Music in your nation.

Postby Sedikal » Mon Jan 28, 2013 1:36 am

Well the title really says it all. What is music like in your?

In Sedikal music is an extriamly important part of everyday life. You can hear music coming from cars buildings and music is important that in most places music is played from speakers on city side walks and communion areas. Sedik music goes back almost 7,000 years but the modern music Scene has only been around for 50 years or so. Once every 2 years a large 5 day music festival is held in the city Center of Neccereç with over 240 acts and 1.8 million attedies.

FOLK
folk music is the cultural music of the Sedik people and developed over a 3,000 year period of nomadism and migration inbsedik history. Sevral folk instruments were developed including the Persian inspired guitar the Üziwäklã and the Sedik drum the Çedeškehdel. The genre was popular until the 60's when it fell out of favore. But lately it has gained some major jumps in popularit as its being mixed with Rock and electronica.
Example

ROCK
Rock music has been populare through out the years and originally developed in the early 60's during the civil war period.
It's first preformed by teens who didn't fight in the civil war but for years had listened to illegal imported music from the west and it focused on political issues of the time like the war and sevral domestic issues line the Śolbmëz massacre and the Źlixki riots. But over they years it's evolved into something that talks more about the avrage life and such but sevral songs touch on issues like abortion, wars, schadals, and economics.
Example

RAP
rap music is one of the more popular music genres in Sedikal only rock is more popular. Sedik rap developed in the 70's and 80's and commonly referred to in slang as "Chatting". It formed in sevral regions with each region having a difrent style. By far the most popular are the souther and coastal styles. The southern style features a slower bear with hard bass and catchy hooks. The coastal style features faster tempos with moderate to hard bass and Addictive instrumentals. Most are about life subjects and having fun.
Example (coastal style)

ALERNATIVE ROCK
Alternative rock came about in the mid to late 80's. It was a much more social and party oriented style of music talking about drinking, drugs, sex, and just good times but their are those black sheep. It's charecterized by fast and ferocious assault of music with strong vocals.
Example

POP
pop music has always been one of those get up and be happy kinds of music in Sedikal and with the era know as the "great morn" from 1950 to the early 70's happy go luck music like Sedik pop didn't hit a mainstream cord til the mid 70's wit acts such as DękoDęko and Mûstarfïa Fûlkiön Bering pioneers in the genre. But it hit an all time low in the 90's and even being classified as "underground" for a short period of time. But in the early 2000's the genre got a jolt of life and still remains popular today.
Example

METAL
Heavy metal has deep roots in the Sedik military and Zev culture as both establishments were emphasis era to brutality and remorseless rage. In the 70's a genre commmanly refurred to as "Proto-metal" started to come about influanced by bands like black sabbath and iron maiden. In the 80's the genre went through a violent and radical change in sound nearly wiping out proto-metal altogether as is commonly refuted to as "golden age metal" which enjoyed popularity untill another major shift in sound killed of that genre and leading to what is known as "new age" and new age is still a very dominant force in Sedik music today
Example (new age)

Popular foreign artist.

Red hot chili peppers, rage against the machine, system of a down, jay-z, 2chainz, brittny spears, bob marly, sublime, the Melvin's, Kenya west, consequence, job for a cowboy.

In my nation, music is mainly rock, we have outlawed music such as Justine Bieber, Nicky Minaj, and the terrible music of the 2000 decade.

Music varies, but we encourage rock of the late 70s to the mid 90s. We also have an extensive orchestral music movement in our midsts, classical and classical-style orchestral music. Many cities and towns play such music in public squares.

We have an extensive satellite radio service, as well as foreign services offered, so there's many kinds of music, including one service that allows you to listen to whatever the Founder is listening to, which is usually 80s stuff.

In The Kingdom, music is an essential part of life and is a popular form of expression. The genre of choice is reggae, especially roots reggae. Dancehall however is almost equal in popularity. Other popular genres are ska, dub, and soca, and various African styles of music. Reggae fusion is also popular. Mento is very popular in the rural areas of the country but uncommon beyond that. Hip-hop is not uncommon but not prominent.

The three most popular types of music right now are electronic and ambiance (bands including T3DDY and Techno Toyland), classical music (with many orchestras such as the Toyland Philharmonic, or the Central Military Band) and classical rock (such as Alpine Way). Our current top charts are all dominated by music from these three category.

