Slembanan Premier League – 2016-17 season review

Bafilo United are the champions once again! They lost just three games in the whole season to finish top of the table with 97 points, finishing 16 points clear of Chelsea City and Anderson City, who shared second place in the table. Chelsea finished above Anderson due to better goal difference. Bafilo City completed the top four. Yavelsk Rovers failed to finish in the top four for the third season in a row, causing manager Max Barton to be sacked. Bolton City, who were joint-second midway through the season, fell apart in the second half, and finished in seventh place. Taxels, as well as both Poyvin teams, were relegated to the First Division.

It's that time of year again, the year when the Aussie Rules posts are put away and the goals put up. The National Final has taken place, with Beleponta defeating Otagaza, but all attention is turned to the football field as Division 1 gets going. Predictions

Well obviously the two Afferland clubs will definitely be competing for the trophy, but who will come out on top. The first Afferland derby takes place on Matchday 15, at the Scarrafalla. Paul Thompson will look to take another one over his close rival William Drinkall, as he is the manager who has the most wins over Drinkall's club. But the fixture of the season has to come on the final day, when the reverse fixture occurs at the Beachside, that could decide the winner of the trophy. Third place is a genuine toss-up. Ujturea, Otagaza or Beauty Head? They could all take it. Meanwhile at the bottom it is a little more clear. Berricktown Diamond and Fell-Hill are pretty much dead certs. But who joins them in Division 2 is a bit sketchy. Highfield Corinthians are probably most likely to go down, but Purdey and the Tigers could replace them.

The derbies are going to be particularly tasty this season. As aforementioned, the Afferland derbies will not want to be missed. Both sides are loaded with talent, and they both play fast, attacking football. The Southern derby, between Balaga and South Shore Urban will be good, but a much more conservative game with two strong defences. The Highfield derby between the Corinthians and Antwich is always one which produces goals, but one clear winner is predicted this season.

But all the talk goes out the window as the season kicks off...

Only 10 games in, yet we have still had plenty of entertainment and drama. The first day saw a thrilling draw between Otagaza FC and Sporting Balaga. We have seen plenty of goals, plenty of drama, including an unprecedented 4 red cards in the game between BHH and Gardell Lake Rangers in Round 2. The biggest result of the round came Fell-Hill Scots FC smashed 6 past Sporting Balaga to set off what has been the worse start for them in their history. The best game of the round was a see-saw battle between Purdey Athletic and Gardell Athletic, which saw Purdey striker Thomas Neilson struck twice in the last five minutes to steal the game away from the Robins.

As expected, the two Afferland clubs were sort of running away with it. Both remained undefeated, with Celtic just topping the league having two more points than their cross town rivals, thanks to a brilliant defensive performance by the Berricktown defence. Both teams, with their brilliant line-ups, had proven that they could both get the results when needed, and play brilliant football. Sporting's star-studded line up had shown their worth: International's Darrell and Crawford linking up nicely in the midfield on regular occasions. There had been a rather disappointing chase by the other teams. The closest to the Afferland pair was, surprisingly, the Haventown based club of East Islands, who lay in third with just 18 points, 10 points off the top. But in a league where domination is expected, those 3rd and 4th place finishes are valuable. 4th spot was occupied by Otagaza FC, who'd staved off competition from who'd have guessed it?: Fell-Hill. The relegation favourites had played some brilliant football and had gotten some great results, leaving them safe in 5th, possibly even challenging for International Spots. Jamie Forster had been their main goal-getter with 8 goals. Berricktown Diamonds were getting some respect, and results. They lay in 7th place, just two behind Fell-Hill. The middle of the table was very bunched up, with four teams on 13 points. At the bottom, a rather stunned Sporting Balaga sat rooted to the bottom with just 5 measly points. Above them on 8 were FC Beleponta and Gardell Athletic. But the season is getting into full swing, and the most important match of the season was just around the corner...the Afferland Derby

Top Scorers: (after 10 games)

