IIRC, most PhD programs are doing extensive research and writing a major, specific argument using that research and addressing every piece of that point. Some programs are subject to public review, where you present the argument orally and engage in question and answer with a board of professors. Some places you submit the argument by itself.

Then the other day a friend told me that in his karate classes yawning is disrespectful, so if the instructor sees you yawn: 10 pushups. So I said ''What if hears but not sees you?'' And he says ''Don't be so specific you idiot.'' I get so angry, I throw a ball right in his stomach. And I feel ignored. Other than that, school projects.
