If you’re going to TG me to say something completely mindless that has no point, then I’ll ignore you, and possibly add you to my block list. No warnings, and very few second chances will be handed out. Simple as that.

Updates to the factbook shall be done whenever I feel like it. If someone has a complaint about my factbook, and if i decide that the complaint is actually important, Then I will remain in contact with the complainee until a resolution is sorted out.

Now, I’d like to introduce all viewers to The Factbook of the Grand United Peoples of Malikov.

Relative location: The Grand United Peoples of Malikov is located within the region of Azhukali. It is located north of the Pudite Empire, north-west of Ustio, and West of Prycuse. It is the first nation encoutered in the north-western waters of Azhukali.

Absolute location: Undetermined

Area: 1,206,483 sqkm (749,708.5 sqmi)

Comparative area: N/A

Bordering nations: N/A

Coastline Length: 20,694 km (12,859.25 mi)

Maritime claims:

Territorial Waters (12 nautical miles): 727.5 sqkm (392.82 sqmi)

Contiguous Waters (24 nautical miles): 1013.85 sqkm (555.53 sqmi)

Exclusive Economic Waters (200 nautical miles): 2926.75 sqkm (1603.7 sqmi)

Terrain: Malikov, with its large northern mountain range, has weather systems, and thus terrain, that varies greatly over the entire country. There are multiple rivers that come down out of the ice-capped mountains, which dominate the northern portion of Malikov, essentially creating a twenty-thousand high barrier of rock and ice. There are, officially, no islands within Malikov territory.

The northern territory of Trew rests at the base of a massive mountain range, (which spans from the East coast, to the West coast, of Malikov) under which lie massive reserves of oil. As such, Trew is relatively under populated, when compared to its larger Southern cousins.

The Eilodon mountain range is very mineral rich, but also very perilous. The mountain range is incredibly high, an average height of 21,672 feet, almost reaching as high as 26,000 feet in some places. Avalanches are a problem year round, particularly in the summer months. The mountains are mined heavily for their minerals, as the number of people living there (and thus affected by the impact of heavy mining) are greatly reduced.

The Southern territory’s in Malikov are perfect for farming, thanks to multiple freshwater streams that pour out of the northern mountains. The soil is incredibly fertile, and the weather provides a year round growing season for farmers (if they plant the correct crops). The southern area of Malikov is divided into three provinces. Farthest east is Herra, which is centred around the Eastern Bay. Teraff is farthest west, and encompasses Malikovs Western shore, which extends into the West Gulf. The middle territory, called Vokilam, rests in the heart of Malikov. A large river runs down the territory, which meets up with a few smaller rivers in the far south, and forms a small, but treacherous, marshland, which runs horizontally across the southern coast for roughly ten miles in either direction.

Climate: Malikov, being a large country, has weather systems unique to each geographic area of the country. The east and west coasts have very benign weather systems, attributed to its proximity to large cold freshwater sources (ie. The Western Gulf, The Eastern Bay). Precipitation levels remain average there, and the winters are rarely snowy. During the summer, temperatures rarely peak over 20 degree’s Celsius.

The Eilodon remains snow-locked year round, making farming impossible. Winter time can see up to four feet of snow in the foothills on a bad day, and up to ten feet on the mountain side. Temperatures rarely peak above freezing, save during the summer months, during which the snow is turned into runoff, and drains into southerly running rivers.

The central portion of Malikov receives very little precipitation, though large rivers crisscrossing the land provide more than enough freshwater for the inhabitants. Temperatures here area generally the most varied in the country. During the winter, temperatures are generally quite cold, dropping regularly to -30, while during the summer, temperatures commonly hit +30.

Malikov’s generally cold climate is due mainly to the prevailing winds, and the Eilodon range. West winds drive off of the Eilodon range, and meet oncoming East winds, that would normally drive across Malikov in an East-to-West direction. This point of oncoming forces drives the warmer East winds farther south, while dropping their temperature in the meantime, before they begin to curl back in on themselves and rejoin the Western winds. This results in a loop, which drives cooling winds throughout the whole of Malikov, dropping the temperature far lower than that of its neighbours. Therefore, the borders of Malikov are much colder then the center, as the winds affect it much less.