1. Robbie Norwich - Afferland Celtic - 12
2. Noel Shaw - Beauty Head Hawks - 8
3. Jonny Joseph - Ujturea Olympic - 7
4= Thomas Neilson - Purdey Athletic - 6
4= Padraig Stewart - Otagaza FC - 6

Beaverriver Soccer League System Season 16

After a successful season domestically, Trolls are AFC got knocked out in the early rounds of the Champions' Cup. Though they got to the group stage in the Globe Cup and ends up in 3rd place in the group with 5 points, the best result a Beaverriverian club has gotten in international competition. Rest of the Beaverriverian clubs had at most 2 wins in international competition. After a second place finish, Wes TY is looking for a first division title. Trolls are AFC is looking for it's second consecutive title, being only the second team to do it in the modern era of Beaverriver Soccer.

Darmeni Premier League: Season VIII Preview

Starting XI Code: (C)=Captain, (K)=Key Player, (Nation)=Foreign Player, (N)=National Team Player, (##)=Age
*Regarding Age of Foreing players: I'm simply going by what I have in my notes. For instance, Edgardo Mendoza, Forward for Scott City FC is definately not 24. If it's wrong, please let me know, or blame fluid time, whatever.

Season I-Scott City FC (1)
Season II-Scott City FC (2)
Season III-Scott City FC (3)
Season IV-Eau Claire Aris FC (1)
Season V-Scott City FC (4)
Season VI-Augusta (1)
Season VII-Scott City FC (5)

Augusta Logo Kits
Location: Augusta, Augusta
Stadium: Military Academy Stadium (28,500)
Manager: Michael Bilbrey
Starting XI: Watterson (20), Hikari (Northern Sunrise Islands, N, 22), Bacic (Mytannion, N, 21), Broggs (Boring Paradise, 32), Galbo (Boring Paradise, 20) , Hammam (21), Sikora (Mytannion, 17), Kross (Mytannion, 17), Crawford (Northern Sunrise Islands, N, 20), Eduardo (Northern Sunrise Islands, 25), Ayers (C, K, 18)
Last Season: 2nd
Prediction: Will have a very strong case for finishing top of the table, but will ultimately fall short to the powerhouse that is SCFC. 2nd.

Bloomer Football Club Logo Kits
Location: Bloomer, North Bloomer
Stadium: Darmen National Rugby Stadium (46,000)
Manager: Flamur Dibra
Starting XI: Minton (17), Daniels (23), Gonclaves (15), Jaber (15), Roy (C, 37), Cole (Mantwenic, N, 23), Guedes (15), Sol (16), Domene (38), Bradley (28), Altidore (27)
Last Season: 11th
Prediction: With the loss of Esterhazy, the international from Stachland, Bloomer FC has no hope. Bloomer did sign Marcus Cole from Mantwenic, but he's a young and untested midfielder, nothing like Estehazy. With its mix of old and young players, its only reliable source of good football comes from Bradley and Altidore up front. And with two fifteen year old defenders, it's quite amazing that Bloomer finished as high as they did last season. 15th.

Brady City Crunch Logo Kits
Location: Brady City, Brady
Stadium: Brady City Stadium (30,000)
Manager: Tyler Githliani
Starting XI: Müller (Antoletia, N, 24), Alexandre (Antoletia, N, 27), Locklear (18), Meekins (25), Talis (19), Borislow (19), Sala (Antoletia, N, 28), Esquire (C, K, Taeshan, 27), Batista (20), Vinson (25), Bradley (26)
Last Season: 3rd
Prediction: Esquire is heading into the second to last year on his contract, but is still scoring a ton of goals. With the three Antoletian Internationals signing three year extensions, the Crunch look like they'll be competitive at the top for the next couple of seasons at least. 3rd.

Brham United Logo Kits
Location: Brham, Brham
Stadium: Brham Stadium (54,000)
Manager: Edson Gomez
Starting XI: Weckström (Saugeais, 34), Lalas (C, 39), Rowe (24), James (28), Kreis (29), N. Agudelo (39), J. Agudelo (27), Henry (27), Zakuani (N, K, 23), Hooper (N, 23), Wen (20)
Last Season: 14th
Prediction: Brham was close to being involved in the relegation battle (what battle?) last season, and didn't do much in the off season to make their team any stronger. 16th.

