- The Union of Nondescript RPers, huh? What is it? What isn't it?
Okay, a couple of good questions. The Union of Nondescript RPers (or UNR) is, simply put, a thread for people to find other people interested in a similar RP, and for people to maintain a standard of RPing. It is not, read: IT IS NOT an elitist union. This should be a standard of RPing that anyone can do. I maen its not Two hrad too spel corectly and use puntuaction. Also, anyone godmodding will be attacked with my super immortal witches of destruction!- Okay, third edition?
Yeah. We had the "Union of good RPers," and then the old UNR. You don't need to know anything whatsoever about them.- Why do I want to sign up for this, again?
Well, let's see. First, you can advertise for your RP. Second, you can see what the rest of the union has to offer. Third, you know those annoying RPs which insist on an RP sample? Bung some on the UNR thread and then you can just chuck the link in as your RP sample. If you decide that one of your RPs is really good, or that another is shocking now that you think about it? Go ahead and swap them around.- But II! And NS sports! And F&...

Because I wiped it. Otherwise, we'll have people in the union who have never posted in the UNR thread. You can just sign up again - if your old samples are still viable, you can just link to your old post.

The seven deadly sins of the UNR:
- Flaming. You can have a character who goes around murdering gays and blacks, but say a word against either in the OOC and you're out. Same goes for non-prejudical insults. You can scream and bawl at Pedro Ignacio until you're blue in the face (or he throws a fireball at you), but retain civility in the IC.
- Godmodding. Yes, one of my 300 epic knights of epic are allowed to be better than one of your 50,000 peasant warriors, but they're going to die eventually. They don't have plot armour, just plate mail. Generally, every side in a war should be about as good as every other.
- Hounding. Especially in regard to godmodding. Simply put, it's an easy enough mistake to write "hit" or even "killed" when you meant "shot." Check what people mean.
- Textwalling. I have Asperger's Syndrome, and thus find it inordinately hard to read textwalls. What exactly is it that you don't like about the return key?
- One-linering. Yes, this ranks below textwalling, because at least it gives me a vague idea of what's happening. In some RPs, it is an intergral and neccesary part of the roleplay. In most, it's not enough. For example, even in a game of D&D it's acceptable to write:
Leeroy casts quickened cure light wounds on himself, and then charges the goblin.
But why not write:
"Goddamn it." Leeroy realised how badly hurt he was, and quickly healed himself, before turning to the second goblin. "All right chums, let's do this.
LEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY"
ACTION: Quickened cure light wounds (Self), charge (Goblin 2).
I mean, it's still far from perfect, but it just shows that even in game RPs, you can still actually - well, roleplay!- Inactivity. If nobody responds to the IC, and they have no legitimate reason not to, it's a pain in the arse. Please stay active!
- Illegibility. This includes colour-spamming, (colours are fine for languages, Multiple personality/Ignacio's syndrome, multiple characters etc. but have a reason. And not too bright.) bad spelling and grammar, formatting that's broken, and so on. This also kind-of includes textwalling.
