OOC: The electricity went off in the street just as I was about to post the 2nd part of the preview. My spirits crushed, now I'll just post the league.

Phoenigetuzstha Divizia Nationala

With hot favourites AC Regia Artadates at 3-1 for the league victory, everything points towards a victory in the capital. With strong attacking play coming in the form of two Fusha Me-Barian youngsters, Helaunt and Gherzheki Jada they look like a team that can, and will score, as well as having a strong defence to protect them. Olimpia Tyreebi will be challenging however, as they look to participate in the Champions Cup once again, their youthful, fresh team made up of some of the countries greatest youth prospects, including international players Pharnajom Sakauron and Aharon Abbas. Dinamo Tigtaxidice will want to build on their positive start last season with another top 4 finish, they too hoping for an international spot.

As we know, the layout of the league has drastically changed, with a smaller league, and no relegation (for 3 more seasons after this one). This was enacted so that the established clubs could get a firmer footing on the footballing ladder, and hopefully boost their ability before earning the right to fight for their position in the league. Phoenigetuxtha recently moved up as high as 50th on the international UICA rankings with a coefficient of exactly 11.000. Hoping to improve on that this season will be any competitor representing Phoenigetuzstha, and we wish them the best of luck, Khub Bakht!

Shadowbourne Forms First Domestic Soccer League

Postby Shadowbourne » Wed Oct 31, 2012 12:54 pm

For the first time, Shadowbourne will have its own domestic soccer league.

The league was announced yesterday night at an impromptu press conference called by rap mogul and soccer fan Jamal Harrington, better known by his stage name Hopscotch Twista. Rumors about the league had been leaked several weeks ago, but had not been confirmed. The league will consist of 20 teams split into two divisions. They are expected to play a 30-40 game schedule and carry 20 players each (18 active, 2 reserves). Harrington, the richest man in Shadowbourne, is the sole financial backer of the league. Naming rights have been sold to investing giant Frescola (the league is expected to be dubbed the "Frescola Premier League"). The teams will be auctioned off tomorrow to the highest , with 90% of the intake going to help fund the league, and the other 10% being donated to breast cancer research (Harrington lost his mother to breast cancer when he was 14). Harrington has named himself Commissioner of the newly formed league. He is also expected to call the games on TV, alongside, ex-National Team star Zarko Strenadko. More information is expected to be revealed in the coming days.

UPDATE:

The lottery for the league's inaugural draft has been held. The draft order for round 1 will be as follows:

Northcliffe
Rockport
Bluechester
Palmburg
New Seamark
Woodshire
Daleshire
East Clydale
Pineridge
Allochester Beach
Orchardford
Calcott
Alloermill
Akhill
Manscrest
Ausberry
Palport
Pineridge
Fullark
Ridgebourne

All following rounds will be in alternating order. The draft will consist of 20 rounds. Star forward Andrew Wirahadi is expected to be the first overall pick.

Third-way through, Ferdullaele FC and Avenida Victoria seem to be the main candidates for the trophy. They've won all games except the one they played each other, which ended up as their only draw. They've been two extremes of the spectrum, Avenida Victoria extremely defensive and Ferdullaele extremely offensive. Tympú has been doing really well, specially thanks to new star striker from Mesoland, Beritata Nukaba. Feardallis' Wanderers (FW) has been doing quite badly, only managing to upset Tympú. Newly bought young slembanan Val Kylx has helped, but hasn't performed as much as he was expected to. However, the fans do quite like him, as he's been bringing most goals, despite his age. Fryi Frêndê and La Nueva Avenida have surprised everyone. Even though the media doesn't cover most matches by them, they've managed to sneak past Feardallis' Wanderers and get to be fourth and fifth respectively. The battle to avoid relegation promises to be exciting, as everyone from ninth to twentieth can easily be relegated. There are still tewnty-seven matchdays to go, so anything can happen.

Campionato Esportivano di Campeones:
The four teams going to this international competition will be:

Toti
Persepolis
Shaolin Boosters
Lusavik ZPH

The qualification for the tournament was announced as those who reached the semi-finals of the Capitol Cup. Those teams already qualified for international competitions were excluded from the domestic tournament.

A tense, one round group stage saw many Division A teams knocked off by aggressive B teams, and even a team from the lower leagues, Toti, which managed to snatch the only lower leagues qualifying spot.

Image

In the final 8, Toti managed to eliminate the RNC side in a climatic 7-6 penalty shootout. They also made history in being the first team not from the Division A or Division B to qualify for an international tournament. Meanwhile, Persepolis, a former Div. B team which was promoted and will join the Division A next year, showed their guns and delivered Fribourg a sound whopping. On the other side, the Shaolins coasted to the semifinals against middling team Neuchatel, and Lusavik defeated Thun AC in a penalty shoot-out to qualify for the Campionato.

