Mallaskan Federal Navy

The 2nd Expeditionary Fleet of the Mallaskan Federal Navy cut through the waters of the Mallaskan Sea, quickly closing the gap between the large island nation and hosile United Gavran States Region. The fleet was the first task force other than aircraft dispatched to the troubled area, and with a recent attack of Mallaska's embassy in East Gavra had prompted war between the polar-opposite groups. The task force consisted of 14 ships total, 3 being Dock-Landing ships, 3 Replenishment ships, 2 Destroyers, and 6 Frigates.

"Underway, 16 Knots. Maintaining course." Said the helmsman aboard the destroyer FNV Kimberly, lead ship of the fleet. "Once we are out of Mallaskan waters, we'll need a Seasprite to scout ahead of us. I don't know what nasties that could be presented by the enemy. To my knowledge, they play about as fair as Oceans Eleven." Said Admiral Rhodes of the ship, while settling a day-old newspaper on his dashboard in the bridge.

Admiral Rhodes was a casual naval officer, recently taking the assignment to command Operation Ruby. The operation involved linkups with ships of the Royal Grenfield Navy, Rukandan Navy, and Royal Ammarvan Navy, to secure the waters around the allied nations of Gavrona, South Gavra, West Gavra, and North Gavra.

Mallaskan Government

President Scott Dresden slammed his fist to the desk, rarely something angered him as much for him to show such. "That long for more ships? The enemy can make more ships than we have right now in a month!" He said as his advisor told him. "And now you're saying, we can't afford more frigates until May?" He spat. "Tell Wade Shipyards they need to haul on the orders, I'm sick of authorizing foreign purchase that'll take a year!" He said, whisking his council away.

Keymoan Government

"Bah, I want their embassy destroyed, their people burned. I want every nation helping them or getting in our way dead. No humanitarian aid, peacekeeping, or the media!" Said Grand Leader Menla Keev on the phone with the leader of East Gavra. "Their numbers shall not hinder our pride. They are the nation to fall, not us." He said. "I'll be dispatching the 4th Fleet, hopefully it can blockade the ports in West and South Gavra vefore Mallaska can get boots there. We'll snuff out the traitors to our region first." He said in a blunt tone.

East Gavran Government

"I understand, sir. Our military has deployed 5,000 men to Central Gavra, to supplement their poor preparations for war." Said High Dictorate Lestrav Myres, sitting at his desk. "We must seek foreign support, Leader Keev, we do not have the numbers to contend with their whole region! They'll have a field day!" He said over the phone. "I only have 19 warships at the ready, and I know they will be using their vast naval force against us, thus, I've ordered to convserion of 23 cargo vessels into ships we can use until we can build a proper fleet. Mallaska is pending over 20 ships fr their Navy next year, if they get those at us by then, we're screwed. I also just heard that they are starting to get foreign support." Said Lestrav Myres in a hushed tone. "I'm releasing the hounds."

East Gavran National Navy

High Admiral Minns Yestravi paced about his office on the ENS Menastrive, lead ship of the East Gavran National Navy. He was speaking with his courier, about a message from Central Government. "The High Dictorate wants the fleet out of port by the 10th, he says he wants you to shut off the Mallaskan Navy from entering and Gavran ports. He said High Leader Menla Keev of Keymoa dispatched a fleet up north, and wants your fleet covering the south. Meanwhile, he wants your submarines combing the seas immediately." The courier said in a whispered voice. "Alright. I'll send the order for a fleet of 9 ships, and the three submarines I have will leave port tommorrow. Make sure the Honorable Leader knows." He said.

"We're 140 kilometers from the rendevous point." Said Captain Samuel Mason of the MSR Strout. The ship was cutting through the sea towards the meetup point for which the Joint Fleet was to hook up. The 4 ships of Rukanda were accompanied by 4 Grenfield ships, and 6 Ammarvan ships. "Dispatch a Lynx, we need to comb the waters for subs before we lead them to the grand fleet." He said, looking out the observation deck of the cruiser, combing the horizon with his binoculars.

"Dispatch, Lynx crew #443, report to the breifing room. Dispatch, Lynx crew #443, report to breifing room." The intercom blurted out seconds later. In a breif 20 minutes, the Lynx helicopter was starting it's engines out on the helicopter pad.

Royal Ammarvan Navy

High Admiral Welt sat at the desk in his quarters, intently reading a letter from King Trinne IV himself, leader of Ammarva.

Dear High Admiral Andrew Welt,

The entire nation of Ammarva stand behind your efforts, along with the efforts of our dear allies. Our peoples depend upon your success on the front. To succeed in this operation, will most likely mean the victory of this war turning to our favour. To rule the seas is to rule our enemy.

Best regards,
King Trinne IV

A knock came upon the door to his quarters. Admiral Welt answered it to a find a Petty Officer. "Captain Hyne request you to the bridge, he needs you to see something." Said the Petty Officer who had knocked upon his door. Admiral Welt rushed to the bridge of the RAS Province to see what the captain had disturbed him for. He entered the bridge to see it bustling with activity. "Admiral, sir, we have ourselves a situation." Said Captain Hyne of the Province.

"Go on." Said the Admiral, in a calm tone of voice.

"The District just sent us a message ten minutes ago that they spotted a bomber-sized aircraft heading towards the fleet. We just sighted it on radar two minutes ago, about 200 miles out." Said Captain Hyne, right before alarms went off throughout the ship to alert the crew of danger.

