[MT] Shots Fired at the Capitol! [Closed]

"At about 18h35 today, shots rang out at the capitol as several dozens of people dropped dead. This comes as protesters forced their way into the capitol building. We've received conflicting reports as to what the cause is, but we believe it is the case that Government forces fired into the crowd. The Federal and Provisional Government have remained awkwardly silent in this, leading us to suspected they were somehow involved, we'll bring you more at the top of the hour."

National-Socialist protesters, after forcing their way into the capitol building, were fired upon by military forces after gunfire came from the protesters up towards where the President was being held. This elevation of a peaceful protest leads the Federal Government to consider National-Socialists inside the capitol revolutionaries, and the order was given to fire indiscriminately into the crowd, from the president. The Federal Government has not made any movement to inform the press about the situation.

Federal Troops have had a great trouble reaching the Capitol and have been in several small skirmishes with National-Socialist revolutionaries, many other news sources are claiming an open state of Civil-War inside Kamchastkia.

TO: The Federal Republic of Kamchastkia

It has come to our attention the escalating struggle in your nation, and such we have seen it fit to aid your nation in its struggle. This will be the first foreign deployment made by Auskralian forces since even the inception of the First Republic, and as such will be a small pop quiz on our military abilities. Our initial deployment will be small, and will comprise around 3,000 Army combat troops, along with the necessary logistical personnel and vehicles, we will also deploy the First Fleet as part of our operations. There will be no need for you to host our ground forces, we are seabasing our troops in order to avoid alienating and offending your citizens with the constant presence of foreign soldiers. We will not yet deploy our main battle tanks to your country, we will instead deploy amphibious variants of Kamisov tanks, which are more lightly armed and armored, and as such will have an easier time navigating your country and maneuvering with civilian traffic, but are still well armed nontheless. Should the situation escalate, however, expect the deployment of more heavily armed forces. However, we will always try to seabase our forces when possible.

Outside the Presidential Palace
The situation was only worsening, President Voronkov was being kept in the basement in a cellar that was meant to protect the president during a direct bombing of the palace. The President had obviously lost touch with what was going on outside, the streets were full of rebels, even some of his own soldiers were discarding their uniform for that of the National Socialists. The small volatile nation had exploded once more. Approximately 100 rebels were laying siege on the Presidential Palace, seeking to execute the President for the crime of "Betraying the People, and Ideology of the Nation".

Mr. President,

Having reviewed your offer with great detail and concern, I have decided that, due to the small size of our nation (1.2 Million), the force you wish to send would be an excessive response to our problem, a smaller force without armor, would be welcomed with open arms, but foreign troops on our soil is of great concern, and generally gets a negative response from the general public, which I would like to avoid.

Signed,

Dear Kamchastkia,

We have two sigma class corvettes and one arleigh burke class destroyer off your waters and can send in 50 Marines if needed. The offer stands to send aid.

Sincerely,

Outside the Sondstead Embassy

We've heard, watched, and sympathized with the cause of the rebels. I told my partner to take up a position at the rear entrance of the embassy as I chambered a round into my rifle. We're doing something we haven't trained for, and we have trained for a lot more than the average soldier, and we're just policemen.

"Ready" I heard Timothy say over the radio, he was as nervous as I was about this, but just as determined.

I keyed up my radio, "GO". With that I opened the door to the Sondstead Embassy, we were laying siege to an embassy. I swung the door open and ran in and raised my rifle at the people inside and ordered them down to the ground, as 1 security officer reached for his holster I sighted my rifle and pulled the trigger, giving a short burst of about 5 rounds into him, and then walked up and put one in his head. Everyone began to comply then. I saw my partner round the corner with someone who appeared to be the ambassador and threw him down onto the ground and planted his foot on the back of his head. We'd just captured an embassy.

Sir,

Having considered your offer, I am happy to accept, we are currently need of logistical support, our federal troops are having trouble reaching the capital due to the mountainous terrain. We wish for your troops to, if possible, provide transport to our soldiers so we can stop these treasonous acts of our soldiers. You're authorized to use deadly force when deemed necessary, and detain soldiers whom you feel have gone rouge. With this, we hope to begin a successful operation with your government.

We will deploy a smaller force of about 800 combat troops. However, if we are not able to deploy tanks, we would like to at least be able to deploy IFVs as a substitute, which though not as heavily armed as tanks, would be better armored, and better transports for our infantry than more lightly protected LY-83 Foxes.