Elevation extremes: The highest point in Malikov would be ice-capped mountain of Deman, which extends 7,747m (25,416.62ft) into the sky. Mount Deman is located within the Eilodon mountain range that runs the length of Malikov’s northern borders. The lowest point in Malikov is the Abyssal Canyon, though one can hardly call it abyssal. It drops roughly 500 meters below sea level, and is located roughly fifty miles offshore, in the Western Gulf.

Natural resources: Malikov’s mineral riddled mountains, fertile farmland, and large fishing industry are the major natural resources that the United Peoples exploit.

A large mountain range covers the entire northern border in the United peoples, and is filled with all kinds of precious minerals, such as gold, platinum, and iron. As well, copious amounts of oil and coal have been found in, and underneath, the mountains foothills, most of which is not exported but used for Malkovian projects. Deep within the mountain range are large gem mines, the rarest, but also most difficult to mine, being diamonds of incredible purity.

In the southern territories of Malikov almost two thirds of the moist, mineral rich soil is devoted to farmland. Major crops include wheat, canola, and almost all types of grain. Major herds include dairy cows, meat cows, and some types of sheep. Horse farms are few and far between. The United Peoples is completely self sufficient off of its own crops and herds.

The gulf on the western side of Malikov is filled with all kinds of fish, and strict fishing laws keep it that way. Still, through diligence monitoring, and breeding programs, large amounts of fish are caught each year, although none of it is exported to keep the cost of fish down within the United Peoples.

Land use: Malikov is divided into roughly two different geological areas, though each of these areas have their own unique districts, devoted to different parts of Malikov’s economic structure.

Trew provides Malikov with all necessary raw minerals, and local factories and production facilities, ensure that metalwork goods are of a local origin. Raw minerals, as well as some processed materials, are exported in large quantities from Trew. Due to Trew’s relative under population, it is also used as the major military training ground for new Malkovian recruits.

Herra is where the major city centres are located. As Herra borders a large bay, with Prycuse gaurding any approach from the East, almost all of Malikov’s luxury items are imported, and exported, through here.

Vokilam is the major breadbasket of Malikov, accounting for more than seventy-five percent of all crops, both vegetable and grain. Utilization of the multiple rivers running out of the north provide the entire territory with ready access to large amounts of fresh water, which are vital to maintain the large number of crop farmers.

Teraff is the major importer, and exporter, of non-luxury items, such as heavy equipment, automobiles, factory equipment, ect. Large factories in the northern regions make good use of the mountain ranges various minerals. These raw goods are shipped all over the world, making Teraff the economical backbone of Malikov. The south-east of Teraff is devoted to livestock, very little of which is exported. As well, there is a booming fishing industry in Teraff, although laws have been enacted to prohibit the sale of any fish caught within Malkovian waters, to any non-Malkovian nation, or citizen.

Irrigated land: Malikov’s crop farms are mostly located in Vokilam, with a few in the far west reaches of Herra. Water runs down out of the northern mountains year round, though during the winter water levels drop significantly. Farmers plant low maintenance crops during this time, ones that require little water, and are well adapted to harsh conditions. During the summer water floods down through Vokilam, and the real harvest season begins. Crops receive all water necessary for maximum growth potential. Most of the water is stored in large man-made lakes, and is released during times of drought. Locals joke with each other that if global-warming was real they’ll all need to buy boats in a few years, or they’ll all drown.

Natural hazards: Malikov is home to very few natural disasters. The only one that has any presence is the ever present hazard that is the mountain range. The northern mountain range can be quite deadly. Rockslides and avalanches occur year round, though due to the lack of human habitation the losses these occurrences incur are minimal. The unique weather pattern around Malikov generally sweeps foreign weather systems away from Malikov, though the outer ranges will sometimes receive odd weather. The Western Gulf of Malikov is protected from tsunamis, and tidal waves, by natural land barriers that are wide enough to prevent any waves of danger from reaching the mainland. The Eastern Bay while not protected by any land barriers, is at the very back of a deep harbour. For a tsunami to hit the eastern shores, it would have to be extremely powerful, as most wear themselves out on the north and south shores coming in, as well as accurately aimed, or it would expend itself on non-Malkovian shores.