At this point, each of the four teams had qualified. However, the Cup still continued to determine the ultimate winner. Persepolis finally managed to defeat the persistent Toti, delivering them a 4-1 finishing blow, while the Shaolins utterly destroyed Lusavik in a 3-0 knockout.

The finals was essentially old vs. new, the experienced, high-ranking Shaolin team which had for many years dominated the Division A versus a newcomer which had only recently emerged into the spotlight. In this tournament, it would be the Shaolins who prevailed, though only by the skin of their teeth... after a 4-3 penalty shoot-out after 120 minutes of normal play.

Ferdullaele almost drew, or maybe even lost, to Libertarian Ferdullaele, a surprise to everyone. Drummer scored once, just as Pickton. Danielsen starts to be booed off the pitch because of lack of goals. Tympú defeated MDH by 1 goal, one goal by Nukaba seemingly was enough. FW defeated Sent 01 with two early Numbá headers. Avenida Victoria managed a 1-0 win against Geyinstanles United with a goal scored by Juárez when the first half was about to finish. This way, Avenida Victoria continues winning matches by 1-goal margins (with one 8-goal margin exception) to become the most challenging competitor for Ferdullaele this season. Still, Ferdullaele is the big candidate to take the trophy home for the 74th time, which would be abusive. Avenida Victoria is still thriving and is just on its second season at the best farf division there is, and it isn't doing badly, not at all.

Ferdullaele destroyed FOMT with seven goals. A comeplete thrashing. The scorers were Danielsen three times (not booed off), Fu once, Pickton once and Mêndêlöíndçêl twice with long-distance shots. Tympú did something similar with Libertarian Ferdullaele, the team Ferdullaele had needed to try so hard and even rely on luck slightly to defeat, with two goals by Nukaba, two by Numbá and one by Makevic. FW defeated Yi firmly with two goals by Kylx, after he hit the post seventy-two times. A new record. The two goals were scored on the seventh second and the fortieth second. Also a record (earliest second goal). Meanwhile, Flying Jellyfish gets a 3-0 loss as a forfeit after one of their fans severely injured the referee when Fryi Frêndê was winning 2-0 on the 70th minute. Avenida Victoria won "El Clasico" against La Nueva Avenida dramatically with a goal by Juárez from outside the box on the 90+2nd minute. Noone in Farfadillis knew how Avenida Victoria had managed to get as far as Ferdullaele had so far, it truly was a mystery as Ferdullaele was winning by 7-0 most matches and Avenida Victoria by just either 1-0 or 2-1.

And so the derby (Gre Casíco) finally arrived. Both Ferdullaele and Tympú had been waiting for this match. It didn't matter that Tympú was third behind surprise team Avenida Victoria, it still was "Gre Casíco". Tympú was just 3 points away from Ferdullaele, and it was their perfect chance to get the trophy, they just had to win and perform really well for the rest of the tournament. However, with a goal scored by Pickton last minute, probably olympic, but noone is really sure if it was an own goal by the goalkeeper or an olympic goal by Pickton, actually, Ferdullaele would win. Pickton wouldn't celebrate his awesome goal just because he had played for Tympú AC before and he didn't like scoring against them, regardless of how important the goal was. It almost officially was crossing out Tympú's name from the threat list. Ferdullaele only had to get Avenida Victoria out of the way, however, that was exactly the problem. Meanwhile, FW continued to let down their fans after a boring 1-1 tie with Toimputa, which left them in an awkward position to compete for a place in the globe cup, the goal was scored by Forre Kikenka, the hujukian young star that apparently doesn't age. Avenida Victoria would win with a goal scored by Herrero against Suburban Farfadillis. Herrero and Juárez were possible players to be called for the national team, according to the media. They were two overwhelming attackers playing for a defensive team that almost never conceded a goal, and it really worked, apparently.

This matchday was where Fryi Frêndê finally managed to get the spectators look at them. From being 3-0 down to equalizing the match at Ferdullaele's home was like something heroic. Ferdullaele had lost two points that could (and would) be vital to get the championship, with Avenida Victoria no longer breathing down their necks, but with them having to do so after this. The goalscorers for Ferdullaele were Fu, Danielsen and Wanderis. Tympú got back to winning after the disappointing match against Ferdullaele, in which they probably regretted seeling Pickton. Nukaba sored four, which wasn't that difficult for a good player in the farf league. Numbá also scored. FW got thrashed by Flying Jellyfish 4-1. Smith's goal simply wasn't enough and FW couldn't keep the tie they had got out of simple air. Juárez once again saved Avenida Victoria and left them in the top, for the first time in the league. The victorians travelles all the way to frion to thank Fryi Frêndê's players, they even had dinner together.