Our seahawk helicopter taking off. It will also have two Defender helicopters follow it.
We also have 10 Merlin helicopters in our base in Sacheyenya that will come to carry your troops.
About the Marines, we can only send 20 due to limited space in our sea helicopters. They are expected to arrive within the hour.

Sondsteadish Embassy
Koshelev, Kamchastkia
6:50 PM local time

The scarce sun of the northern hemisphere winter already gone from the sky, the Gyronnyin flag of Sondstead fluttered in the cold wind outside of a fair sized townhouse that housed the United Kingdom's embassy near central Koshelev, bathed in warm yellow light from the windows of the upper floors. The streets of the quiet, well-to-do neighborhood of Kamchastkia's capital were not usually disquieted, and this night was no exception. A few cars passed — their nameplates of "Forza", "Monteluci", and "VLT" revealing, crystal clear, that the comers and goers of this street were of the upper crust of the mostly upper-middle income country — while Kamchastkia was not particularly poor, the EIT had reminded the embassy staff before their departure that, officially, Kamchastkia remained classified as a developing country.

The second highest ranking among that staff was the charge d'affaires, E̊ugje̊n Jösefssünr. While only thirty-seven and with little experience in foreign affairs, he was, on the small staff of junior Ministry for Foreign Affairs employees picked out to run Sondstead's embassy to the tiny, young state, practically a grizzled veteran — the Ambassador herself was only thirty-one!

Jösefssünr had been spending the evening examining intelligence reports (a less important task than it sounded, in this case) and Kamchastkian news sources (given his subpar grasp of Russian, this was the harder of the two for him) while Ambassador Mörgen and the trade attache dined with a prominent local businessman who had expressed interest in a distribution deal with a major Sondsteadish corporation. This time, though, it didn't take Russian fluency to figure out what had for the past twenty minutes now been gripping the newsroom of KAMT, the country's public broadcaster; loud protesters in parliament, burning cars outside the Presidential palace, and finally, gunfire. It was hard to tell on the tape; a handgun was fired by a protester, followed by a several policemen ducking. Or had one of them fallen from the shot? Not even a minute later, the capitol guards opened fire into the increasingly violent crowd, all captured, chillingly, by the cameras.

Jösefssünr had by now left his office, intelligence reports in hand, and strode down the hallway, making for the dining room on the first floor. He would have to inform Ambassador Mörgen immediately. Turning the corner into the first floor hallway, however, he felt himself, without warning, be shoved to the floor. A split second later, he felt a foot pressed against the back of his head — and, as far as he could tell, the barrel of an assault rifle as well.

"Ne peremeshchaĭte!". "Don't move".

"Vy ne pon-". "You have misunderstood", he tried to reply.

"NE PEREMESHCHAĬTE!"

Just then, he heard a door swing open with a bang. If it were the two other guards, who'd been at the dining room, and they fired, Jösefssünr assumed he would surely die. He closed his eyes and whispered a prayer under his breath. The events that followed happened far too fast for him the comprehend; as far as he could tell, his assailant jolted his rifle up, and then, he knew, he could hear gunfire just above his head.

Upon hearing the gunshots, the two guards inside the dining room instictevely reached for their holsters — they had been briefed on the far-right protests not far from the embassy that morning, and with a well known Kamchastkian national dining with the Ambassador that night, they had taken the precaution of retrieving the three Glock 17 pistols stored at the embassy. The senior guard, a lieutenant 2nd class in the army and veteran of the Sondsteadish peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan motioned to the other, and both drew their pistols and slammed open the door. Two men, both armed with assault rifles, were standing over the body of, it appeared, one of the diplomatic staff. The man who appeared to be the leader had placed his boot firmly on the man's head with the barrel of his rifle next to it.

It only took a split second for the man to raise his rifle, while his partner aimed his. The lieutenant said a short prayer to himself, and both guards aimed and depressed the triggers on their semi-automatic guns.