Music is probably Chemung's strongest points culturally. The Horn plays an integral part of life among the hills and along the Chemung River. While this tradition was essential during the early days, it has also been cemented in the ceremonial and everyday life of the Nation. Many tourists to our luscious landscape are serenaded by Horn Calls and concertos.

Besides Horn Music, music is extremely varied but tends to be "Exact" rather than the "Modern Music" that most other countries are more familiar to.

Music in Solitaria is a cultural thing, developed without outside influences. Lyrics are rarely if ever used, as "...music is intended to convey a message, and invoke a response on a mental, emotional, or spiritual level. If the message must be stated in the music itself, in addition to the sounds and feel of the song, it is not doing its job." Large portions of silence are used, often for "reflection on the song". Popular instruments are the bagpipe, flutes, harpsichord, organ, and xylophone.

Since the 1950s, most foreign music has been banned in Saintland. When rock and roll first became popular, the King decided to ban it after discovering the lewd dancing that was associated with that form of music. Heavy metal was banned from the moment the King's Government found out about it, as was rap.

Almost all music in Saintland is locally produced and mostly resembles the kind of music that was popular prior to rock and roll. In order to be released in Saintland, foreign movies and TV shows often have to have their music replaced with local music. Even the tube sites located in Saintland, which are notorious havens for piracy of foreign works (with governmental endorsement), are required to adopt content systems to scan for banned music. When banned music is found, the system automatically replaces it with local music, but only for viewers in region-blocked countries (Saintland and other nations that apply to be added to the list to be protected against immoral videos). The banned music remains in the video for all viewers from nations that are not subject to the region-block system. The specific replacement song for each banned song is chosen by employees in the content rating department of the King's Government (OOC: similar technologies to the ones described here actually exist).

Unolians (The native Jahistics before the Coup in 2016) had no folk music back in the day.

Music is mainly popular in the following classes of genres.

Revolutionary:
This music, played by orchestras, is mainly patriotic or propaganda songs written by people to praise either Jarrod Thuman, the Jahistic Libertarian Party, the Jahistic Unified Republic or the Capitalist ideals the former follows. The music is known for it's varying tone. One song could be a fierce battle song whilst the other can be a calm patriotic tune. Some even take off current anthems from other nations. These songs occasionally involve a choir.

IC Example: The New Internationale, the National Anthem of the JUR

Alternative Christian:
In the Jahistic Christian Lifestyle, which contains mainly young people aged 12-40, music is a big part of the culture. Alternative Christian is limited only by the imagination. What you would OOCly call "Metal", "Grunge", "Rap", "Glam Rock" and the like have been turned around with Christian lyrics to appease the young and rebellious mindset of the culture. AC Grunge and Post-Grunge bands tend to have female vocalists, whilst the rest have male vocalist. The Christian lyrics are 60% metaphorical and 40% blatant, except in AC Rap, where they are 80% blatant, 20% metaphorical. AC Grunge and AC Metal usually (but not exclusively) carry dark themes to them, whilst AC Rap and AC Glam Rock carry happier tones.

OOC Example of what AC Grunge would sound like

Secular Alternative:
The same applies to Secular Alternative music. Rap, Grunge, Rock, Metal and Electronica are personal favorites of the Jahistic People. Lyrics vary from genre to genre and each genre may carry it's own subgenres.

OOC Example of SA Metal and what it sounds like

Classical, March Music, Jazz, Classic (i.e. 50s and 60s) Rock, and Traditional Pop are all the most predominant, especially among the older citizens.

Of course, Metal, Techno, Industrial, and even some Samba are gaining favor with younger people. Although some do like the music enjoyed by the older citizens.

Music in Oceara has played an important role in the nation as a whole, it is played through speakers of soldiers' backpacks at times for Psychological warfare (and to boost morale of Ocearan Troops, having an bravery and fire rate increase at the cost of each soldier feeling they are invincible and rushing the enemy to be cut down.) The Supreme Commander listens to music to coordinate massive armies tactically correct from her console.. and when pondering diplomatic choices the High Overseer often listens to music (Fitting to the situation)

OOC: The nation listens to the same music I do, Video game and Epic Trailer music.

Oceara's Music of Choice is Epic Trailer music, looking to the steady militaristic beat that is in most of the tracks as the nation is highly militaristic and has been entrenching their mainland for the past 113 years, while some other times having tense strings to get their head straight in a tough decision.
