Better solution: abolish state sponsored theft.

I'm reminded of something Ron Paul said in the Republican Presidential Debate in regards to the fact that 47% of American Households pay no income taxes. He said, "That's great! Only 53% to go!" or something along those lines.

And I agree with him. Why don't we spend less time worrying about the fairness of taxes and realize that none of it is fair and try to reduce government spending.

But in the mean time, considering that the Fortune 500 companies received more from the government in subsidies and tax breaks than the poor did from all federal social programs combined, I don't really have much problem with the rich paying more taxes. They get more benefit.

They keep raising the Threshold in the hopes it will stop silly petitions.

In reality the higher the threshold the more likely only silly petitions meet it.

Why would you petition Obama to do something that he's against for ideological reasons? I agree that a flat tax is a good idea, but you're wasting your time trying to convince Obama.

What I'd propose is a flat tax at the current rate for the lowest bracket with no deductions and with the option of filing under the current tax code. That way would guarantee that nobody's taxes go up, which is the main objection to a flat tax.

No, Progressive tax rates make sense, which is why every first world nation uses them. 20% of 20,000 is a lot for someone who is making 20k. But 20% isn't a lot for someone making 300k.

I agree with the flat tax. Have a straight 14% tax rate straight down the board.

Hypothesis: North Stradia copypastes all of his posts from a list of libertarian talking points.

I don't see any other explanation for a whole vocabulary consisting of only "tax is theft" and "the IRS are robbers."

Sure. If I make $30K a year, I'm left with about $26K to live on. If I make $90K, that leaves me $78K. Very fair.

Anyway, no. A flat tax is seriously damaging to the poor and inhibits economic activity.

As I always say, there's nothing even slightly fair about that. The person making 90K would pay three times as much! Absurd. A flat fee is the only fair solution.

The tax rate for the people here is already at 10%. I don't see the harm. I don't believe people should be charged more for earning more.