Environmental issues: Malikov is currently not facing any major environmental issues, although many environmental activist group have criticized the amount of carbon gases released by Malkovian factories, and production facilities. However, due to scientific inquiry groups that have investigated the environmental impacts these emissions have on the environment, and populous of Malikov, these claims are generally dismissed. Studies have shown that the weather patterns around Malikov drive the gases almost immediately from Malkovian airspace, and that so called “global warming” is a completely natural event, virtually free from human interference. Attempts to accelerate, and slow the effects of global warming, result in a lot of wasted money, and as such, the United Peoples decide not to waste any money on it.

Current Environmental Agreements: Malikov is currently in no environmentally binding contracts with any other nations, or organizations.

Economic structure: Malikov center’s its economy around private enterprise, mining of natural resources, agriculture, fishing, and various government jobs, such as post delivery, healthcare, and government, to name a few. The majority of Malkovian citizens are participants of the agricultural sector, with the industrial sector employing the second most.

Gross domestic product: $44,288,118,046,630.00 GS
GDP per capita: $30,712.98 GS
Population below poverty line: 1.5%
Unemployment rate: 2.56%
Income tax rate: 10%
Inflation rate: 1%
Labour force: 1,361,248,000
Budget: $442,881,180,466.30 GS

Electricity: Electricity in the United Peoples is provided from a multiple sources, each source conforming to better exploit the natural tendencies of the land. The outer areas, areas where Malikov’s unique winds blow by, utilize windfarms as the primary electricity source. However, due to the unpredictability of the weather, there are also fossil fuel powered generators. However, due to Malikov’s constant wind patterns, these generators are generally only fired up once a year, during periods of meteorological inactivity.

The territory of Trew has the highest energy needs, due to the number of industrial plants, and so the Malkovian government has installed several new nuclear reactors, deep within the Eilodon mountain range. State of the art, and strictly monitored, these plants provide all the power needed for citizens and companies in Trew. The results of a nuclear meltdown in Malikov would be disastrous at best, and therefore the United Peoples have initiated some of the strictest safety guidelines within the entire international community.

Herra and Teraff employ similar methods, most energy being generated by windfarms, and hydro-electric power, aided by their proximity to such large bodies of water. There are a few, small, fossil fuel powered plants stationed farther inland, where there is a lack of hydro power, though these are rarely used. Even the farthest most inland areas of the United Peoples have steady winds, which provide for the territory’s energy almost year round.

Voliklam, being at the center of Malikov, has greatly reduced winds, making wind farms virtually useless, save in the southern-most portions. However, due to the large amount of water that runs down through Vokilam, due to the run-off from the Eilodon mountains, a surprising amount of hydro-electric power can be generated. During the winter though, when the water flow is much less then the summer, a number of power plants are turned on around the country to assist the hydro-electric generators, and used until a point when the hydro-electric generators can maintain the territory on its own.

Natural gas: Natural gas is used primarily to heat private dwellings during the winter time, and for some power plants in the southern territory’s. Many of the homes in Malikov are eco-friendly, thanks to recent (not to mention expensive) changes in government policy. Large business generally install electric heaters, due to the excess of such an eco-friendly resource.

Oil: Due to oil refineries on the mainland, Malikov produces its own oil based products, and has eliminated the need to import oil. As Malikov doesn’t use oil for heating, the only uses it has are in consumer goods, and gasoline. Malikov’s strict carbon laws ensure that every vehicle is as fuel efficient as possible, without compromising its intended use. The oil reserves in Malikov are expected to run dry in the year 2360 at the current rate of consumption, due to strict consumption control laws and a ban on any oil-product exports, which gives more then ample time to find alternative energy sources.

Agricultural products: The Malkovian agricultural sector primarily produces beef, milk products, wheat, canola-based products, various other grains crops (including maize, barely, millet, oats, rye, and buckwheat), as well as honey. Malikov’s agricultural sector is massive, as it produces enough food to fully sustain the United Peoples, while still maintaining a steady supply of exports.

Exports: Yearly, Malkovian exports result in roughly $5,280,841,780,048.25 GS worth of revenue, and when balanced against imports, results in a combined profit of $65,965,273,820.75 GS. Traded commodities consist of products such as raw minerals, agricultural produce, and various raw or refined oil based products. The Malkovian government’s only interference within the economic system is the prohibitation of any company’s trading out of Malikov to consort with any leftist nations.