"See if you can communicate, they get within 150 miles we'll request Gavrona to dispatch fighter aircraft." Said Admiral Welt.

"We're closing to the meetup point, 220 miles." Said the navigator of the RSG Crown to Admiral Logan, while alarms blared in the ship thanks to the aircraft on Radar. "Have any ships been able to get on their frequency?" Admiral Logan asked to the Head Signalman of the ship. "Not to my knowledge, sir. I can tell the Corps guys below to go about the Airline channels." Said the Head Signalman.

"How fast is the contact moving?" Asked Captain Kennald of the Crown. "About 280 Knots sir. Likely to be either a Commercial aircraft or military bomber." Said the sailor manning the Radar.

"Alright, we're contacting the Gavronian Air Force." Said Admiral Logan, as he gestured to the head signalsman to make a message to the Gavronian Air Force and the Joint Fleet.

"This is the RSG Crown of the Commonwealth Joint Fleet. We request the immediate scrambling of fighter aircraft to coordinates [CLASSIFIED] in less than 20 minutes. Repeat. This is the RSG Crown of the Commonwealth Joint Fleet. We request the immediate scrambling of fighter aircraft to coordinates [CLASSIFIED] in less than 20 minutes. We have a possibly hostile aircraft closing 190 miles from the Joint-Fleet.

Gavronian Air Force

"Scramble 4. I repeat, scramble 4." Said Base Commander Tyler Kemm over the intercom. "Commonwealth Joint-Fleet, we are scrambling 4 fighters to your designated location to intercept the possible threat. ETA 20 minutes." The BC messaged to the Joint-Fleet.

Captain James Townes
6th Fighter Augment
Kemstra Airforce Base

Capt. Townes and his aircraft REO Lt. Jerry Kilse jogged to their F-4E Phantom on the tarmac at Kemstra AFB after breifing. The ground crew had just finished up fueling and arming his Phantom, along with the 3 others being scrambled with his. They climbed into the Phantom and closed the canopy. The engines started raoring once the ignition was hit. "Begin checklist" Said Capt. Townes. After a few short test, his aircraft and the others were a Go. "Clear to taxi." Came the message from the ATC. Ground crews directed the four Phantoms to the runway.

Captain Townes' aircraft and his wingmans Phantom were first on the runway. "All systems go, clear for takeoff?" Lt. Kilse asked over the radio. "You're clear." Replied the ATC. "Alright, begin takeoff." Said Lt. Kilse.

The burners on the Phantoms roared to life in unison for the Phantoms, and were quickly in the air. A quick once-around the base and they were joined by the other two Phantoms. "Maintain 600 Mph." Said Capt. Townes when the aircraft got into formation.

A short while later, the aircraft were over the vast sea. "Target should be visible to the naked eye in 3 minutes." Said Lt. Kilse. Sooner tha expected, the shape of what looked to be a large fixed-wing aircraft could be seen. In a short time, the aircraft could identify what the contact was: A Boeing 757 cargo aircraft in East Gavran liverly.

"The contact is a confirmed hostile aircraft. Permission to fire?" Asked Capt. Townes over the radio. "Copy, you're clear to fire." Came the reply from base. Immediatly all aircraft in the group armed their Aim-9 Sidewinder missiles and targetted the 757. Captain Townes' wingman's Phantom fired first, followed by Captain Townes' Phantom. The Sidewinders struck the cargo aircraft with great ease, leaving the 757 to a flaming pile of wreckage destined for the ocean. "Target down, over." Said Capt. Townes' wingman.

East Gavran Government

High Dictorate Lestrav Myres sat at his desk smoking a cigar when a courier entered. "High Dictorate, the first East Gavran casualties have been tallied sir. We lost a Boeing 757 cargo aircraft over the ocean to 4 Gavronian F-4E Phantoms. The crew of 6 were all killed in the attack." The courier said, bracing for the Dictator's wrath, while he placed a document of the incident on the leader's desk.

On the evening of November 10th, 2012, a Boeing 757 cargo aircraft of the East Gavran National Navy was shot down over international waters in the Gavran Sea by 4 Gavronian F-4E Phantoms. The crew of 6 was all killed in the attack.

List of those killed:

~Lieutenant Colonel Himman Halder - Aircraft pilot
~Captain Kistran Huttler - Aircraft Co-Pilot
~Lieutenant Yeo Naz - Aircraft Loadmaster
~Sergeant Jaik Mastev - Communications operator
~Sergeant Kai Morov - Flight Engineer
~Airman Westra Mon - Loadman

The submarine ENS Deft slipped through the ocean, heading west in attempts to locate enemy ships. The ship was alone, and had left port just one day ago. Captain Hestan Treyer paced about the command area. The Attack-Sub was alone under the vast ocean, on the hunt.

"Captain, word just came in that we are to sink any ship flying the flag of Gavrona and Repulaea, along with our established enemies." Said the radio operator of the ship.

"That can be done." Said Captain Treyer. "Sonar, got any prey?" He asked to the man operating the sonar.

"Yes, sir. Something just came up. It's about the size of a cargo ship, and going through a trade route. It is about 30 miles away from our location, sir." Said the operator.

"Alright, we've got prey. Full speed, get the crew alert." Captain Treyer ordered.

