Uldartre Academy: foreign student visits (interest, open)

Background:
The Uldartre Academy, officially the Uldartre academy for the education of future minds, was founded by Henrius Uldartre in 1843.
Its mission statement was simple, to educate those students who would some day go on to lead the entire Greater Vakolicci Haven in their chosen fields.

Although the academy grew in prestige and size, it didn't change either its mission statement or the stringency of the examination required before a potential student was granted application.
It fast became the place where all young Vakolicci who are interested in bettering themselves hoped to go. It became the inspiration for countless schools around the Haven and elsewhere, and fast developed a reputation for quality.

In 2011, highly-educated teacher Dr. Miro Dirali took over from his incumbent headmaster, who was retiring. Derali braught with him new ideas, and a greater emphasis on the students having a say about the running and activities of their school.

In November 2012, Derali embarked on his most ambitious scheme yet: starting from January, the school would be accepting foreign exchange students from all manner of nations. Their would be no criteria for inclusion, save that the children wanted to learn, and were interested in foreign cultures.

Yeah, I'm game, so long as interstellar is fair game as it was in the other RP...

Students name: Peto-La'haia
Gender: Male
Age: 20 (Just barely an adult, and ready to begin 'proper' schooling)
Species: Homo Primus (Danarii )
Physical description: 5'10" tall, lithe, slightly-bronzed Caucasian, dark-chocolate hair, pale silver-blue eyes.
Personality description: Free-spirited, somewhat scatter-brained, highly spiritual and dedicated to rituals.
Noteworthy possessions: Personal UT, a vial of desert sand about his neck, one leather-bound book (Subject unknown ).
Any cultural notes?: Please see above link for general cultural notes. Specifics on him and his clan will have to be learned IC...
Biography: Born on the small colony of G'het, his silent birth was all the indication their grand-matron needed. She knew instantly he was a seer, one blessed by the ancestors to see that which cannot be seen. At the age of eight, he was sent from his family to the homeworld, Danaria, to live with the monks and learn how to use his rare ability. It was here that he met Ytek Garsol and earned perhaps his only true friend...

Despite his birth and his abilities, or perhaps because of them, he will never be able to truly fit in. Because of this, he has adopted the sage's mantle to remain loyal to no clan, preferring to pledge his loyalty to Setai Reo - the Ancient-Danarian creator-god and embodiment of the desert.

Students name: Ytek Garsol
Gender: Hermaphrodite (male appearance)
Age: 20 (Just barely an adult, and ready to begin 'proper' schooling)
Species: Homo Primus (Danarii )
Physical description: 5'8" tall, muscular, Caucasian, sandy hair, coppery-red eyes.
Personality description: Introverted, bibliophile, highly protective of his charge, does not share his companion's beliefs...
Noteworthy possessions: Personal nanocomputer W/ appended UT & holographic wrist display, (pet) Ch'tori.
Any cultural notes?: Please see above link for general cultural notes. Specifics on him and his clan will have to be learned IC...
Biography: Born an outcast on Danaria, Ytek Garsol was exiled from his clan without a name and cast to the desert. Only through the grace of fortune was he saved from his terrible fate, by a monk passing through from a trip to a nearby village for supplies. As is tradition, the monks refused to give him a name, as only a grand-matron can preform such an act according to ancient customs. Thus he remained for nine years. A nameless boy living in the secluded mountains with the monks, until one day...

Peto-La'haia had been living in the secluded mountain village for more than a year, which Ytek Garsol knew from occasionally seeing him, meditating without robes on the north mesa in the afternoon - something which the boy silently scorned him for, calling him foolish. Until one day, as he walked back, side-by-side with a monk, Peto-La'haia stopped adjacent to the staring boy, raised his chin slightly and turned his head to him. Ytek Garsol instantly saw his pale eyes and blanched, realizing the boy was a seer. The naked seer's face softened into a smile and he said one thing to him...
"I see you, Ytek Garsol."

The boy was no longer nameless, no longer cursed to unlife in the eyes of the monks...but moreover, he now had a friend...even if Peto-La'haia had not intended it.

