Public Transport to/from the Airport

Postby Aussie Republic » Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:47 am

There are many public transportation methods of getting from Kingsford Smith Airport to the CBD or to Sydney Olympic Park
Ferries:
Sydney Ferries owned and operated by the New South Wales government, travel to the CBD via the outside of Botany Bay, along famous landmarks such as Bondi Beach and finally to the Circular Quay, the main public transportation hub of Sydney

Botany and Georges Ferries
Botany and Georges Ferries take people around Botany Bay (where Kingsford Smith airport is located), and the Georges River (off Botany Bay). With over 3 lines going to the airport, Botany and Georges Ferries take the Sydney-siders of the area to their suburbs

Sydney Trains
There are two Sydney trains railway lines that run to Kingsford Smith Airport. The Airport & East Hills Line and the Sutherland Airport Line, which is the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line from Sutherland to Bondi Beach, but instead of going via Sydenham, at Wolli Creek it goes via the airport, which through that part runs via the Airport Link

Sydney Trams
There is a tram route to Circular Quay with many stops along the way! There are many tram routes as Sydney is currently expanding its tram network to be the largest tram network in the entire world. With so many routes, they don't all run to the CBD from the airport, they run to many suburbs, with 3 to 5 stops per suburb

Sydney Light Rail
There is a Sydney Light Rail Line From the Airport to Circular Quay

Buses
There are many bus routes from the airport, both government and privately operated, running to both the CBD and nearby suburbs

Sydney Metro
Sydney Metro is a metro line operating every 2-4 minutes (depending on the time, day and date, 24/7) connecting Circular Quay, Central Station, International Airport, Domestic Airport and Port Botany

Maglev
There is a maglev line running from Kingsford Smith Airport, Circular Quay, Sydney Olympic Park, Parramatta and Penrith, stopping at every single one of those stations along the route

Private Transportation

Postby Aussie Republic » Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:49 am

There are mass-renovations happening at Kingsford Smith Airport.
From 14 January, all types of private vehicles will be supported, weather it be aerial, land, snow, fresh water, nautical or subnautical
Every mode will handle long-term, short-term, valet and drop-off/pick ups

Although it does not snow in Sydney at ground level, Sydney has a unique design in highly populated areas, Sydney builds cities above cities above cities. The cities are high enough above sea level for it to snow. Some cities get so high that it snows. At some alptitudes, it gets so high that snow becomes a major issue. This is why Sydney-siders (especially those at high alptitudes) own snow buses. At most alptitudes, snow is seasonal, but accumulates heavily in the winter.
There is a specifically designed parking for snow vehicles, or cars with snow chains. During times when it doesn't snow, it is used as an additional regular carpark, as there are additional cars without snow chains.

Sydney is a city of the sea, thus, many people, especially those who live near the coast or salt water rivers have boats. Kingsford Smith Airport have boats. For the first time ever, Kingsford Smith Airport is building boating docks for the coastal airport for salt water veichals.

Since Sydney is also becoming an underwater city, people need transportation of submarines. These submarines also park at the boat docks, but can park above and below eacother, and above the boats.

At high alptitudes, Sydney builds fresh water canals as a catchment for melting snow. Private fresh water boats use some of these canals. Kingsford Smith Airport is building dockings for fresh water boats.

Since Sydney builds cities so high, there is plentiful space buildings. Private aerial vehicles, such as helicopters and small, short-distance private jets. These aircraft need a place to land when taken to the airport. There are helipads and tarmacs under construction, completed with a runway.

Since Sydney builds high, some buildings where the layers of cities do not get high enough, there is no snow, there are gold buggies since it's a short distance and golf buggies would be more practical since they can travel shorter distances practically

Kingsford Smith Airport will allow all of these forms of transport to for drop/off pick ups (except for private jets), and avaliable for all forms of private transport, short term parking (if you wish to go into the terminal with people who you are picking up or people who are leaving so you can say final good buys, or long term parking to leave your vehicle there during your holiday

Terminal 1

Postby Aussie Republic » Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:54 am

Terminal 1 is Kingsford Smith's only international terminal. Terminal 1 is only used for international flights.
There are 150 gates. Kingsford Airport is too small to allocate gates to airlines that have few flights a day in and out of Kingsford Smith. Most gates at Kingsford Smith are shared. There are 2 ways of getting an allocated gate:
1.Pay additional fee
2.Get one free allocated gate per 10 flights per day
