Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

Týr is probably my favourite. He's not likely to screw you over, unlike pretty much every other god ever. Ninshubur is more interesting to me, though, since it's implied that, while she once ruled in her own right, she's now come to serve Inanna. It's just a shame we don't have any record of that particular tale. Plus, Y'know, she defends the goddess of war when she can't defend herself.

Weapons are nothing. Strategy is everything.

Religion is an expression of faith, not the faith itself. By religion, I mean the rituals, observances, prayers, hymns, etc... But your faith isn't something that can be quantified or described by your religion. Religion is merely the symbolic expression of faith. Religion is probably inconsequential in the grand scheme, but faith is everything.

If I may choose one of the Greek Titans (they seem deity-like enough), I would choose Prometheus as my favorite.

Well, Farn is the only one I know personally, and she's pretty cool. More generally, I'm a fan of Dionysus/Bacchus. Couldn't not be, wine is great. There's also the Flying Spaghetti Monster, for the Beer Volcano and Stripper Factory. Eris has also proven useful to me.

The Deist 'God', by far is the best god.

It doesn'y threaten us, nor does it give us any form of hope or compassion.

It simply lets us exist.

"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

We don't bother with it. I don't worship, praise, or pray to the Deist god. I simply agknowledge its existence and what it's done. I don't have any reason to thank it or fear it, just aknowledge it.