The proper demonym for the Danarian People is: Danarii. 'Danarian' is the adjective form of the word Danarii and used when addressing individuals and smaller-groups (less) formally.

Studen'ts Name: Andarys Ranis
Gender: Female
Age: 19 (dunmer age the same as humans until puberty is done)
Physical Description: Like all dunmer, she has sharp elven features, gray skin, and bright red eyes. She ties back amber hair in a shoulder-length braid, and her figure suggests an affinity for athletic extracurricular activities.
Personality Description: Ranis has the racial pride and love of family typical of dunmer, but thankfully the former is expressed in a desire to demonstrate her abilities. Due to her upbringing, she's not as outspoken in her faith in the Saints and Ancestors as most dunmer, but will defend it staunchly if challenged. She's very plainspoken, and can actually become irritated if others aren't direct with her.
Biography: Ranis's parents met each other in the employ of House Telvanni, and she was raised as much on the ideals of the Great House as on the teachings of the Temple. Despite the emphasis of her parents on the hard sciences, Ranis took more pleasure in track and field, and her athletic achievements coupled with favorable grades opened up the opportunity to study abroad. After dozen miles of red tape, the young dunmer was permitted to leave the country to find an education on foreign shores.
Noteworthy Possessions: A laptop, a cell phone, and a portable shrine for observing the rites of ancestor worship while away from the lands where the Temple holds sway.
Cultural Notes: Bal-Aruhn is much like Old Morrowind, save that there is a minority of what the dunmer call dunman, since they're dark-skinned humans. Since magic in Old Morrowind drew power from that world's sun, the Second Exodus has forced dunmer to modernize, so the only conceptual barriers she'll need to deal with are cultural ones.
Bal-Aruhn is a nation of dunmer refugees from... Well, the Elder Scrolls setting. Having been cut off from daedra, magicka, and the Tribunal means worship goes exclusively to the Saints and Ancestors. While technically MT, dunmer are dark elves, and thus still retain what magic they have that doesn't involve magicka: Guardian spirits and item enchantments. Nothing overpowered, just enough to compensate for the low birth rate.

Oh, and Archmagister Aryon is RPed as being deliberately undiplomatic.

Hey, this looks pretty interesting, even if I was brought to this thread at bayonet point ;) Quick question though, Vakolic, will you be limiting the number of people who sign up, and will there be a 'posting order'? I can be a bit slow to make larger posts, and I do enjoy making larger posts, and I do not want to be left behind...last time I was in an RP like this, I was drowned out by people making like ten posts a day. I am more one post a week...

Otherwise, here we are:

Student's name: Silendae Caernase

Gender: Female

Age: 29 years (Though in relation to humans, it is around 18 or 19. Solarians mature at about 28 years of age)

Species: Solarian

Physical description: Silendae is of average height for a solarian female at 7'8'' and of equally average weight to seem just as gaunt and pole-like as any other of her kind. She is much like most other solarians, so as far as physical descriptions go, you need only look at the factbook link provided above. She has bright red eyes and an almost turquoise coloured skin, it is so pale. She is weak and, in the words of her peers, 'fragile' as well, suiting to her lifestyle as a pampered member of the solarian upper-middle class, (they are comfortable, but not fantastically wealthy).

Personality description: Silendae is a bit of an introvert for someone who wishes to eventually become a diplomat, and this is a large reason why her father thought it best- despite protests from her mother- that Silendae be sent on this trip, which he hopes will start to break her out of her shell. Silendae, as it is, tends to avoid conflict of any sort and is far more akin to observe the happenings around her rather than take direct action. She is not socially inept however, and is quite keen to others feelings and desires, and is very good at actually quelling debate once brought into it, so long as it does not directly involve her. She wishes to join the diplomatic service because it was the path her mother took, and she wishes particularly to enter into a field which focuses on the purchase, education, and freeing of slaves to become citizens of the Empire. She is considered by many to be wise beyond her years in that she despises political apathy and hopes to make a difference in her life to improve the squalid conditions of most the galaxy. With her having a largely private education, a lord for a father, and an extremely protective military brother, she is very innocent and has led a life of ease. Her interests include reading (mostly nonfiction books on modern political theory and books about the conditions of the rest of the galaxy), occasionally riding in her father's garden, and interior designing.

