What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

I said I observed. I didn't go in for self experimentation...well unless booze or drugs were involved somehow.

I've seen that. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in high school, my teacher asked [name redacted] where Iraq was on the map. The conversation went as follows.

"Please point to Iraq on the map."
"The what?"
"Iraq?"
"No, the map."
"Yes, on the map. Point to Iraq."
"What's a map?"
"The large picture of the world behind me."
"The wall?"
"The map is on the wall."
"Behind you?"
"Yes."
"What?"
Class clown: "He's on second."

"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Until the other day when this was discussed on a local radio morning talk show, I didn't know about "PEMDAS" either.

Then again, when I was in school, we were simply expected to learn the precedence of operations. Period. "Acronyms? We don't need no stinking acronyms."

Which was probably a good thing, since the acronym doesn't indicate that the reflexive operators are equal in precedence. It also excludes modulo, unary, bitwise, and logical operators....

Geography of the First World. Granted, my worldview is somewhat Eurocentric, but in my mind, every Western citizen should have at least a basic grasp of geography of the civilized world. One thing is not knowing where exactly Burkina Faso is located, but I can never stop being amused at people who think Europe is a country, or Swedes who ask if I have computers in my homeland that's 40 minutes flight across the sea from them.
Proud National Socialist. Blaming everything on the liberals since 2000.

The world is full of criminal enterprises and terrorist organizations. The most successful ones are known as states.

Life is like surfing the Internet - there's no meaning or purpose, yet you don't really want to quit either.

The fact that slaves are allowed to elect their masters does not abolish the division in masters and slaves.

Don't try to deride me by calling me an "-ist" or "-phobe" unless you are referring to a medical condition or are trying to compliment me.

Socially-liberal capitalist democracy DOES NOT equate to free society.

Contrary to popular belief, National Socialists aren't racists. They simply hate their own race less than others.

However, when dealing with the American education system, you need to dumb things down a lot.

I don't say this to mock American students, just the school system.
