"But of course. I will shield the local cluster while you do your business, my liege. This is not the first nor last time I have been drawn to protect my work in the event of an Unification Event, I assure you, and removing this section will only destabilize the order within this Universe's nature."
"Veridius, I trust you with them. You have proven well in your calculations and your work is most satisfying, but should you fail to preserve them, your services will no longer be necessary."
"Of course."

Darius left the Aetherian, having finished all his necessary duties and conferencing with his superior - a great danger approached the farthest regions of this Universe but Darius could not risk throwing off this Universe's order in removing the local galactic cluster from it, so he would shield it.
This danger was actually an alternate version of his ruling entity coming into contact with this Universe. This was common in new found realms, and it was quite possible they would become hostile when coming into contact with his own entity. The entire ordeal could result in this universe being completely destroyed, or, his entity and theirs combining into one - which is what usually happened. In either case, he had the Aetherian begin expanding the sensory field far beyond the Galaxy, millions and millions of light years outward, as a sort of alarm. If Universal fabric began to come apart, he could hopefully remove this galaxy from the danger. If he failed, though, it was all over.
But of course, there was only a .1% chance of such events transpiring. Then again, .1% is all that is needed to end it all.