Biography (be as detailed as you want): Silendae's father is a nobleman and former doctor in the Cilisti government, who earned his position of Candleman (he jointly rules with an elected council over an area the size of a county or province on the solarian home world of Saleous) as a result of exceptional service to the government in reforms to local healthcare systems. She grew up along with her other four siblings; three brothers and a younger sister. She is the third born child in the family. Her oldest brother is an officer in the navy (second lieutenant on His Majesty's heavy cruiser Foothold), and her other older brother is training in law. Her younger brother hopes to become a doctor like his father, though still shudders at the sight of blood, and her kid sister is too young to consider careers. Silendae herself wishes to join the diplomatic service, and such is why- along with her exceptional academic talent- being considered for this programme. Her past is one of being pampered and sheltered, with both her father and older brothers being very protective of her and her younger siblings. Her closest relationship is with her mother, and she does feel a strong sense of family, though she was never very close with her relatives. Since she was very young she, as with her siblings, has been trained and educated with some of the better resources in money has to buy and has been training to enter the workforce in service to the nation (her father is a hardline nationalist) and her family both.

Noteworthy possessions (Weapons, cultural artifacts, pets, computers, phones etc.): A few suitcases full of clothing and toiletries and the like, an assortment of perfumed handkerchiefs as well as perfumes, multiple pairs of white silk gloves, a personal datapad computer, a smaller local communications device (cellular phone), a money card linked to her father's account designed to be used on an alien world such as this, and I am sure there are other things I am simply forgetting right now.

Any cultural notes?: For starters, alcohol is a poison to solarians, and they may not ingest it without having quite a horrid reaction. That is usually the most unexpected, so it is best to have that clear and on the table. Alcohol is one of the very few drugs illegal in the solarian empire, considering is is treated as a chemical weapon as opposed to a drug. Solarians also have incredibly sensitive taste buds, and most foods that are even slightly spiced would be far too much for them, so she may require a special cook or be provided with the capabilities to prepare her own food (she wouldn't like it, but she could make due) and solarians are able to go quite some time without eating, so she could go the entire school day without food easily. She is also used to showering about three times a day, as most solarians have a tendency to do at least twice, out of a desire common in all solarians to keep incredibly clean. This also explains her gloves and perfumes. Solarian females also act on a heat based mating system, rather than one based on a system of libido, and a sexually mature solarian will enter into heat once every year, with the female heat cycle being far stronger than the male. What this essentially means is that at some point during this RP Silendae will have to take about a week off from school as a result of this cycle, because it leads to a rather extreme desire to mate.

There are tons of other things of course, but those shall be discovered and explained more in depth during the actual RP. Mostly more personal things, such as her being a very abolitionist individual and also harboring an opinion that the solarian empire is one of the few civilized nations in the galaxy.

Of course you're accepted, and it was a rifle, remember? lol.

I'm not planning for a limit on characters (obviously, if it begins to get out of hand, I might consider it if people want one.) For the moment, I'm prepared to allow the rp to go at the speed people want.

Ok then, I may have to keep my interactions with other characters limited, but that works fine.

Students name: Vladim Zhukov
Gender: Male
Age (12-19 preferable, in humans): 15
Physical description: 5'11" Tall with slightly messy blonde hair and bright blue eyes, Caucasian and slim.
Personality description: Nationalist beliefs (pride in his people, thinks that his country is the greatest etc.
Biography (be as detailed as you want): Vladim was selected from a young age to be part of a Fanaticism experiment, he was taught to love and respect his emperor as a god and that he should obey orders no matter what, this experiment worked almost too well on Vladim as it made him a deep fanatic and supporter of his emperor willing to kill himself if he was instructed to.

As Vladim progressed through school he did well in all subjects never really being the smartest but the fact that he was consistent in every subject was praised. As The Empire of Woodstovia begun getting more and more involved in foreign affairs the Government of Woodstovia begun taking part in exchange programs often picking students to show off their education system, Vladim was chosen for one of these programs his fanaticism and intelligence making him an almost perfect student for this program.

