Minrozian Imperial Auxiliary Army-Foreign Legions of Minroz

Postby Minroz » Sun Feb 12, 2012 10:54 pm

Minrozian Imperial Auxiliary Army

The Minrozian Imperial Auxiliary Army is the foreign legion in service of the Celestial Army; they served as supporting force bolstering the numbers of Imperial troops during campaigns, but often risky assignments. Also it will give the chance for volunteers from other countries to participate in the Imperial Army, and to become citizen of the Minrozian Empire. This is to maintain massive numerical superiority, the Celestial Army make use of mercenaries, adventurers and privateers etc, as any soldiers of the Empire, though it stings the martial pride of many young officers. The Auxiliary divisions are placed under the overall command of an Imperial army staff officer. Each regiment consists solely of their origins, nationality or ethnicity. The contract lasts for six years, after this is done, the volunteer will gain citizenship as member of the Minrozian Empire, and a sum of 70,000 Azdevks.

It’s like the Roman Empire which recruited non-citizens into Auxiliary units on the promise of them receiving Roman citizenship for themselves and their descendents at the end of their service. I may include them in my RPs in the future, but be warned the Auxilliary troops will maybe be placed in unfavourable circumstances such as cannon fodder tactics for example.

OOC: It should be pointed out here and now that this thread is NOT, and I repeat NOT about your rulers or other head of states personal guard, but rather it's about immigrants and adventurers from your nation that fights in the Imperial Army.
Also, would I prefer that your regiments are not borrowed or otherwise primary serving your nation but rather just immigrants unless you have my specific permission to do so (and then would I need a good explanation why?)

This topic is inspired from Imeriata’s and Magnum Ultra Foreign Legion threads. Imeriata if you read this the whole thing; I’m sorry if you think I am plagiarising from you, really.

Number of Regiments (Maximum 10): 4, Stylizing themselves as an elite fighting arm of the Minrozian Imperium auxiliary corps rather then a standing force. Mostly the malcontents are sent to the MITF, but a small percent of otherwise likely officer candidates have pursued their ranks as well and it has slowly been increasing.

Does your nation have any historical preferred way of fighting (It will most likely be incorporated into the way the regiment fights now somehow): Before the incorporation (The addition of redundancy into the human body) Zugzo armies trained as a suppression force meant to seek out, isolate and destroy well armed militias and special operators within their area of action, up to and include special operations and special forces groups. Additionally IZ troops are shock troopers without peer, extremely fast and strong enough to break defensive points. This has been incorporated within the MITF mode of operations for IZ regiments, their ability to outpace armies on the ground allows them to attack with surprising high frequency, dubbing most IZ shock troopers ghost or specters. Also something of note are the IZ surprising use of terror tactics against said troops, because they are malcontents, they use most tactics outlawed within common IZ mode of operations such as using human heads as grenades or executions of prisoners.

What is the main religion of your people? There is a variety of religions that are practiced within IZ and it is reflected in their troops, key being the absences of any sort of religious troop that exist to comfort the armies.

Is there something the regiments will be known for? (Such as they die standing rather than retreat, they are good marksmen or something similar): IZ troops are trained for shock purposes, extremely fast and strong ground troops and are something special to IZ due to the redundant body systems, plus the aid of their integrated hard-suits. Shock Tactics are taught at a young age during the mandatory 13-year military conscription as well as a regiment that keeps them in superior physical condition, even for a IZ citizen.

Hope this is cool!

First Mongol Federationist Engineers

At first, very suspicious of them, coming from the atheist state (Most Imperial officers are highly religious), but after proving themselves as excellent engineers, they’re placed as one of the important and well-known engineer corps. They participate in several proxy wars against the Southerners (Xorans and Omaskans), helping the Minrozian troops with their expertise. Most of them are given deep respect by Imperial troops for their efforts and highly commendable by Imperial officers.

OOC: It's Cool enough!

Zugzo Ghosts

After receiving strict training, which emphasising on discipline, they’re among the most elite shock troops feared by enemies of Minroz. In the beginning, proud young officers think lowly of these Zugzo soldiers as savage thugs, only to realise the Zugzos are competent fighters in their own right after successfully breaching enemy defences and suppression of rebel groups in short time, almost to the basic level of Kheshig - Minroz’s Special Forces. They’re often placed in deep enemy lines wrecking havoc everywhere, softening hostile positions before the regular troops move in and finished off whoever’s left. The Zugzo Ghosts uses of terror tactics horrified the sensitive circles of the Minrozian military hierarchy, while the more practical elements endorses it as a way to subjugate the enemy into submissions.

Despite their notoriety, the ghosts get along well with average Imperial soldiers and well-earned respect of Imperial officers for their distinguished services and their reliability as elite shock troops. Few soldiers from the Zugzo regiments are quickly promoted to be their officers, due to their merits, integrity and intelligence, especially gaining trust of Imperial commanders. Their fame is enough to earned attention by Omaskan and Xoran military leadership.

Manileño Riflemens

The Manileño Riflemens are well-drilled soldiers as well as proficient close-combatants. Preferring using their bayoneted assault rifle as their weapon of choice in CQB situations over their pistols, the Manileño regiments are extensively used in urban and forest combat where their skills are required. Imperial officers are usually impressed by their eskrima skills when pitted against Xoran warriors, and the Manileños are well-commendable for their efforts.

