Geography

Location: The Continent of Agonartha, Agonarthis Terra. The northernmost nation on the massive super-continent Agonartha, it shares borders with Dargovezna, Soviet Zackrastan and Fragnatha. It has maritime borders with Esus and Tarvos, and Dargovezna. It is surrounded by the North Sea, the Great Ocean and the Sea of Allbeam.

Total Land Area: Approximately 14,400 Square Miles.

Climate: The overall climate of Agonarthis Terra is generally Earth like though it is slightly warmer overall comparatively speaking. The Republic is comparable to the region of Scandinavia on Earth, climate wise, but the year runs generally warmer than in the Scandinavian nations of Earth.
Allbeama has a temperate climate, despite its northern latitude, with four distinct seasons and mild temperatures throughout the year. The country can be divided into three types of climate; the southernmost part has an oceanic climate, the central part has a humid continental climate and the northernmost part has a sub-arctic climate.

On average, most of Allbeama receives between 500 and 800 mm (20 and 31 in) of precipitation each year.

Elevation extremes: Mount Asgard is the highest point at 2,111-m (6,926 ft) above sea level. The lowest point is Nifleheim Vale at -2.41 m (−7.91 ft) below sea level.

Natural resources: Iron, Copper, and other ores. Uranium deposits, lumber, hydropower are major resources of Allbeama as well.

Terrain: Allbeama has a stunning array of natural features. We have wondrous glacial fjords and lakes. Great alpine mountains, lush pinewood forests, and great northern tundra. The scenery draws a number of nature lovers as tourists.

A Brief History of Allbeama
What follows is a brief history of the Republic and it role in Agonarthan affairs. The dates are based on the Agonarthan Calendar, and are formatted as such. ACY= Agonarthan Calendar Year. BAC=Before the Agonarthan Calender.

Ancient Times (~3000 years BAC—1000 ACY)

Not much is known about Ancient Agonartha, but it is known that many tribes roamed the Continent and vied for resources. Among these were the four that would form the core ethnic makeup of Allbeaman culture, the Germanii, the Rus, and the Norsvikngir, and Anglosaxi. They were warlike tribes that fought for generations against each other, the Esii, the Tarvii, and the Romani. They all believed in similar gods of war and courage, and held as the highest value a glorious death in battle.

A Tribal King Forges a Nation (circa 1010 ACY)

A warlord of exceptional worth rose after many ages of strife and bloodshed to unite the four tribes as one great nation. He was known as Siegfried of Albemeia, and he is the progenitor of the Von Siegfried lineage of the Allbeam family. He fought a series of wars and conquered many tribal cheiftains in his campaign to build an empire out of his petty kingdom of Albemeia. He was crowned as Emperor of the newly founded Empire of Albemeia. His reign was a glorious golden age of legend. Historians consider him the founder of the nation that exists today, though this is a subject of some contention among scholars.

The Imperial Age (1010 ACY—1764 ACY)

A succession of really competent and fair rulers followed Siegfried’s reign for several generations. In 1347 A usurper named Gothus, Baron Kilvayne raised an army of bandits, thieves, mercenaries and assassins to rebel against the rule of then Emperor Octavian Von Seigfried. Octavian had made a number of laws unfavorable to the landed aristocracy, and gave much benefit to the emerging merchant class. Gothus caused much damage through his tactics of guerilla warfare, subterfuge, well placed assassinations and outright force when appropriate. But valor and honor won the conflict, and the Imperial Knights defeated Gothus. The Baron of Kilvayne was beheaded for crimes against the crown and the people.

From about 1456 ACY—1764 ACY, a major paradigm shift occurred in the nation. The Emperors began to favor policies that raised the new merchant class up as the true lords of the nation. The landed nobility had essentially lost power by now, but the lower classes were not satisfied that there lot had not improved under the new system. The Merchant Princes and the Guilds were de facto law in the nation now known as the Imperial Republic of Allbeama. The last straw came in 1764 when the Imperial Senate passed legislation that severely taxed any goods not produced under Guild control. There was an uprising that effectively ended the Guilds forever. This uprising is often called the Guildbane Revolution.