Chippewa Falls Strykers Logo Kits
Location: Chippewa Falls, Chippewa Falls
Stadium: Golden Bowl (32,000)
Manager: Samuel Erickson
Starting XI: Siesman (N, 22), Santos (21), Garza (N, 22), Findley (N, 22), Sanderrson (21), Geruard (20), Tome (K, 19), Aikmar (20), La Rock (34), Autitore (N, 22), Pele (C, N, 25)
Last Season: 6th
Prediction: An extremely young Starting XI, average age of 22.5 years, has somehow been able to keep the Strykers in the top half of the table. But with no international talent on the roster, the Strykers just don't have enough to make a push for their first Premier League title. 7th.

Darmen City Football Club Logo Kits
Location: Darmen City, Darmen
Stadium: Tyger Stadium (39,000)
Manager: Schellas Adu
Starting XI: Ream (27), Ferreira (30), Mendoza (30), Perkins (27), Ayami (Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, K, 25), Pele (41), Keller (30), Whymark (24), DeMerit (25), Adu (36), Chaves (C, 30)
Last Season: 10th
Prediction: Another mid-table finish is in store for the boys from Darmen City. 9th.

Darmen City United Logo Kits
Location: Darmen City, Darmen
Stadium: Peari Stadium (40,000)
Manager: Jonathan Montgomery (Mangolana)
Starting XI: Jenaro (19), Edward (16), Legu (13), Williams (16), Michelangelo (C, 45), Studebaker (K, 21), Edwards (33), Tarcisio (13), Westley (21), Presecan (16), Porteas (25)
Last Season: 9th
Prediction: Still no International talent can be seen in the starting XI, and with an extremely young defense, and a 45 year old captain, its diffiult to tell where United will end up. 12th.

Eau Claire Aris Football Club Logo Kits
Location: Eau Claire, Eau Claire
Stadium: Aris Field (29,126)
Manager: Gearóid Drees
Starting XI: Osborne (C, N, 29), Rydzik (N, 25), Goodwin (N, 23), Vue (N, 27), Henslin (33), Magallon (28), Gumz (25), Jeorge (25), Detering (29), Brown (27), Baker (K, 33)
Last Season: 4th
Prediction: Aris FC lost their Manager, Mikael Gibbons, and his three sons, Aaron, Abraham, and Jake, to a vote buying scandal. A whole new lineup awaits Aris fans, but overall, the team is just as good as it was before. 4th.

Eau Claire United Logo Kits
Location: Eau Claire, Eau Claire
Stadium: Lyons Stadium (27,157)
Manager: Sir Tony Bordelli
Starting XI: Sumon (N, 22), Trump (35), Sheen (C, 33), Giles (Camwood, 34), Harris (35), Turko (N, K, 22), Guteirez (21), Lyons (N, 22), Bay (29), Gregio (N, 22), Ambrosio (21)
Last Season: 8th
Prediction: A much more experience squad awaits the tutoring of Sir Bordelli. Gregio and Turko look poised to have a big year. 5th.

Forden Logo Kits
Location: Tempala, Tempala
Stadium: Queens Stadium (86,000)
Manager: Ryan Ruiz
Starting XI: Brock (21), Sikula (N, 22), Stong (34), Wheeler (32), Yount (33), Miller (37), Judkins (C, 32), Brown (28), Macalé (Capivara Group, 32), Olson (23), Dittman (N, K, 22)
Last Season: 17th
Prediction: A possible battle to stay out of relegation could be ahead for Forden. The team is quite old in defense, and the midfield isn't much younger. Some promising young talent up front. 17th.

Guard Football Club Logo Kits
Location: Wilson, Chesham
Stadium: Guard Field (26,000)
Manager: Gurutz Zabala
Starting XI: Ferreira (25), Luna (22), Donaldson (25), Alam (24), Erin (24), Nabil (24), Espianoza (19), Fuller (Mangolana, C, 21), Riley (19), Marjama (25), Shiznikov (K, 26)
Last Season: 15th
Prediction: Sporting pretty much the same lineup as last year, the young players show some good promise, but haven't been able to put anything special together just yet. It's coming though. 14th.