Number of Regiments (Maximum 10): 1 (3,000 troops)
Citizen Demonym: Cadaorian
Does your nation have any historical preferred way of fighting (It will most likely be incorporated into the way the regiment fights now somehow): Historically, Cadaorian troops were famous urban warfare specialists (considering the fact that they all grew up in a city-state). They are pragmatic soldiers, preferring to slip away to fight another day before putting up a block by block defense.
What is the main ethnicity of your nations people (do if you can compare them to a RL people)? Cadaorian
What is the main religion of your people? Mixture, although Protestant Christianity followed by Islam are two major religions in the area (although the two groups get along)
Is there something the regiments will be known for? (Such as they die standing rather than retreat, they are good marksmen or something similar): Cadaorian troops are known for their lax discipline and their almost cut-throat like nature. They often engage in looting when in the field, and are known to fight with other regiments for real and imagined insults. Despite this "thuggish" behavior, the Cadaorian troops are known to be remarkably brave fighters and often volunteer to go into places first, expect when the mission is of a suicidal nature. They're brave, but, they are certainly not stupid. They maintain a constant military readiness, and their physical conditioning is off the charts. They are often able to out-run soldiers of any other regiments simply due to the fact that their conditioning allows them too.

Cadaorian Infantrymen

Known for their specialty in urban warfare, the Cadaorian are brave fighters who often volunteers to go into places first, except the suicidal nature of the mission. They are often able to out-run soldiers of any other regiments simply due to constant military readiness, and their off the charts physical conditioning. But the Cadaorian are notorious for their ‘thuggish’ attitudes especially lax discipline, often engage in looting when in the field, and are well-known to fight with other regiments on basis of feeling ‘insulted’, much to the frustrations of Imperial officers. Not surprisingly, Cadaorians are often punished for their transgressions as strict discipline is highly valued in MITF. Nevertheless, their merits as soldiers are valued in spite of their roguish attitude. As their skills helps Minrozian forces won many urban battles are all well -appreciated by soldiers and officers alike.

Does your nation have any historical preferred way of fighting (It will most likely be incorporated into the way the regiment fights now somehow): Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanor has a proud fighting tradition notable for its savagery and brutality, and whose skill in melee combat is all but unsurpassed. This lends towards an affinity for light infantry for Onekawan military personnel serving in foreign armies, although domestically the focus is on mechanized and armoured warfare doctrinally. As light infantry, Onekawan troops have proven themselves to be of superior quality to many, and make excellent paratroopers. Thus, for overseas armies, they find it most beneficial to utilize Onekawan troops as paratroopers and rangers. Able to operate independently of a main force, acting as the first assault from the sky, and more than willing to charge an enemy and chop his head off, one cannot deny the danger of Onekawan paratroopers
What is the main ethnicity of your nations people: Māori
What is the main religion of your people?: Māori 'Paganism', although many people tend to be of the Christian faith, predominately Anglican and Mormon in the Christian community
Is there something the regiments will be known for?: As stated above, their excellence as light infantry and paratroopers, as well as their willingness to engage in melee combat and their brutality and savagery in battle. They also perform a Haka before engaging the enemy.

Onekawan Paratroopers

Famed for their prowess as a savage and highly-lethal force, the Onekawan Paratroopers Regiment are among the Elite Light infantry troops of the Minrozian Foreign Legion. Known for their unsurpassed melee combat and daring attitudes, the Onekawan were often employed in deep-behind enemy lines missions, in support of Imperial Spec-op units or Regular foot-soldiers.

Their efforts as excellent paratroopers are appreciated by many Imperial commanders, however many officers of aristocratic origins complaining about Onekawan paratroopers being as savage brutes. The High Command brushes this off as overreaction on the Onekawan’s habits, insisting the importance of their value as great soldiers instead. Many officers joked that it’s the Haka that frustrates their sensitive peers.

Nevertheless, the Onekawan Paratroopers continued to serve the Minrozian Empire as one of elite Imperial troops.

Does your nation have any historical preferred way of fighting (It will most likely be incorporated into the way the regiment fights now somehow): In Ye Aulden Days, before the British showed up, the Songhians were famous for three things - excellent archery, excellent light cavalry, and spectacular cruelty - Songhia was made up of many disparate ethnic groups that spoke different languages and regarded one another as foreign and unworthy. When the British colonized Songhia, they raised regiments of West African Rifles, and sent them to different points across the Empire to suppress the local peoples. During World War 2, the West African Rifles were heavily involved in the Burma campaign, where they were famous for mistreatment of Japanese captives (captives who surrendered to them out of fear that the W.A.R. would cannibalize them, something even worse than a shameful surrender).
What is the main ethnicity of your nations people (do if you can compare them to a RL people)? West African Malinese.
What is the main religion of your people? The ones you're getting are all Sunni Muslims.
Is there something the regiments will be known for? (Such as they die standing rather than retreat, they are good marksmen or something similar): They are excellent scouts and light infantry, and above-average marksmen, to boot - not awesome sniper-grade marksmen, but better than average. They are especially good at living off the land in rural environments. They don't so well in urban situations.

Songhian Rifles

Excellent light infantry and excellent scouts, the Songhian Rifles are one of the most notable All-African Foreign Regiments in service of the Minrozian Empire. Their long service as scouts had benefited the Imperial Army in the Numidian (Iclamian equivalent of Africa) theatre, far more than many Imperial scout brigades, despite their poor records in urban operations and decent marksmanship by Minrozian standards. Many young imperial officers complain about the latter at reasonable degree.

Nevertheless, the Songhian Rifles are still one of the most reliable foreign auxiliaries to call upon when it comes to campaigns set in rural areas, at times assisting Elite Special Forces.