Noteworthy possessions (Weapons, cultural artifacts, pets, computers, phones etc.): A Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife inscribed with "honor meus est pietas", a computer and a phone.

Any cultural notes?: Not really

This good Vakolic?

Students name: Jason Ayakimi
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Physical description: Messy dirty blond hair with dark blue eyes, 68 inches tall, 135 pounds
Personality description: Jason is known to be extremely patriotic and somewhat sensitive like the majority of the people born in Elipida. However he is astoundingly polite and well-mannered and will always try his best to find a compromise - no hurt feelings. Despite this he can be very arrogant and egotistical.

His political ideology and moral beliefs may be the reason for his pacifistic personality as it is also rare in Elipida
Noteworthy possessions: Asides from his personal laptop and a cellphone, the only object of possible interest would be the memento he wears around his neck.
Cultural notes: He was born and raised Catholic (which is wear his morals come from), however lost faith after a certain incident. He is currently atheist and possibly a strong follower of Marxism
Biography: Jason was born in one of the smaller towns surrounding the Royal Capital during Elipida's second rebellion. His town was occupied by the Rebels and was subsequently leveled by Loyalist artillery fire. He and his sister were found alone among the wreckage and was brought into one of the missionary churches that pattern the entire countryside where he was raised to believe in the missionary's God.

He grew to believe that God would protect them from all evils. However a small rebel brigade took refuge in the church and held the orphans hostage. The rebels remained in a tense standoff with the loyalists for two weeks. in that time the rebels hoarded all the food for themselves and took advantage of the younger children.

It was because of this Jason felt God would not save them and took the matter into his own hands and murdered the rebel brigade leader in his sleep. The rebels surrendered and the orphans were taken into the Elipian Military Academy. Jason was extremely efficient with weapons training and was able to adapt quickly, however due to the traumatizing event, Jason had difficulty looking at blood and was subsequently moved into the Elipian Academy of the Arts along with his sister.

At the age of fifteen, his sister dropped out and joined the Missionary to become a priestess much to Jason's dismay.
Just a heads up; the demonym is "Elipian", not "Elipidian"

Seems pretty cool... I'm in if you'll have me

Students name: Lucis Grenes
Gender: male
Age (12-19 preferable, in humans): 17
Physical description: 6'4", shaved head, One green eye (left), the other is cybernetic, pale (due to life in canyons), barcode on left shoulder, His face is nearly always hidden with a respirator/mask (religious reasons)
Apperance: Minus claw and gun:
Image

Personality description: excitedable, escpecially when technology is concerned, open-minded, childish at times, egar to talk about his wonderful homeland., he is afriad of being submerged in water.
Biography (be as detailed as you want): Lucis was born like any standard child. He received his barcode at twelve just like everyone else, but that is where the similarities stop. His parents became enthralled by a man named Corvus Wilk. He preached that to get closer to The One (their god) they had to purse knowledge and shape the land into a better image. His parents encourage Lucis to be implanted with a few grafts and after a brief time he was. Lucis joined in with the other groups of GYG (Gist Youth Groups) and he was eventually sent to the GVH to see how other cicilizations lived and worked. Lucis is proud to be the only student from New Cinoth to be excanged to a foregin country.
Noteworthy possessions (Weapons, cultural artifacts, pets, computers, phones etc.): His respirator/mask, Cybernetic eye and two ports on his right and left arms for interfacing with machines (can close off to prevent damage) lightweight and form concealing robes, (making it impossible to tell exactly what he looks like or even what gender he is without him telling you), and a laptop.
Any cultural notes?: Curently New Cinoth is heading towards a civil war, one side the Gist (techs) and on the onther the Pure (hates cybernetics and melding of machine and man) Lucis is a tech...