Juggzy Football Club Logo Kits
Location: Rodell, Tilden
Stadium: Rodell Stadium (15,500)
Manager: IIario Padovan
Starting XI: Porsche (K, 18), Abana (33), Banister (34), Jerome (23), Geiger (30), Baart (C, 34), Orman (30), Dunn (25), Holt (32), Hummel (19), Caulfield (17)
Last Season: Champions, League Championship
Prediction: Up you go, down you go. 18th.

Menomonie United Logo Kits
Location: Menomonie, Menomonie
Stadium: Menomonie Stadium (29,000)
Manager: Mard der Sleter
Starting XI: Bowe (31), Lee (35), Sinapati (N, 23), Victor (28), Ramirez (N, 23), Salapu (N, K, 23), Molesi (N, 22), Whale (C, 31), Grevsthan (N, 22), Solofa (31), Gomez (30)
Last Season: 7th
Prediction: der Sleter has set a goal for his team to qualify for the Globe Cup. But with such a young team, it's hard to see them getting there. 6th.

Olympique Chuckio Logo Kits
Location: Chuckio, Chuckio
Stadium: Olympic Stadium (28,000)
Manager: Giovanni Hendriks

Derby Previews

Darmen City Derby
Current Teams: Darmen City FC and Darmen City United
Past Teams: Darmen City AC
Season III-Darmen City United (1)
Season IV-Darmen City United (2)
Season V-Darmen City FC (1)
Season VI-Darmen City FC (2)
Season VII-Darmen City United (3)
Prediction: If the pattern continues, this is United's year to win. The teams from Darmen City finished 9th and 10th in the Premier League last season, and both games in that seasons Derby were very close. It could go either way.
Eau Claire Derby
Current Teams: Eau Caire Aris FC and Eau Claire United
Past Teams: NA
Season I-Eau Claire Aris FC (1)
Season II-Eau Claire Aris FC (2)
Season III-Eau Claire Aris FC (3)
Season IV-Eau Claire Aris FC (4)
Season V-Eau Claire Aris FC (5)
Season VI-Eau Claire United (1)
Season VII-Eau Claire Aris FC (6)
Prediction: In a matchup dominated by Eau Claire Aris FC, it's hard to even think about picking United to win. But with Aris FC losing their Manager and three key players to a vote buying scandal, the playing field seems to be a bit more level than it was last season. Both games should finish quite close, with United having the upper hand.
Scott City Derby (Also known as the Capital Derby)
Current Teams: Scott City Beat, Scott City FC, and Scott City UC
Past Teams: NA
Season II-Scott City Beat (1)
Season III-Shared
Season IV-Scott City FC (2)
Season V-Scott City FC (3)
Season VI-Scott City Beat (3)
Season VII-Scott City FC (4)
Prediction: You would think that Scott City FC would have dominated the Capital Derby from the start, but that simply has just not happened. The Beat have upset their cross town rivals several times to claim the Capital Derby Trophy, but will be fighting to stay out of relegation this season after the loss of several key players. Scott City University Club is making their first appearence in the Derby, which means that six matches in total will have to be played by the three teams to decide the Derby winner. With the competition that long, Scott City FC clearly has the upper hand.
Tilden County Derby
Current Teams: Juggzy FC and Tilden Mutiny
Past Team: First Season Contested
Past Winners: First Season Contested
Prediction: Tilden Mutiny have more experience at top level football, but Juggzy FC are not a team which can be taken lightly. Mutiny have the upper hand, but it will extremely close.