To: The Governance of Mallaska/Commonwealth States of Camra
From:The Repulaean Executive Ministry
Subject: Coalition/Summit

As per the recently passed Resolution 33.2125, the Compact Organization of Sovereign Predum Nations (COSPN) has authorized the deployment of its first ever united military coalition in response to the recent Keymoan attack on our sovereignty and your freedom. We have gathered an initial contribution of about 140,000 ground troops, 75,000 of which are Repulaean, and about six naval combat contingents. While my military board informs me that the naval situation is overwhelmingly in our favor, the prospect of securing a successful ground campaign will be far more difficult. That is why I suggest we form a military summit between your coalition and mine to lay out the strategic and tactical specifics of our enterprise and to also lay out our ultimate goal for this conflict. COSPN coalition forces are en route as you read this dispatch and it will not be long before they arrive in Mallaska. We pray to God that this endeavor may be a successful one. We eagerly await your reply.

On behalf of Mallaska, we thank you for your contribution to the campaign. We do agree a military summit should be formed to efficiently accomplish our campaign with minimal loss and outline our goals. The ships which you have loaned us will gladly take the troops you send to where you need them upon arrival to Mallaska. Victory in our favour will depend upon our abilities to swiftly conduct operations in Gavra.

Mallaskan Coast
Repulaean Task Force Jude

The friendly Mallaskan morning welcomed thousands of men from Task Force Jude ashore as Repulaean personnel were warmly greeted by fellow soldiers of the Mallaskan Federal Army and by grateful passers by. As the first contingent of the COSPN war effort to arrive in the theater, Task Force Jude, comprised of Strike Group 210, was to be the spearhead of the COSPN amphibious effort. The 5th, 6th, and 8th Fleets were laid out along the coast in defensive patterns. In particular, they anticipated any possible submersible attacks, ringing each group of vessels with specially equipped destroyers of the Sea Pack division, nicknamed "Sub Seekers." The Task Force was comprised of 76 vessels in all; 2 fleet carriers, 4 escort carriers, 9 cruisers, 10 destroyers, 12 frigates, 4 amphibious assault ships, 2 amphibious command ships, 2 nuclear submarines, 4 fast attack submarines, and 27 auxiliary ships of various types.

By mid morning Repulaean personnel had moved to establish their operating bases within Mallaska, while elements of the 6th Fleet established an air-medical station on West Gavra, called Camp Heart. Fortunately, High Command was able to secure their governments' gracious permission to do so. There were to be two COSPN bases in Mallaska. The first, Airbase Callista, was located just outside the Mallaskan capital. It was to be the COSPN high command's headquarters for the duration of the conflict The second was a coastal airbase named Camp Casdin, named for the Repulaean President Adam Cadin who's vision it was to establish COSPN. As per the orders of Supreme Commander of COSPN forces Lieutenant General Zachary Marcer, all these bases would be operable and ready for action within 24 hours. On the ground were about 75,000 men of the Royal IX Corps, stationed primarily at their point of rapid deployment (PRD) Camp Casdin. Until the coalition set out, they would remain in Mallaska to train and to savor their last few moments of friendly life before being thrown into an all too unfriendly world.

C.R.S. Raesin (RVSS-242)
Gavran Held Waters

Gliding sleepily 500 feet beneath the waves, C.R.S. Raesin quietly lurked for enemy vessels upon which she would prey. The Raesin was a sleek Haeden class fast attack submarine. Made for the prowl, she was nimble and silent, wielding the highest grade rapid torpedoes and armed to the teeth with ship deterrent TN-7 cruise missiles. Though without nuclear power, she performed well in tighter waters. Relatively shallow sections of the sea did not present a large problem to the Raesin and her crew of 75 able men. The seas dividing the Gavran Islands were a God-given hunting ground. Never before had the Haeden class been used in such perfect waters. It was as if the islands were molded and weaved specifically to provide Raesin with a killing field of ample opportunity.

Raesin's captain, Commander George Ferin, ordered a rapid but steady climb to attack depth, known to Repulaean submariners as the "Eye of the Shark." Still maintaining radio silence and retaining a solid stealth pattern, the submarine keenly scanned the waves in search of Gavran tankers, supply vessels, or warships.

"We're in the Eye, sir." reported a young, sturdy officer in the CIC. "No life so far."

"Keep a weather eye." said Cmdr. Ferin coolly. Some snickers arose from the many stations around the command center. Ferin had recently adopted this saying as his catch phrase. Subsequently, it was the subject of many jokes among the crew. "Status?" He barked, abruptly putting a stoppage to the chuckling.

"Holding at 20 knots. I suggest not going over that, sir, lest we make ourselves more noticeable."

"Agreed." said Cmdr. Ferin, twiddling a pen ferociously. "Hold present speed and course. Retain combat alert Alpha status. Keep searching for a bug to squash. I swear It'll be us, boys." A large but contained cheer went up from the men, adding a sly smirk to the captain's bony face.

The sudden dispatch of all the submarines to their respective zones of operation caused an upsurge in excitement among the crews, especially the captains. Each and every one wanted to be the one to draw first blood in this conflict for Repulaea. There was no doubt in any of their minds that theirs would be the ship to do so. Still, they all knew, there could only be one true victor.

Mallaskan Federal Navy

"The joint-fleet should becme vsible to the naked eye in about twenty minutes." Said Admiral Rhodes, groggy after staying up so long keeping the Mallaskan task force running. "You think the Easterns have Subs looking at us?" Rhodes asked his first-mate, currently the commissioned captain of the ship Captain Perrault Thorton, a medium-sized twig of a man, wearing a Mallaskan dress uniform drenched in sweat.