Imports: Yearly, Malkovian imports cost roughly $5,214,876,506,227.50, with products being received consisting mainly of exotic produce, various personal affects, as well as various types of wood, as forests are one of the few things that Malikov is unable to produce.

Internal or external debt: The United Peoples are avid believers that taking and giving handouts is only contributing to national, as well as personal, debt, and as such, do not take, nor lend money, on a national level. Banks within the United Peoples never give out loans, due to government legislation allowing for the military to execute member of banking firms that do so.

Economic aid: The United Peoples do not participate in the promotion of leftist policy’s, and will do everything within their power to ensure the destruction of anyone that attempts to make such a ludicrous claim.

War From Abroad.:
Malikov was once a land of tribal farmers, cultivating their land with caring hands, and for the most part, co-operating with their tribal neighbours. No one had any desire to grow, but were content with their niche in the world, and put all their energy into maintaining a sense of stability and peace. However, as all good things, this could not last.

A warrior Chieftain, from south or east is unsure, caught wind of the relatively defenceless Malkovians, and set out with a detachment of soldiers, from the land of Airochar. Using his fierce warriors, the Chief brought the tribes of Malikov under his rule, killing off all who opposed him. After a time, a system had been established, and the Malkovian natives paid homage to the warrior chief, day in and day out. But the bowels of rebellion stewed, and soon, a plan was in motion to remove the chief from his seat of power. Some of the Chiefs most loyal bodyguards eventually discovered the plot, only days before it was set in motion, and executed the perpetrators. However, the damage had already been done, though not in the way the assassins intended.

Once the Malkovians got word, a massive civil war ensued, and ended with the Chief’s palace being stormed, and his head being placed upon a pike. It is believed that the tribal elder of the time, elected on of their own to unify Malikov from anymore external threats, like the deceased Chief. It can be assumed, that the Airocharian soldiers, and their families, remained in Malikov, oppressed for a time but eventually being given the same status of the native Malkovians.

The End Of Malikov.:

After a time, an Airocharian became monarch, and began a campaign to remove the Malkovian identity from the minds of his subjects. He shared the view point of the now legendary warrior Chief, though his plan was much more covert, and subversive. Evidence suggests that each successive monarch after this one un-named, but very influential leader, continued the underground campaign, which eventually succeeded in its goal, and managed to stamp out the Malkovian identity. The country was re-named during this time, in respect to the founder of the movement, and Malikov became Airochar.

Eventually, centuries later,, although it is un-clear what exactly happened, it is known that the monarchy fell, no doubt from a rebellion of sorts. Records of the exact event have not been recovered, although from what historians, along with palaeontologists, can piece together ,the very large lower class comprised of farmers and slaves stormed the Airocharian capital, and killed the monarch.

From this point on, Airochar was an established democracy, one of the first at the time. Democracy brought with it economic prosperity, and a promotion of civil rights. For a time, everyone was happy.

The Rebirth of Malikov:

For many centuries, democracy reigned through Airochar, and continued to hold power for almost eight hundred years. It is estimated that the day Airochar was declared a democracy was 1267, although this is a point of great controversy. It is agreed though, that sometime in the late 1200’s Airochar became one of the earliest democracies in the world.

Up until the year 1850 Airochar was at peace with itself, and the surrounding neighbours. Trade opened up around the world, new cultures were introduced, but Airochar remained fairly isolated, imposing a closed border policy to immigration. However, not wanting to be left behind in the explosion of new technology, Airochar continued trade with other nations in the world. After the discovery of dinosaur’s fossils present in Airochar, the government became very interested in the past, and began devoting great time and money to probing the past. Discoveries aside from fossilized monsters of old were found though. Up until that time, it had been forgotten to the population that the land of Airochar had originally belonged to the native Malkovian’s, identifiable from their fair features, (on average) greater intellect, and physical prowess.

A schism developed in the paleological world after the discovery of a stone tablet, detail the Airocharian warrior chief’s initial look at ancient Malkovian, and the natives that inhabited it. The news, upon reaching the view of the public, was explosive. Citizens began tracing their family trees, to determine their ethnicity. Malkovian’s refused to work with Airocharians, and drove them from their communities. Malkovian Awareness groups sprung up overnight, followed by Malkovian Separatist not a week later. Rebellion became the new fashion, and nothing could quell the uprising.

