In the distant past.

Minh stood around a table. "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you." sang some friends and family. It had been a somewhat cold winter in Russia this year, but they had all come to visit. Aunts, uncles, his mother and the like. The tenth birthday was important, after all. But a booming voice cut in between the rest. "Happy birthday!" came a distorted growl.

Suddenly, a knock on the door and Crowley barged in. "You." he said to his biology teacher. Minh blinked and opened his eyes, now in the present day again. So it was a dream. Unfortunate.

"Yes, sir?" he asked in a tired way.

Crowley glanced at a scrapbook on Minh's desk. "Looking at old pictures?" he asked.

"Sometimes it's nice to be nostalgic." he said, standing up. "I'll be back, Aleister. Papers to grade." he said, walking off.

Crowley looked at a few pictures and frowned at one. "Minh, who's this masked man in this one?" he asked, pointing to the one labelled "10th Birthday".

"What masked man?"

Crowley looked again. "Must be imagining things." he said, closing the book and walking off.

I just realised that we befriended two grumpy old lizards who have told us about an Ancient magic nuke and now we're going to break open a tomb while in a pyramid after we met what is basically Bane meets the Silence.