"If they do, Admiral, we haven't seen them on sonar. I'd say we're safe though, I don't expect their torpedoes to make it a meter out the tube." He said, scanning the horizon. "Oi, Admiral, we've got ships, looks like about 14, I think we found the Joint-Fleet." He exclaimed.

Admiral Rhodes immediatly stood from his seat and looked through his binoculars at the ships. It was confirmed to be the Commonwealth Joint Fleet. "Make contact, and get into a formation to allow them in with us." He ordered, immediatly the men in the bridge slaved away at the radios aboard the FNV Kimberly.

The fleets joined up in the time of an hour, immediatly continuing the trek to West Gavra.

"I'd say we're about 80 kilometers from West Gavran national waters." Said Captain Thorton.

"Good, I've been wanting some sleep. Take over." Said Admiral Rhodes as he went to his quarters for a nap and meal while a group of two Mallaskan SH-2Gs zipped over the destroyer.

East Gavran Government

Dictorate Myres paced back and forth in his office, thinking hardly about recent news of COSPN sending troops to support the filthy Mallaskans. "We're in a tight spot. Castrava just seceded and decided to fly Mallaska's flag, we're outnumbered by a crapload of military forces, and we're resorting to throwing artillery pieces on the sides of cargo ships! Meanwhile, Mallaska has so many allies that their capital is a clown car of military forces!" He yelled. "We can't launch any damn offensive operations, and we're stuck with make-do forces just to defend us! What the hell has Keymoa gotten us into!?" He ranted.

"Sir, I may suggest, a universal draft. Any able-bodied man above the age of 15 and below age 45 be forced into the military." His advisor said.

"That's the only sane idea we have. I'll approve it, we'll just need more AKMs." Lestrav Myres said, whisking away his council.

East Gavran National Navy

The ENS Menastrive, East Gavra's only aircraft carrier, was underway in the Gavran Sea towards West Gavra. Their job, with their fleet of 18 was to blockade the West, North, and South Gavran nations to prevent aid. High Admiral Minns Yestravi watched naval Mig-29 and Ka-27s dance on and of the flight deck of the Menastrive. The 52 year old aircraft carrier was nearly stretched to it's limits with it's recent upgrades, and the ships with the fleet were no better, several being cargo ships with Howitzers thrown on the sides.

"Alright, Government wants us to blockade the enemy Gavran states so that nothing can aid the enemy. Keymoa is taking the Northern route with another 18 ships, and our other ships are guarding our territorial waters." Admiral Yestravi recited to the crew. "If we have any ounce of luck, we can hopefully pull off a decisive victory and keep the enemy off our land. We could do better if we could get some money for once." He said.

C.R.S. Raesin (RVSS-242)
Gavran Sea

"We have some action forward, coming up at a steady 25 knots." snapped a CIC officer suddenly. "They're about 13.5 degrees west of the starboard reticle. How copy?"

"Roger," responded another. "I read multiple surface vehicles inbound, trajectory 18.922."

"Of what nature is this target?" asked Commander Ferin. "Enemy?"

"It look's like it,sir. There are 18 surface ships headed on a direct western course. They appear to be displaying East Gavran registrations. It looks like a carrier strike group, sir."

"Shit," breathed Ferin. "This is bigger than I thought. We're in the thicket of it now. Prep all tubes and deploy in covert combat pattern Zulu 11 ASAP. And keep a weather eye."

"Aye! Heading corrected to 4.3280, adjusted for high strain combat maneuvers. Eight tubes are at status green. I'm keeping that weather eye, sir."

The submarine's internal alarms blared as she stealthily listed from port to stern and back again, weaving her way into the East Gavran formation. Ferin's target was the aircraft carrier, identified by the intel logs as ENS Menastrive, the only carrier of which the East Gavran navy was in possession. To knock this behemoth out of the water would be a prize greater than any the battle-hungry Ferin could have hoped for. It was a tricky operation, however.

The C.R.S. Raesin would have to position itself within the flotilla of Gavran ships, basing itself about 200 meters off the carrier's port side, using a specially coordinated tactical approach vector sequence (TAVS). In full spread, eight Mk 18B torpedoes would be unleashed from the submarine. Even at the speed the Menstrive was traveling, there was little hope of escaping all of the heavy anti-surface projectiles as they jetted toward the monster. The Raesin was then to make a rapid, dangerous dive of about 2,000 feet in order to avoid contact with the rest of the task force. In one swift blow, the whole of the East Gavran fleet would be rendered useless. Without a carrier bolstering the strike group, it would be left completely at the mercy of the already overwhelming forces of Coalition air power.

With his submarine finally in position, Commander Ferin made a quick survey of the status of the operation. With the carrier's broad port side entering their sights, there was no other time to attack. It would either have to be at this critical juncture or never. Commander Ferin, fiery eyed and gleaming, growled a prideful order to fire. The crew braced for the imminent dive that they knew was to follow. Soon thereafter, the submarine unleashed her eight torpedoes, spreading them in a wide pattern across the approaching port side of the enemy ship. The Raesin then lurched to the Captain's orders to dive as it made for a rapid retreat into the safety of the ocean depths, still ignorant of the fate of their intended target.