Edits: corrected errors and added a bit of bio and added picture to halt confusion

Students name: Andreas Fadius
Gender: Male
Age (12-19 preferable, in humans): 13
Physical description: Blond hair, blue-eyed, relatively tall for his age. In excellent physical shape. Clean-cut appearance.
Personality description: A typical boy from Saintland. Andreas is polite, well-mannered and respectful toward authority figures. He is fairly shy, but generally well-liked once people get to know him. Andreas believes in the teachings of the Church of Saintland and tries his best to follow them.
Biography (be as detailed as you want): Andreas was born in a tiny village in Saintland. Like almost all kids in Saintland, he has been very sheltered throughout his life and has little knowledge of what the rest of the world is like. Andreas has been an exceptional student so far in school. His mother was the daughter of a foreign resident and she talked his father into signing him up for this foreign exchange program because she wanted her oldest son to see the world outside of Saintland. He has done especially well in his foreign language classes, so he is fluent in several languages besides Latin.
Noteworthy possessions (Weapons, cultural artifacts, pets, computers, phones etc.): His only possession he's taking with him is his Vulgate Bible.
Any cultural notes?: Saintland is a nation that is still, in many ways, culturally medieval. The Church of Saintland is an established Church and weekly attendance is mandatory for all citizens. The Church also runs the school system in Saintland. The Church of Saintland broke away from the Catholics and Orthodox in 966 over some arcane dispute over Christology. The leader of the Church (the equivalent of the Pope) is called the Patriarch and Church doctrine is much more conservative than Catholic or Orthodox doctrine. In Saintland, the borders are open and pretty much anybody can enter the country freely. Foreigners who enter Saintland but don't stick around are called Visitors. Foreigners who live in Saintland, without attempting to acquire citizenship are called foreign residents. Foreigners who become or are working to become citizens of Saintland are called immigrants. Many laws that apply to citizens don't apply to foreign residents. Foreign residents are allowed to run their own school system and do not have to attend Church of Saintland services. A foreign resident or visitor that marries a citizen becomes a citizen. Should a citizen marry while abroad and return to Saintland, their wife (its almost always a wife because women and girls that are citizens can't go abroad unaccompanied by their father, husband or male legal guardian) becomes a citizen. It goes without saying that the idea of women's rights is basically unheard of in Saintland. Andreas does not have a cell phone because cell phones are not commonly owned by children his age in Saintland (and Royal Phone doesn't sell phones that do anything other than phone calls because the King thinks they're unnecessary). The Church schools do use tracking devices inside their uniforms and almost all children in Saintland don't own any other clothing because it is easier for authorities to identify them that way and it is easier for their parents and the authorities to track their location.

It's going to be very fun introducing him to all the un-christian things that happen in the gvh...

I'm liking all this interest guys! You're all accepted. I'm hoping to have an IC thread up next Monday (to give more people time to apply.)

Besides, these RPs don't last long without a simple story to follow. So it'll give him time to do that

Students name: Alfred Sotarenov

Gender: Male

Age (12-19 preferable, in humans): 15 (Technically 156 due to the way time and aging works)

Physical description: Short white hair, light blue eyes, light skin with light blue scales growing around, tends to wear a magic user's hooded robe or a casual outfit with a long coat, or a hooded robe

Personality description: Logical, somewhat unemotional, can use emotions and logic for his own benefit, somewhat content with what he has, usually kind if somewhat antisocial

Biography (be as detailed as you want): Second born of the main branch of the Sotarenov noble family from the Kingdom of Vento, a constituent nation of Kershya, known for its floating mountains, infamous detachment, and wind magic, he is an adept of wind magic, taught about, like everyone else, the arts, the sciences, the sports, and the faiths

A member of the Followers of the Guiding Eye, also known as the Open Conspiracy.

Noteworthy possessions (Weapons, cultural artifacts, pets, computers, phones etc.): Some magical items, some advance technology, stuff for self-reliance, a disturbing amount of blood to bathe in a couple of times.

Any cultural notes?: Vento is famous for its disturbing detachment and near lack of empathy, due to it being hard for them to develop proper emotional bonds, caused by the fact that the majority live on the floating mountains of the province or the inhospitable Borderlands-ish wasteland at ground level. It is said that Kershya's chief virtue is hypocrisy.

OK, I'm perfectly able to write the op for an IC thread. I'm not going to close signups, so it's fine to sign up after the school term officially commenses.

Edit: I've also made the op nicer.