The Astograthian Football League: Season 652 Preview
Sponsored by
Image

The nineteenth season of Astograthian football is all set to kick off with Urbizania Wanderers looking to defend their first ever league title and regain some of the pride lost in the Copa de Campeones final against FC Axel Heiburg. Echegoyan FC, Ituraitz FC and Royal Rumiatzi are all in with a shout as well, while Astograth University have some soul-searching to do before they get back on top. Ituraitz Victory, Athletic Club Olarria, Blue Mountain Range and the defending Royal Cup champions Oyardo FC are all on relatively good footing to go for Globe Cup spots. Urizaharra FC will be making their First Division début and have a seasoned squad to deal with its perils, while South Factory make their triumphant return and Ibarbe Polo Club - now granted permission from the Grand Duke to call itself the Royal Ibarbe Sports Club - are giddy to at long last be in the top tier again. Gortz United, for their part, are now lacking Dei Ormache but can still produce surprises with their team of stars from days of yore. Signings were all fairly low-key, by far the most attractive being Athletic Club Olarria's capture of a former Tern, 35 year-old Amadeus Irndtor, who can yet shake things up in the north coast.

Transfers
- Iratze Errekaborde from Sporting Iturributa (Iturributa) to Gortz United
- Amadeus Irndtor (Polar Islandstates) from SK Franz Josef City (PIS) to Athletic Club Olarria
- Salum Merec (Mytannion), previously at Echegoyan FC, retired from football
- Dei Ormache, previously at Gortz United, retired from football
- Wolfgang Sandberg (Polar Islandstates), previously at Ituraitz Victory, retired from football
- Inguma Sapano (Iturributa), previously at Astograth University, retired from football
- Roger Steiner (United Gordonopia) from FC Deska (UGO) to Ituraitz FC

The Iturributan Premier Division: Season 652 Preview

The sixth season of Iturributan football is upon us, once more featuring everyone's favourite title duopoly! The gap has been closing in recent years, to be fair, but the gulf in class between the two Iturributan giants and the rest – even with Iturributa Racing Club, who have pipped them to two President's Cups – is still too large for the title to realistically be won by anyone else.

Therefore, Sporting will be looking to win its fourth national double while Iturributa United still seeks its first – and especially the elusive President's Cup. Neither side has been massively transformed, though former winger Eneko Dicharry will be taking up his first job in top-flight football by managing Sporting after the departure of the eternal Egoi Azarola. This will also be the last season of Sporting's stalwart captain, Zernin Aira, currently 37 years old. Further down the table it's all much the same; Freedom look to take down Iturributa Racing, Indepedent Garitzeta and Garitzeta Racing battle it out for a fifth place that will now grant Globe Cup access, and then it's a mad tussle to avoid the drop. Guenara City, this season's promoted team and probably the most endangered, are nonetheless doubly glad to be in the Premier Division due to replacing hated rivals Guenara Defender.

What do the teams have to play for on the final matchday?
Scott City FC: Nothing. They're already guaranteed the League title.
Augusta: Nothing. They're already guaranteed a second place finish.
Eau Claire Aris FC: Nothing, they don't play on the final matchday. Guaranteed third place finish.
Eau Claire United: Nothing. They're already guaranteed a fourth place finish.
Chippewa Falls Strykers: Must win to stay ahead of the Stars if they wish to gain the final spot in the Globe Cup. A draw or loss, and they'll only be able to play in the Commonwealth Champions' League.
Sterling City Stars: A win, with a Strykers draw or loss, and they're into the Globe Cup. A Draw, and a Strykers loss, and it'll go down to Goal Differential, which the Strykers have a large advantage in. A Loss, no matter what the Strykers do, will mean that the Stars will be in the CCL.
Rogerton Whitecaps: A win, with a Strykers loss and a Stars loss, will go to the Globe Cup, anything else, they're in the CCL.
Brady City Crunch: Same as above, although they'll need the Whitecaps to draw or lose.
Menomonie United: Nothing. They're already guaranteed a CCL spot, and can only finish as high as seventh.
Brham United: Nothing. They're already guaranteed a spot in the Copa de Mercury playoff. Not to mention that they don't play on the final matchday.

Scott City Beat: Not much. Guaranteed to stay in Premier League for next season.
Guard FC: Nothing, they don't play on the final matchday.