Task Force Jude
Open ocean

With the rest of the COSPN coalition, task force Jude embarked on its first ever combat mission in the Gavran War. Its target was the East Gavran island of Mira, which was set to be the jump off point for the eventual main ground invasion. With the task force were 60,000 Repulaean ground troops of the Royal Army's 14th Infantry Division, the "Howling Knights," and the 3rd Infantry Division, the "Royal Thunderers." All in all, the Royal IX Corps was in direct command of the ground operations, subservient to the Repulaean and COSPN supreme commanders. At the heart of the well defended strike group was the Eternity class fleet carrier C.R.S. Valiant Royalty(CRV-129). Within her bowels were 90 combat and service aircraft all ready for combat with an additional 80 planes contributed from the fleet's two escort carriers. This brought the total Repulaean airstrike capability to a 170 aircraft level, rendering unto the Coalition instant air superiority. Additional support ships and cruisers carried the whole force through the waters to Mira Island. With the whole of the COSPN force tailing close behind, the Repulaeans assumed the lead position in the deadly pack of ships. Aircraft were sent ahead to conduct last-minute surveillance of the Mira beachhead upon which thousands of Coalition troops would soon be landing and dying.

Meanwhile, in other places within the Gavran Islands, smaller combined air and sea forces began to target vital ports, harbors, military facilities, and industrial sectors in an effort to cut off other Gavran islands from each other. By severing these islands and bombing them into submission, they would be rendered useless and would therefore not require any costly ground invasions.

The first Coalition advance, codenamed Operation: Blue Siege, was now underway. Only time would tell how successful it would be and how many lives would be lost on the journey to victory.

ANF-19 "Little Bat"
30,000 feet above Mira

Above the black night sky of Mira prowled the silentest of killers. The recently introduced Stringer E-I2A Nightfire stealth bomber was Repulaea's magnum opus of stealth combat technology. Advance TACNAV, TACCOM, and WARLITE technologies glistened in the shaded cockpit as Royal Airforce Captain Reese Kelsin, and his rear-seat tactical officer Lieutenant Steven Kiels, piloted the sleek airborne killer quietly through the sky. Below was their first target of the war. Coinciding with the Raesin's surface strike and Task Force Jude's embarkation, the two men would hurl two 2,000 pound precision guided PC-1-14 "Hellhound" bombs onto the island's main defenses across from the COSPN beachhead. Surely, they would be instantly demolished and without any warning.

Just hours ago, the two pilots ascended from Airbase Callista after their aircraft was quietly offload and assembled for combat use. Only two Repulaean stealth aircraft existed in the whole theater. Now they were above enemy land, about to deal one of the first major blows of the war for Repulaea.

With their target firmly fixed within their crosshairs, the pilots made their final calculations.

"Stats look Green, Reese." said Lt. Kiels. "How are we looking?"

"My pastures are green." stated Capt. Kelsin with a smile. "We're on a .302 vector, all readouts are nominal. Ready for the big bang, if you are. I'm itchin' for it, in fact."

"The let's cut the chatter." said Kiels excitedly as he prepared the ordinance for their final delivery. "We're over the target. Ordinance are hot, T-2 perimeters in check. Ready for delivery, Reese."

"Delivery at three, two, one, mark!"

The "Little Bat" released her precision load and climbed in an evasion pattern to a higher altitude. The two heavy bombs quickly descended onto their targets as a surge of vivacious spirit fused itself to the two pilots above. It really had begun.

Camran Joint Task Force Golf
Port Bellese, West Gavra

The joint Camran fleet was quickly loading fresh supplies onto the 28 ships from several nations. The fleet arrived the day before, and quickly wanted to leave port again to aid in the attack of Mira Island. The two divisions of Naval Marines were rather gung-ho at the thought of actual combat, where as before the conflict had mainly been seen from a cockpit. The Marines had cleaned their WA-76A1s to perfection and their WP-31 handguns put through the cleaning routine time and time again.

Task Force Grail
Open Sea

Another fleet of twelve more Mallaskan ships was underway from the Camran mainland, in the fleet was all six of the Crispen-Class Transport Dock Ships and the single battleship leased from Repulaea, the FNV Capital. There were three Type-57 Cruisers escorting the vessels, and two replenishment ships to top it off. The second fleet, designated "Task Force Grail" was to arrive at the port the next day to set off once again to the attack point. In all, Mallaska could provide four divisions of Federal Navy Marines to the attack effort. Mallaskan aircraft were based out of nine airbases, thanks to Mallaska's utter lack of an aircraft carrier until late Spring of 2013. These airbases were located in various allied locations, three in Mallaska's new territory nation of Castrava, two in South Gavra, three in West Gavra, and a single airbase in North Gavra.

Captain Reddick of the FNV Arch, a Type-57 class Cruiser in Task Force Grail ordered a status of the fleet.

"We're puttering in at around 16 knots, Cap'n." Came a voice somewhere in the bridge.

"Aight, hold that speed."

"Aye, Cap'n." Came the answer from the rather bored helmsman. He wouldn't be so bored in a few days.

ENS Menastrive
Gavran Sea

The alarm aboard the Menastrive suddenly went off directly after the launch of a Mig-29. Sailors scrambled to their battle stations, and the aircraft already in the air for patrol rounds circled close to the fleet.

"What the hell is going on!?" Admiral Yestravi demanded after the alarms went off.

"Torpedoes, port side!" A crewman yelled. Admiral Yestravi looked out of the Port side of the bridge and sure enough could faintly spot eight torpedoes speeding towards the carrier. The Menastrive attempted an evasive tactic, but it barely turned a dgree when the ship lurched and a loud explosion could be heard. A Ka-27 attempting to take off right when the torpedo hit tipped sideways at a dangerous angle, smashing into the flight deck of the carrier before the small helicopter could recover. Shortly after, four more explosions could be heard, making the ship lurching dangerously and immobile.

