I built a crystal radio, it was amazing, no power source yet I could get Am stations. Magic!
I had a nice transistor radio and dropped it while I was doing the dishes. Something happened to the tuner, and after that it would only broadcast Dominion Observatory Canada, accurate time given every minute. Some kind of astronomical clock. CHQ it was. Can you explain to me what happened?
Was it shortwave? There are clock stations running around on 40 meters.

Ah! I see it was CHU, not CHQ. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CHU_%28callsign%29
Somehow my radio must have transformed into a (very limited) shortwave!
Since it declared itself to be Dominion Observatory Canada, it must have been prior to the shift to the National Research Council of Canada in 1970. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominion_Observatory
My grandmother had a shortwave (floor model!) on which I listened to the takeover of Radio Brazzaville by rebels in 1963.

I also have a Victorian printing of The Vicar of Wakefield but of course it is not the original.

Mine isn't particularly special or extensive, mostly old American pennies from the early 20th century and Asian/African/Eastern European Cold War era coins.
Also I have an Israeli dollar but that isn't really special, just cool lookin'.
