I would like to lend my support, both in and out of character, to this organization. I've seen more traction happen for me in Global Economics and Trade than virtually any other subforum over the last year and a half, simply because of how integral Designwerks has become to the history and politics of my nation.

After spending the last few months building and getting back into the RP game, there have been a few unintentional, and extremely positive, dividends that have come from sticking to GE&T. Because of some unintended consequences with a customer in one of my storefronts, a simple economic exchange has formed the core of a fledgling diplomatic story which could subtly change larger political directions in my nation.

Along the same lines, one of the most entertaining RP's I've been involved with in recent memory was the economic blockade of Gholgoth. Despite the RP petering out after a few weeks, it was one of those watershed moments that triggered a flurry of activity between dozens of people and showed just how deeply NS, II, and GE&T can be interconnected with the right actors.

Having an organization where different players in the international economy can mingle outside of their respective storefronts would be a great locus for storylines like that, among other sources of intrigue and competition, to spring up organically.

Regarding restrictions, I am well aware of many similar restrictions being roleplayed by other potential members, and I am well aware of the problems which this will bring to the organisation. That is why I am fully intending (or at least hope) that this organisation will be a flexible organisation, one that can adapt with time instead of following through a strict set of unchanging rules.

If it seems trade restrictions on national level will put much restriction on the possibility of potential members to join this group, we can then perhaps reduce any IC requirements for joining us (with the exception of at least OOC-wise being able to write decently, doesn't have to be really good writers as I myself am not a really good writer, but at least decently) for now, and focused instead on making this an organisation where nations with like-minded characteristics may hang out with one another OOC-wise and IC-wise have some sort of connections with one another.

Open-mindedness and the willingness to be flexible I have found is the key for that to happen, and I am positive that we all can make this work. I have the feeling of exactly just that when I suddenly came across this idea thirty minutes ago, and decided to give it a try. However, this will not be my idea anymore - it will now be your idea, and the ideas of other potential members, as we dwell on what sort of group we want to develop with this.

But as I said, I think that the willingness to be open-minded in regard to not just how one see the interconnection between NS, II and Ge&T, but also to other commerce and trade matters, are surely good assets.

Yes. Just because we are all in this together does not mean that we don't compete with one another - in fact, I would hope that in the incoming group, there will be a few bloc opposing one another or so due to conflicting interests, IC-wise.

Yes, you are free to voice your thought, or anything you might have in this thread. Whether you think it is right or wrong is not that important, as all of us will be able to discuss it together and agree or disagree with one another. The most important thing is that any thought which you might have can be voiced openly for everyone to read, and respond to.

A very good idea, in my opinion.
I don't have any storefront or any kind of business activity at the moment (although, I'm starting to think about it), but I would be interested in joining the OECD.
New Tarajan has a strong economy, and I could provide the organization with diplomatic and political aid and support, organizing conferences and other kinds of summit too.
Also, since I wrote many international treaties, I could provide the OECD also a Founding Charter (or a similar agreement).

Personally, I believe it would be a great idea also to have a forum out of the game, where to better organize and discuss.

I'm generally opposed to the idea of offsite forums; I know I, for one, don't like to commit myself to more forums than I'm already on, and plenty of people have expressed similar opinions in the past. I don't think we'd need much more than an OOC thread.