Most of the torpedoes struck the carrier dead center, making it collapse inward at a slow pace. One torpedo struck the engine area of the ship, rendering it immobile and doomed to Davy Jones' Locker. Meanwhile, the flight deck was awash with flames and the crew fought hard to extinguish the fire brought upon by the crashed Ka-27. A front section of the deck was still safe, and a helicopter could still provide an evactuation.

"Abandon the ship, and get the remaining workable helicopters off the deck if you can!" Admiral Yestravi barked, while two armed sailors entered the bridge for the ship's high officers. A Ka-27 was already being towed to the safe part of the flight deck. Time was of the biggest priority, as the raging conflagration would soon engulf the rest of the ship. The Admiral was handed a loaded pistol by one sailor, should he need it.

Admiral Yestravi had stepped onto the flight deck, and could see another ship in the fleet, the ENS Cammoz, a converted cargo ship, was also engulfed in flames and fast descending into the ocean. It seemed that one torpedo had missed and hit it, too. By now, the Ka-27 which was to take the Admiral off the crippled carrier was starting it's engines, while Ka-27's from other ships in the fleet surrounded the carrier, waiting to pick up more crew members. Yestravi climbed aboard along with his high officers and the two armed sailors. Now the carrier was lurching enough that soon it would be unsafe to take off from the deck.

The Admiral took out a small notepad and his pen and began writing a note to the Dictorate on the loss of the ships before the Ka-27 began to lift off the deck. From the air Minns could see the true damage to the ship, and it's fate was grim. The flames had advanced near the safe part of the deck while Ka-27's scrambled one at a time onto the deck to rescue a handfull of sailors before the safest part of the deck was far too steep to safely land. Several lifeboats were in the water, but many were sinking thanks to structural damage from the explosions. Admiral Yestravi was amazed that the carrier survived that long once he saw where the torpedoes had struck. Large gashes in the ship had been dealt, and in the fleet.

Dear High Dictator,

I am deeply sorry, but we have lost the pride of our fleet, and many lives along with it. The ENS Cammoz has also fell victim to the attacks of the cowardly enemy, and I swear that I will avenge those lost to regain the honor of our great navy.

From,
High Admiral Minns Yestravi

The 4th Fleet was moving thru the waters of the sector peacefully. They were being sent to pick up some cargo from a supplier not far away, which was they they where there. The fleet was 10 destroyers, 5 battleships, 12 transport tankers, 4 refuelers and 3 frigates. The ships were mainly made of steel or a classified alloy just as strong but much lighter and cheaper. This choice of heavier metals was due to how much more punishment older ships could hold, which meant a lot to sailors. All in all the ships were significantly bigger and not as sleek as others, but made up for it with experienced crews and fast engines. To see out miles and miles a orbital had to keep watch on them at all times, which was huge expense considering it could be watching anywhere else that moment.

The Battleship had the best sensors of all, but that wasn't saying much considering how short the others were. Guns took their sweet time to turn and so did the ships, but the hulls brought that extra time needed to the table. Soon after entering the waters they got a report that one of their sellers ships had been hit by accident, there was fighting in this sector and it was getting out of hand. If it kept up that would mean their seller would lose people and money, while the NTA's peacekeeping efforts would be hampered. So the ships headed for a drop point where they would be able to dock and refuel their ships. It was a small island in the area and it would give them the day or so needed to figure things out.

Mira Island
Gavran Sea

"What a day." sighed Rear Admiral Tanson.

"Well ain't it a nice one, though?" responded a staff officer.

"I suppose. We got their carrier after all."

"So much for their air cover." exclaimed another officer. "You think we'll have that beachhead by the end of the day, sir?"

"Only time will tell." He breathed. "Only time will tell."

The COSPN task force had made its advent off the coast of the East Gavran Island of Mira. Within the metal gullets of the many amphibious warships waited the 25,000 men of the 14th and 3rd infantry divisions who were to be put ashore by d-day's end. Another 35,000 would follow in the coming days. Smoke billowed from distant spots on the island, marking the deadly airstrikes of the past few days. Now, C.R.S. Valiant Royalty and her escort carriers dispatched their squadrons, carrying out ceaseless sorties on enemy held positions. Already the landing grounds were ablaze, making for a small beachside hell upon which the nervous eyes of thousands of Repulaean boys looked in terror. Into that very hell they would soon have to charge.

It was a clear morning, unusually bright for its earliness. H-hour was to commence at exactly 5:50 AM. Low and high level combat passes were made throughout the day, setting afire numerous Gavran radar, anti-air, artillery, barracks, or munitions instillations. The targets were plentiful, but so were the risks. Scattered across the island were towns and villages, about which pilots were warned. Some pilots ,more frightened about the prospect of murdering innocent people than about the prospect of being shot down, poured over their data charts, maps, and satellite images ad nauseum. After thirty minutes of arial assault, their fears seemed to be unfounded. Though some minor damage was inflicted upon suburban civilian zones, the majority of Repulaea's guided ordinance were concentrated on the designated military targets. They instead had to focus on their own safety for two aircraft had already been lost to missile fire from the ground. To add to the cacophony of the airstrike circus above, cruisers, destroyers, and other support vessels unleashed a deadly array of cruise missiles and thundered away at coastal defenses with their Mk 101 five inch turrets. The task force, meanwhile, kept up its vigil over the skies in case the enemy were to attempt any sort of incursion into Coalition airspace.

