Palmouth Elections 2009

Postby Palmouth » Sat Jun 20, 2009 11:02 am

Time for you to choose who you want as prime minster for Palmouth for 2009 onwards. You can choose from the following parties:

The Palmouth Demoratic Party - Leader: Harry King
Royal Party - Leader: King Matthew I
Labour and Liberal - Leader: Willam Adams
Palmouth National Party - Leader: Edward White

This has been a hard election campagin, with the The Palmouth Demoratic Party and the Royal Party joint favourites to win. Each vote means 1 sit for that party in the House of Roses, and at least 2 seats in the VVARDENFELL concil. Good luck to all parties, Voting starts now!

OOC: You do realize that in real life a National Party would aim for Authoritarian or Democratic Nationalism, right? The Royal party would be Monarchist or Constitutional Monarchist and the Liberal/Labor Party would support Social Democracy.

So this is Backwards Day?

You need to outline where the parties stand on specific issues - e.g. Who is pro-union and who is anti-union? Who wants to subsidize businesses? Who wants higher or lower taxes? Who wants to spend more on the military? Who wants to spend more or less on policing? Who's for or against welfare? Who's for or against capital punishment?

The Labour/Liberal Party would issue with everything and would follow advise before doing anything, the Royal Party makes it's leader do the decisions, but he focuses on the people as well, the Demoratic Party focuses on it's people and the National Party just sits back and let it all go worse before making things right .

However here is a poll from journalists in Palmouth saying who should win:

1st) Labour/Liberal 40%
2nd) Royal Party 30 %
3rd Palmouth Demoratic Party 20 %
4th Palmouth National Party 10%

That's better but they still need to take specific positions on specific issues. Leadership style doesn't mean much to voters. They want to know what the parties plan to do and how it will effect their lives.

I'm assuming the Labour and Liberal party would be a more left-wing choice? And I agree, people don't vote for someone if they don't know what they stand for... well, people who aren't in America anyways. While most people blindly voted for Obama, they failed to realise that he didn't actually address any issues, and because of this, most have failed to realise that he's actually done less good for the economy than Bush had done in his 8 years of presidency.