The Industrial Age (circa 1765 ACY—1900 ACY)

This period saw the rise of modern industrial systems and vast advancement in technology and science. It was an age of advancement and saw the accruement of wealth on a scale not seen before the Industrial Revolution. Factories became seeds for new cities and towns, and population grew. There was a dark side to this time however.

The rise of large businesses was detrimental to the common man, in that working conditions were poor. The terrible treatment of workers and the growing gaps between the rich and the poor sparked a movement to protect worker’s rights. The avant-garde philosopher Hans Kriegels influenced this movement by publishing his scathing critique of the world he saw before him, entitled Gears in a Machine of Evil. This is seen as the Agonarthan equivalent to the Communist Manifesto or Das Kapital written by Karl Marx.

This era also saw the abdication of the last Emperor, who left as his last decree, an opportunity for greater self rule by declaring that henceforth Allbeama was a free and democratic Republic: it was to be a nation whose destiny was truly in the hands of its people.

By 1900 ACY there were widespread movements to make the world more free and equal, and to implement progressive policies that would combat poverty, ignorance, and disease.

The Progressive Era (1900 ACY—1940 ACY)
A plethora of reform movements define this era: The Women’s Liberation movement, the Health Care Reform movement, the Education Reform movement, The Gay Rights movement, and the Labor Reform movement being the major forces at this time. Long campaigns by activists and political leaders lead to legislation that made the nation more progressive over time. The most influential leader of the Allbeaman Progressive Reform Party was Olaf Johanson, an outspoken philosopher and political activist.

The Modern Era (1940 ACY—2000 ACY)


The Modern Era began with the discovery of nuclear fission in 1940 ACY by Gottwulf Von Hessenstauff, an Agonarthan Germanii Physicist at the University of Hadrias of the Agonarthan Confederacy. The technology was swiftly proliferated throughout Agonartha.

In 1945 ACY, War broke at as extremist alliances of provincial governments seceded from the Allbeaman Republic. The Great Secession War raged on for the next 5 years, before armistice was called and peace talks were convened in the neutral nation of Zackrastan. At the conclusion of the talks, all three warring factions signed the Treaty of Zackrastovad. Territory controlled by the Seperatist Alliance, led by Victor Fragnathius, was officially recognized as The Imperial Dominion of Fragnatha. Territory controlled by the Swords of Dargolex, a faction led by Vinzengar Dargo the Holy Prophet of Dargolex, was officially recognized as the Grand Republic Imperium of Dargovezna. The Republic of Allbeama ceded the lands to the extremist factions for sake of ending the conflict, and stipulated that the two factions must refrain from hostile actions against the Republic.

Recent Events (2000 ACY— 2010 ACY)

In 2000 ACY the world was brought into a new age by the discovery of faster than light travel. The research endeavor was multinational and as such the technologies were shared.

The next few years saw the rise of a terrorist organization known only as The Legion of Scourge, who appear to be led by a mad superhuman known only as “The Scourge”. The Scourge and the Legion are Allbeama’s most wanted criminal organization at present.

In the 2009 Fiscal year, Kilvayne Research Enterprises Incorporated posted record- breaking profits in a variety of Science and Technology industries. This year the company is under pending investigation of charges that KRE illicitly dealt arms to the nations of Fragnatha and Dargovezna, as well as to the Legion of Scourge.

The current Chancellor Trevor Von Siegfried Allbeam won a landslide victory in the emergency off year elections in the wake of the previous Chancellor’s assassination at the hands of a mysterious killer. The previous Chancellor was Hadrian Von Siegfried Allbeam, Trevor’s uncle.

Chancellor Allbeam has continued the progressive policies that make Allbeama the country that it is, and he plans to grow Allbeama’s role in global and galactic politics.
He has made connections in the nation of Almajoya to date, and hopes to expand the list of allies and trading partners for his nation.

The Republic is currently awaiting the gala affair that the Chancellor’s Masquerade Ball promises to be. It is an event being held at Seigfried Hall, in Allbeamsgard, in honor of the Chancellor’s birthday.