The largest and most active fighter contingent in the air that day were the twenty-two Raeboult FAR/N-118D Turmoils of squadron CVNF-418, the "Gaggle Birds." Recently transferred to deployment duty in early October from Naval Air Station Anstrona, the Gaggle Birds were an arial band of brothers and an effective lot of skilled airmen. Between them, the 44 pilots had thousands of hours in the air and on carriers. This day was their lives' goal. Since the initial airstrikes commenced, CVNF-418 had conducted a total of five sorties together, a record unmatched by any other "competitors" that morning. In total, more ordinance were delivered within the first hour of the Mira landings than in the entire three weeks of the Kazakhstan-Krai Conflict a year earlier. The damage to the enemy's defenses must have been staggering.

At the strike of the clock, the 5:40 AM notice went out, spreading like an untamable bushfire throughout the task force. Thousands of young Repulaeans of the Royal Army now took their positions in recently adapted amphibious models of the heavily armed RT-267 Penance armored fighting vehicle. With eight minutes to spare, the men departed their amphibious assault ships, amphibious command ships, and transport docks, jetting across the slim stretch of smokey sea to the shores of Mira. There were five designated beachheads for Repulaea alone. They were codenamed India Red, Blue, Green, Black, and White. With the deathly sound of the attack, the men inside the fighting vehicles and amphibious tracks did not know if they were under withering fire from the shore or if they were simply getting knocked around by the ferocity of their own bombardment. Just two minutes before the men were supposed to land, the bombardment targets were moved up from the beach, leaving the cratered sand clear for the ground pounders.

At exactly 5:50 AM, Repulaean troops touched the shore, commencing the largest single combined military operation in Repulaean history since the Seran Regime War of 1972. Each beachhead accommodated an initial troupe of 5,000 men. More were to follow them in the hours and days to come. With the men now ashore, their first priority was to establish a beachhead in the hellish, smokey moonscape. They had very little idea how easy or difficult this would be.

"But such is war." said Rear Admiral Tanson to his exasperated officers. "The boys know that. And they'll fight like lions either way."

Mira Island
Gavran Sea

"We're late to the party..." Said Admiral Rhodes said as the Camran Task Force prepared to land Mallaskan Marines onto Mira Island on a location just east of the Repulaean landing group.

The Mallaskan 1st Marine Division was the unit which was to land on the East Beach, callsigned "Sapphire". Task Force Grail, which was to provide replenishment to the 1st Marine Division landing on Mira were to arrive at the dawn of the next day. The 1st Division Marines with the Joint-Fleet prepared to land upon the beach, loading into AAV-7s and LCUs. A total of 20,000 Marines preapred to assaultthe beach from AAV-7s, LCUs, and various helicopters. Sapphire Beach was a somewhat bipolar beach, and behind the dunes were several hills overlooking the beach, surely to be the place which the East Gavrans would place defences.

At the time of 5:55 AM, 24 Mallaskan F-111 Aardvarks flew over the fleet in a spread formation. Their job was to eliminate any major threats at the Commonwealth Beach, mainly by dumping every bit of ordinace there could've been in their airbases, which they had left an hour before. In unison, the F-111s began dropping their payloads of Mk84 bombs directly behind the dunes onto the overlooking hills and beyond. Closely following the F-111s were a group of twelve F/A-18C Hornets, waiting to swoop in on anything attempting to harm their fellow servicemen.

At 6:00 AM, the landing party of 20,000 began it's assault on the beach, aircraft still buzzing overhead. Guns from the ships were thundering away at the coastal defences, even while the troops neared the beach. The shelling was ordered to stop at 6:05 AM, and the Marines made it to the beach, to immediately come under fire from unknown positions. The Ch-46 Sea Knights taking some marine to shore came under heavy small arms fire. The Marines aboard the helicopters were bound to the town of Casmirez in hopes to capture a foothold in the island so that Mallaskan Marines could have an immediate area to resupply and rest.

The first wave of 5,000 Federal Marines was trying to overcome the dunes without being cut down by gunfire of unkown origin. Casualties were unknown, and the second wave of another 5,000 Marines was soon to hit the beach. The AAV-7s had a hard time overcoming the dunes without being taken out by landmines, and were stuck on the beach covering the Marines.

The radios chattered with babble from marines on the beach, requesting air support, MEDEVAC, and God knows what. Admiral Rhodes looked at the beach in dismay.

"We didn't hit hard enough." Said Admiral Rhodes in discontent in the bridge of the FNV Kimberly.

By 6:25 AM the 3rd and 4th waves, both with 2,500 men each, had landed on the chaotic beach. With them they brought heavier vehicles and more supplies, allowing the Marines to get past the dunes.

Admiral Winston looked over the reports he was getting from back home. The bulky device he was using was moved around on a wheeled cart and was mostly to capture signals, decrypt the information in them and encrypt the information he sent back. The keys were very light and numerous, but the center was an ordinary keyboard. From what he was reading, it seemed the war was between two groups of nations in a single region mostly. Ordinance was being dropped at rates that seemed to make command think that their tactics were being copied. The side they were to lend assistance to where doing most of the bombing and seemed to take no interest in capturing the enemies land. Open ground and fortifications were bombed or shelled constantly, but luckily the civilians were mostly fine.

