHF10 (Season 2): Euskirribakondara
WHF11 - WHF14 (Season 3): Euskirribakondara
WHF15 - WHF20 (Season 4): Kalosia

Special Editions
There are two types of special editions that can occur in parallel to the WHF normal editions. One is the Junior Edition, that takes place each 5 'senior' editions, starting from WHF11. The other one is the Grand Special Edition, that takes place every 15 editions (starting from the end of WHF15); whose first installment will be called 'One Passion, Two Moments, Fifteen Contests'.

Junior World Hit Festival (JWHF)
It has almost the same rules as the senior edition, but here are the exceptions:
1. The songs must have 50% of its lyrics in the national language of the nation it is representing.
2. The entrants must be between 7 and 15 years of age by the date of the contest.
3. In the live performance, there must not be more than six people on stage. All of them abiding by the above rule.
4. The topics of the song must be related to childhood and early teenage years.
5. Adults can collaborate in the creative process of the song, but kids must be the main authors of the song.

Special Edition (One Passion, Two Moments, Fifteen Contests)
The rules about this edition will be released soon; it will take place during July 2014.

Logo and Slogan
Another thing that caracterizes the World Hit Festival is its generic logo, in place since WHF7. The host country must adapt that generic version to fit its culture and the theme for each edition (which is also a tradition and changes every edition). The generic logo is meant to look modern, simple and be easily remembered. The D of WORLD represents music with its shape of musical note, and the flag of a participating country must appear inside it. The size of the letters also shows that the main characteristic of the contest is the fact it is global. The base colour is black, to allow a better and easier customization. Here's an image of the generic logo and the logos and slogans of previous editions.

THIS POST IS FOR THE SECTION OF "LANGUAGES".

The World Hit Festival has had eighteen editions completed so far, in which 359 songs competed. 152 countries have participated, and only 12 of them have won (Astrolinium, Chámelíyá, Chenkorya, Communist Quinntopia, Ekoz, Euskirribakondara, Folkand, Khanastan, Kingsley Bedford, Normandy and Picardy, Phoenigetuzstha and Saintrabina, F.F.R.). The average number of entries by edition is of about 20 songs. More than 150 languages have also been featured, showing the high cultural diversity of all the countries. In these pages you'll discover more about the history of the contest. You may also check out the NSWiki article about the contest, or the ancient webpage (WHF7 - WHF10).

WHF Rankings
These rankings are based on a simple algorithm that rates each participating country according to the success (final position achieved) it had throughout all the editions. Fans and media shall not take these rankings into account for anything BUT a historical comparison of results. The lower the score, the higher the position in the rankings, indicating the 'best' countries, in terms of results, throughout the history of the World Hit Festival.

TBU.
