The Star Wars vs. WH40K Debate

This is stemming from a debate that happened in a factbook thread and myself and the OP asked us to move the debate to another thread. Feel free yourself to pitch in your own ideas and commentary on the discussion. So what are we discussing exactly?

Really it has started over who could beat who in pitched combat and win. So far we haven't heard much from the Halo sector but have established the covenant are weaker than they appear. The UNSC hasn't been mentioned in detail. Right now the biggest debate is that Star Wars ships have biggers weapons, but that most are impractical in their usage.

Yeah if he were able to leave the confines of the Golden Throne and Terra. My main point is that Star Wars is focused on impractical weapons. It doesn't make fiscal sense to blow up planets and create black holes. Or make ships that have crews of 700k. One ship goes boom and your Navy lost a foot.

I know just about enough about Star Wars and Halo to say with confidence that Warhammer 40K would crush them both.

Doctor Who, of course, beats them all.

Right now the biggest debate is that Star Wars ships have biggers weapons, but that most are impractical in their usage.

The DS gun was used the way it should be in the Battle of Endor. Fire on major units with a gun thought for planets, but accurate and manageable enough to be aimed at starcrafts.
The DS pretty much wins anytime... provided you use
a) your bloody complement of 72 bloody ISDs, each one of them full-complement, to protect it from small crafts and
b) a bloody steel grate in front of the bloody exhaust port.

Anyway, given my weapon of choice, I'd have a sonic thingamajig and an Bistromathic Drive.

The only thing that came out of that was that someone playing the Sangheili Empire was trying to say the Covenant would win against the Imperium. Yes really Halo could be stomped by anyone.

UNSC is underpowered but the Covenant isn't.

The Covenant is only so far ahead of the UNSC, and can still be beaten by them if the battle was made to favor humanity. So, they'd get crushed too.

Imperium of Man wins the battles, Empire wins the war for the simple fact that the SW ships have FTL that isn't reliant going though literal hell.

I played Halo 4; No curbstomping went on. The UNSC came in and went about crushing the remnants of a broken fleet, with their best ship. Hardly what one would call epic.

EDIT: Also, I don't think we know the status of diplomatic relations between humanity and the Covenant Separatists yet. They could very well be sharing tech by now.

40k would kill both. Simple as that. As for the why: a million planets with millions in military material (the resource here is manpower) for EACH planet can be mustered. 40k ships are much bigger than similars in Star Wars and Halo but contain weapons that can decimate planets on a regular basis (it's called Exterminatus and is done very liberally). Adeptus Astartes are demi-gods and a hundred can liberate a planet and they usually use a few more for that kind of job. Plus they walk through enemy fire as if it's rain. Neither Imperial Storm Troopers nor Jedi nor anything the Halo verse can muster can defeat a bunch of Adeptus Astartes. A boarding action for them is a walk in the park. Plus the Space Navy in 40k has to fight cyber deamons from hell, space witch elves and strange fungus madmen on a daily basis, hardly will they break a sweat against a bunch of Jedis or a few Spartans.