ARS Laisuu
Flight Deck
7:15 PM local time

Soldiers boarded helicopters aboard the amphibious assault ship Laisuu, among them Corporal Ben Kollokii. The 24-year old, hailing from the city of Upaamar, took his seat in the IH-6 Nightowl. As the last of his platoon-mates boarded the helicopter, the platoon commander started speaking in his loud voice, which commanded attention and respect. Kollokii paid no attention to all the motivational stuff the man said, he simply stared like the rest and thought of other things, his brain singling out all the important stuff and bringing it to his conscience. Before he knew it, the lecture was done, and the helicopter gently lifted off from the ship. Below, like little water bugs in a pond, hovercraft delivered vehicles, supplies, and troops to shore. Those were the troops that got vehicles, the lucky ones. They got to be late to the party and be the ones to bring the refreshments. As the helicopter flew farther inland, Kollokii observed long lines of military vehicles extending from the beach. At first logistics and convoy security vehicles, but towards the front of the line the vehicles were instead Sorcha IFVs and various LY-83 Foxes. Maybe there would be time to take a quick nap in this helicopter, maybe 10 to 30 minutes, he didn't know.

Chancellery Compound, Koshelev, Kamchastkia
Residence of the Ruskanorian Chancellor

"That's bullshit, Charles. I'm not staying here, and that's final."

Charles Bernadotte, head of the diplomatic corps of Ruskanoria, appeared almost sympathetic on the video conversation. "Come on, Phillip," he said cajolingly to the greying older man. "Without you on the ground, there's little chance that Ruskanoria can keep in touch with the Kamchastkian government -"

Phillip, the Ruskanorian Chancellor to Kamchastkia, interrupted him. Wagging his finger, he accused, "Even if I wanted to, there's no way I can contact the government. Their president's gone missing-in-action, probably captured. If I stayed in Koshelev, I'd be putting the lives of my men and myself into risk for nothing." Relenting, the Chancellor added, "Perhaps it's time we explored some other resolution. Talk to the boys in the Army."

Charles looked gloomy on the screen, next to news reports of the conflict, which creeped ever closer. "You're dead set on this?" Phillip nodded. "Very well," he said. "I'll arrange pick-up for you, personnel, and confidential stuff."

"What about the furniture?"

"The barmy furniture can wait," Charles said, irritated. "This is a limited military extraction mission, and given how unstable things are over there, I don't think you would want to wait for furniture while your life is at risk."

"Alright," Phillip nodded again. "I'll see you then - fuck!" The power died out, leaving Phillip hanging.

Outside, the security guards pushed back citizens, who yelled in Russian. "We're sorry," they said, trying to make themselves heard over the loudspeakers, "The Chancellery will be closed for the time being. You are unable to seek consular services here. We repeat, you are unable to seek consular services here." The crowd pushed and jostled.

The iron-wrought gates remained firmly locked and closed, with a sign outside that read,

Due to security risks and ongoing hostilities, the Chancellery of the Kingdom
of Ruskanoria in Kamchastkia shall be temporarily closed. Thank you.

The other man began segregating the room between those whom are fit for combat, and those whom are not (specifically by age and gender). After segregating the room, he began tying up the others as more gunfire could be heard throughout the street, along with the distant, constant siren, meaning probably that a police officer was killed with it on. Many had to be dead, and the revolutionaries knew this.

OOC: Especially since your post no longer describes the police defectors having gathered up the embassy staff and segregated them, I'm not sure who he grabbed on to. Remember this is still just after the defectors entered. At the time they entered, the situation was presumably as such;

  • One guard in the front hall, who was shot and killed in the initial entry.
  • The ambassador, the trade attaché, two of the guards, much of the service staff, and a Kamchastkian national (a businessman) in the dining room and kitchen area.
  • The charge d'affairs in a second floor hallway, heading for the dining room area.
  • The cultural attaché and the rest of the service staff upstairs in their rooms.
After entering, assuming all three of the police officers in the embassy unit defected and are in the building, two of them are in the hallway. If the third officer is in the building, he presumably went upstairs and may have been gathering up the people remaining on the second floor, but the bulk of the embassy staff is still in the dining room.

And finally, if you aren't going to read other people's posts, I'm not sure this can really be an effective RP.

One police officer fell as several gun shots could be heard from where the officer fell. The other officer aimed his weapon towards the gun fire and set his finger on the trigger, waiting for the smoke to finish, his ears still ringing from the loud gunfire. As the smoke cleared he saw 2 men with pistols who he assumed were security guards he sighted his rifle at one guard and pulled the trigger, and mumbled to himself something uncomprehendable, and then let go of the trigger, and started for exit of the embassy.

The tables had turned, it seemed. They must've been alone, the lieutenant thought. There were only three Sondsteadish security guards at the embassy and they only pistols, whereas these men had assault rifles. So there must've just been the two of them, otherwise they would've known they outnumbered the embassy guards.