Winston nodded, if to many Innocent people had died then they would have to fight both sides and this would be labeled "a petty conflict". "Petty conflicts" were always over the stupidest things, things that meant nothing to anyone important and seemed to be filled with illogical hate. Winston hated no one, save a few despots he heard about here and there, but he was certain that the NTA would have them kidnapped or killed anyway. Conflicts had changed a great deal since he was a youth, now they tended to be away from where he grew up in Vadia before the revolution. It was hard to be offensive when you had mastered defense into an art form and had depended on it for longer then your nation had existed.

He shook his head, now was not the time to place doubt in one's brothers and sisters. He was just going to have to blockade something important and wait it out till one of the four Army Groups sent something. The 3rd "Glitenti" Group had some spare manpower at the moment and he was hoping he could get reinforcements from them. Personally he never really got along with people like that, the so called "naturally smart". He had no patience for their gizmos and tech speak as he was in his early fifties. It wasn't like he was going to have to talk to them, they were in a separate chain of command and would get their orders from some other more tolerant old man. This was why he joined the navy all those years ago, to avoid having to deal with too many new things. He had his second in command order all ships to load their guns and keep watch at 1/2 capacity till he said otherwise.

The thing was wheeled off by some men to where it was kept and Winston walked back further below deck to sleep. His second in command had it from here and Winston needed his 6 hours every 24 hour cycle.

Off the East Gavran Island of Mira, the 3rd Combat Fleet kept up its bombardment, trying as best it could to match the Repulaean rate of fire. One of Euneia's two fleet carriers, the EFS Magistrate, was with the task force, dispatching squadron after squadron, to soften up the forward landing zones. When the time came, 10,000 Euneian Federal Marines hit the two Euneian beachheads titled "Hammerhead" and "Mako". The 10,000 men were evenly divided between the beaches which led to a single access route inland. In between the Repulaean and Mallaskan landing zones, the Euneian beachheads were of vital importance if the invasion was to be held together in one piece. Up above, Euneian FAR-118 Turmoils and the proudly Euneian-made FLY-46 Avengers carried out countless sorties over Mira, the deck crews aboard the Magistrate exerting more energy than they ever had before to keep the operation running smoothly.

At just ten minutes to 6 AM, the 1st and 2nd Federal marine divisions hit the beaches of Hammerhead and Mako. They were followed closely by Army engineers of the 56th auxiliary detachment as well as army helicopter units. While facing less resistance than their Reulaean and Mallaskan counterparts at their flanks, the Euneians were hampered in another unforeseen way. The heavy bombing of Repulaean heavy bombers from the mainland just the night before created massive sand and rock barriers through which none of the marines' beleaguered personnel vehicles could pass. Exposed to shell and mortar fire from inland, the remaining 24 APCs and amphibious tanks already on the beach were scattered and helpless. Already three had been destroyed and two damaged, claiming the lives of some 18 marines. As the casualties slowly mounted, the marines pressed forward through the fray, using explosives and danger-close airstrikes to demolish the debris left over from the previous night's onslaught. It was tedious work, especially when under fire, but the Euneianas persevered, unrelenting in their resolve to get off the beach and secure the inland road.

Postby Serany » Sat Nov 24, 2012 6:24 pm

For the first time since the awful Regime War, Seran troops waged a military conflict. Never before had Serany believed itself so indebted to Repulaea for their sacrifices on its behalf during the war. To return the favor was just and honorable. The oppression of the Gavran regimes must also be stopped lest the people of the Islands suffer the same fate that Serany suffered for decades under General Therall.

The Seran 1st Fleet continued to pound the beachheads of Tansior 1 and Tansior 2, named for the 14th century Seran martyr Karl Mell Tansior. A total of 5,000 men would land on each, hoping to secure the small access routes by day's end. Aircraft from other coalition fleets circled over head, saturating the beaches and surrounding defenses with ordinance. The young uniformed Serans in the landing crafts and amphibious tracks watched in awe as the terrifying spectacle unfolded before their very eyes. In conjunction with the other COSPN invaders, elements of the 17th and 20th expeditionary divisions landed at the two assault sectors. Just north of the Repulaean landing zone, the sectors greeted the Seran troops with light resistance at first. Due to this, they were able to hook around their right flank and provide their Repulaean allies with long-ranged mortar fire support.

Resistance stiffened as the attack wore on, however. Nearly a dozen men had been killed with the unexpected surge of enemy fire. Amphibious armor was called upon to clean up the enemy resistance. Land mines got the better of two of the tanks and their eight crewmen but the attack persisted with vigorous vitality. By mid morning, the Serans had secured one beachhead, Tansior 2. The second, however, was proving to be a harmful thorn in the Seran troops' sides as casualties streamed from that beach to the transport docks awaiting offshore. The situation was progressive, but still very sticky and not the least bit bloody.

Mira Island
Bunker Markoh

Generals Jamaz Kestrev and Mallan Gol sat in the command bunker, studying a map of the island. Their advisors had informed them of the situation. Above the bunker countless alarms blared and artillery wailed. They had already ordered the use of Guerilla tactics. He still had a garrison of 40,000 East Gavran troops and another 250 armoured vehicles on the island.

Mira Island
Front Line

The remaining beach defenders of East Gavra had retreated into the forest, forced out by the attackers. The soldiers had to perform Guerilla tactics, heavily trapping the inland roads and trails. The remaining East Gavran vehicles near the beach set up along the roads in order to pick off unsuspecting enemies. A battalion of T-72 tanks used by East Gavra had managed to get to the front lines already. The guerilla tactics had shown effectiveness, knocking out several enemy vehicles and soldiers. Meanwhile, groups of soldiers made their way to the combat zone, across the vast fields central to the island.