Secession Or Death!:

For close to fifty years, Malkovian separatism grew. The Airocharians however, her aghast at throwing away their country, and would not even consider the possibility of bending to the demands of the Malkovians. Then, September 25 1904, the Prime Minister made an announcement, stating that Airochar, despite having un-justly taken the land from the Malkovians, would never give the land back to them. A year later, the Malkovian Separatists, which consisted of every native Malkovian in Airochar, declared that they were seceding from Airochar, and taking Volkalim and Herra, to begin their new nation. In a little over a week, the separatists had routed all Airocharian’s from the two provinces, sparking a full out war against them, by the now weakened Airocharian army.

The war lasted less than a month, as the Malkovian’s had gained control of almost all the internal food sources available, winning the war by attrition. The Airocharian’s, rather than admit defeat loaded as many of their people as they could onto boats, and left the new Malkovian nation via the Western Gulf. The Airocharian’s that were left behind fled south through Rashuta, claiming refugee status and re-settling south of Malikov. Their current location is unknown.

A Span of Peace.:

After the United Peoples were founded, a “free democracy” was formed. Every citizen voted for the person whom they thought was best suited to run the country. Only months after its foundation, the United Peoples abolished the “free democracy”, realizing that an election would take far too long. Instead, a new system was formed, taking months before it was finished. That system is still in use today. The United Peoples were still recovering from their civil war with old-Airochar when the electoral disaster of 1950 occurred.

The infamous Orang party, after a mess of split votes, was elected into office with a 1% minority government. The Orang party held no morals, and promptly assassinated all of the Supreme Court officials, although because that same party designated the next officials, no charges were ever pressed. Soon, the Orang party, with thanks to the now corrupt Supreme court was arresting citizens left and right, executing on a whim, and destroying the country’s infrastructure. A very brief rebellion, spearheaded by the Malkovian Military and the Conservative party of Malikov, left the CP’s in power, who quickly established a set of rules for elections; a set of rules which the Progressive Liberal’s avidly disagree with (which is probably why they’ve never been elected).

Back to the Basics.:

Within the last few decades or so, There have been subtle shifts in government policy, though one would be hard pressed to find any evidence to support the fact. No, the changes were never official changes, in the way the government or country was run. It started when the Malkovian government began amassing money for a so called “emergency fund”. Of course, this received great support by the public. There hadn’t been many disasters in the last few years or so, and everyone assumed they were in for a big one. The government did nothing to allay their fears.

This money was used to buy out every media provider, both big and small, within Malikov. As the government had already passed legislation disallowing transnational media sources in Malikov the takeover went smoothly, and silently. There were rumours of course, but these were quashed with extreme prejudice.

With the media safely under control, the government was free to begin changes that went completely unopposed. Propaganda advertising campaigns were begun, reinforcing the idea the citizens should remain devoted to Malikov, and Malikov alone. When anyone tried to speak out against this message, they were accused of treason, and swiftly executed.

Geographical inconsistencies are attributed to poor historical record, as evidence for most of Malikov's more ancient history was taken word for word from scholarly books excavated from various archeological digs around Malikov. It is believed that the current borders of Malikov now include two nations which were conquered early in our history, though no hard evidence has ever been found to support this.

Government and Political Structure

Postby Malikov » Tue Jan 12, 2010 4:48 pm

Country name: The Grand United Peoples of Malikov, The United Peoples, Malikov
Government type: Authoritarian Nationalists
Capital city: Maldora Arat
Major cities:
Maldora Arat (the national capital, located in Vokilam)
Rettop (major trade hub in Vokilam)
Tokola (primary military base in Vokilam)
Kelluk (major industry hub in Teraff)
Liluna (major trade hub in Terraf)
Beckun (primary military base in Terraf)
Fumilak (major city center in Herra)
Geddy (major goods port in Herra)
Presscot (primary military base in Herra)
Venderra (major industry hub in Trew)
Slikona (primary military base in Trew)
Anoka (secondary military base in Trew)
Ceno (tertiary military base in Trew)

Date of independence: On the day of May.16th, 1906, The Grand United Peoples of Malikov finally declared itself an independent nation of the world. Airochar, the Grand United Peoples mother nation, declared war on the United Peoples. After a long, brutal war, the Grand United Peoples defeated the oppressive Airocharian dictators, and managed to liberate the entire country.