"Ostanovitʹ. Opustitʹ ruzhʹye."

Stop. Put down the gun.

With the situation having calmed down, the guard was able to size up what had happened. The two men were both wearing Kamchastkian federal police uniforms. He suddenly had a sinking feeling in his stomach; the man him and his partner had just shot and the man making for the embassy doors were both from the diplomatic police protection unit that had been assigned to the Sondsteadish diplomatic mission.

"Ne peremeshchaĭte! Ne peremeshchaĭte!", he shouted after the retreating man, training his pistol on the man's back.

Sondstead Embassy

The Police Officer rounded the corner after exiting the embassy, and stood outside, waiting to pounce on the man if he came out. He saw another police car arrive at the embassy, and 1 officer exit gun drawn and raised it towards the embassy building.

(( Sorry for the short post, not much I could do. ))

The lieutenant strode towards the front hall after the man. Passing through the front hallway, he noted the body of the third security guard. Feldwebel Märten Bröwer had been a friend of his since his tour of duty in Afghanistan, when they had both been stationed in Chaghcharan. He felt even more angered and saddened, but no matter what his feelings, protecting the safety of the embassy staff came first.

Reaching the front of the embassy, he peered out the window. The man was outside, still holding his rifle, and had been joined by at least one other officer, who himself was aiming his gun at the embassy. A police car had pulled up as well; he knew the diplomatic police unit was just three men, but if some of Kamchastkia's most elite police had defected, who knew how many more men were inside the car?

It was too risky for too little benefit. The lieutenant withdrew. As he returned to the hallway, he knelt down beside his fallen compatriot. After whispering a short prayer, he motioned a salute, and drew Bröwer's Glock from it's holster, before returning to the hallway. Passing the body of the police officer, he soon arrived at the doors to the dining room.

"Mrs. Ambassador? Mr. Jösefssünr?"

"I'm fine, just... shaken...", the charge d'affairs replied.

"Me as well", Ambassador Mörgen added.

"I've briefed the Ambassador on the overall situation", Jösefssünr continued. "What have you figured out about that raid?".

The lieutenant looked grim. "They were from the diplomatic protection unit. There are more of them outside; it seems some of the government forces are going rogue. Mr. Mörgen?"

"Yes?", the ambassador's husband replied. He was a young, slender man, with short light brown hair, grey eyes, and a trim beard, and was physically in excellent shape. The lieutenant handed him Bröwer's pistol. Jen hesitated briefly, then took it. He didn't want the situation to escalate, obviously, but he knew full well how to use the Glock. He hadn't soon forgotten what he had learned from his nine months of national service, or from his week-long refresher exercises the previous year. The lieutenant gave his own gun and holster to one of the maintenance staff — he had also been a conscript — and again exited the room, retrieving for himself the assault rifle of the fallen police officer; a newer model Kalashnikov, it seemed.

The ambassador, meanwhile, had wired a diplomatic cable to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs detailing the situation. The charge d'affairs and the younger guard proceeded to the ambassador's office, and dialed the Kamchastkian foreign ministry on the secured embassy telephone line.

OOC: Wait... Rereading your post Kamchastkia, somehow I missed that he had actually shot, not decided to retreat...

I'll retcon my last two posts and start over from there if you want.

OOC: Just because he shot doesn't mean he was on target. :P Don't worry about it.

Kamchastkian Presidential Palace
Koshelev, Kamchastkia
7:35 PM local time

Corporal Kollokii woke up as the sun was setting over Koshelev. Looking out the back of the helicopter, he could see smoke rising from various points in the city, and he could hear the constant wail of police sirens, accompanied by gunfire. Soon, the co-pilot alerted the passengers that the helicopter would be landing at the Presidential Palace within a few minutes. As the helicopter descended, he could see more clearly people running through the streets, and he could look straight into the fires of burning automobiles. "Prepare for landing!", the co-pilot shouted, as the helicopter lowered itself into a large, spacious yard of the Presidential Palace. Other helicopters were landing elsewhere, and soldiers rushed out the doors, or slid down ropes into the courtyard. The orders of this company of infantry were to hold down and rally at this palace, waiting for orders while ensuring the rebels did not take the palace and execute the president. The corporal grabbed his rifle, donned his helmet, and set out of the helicopter, following his squad leader.