Host Bid for UICA Competitions:

Globe Cup: Dragon Stadium, Canalave (Cap. 50,987)

Despite not counting with the endorsement of the Valladar Football Association for this bid, both the Mayoralty of Canalave and the Executive Board of Canalave Dragons Football Club wish to put Dragon Stadium to the consideration of the UICA Selection Committee as a potential venue for the next Globe Cup final.

Located to the east of the city of Canalave, in the Trefford neighbourhood, 15 minutes away from the city centre, and mostly known for being the venue for the Canalave Crown match, this stadium was built in 1993 and initially seated 35,000 fans, however, it was unpopular among Canalave Dragons' fans and football fans in general due to its shape and the fact that the stands were too far from the field, hence failing to create an ideal atmosphere for the game. Currently it is undergoing remodeling works which will bring the stands closer to the pitch and will also replace the old bowl-shaped stands by four rectangular, all-seated stands, increasing the stadium's capacity from 35,000 to 50,987 in the process.

Due to those works, the stadium's capacity for Canalave Dragons' home games in the most recent Valladar Super League season (30) was 34,742. At the moment, the stadium is still surrounded by cranes, but both the Mayoralty and the team's Board guarantee to the UICA Selection Committee that they will be gone and the stadium's remodeling works completed by the time the match takes place.

The Iturributan Premier Division: Season 652 Review
Preview

Welcome to the sixth season of Iturributan football! Perhaps less detailed and memorable than most others, but nonetheless worth a look at, with records broken and the balance ever so slowly being upset...

Premier Division
Scoring an insane amount of goals (an average of 2.8 per match), Iturributa United have nabbed their third Iturributan Premier Division title to match Sporting's three. Aided by Otz Lasuen, Elwyn Richard and Zilar Oramuno, the club's most statistically prolific attacking trio ever, United took the lead almost halfway through the season, despite a lacklustre start, and held it all the way to the end - though not without trouble. Sporting, as always, hunted relentlesly, but in his second year in charge Petter BIelsen built a well-oiled machine that, though lacking in the climactic Iturributan Derbies that are the highlight of every season, maintained itself consistent in fending off the challenge of smaller teams that Eneko Dicharry's men succumbed to. Minor slips and a final charge by the Chevrons meant there was a single point difference on the last matchday, but United sent Iturributa Racing Club packing with a fantastic Richard hat-trick to win their third Premier Division at Old City Stadium.

Further down, Garitzeta Racing Club surprised even themselves by finishing a lofty third, them and Freedom FC pushing the traditional "third team" Iturributa Racing down to fifth. Still good enough for the Globe Cup, as it turns out, which wasn't the case for a very bitter Independent Garitzeta and the other bottom feeders. Guenara City had a particularly dire tournament, managing barely 14 points and heading straight back down to the second tier.

Premier Division B
Perennial promotion candidates Uzio Blackstar have at last run out as worthy winners, outclassing the other strong pretenders who, with two points of separation between second and fourth place, will have to conform themselves with the Series B Champions' Cup. Focus FC and Guenara Defender, both founding members of the Premier Division, were surprisingly average and struggled to cope with the 44-match season.

They said it would be easy, they said Garitzeta Racing had taken out only weak teams, they said a lot of things - and not without reason, what with Sporting being a domestic powerhouse that took out the other big contender in the Round of 16 - but ultimately, it came down to who had more heart. Garitzeta Racing, buoyed by their unexpected third-place finish in the Premier Division, took the game to Sporting at Old City Stadium and scored past their impenetrable defense as the clock wound down, new club hero Iraitz Echeberry skinning none other than Sotil Burruchaga and curling it past a bewildered Zernin Aira.

Sporting took the lead in the second leg with a clear penalty for handball; Falkes was sent off for Garitzeta Racing and Yeremi Belaustigetigoitia got the opener. Iraitz Echeberry again raised himself as the man of the match, rallying the ten-man team to hold on for the second half and then going forth against the mentally weary Chevrons. A Berdaitz Ernaut header from an Echeberry cross crowned an epic night in Garitzeta, as Racing won their very first silverware, at home.