National holiday: May.16th is the day when Malikov was founded, and declared itself an independent nation. On this day, every year, there are major parades in every city. Almost all white-collar workers take the day off, while most business shut down for the day, allowing blue-collar workers the day off as well. Major cities around Malikov hold multiple speeches by inspirational figure heads of all kinds, and end the night with an internationally acclaimed fireworks display at midnight.

Legal system: The Malkovian legal system consists of multiple forces, groups, and agency’s working in unison with each other. When laws are broken, the offending persons are arrested by local, territorial, and sometimes federal police forces, and held in detaining cells. Each major city has multiple detaining cell complexes, and it is ensured that every town has at least one detaining cell complex. The suspected offender remains in a detainee cell until the police force can determine whether or not the suspected offender did actually break the law. Police forces have exactly one year from the date of arrest to determine this.

If it is deemed positive that they did in fact break the law, then the offender is given a trial date, and remains in a detainee cell. The trial consists of four parties: the defence, the prosecution, the judge, and the jury. After the defence and prosecution make their cases, which can last from a day to a month, the jury adjourns and decides the fate of the offender. After the offender’s punishment has been decided, the jury delivers a “guilty”, or “not guilty” verdict, followed by a recommended sentence if required. The judge, if the jury has delivered a guilty verdict, then takes into consideration the recommended punishment proposed by the jury, and gives the offender their punishment. The judge must abide by the jury’s verdict, but does not have to abide by their suggested sentence.

Suffrage: Suffrage is granted to all Malkovian citizens above the age of 16, race, gender, intellect level, or any other possibly discriminatory category. Voting consists of reporting to a designated area, providing a pre-determined method of testing age and citizenship, and going to a private “ballot area”. There the voter shades in a square of the party they are voting for on a slip of paper called a “ballot”. Any other method of marking the ballot creates a “missed ballot” which does not count towards the total number of votes for any party.

Every fifteen years, the United peoples hold an election, to re-elect, or find a new President. The people vote for their preferred party, and the leader of that party becomes the new president. The President has sweeping powers, while the rest of the party offers advice, and carries out his or her will.

Judicial branch: The Judicial branch within Malikov is all but separate from the federal government. Within the Judicial branch, there is a Supreme Court, which has a total of ten seats. Ten judges were originally chosen to hold these places by each political party active at the time, and became the first ten Supreme Court officials. These officials, when chosen for the position, serve until death, illness, or age, make them unable to do so. When a Supreme court official is removed from the Supreme Court the government party holding federal power, be it a minority or majority, choose a judge to fill the empty seat. These officials’ duties are to issue correct interpretations of current government legislature, when dealing with the law.

Legislative branch: There are no legislature branches within the United peoples. The residing President decides a course of action for the nation, and that is the course the nation will take. As usual practice however, the leader will allow their cabinet members, those in charge of different aspects of Malikov, to offer advice on what to do, and how the wanted course of action will affect Malikov as a whole. However, the final decision always resides with the President.

Major Political parties: In the United Peoples, the two major political parties, at a municipal, territorial, and federal level, are the Malikov Nationalist Party (more commonly referred to as “the MNP’s”), and the Progressive Liberal Party of Malikov (commonly referred to as “the LP’s”). This trend of a two party nation has only recently evolved, after an election fifty years ago that had one-hundred different political candidates. The result was the election of the infamous Orang party, whose political views on civil rights, and economic policy, resulted in a very brief rebellion. As election only occur once every fifteen years, party platforms rarely stay the same from election to election.

International organisation participation: The United Peoples of Malikov is currently a member of the internatyional bortherhood known as the Conglomerate, and is an ex-member of SCUTUM, the IFA, NEMA, and Judea.

World Assembly (United Nations) description category: The United Peoples is classified by the World Assembly as a “Father Knows Best” state, which is quite true. The United Peoples don’t put idiots into power. They put those in power that know better than everyone else.