Ferdullaele seemed to have forgotten about their draw last matchday and swept Fragardallians away easily with a stunning 9-1. Danielsen scored four, just as Drummer. Fu also scored one. Tympú also won by a really large margin, bar not so large against Friguista Farfa. Nukaba scored three just as Numbá. There was a friendly conflict on who should go home with the ball. In the end, they cut the ball in half and each one went home with his half, which, by the way, had no air, for obvious reasons. FW defeated FOMT with a goal by Kylx after hitting the bar four times in the same minute. Only a minute and a half had gone by when he scored. It was the match's only goal. Avenida Victoria finally got to thrash a team after a lot of time. They defeated MDH by 3 goals, two headers from Juárez and one from Herrero.

Ferdullaele defeated Llefraga thanks to one goal from all its strikers. FW defeated Fryi Frêndê on the match that everyone was looking forward to watch. Fryi Frêndê, the team that had left Ferdullaele second, and FW, the richest team and the team that had performed the best in UICA competitions. In the end, Kikenka would score a free kick which hit the post and crossed the line by the tiniest of distances. This way, FW proved to have a strong case for globe cup spots and that they indeed were better than Fryi Frêndê, regardless of how much they had underperformed lately (which still meant they were playing much better than most teams). Tympú thrashed Green Ruland, last time's second division winners with two goals by Nukaba, two by Numbá and three by Rovic, who had a "hero" night. Juárez scored two free kicks for Avenida Victoria to keep his team top.

Ferdullaele thrashed Friguista Farfa 7-1 with three goals by Wanderis, three by Mêndêlöíndçêl and one by Pickton. FW also got a nice win thanks to a goal by Kylx and two by Smith. These two foreigners seem to be leading FW forward. However, that might be what made them underperform. They're good, regardless. However, the match everyone wanted to watch was Avenida Victoria-Tympú AC. Tympú could get to be just one point away from both Avenida Victoria and Ferdullaele if they won. In the end, Juárez gave Avenida Victoria a victory they didn't deserve. Nukaba and Numbá had been causing some headaches to the iron victorian defense. However, with just one chance, Juárez got to score a header which left Tympú's goalkeeper laying on the floor after a dive that just wasn't enough. This way, Avenida Victoria had to win on the next matchday to keep the top position before the transfers opened, which would make Avenida Victoria suffer as other teams could get players, but they also planned on getting one Swiss guy, too. It hadn't been revealed yet, but the fans were hoping for something good to keep the top position. All victorians were crossing their fingers on every match. Specially because they're farolerans, the most fanatics of football fans.

The last matchday before th transfers' window was one that noone wold've expected. Fu and Kylx scored in a match that had the fans crossing their fingers not to lose until the end. Probably one of the most epic matches. Kylx and Fu both scored last minute goals and both teams sucked defensively. Kylx hit the post twenty times while Danielsen scored a goal slightly in off-side. This way, ferdullaelans were starting to get far from the top position. Now, if Avenida Victoria won, they'd be four points away. However, a miracle happened: Fragardallians scored a last minute goal against AV and got to draw. Juárez once again scored, but it wasn't enough. Both Ferdullaele and Avenida Victoria (AV),the teams that had left out of hopes all others, had tied and it only meant one thing: Tympú was back on track to become the threat it should've been before. Truth is, Tympú ripped Sent 01's defense with two goals by Nukaba, two by Numbá, one by Rovic and two by Makevic.

And so halfway-through, AV has managed to end up first. Conceding just three goals. A complete record. One of them was scored by Ferdullaele, another by Friguista Farfa on the first matchday and another by Fragardallians on the first half's last matchday. Meanwhile, both Ferdullaele and Tympú have torn other teams apart, but that hasn't been enough as AV has been simply perfect. The difference between Tympú AC and AV and Ferdullaele is their form, at least currently. What will be of the other half? Will Ferdullaele once again claim the trophy? Will Tympú recover? Will AV do what was unexpected at the start, and is now a strong possibility? Time will tell. Avenida Victoria also bought a new Swiss player, Cris Bartoloměj as left winger. He's promised to score lots of goal on a press conference, so the fans have high hopes for him.

Ferdullaele won 6-3 against Green Ruland in a match that was pretty exciting until the end. Ferdullaele had been winning 6-0 the entire match until the 79th minute, when Green Ruland started scoring. Despite the three goals, it wasn't enough and Green Ruland lost just as expected. Danielsen, Drummer, Fu, Wanderis, Mêdêlöíndçêl and Pickton scored for Farfadillis. Smith saved FW's ass by scoring two goals, both penalties. Kylx was in the bench as he had been injured, luckily, it was nothing serious and he would be up for the match against Suburban Farfadillis, two matchdays later. Avenida Victoria defeated Friguista Farfa 1-0, thanks to Herrero. Juárez didn't take part because of personal issues. Tympú thrashed, yet another time, a small team. This, time, it was Yi and the score was 7-1. The news is that Nukaba didn't score. Numbá scored four, Makevic two and Rovic one.

Avenida Victoria defeated Green Ruland comfortably by 3-0, with Juárez back, who assisted Marino thrice. Everyone saw this matchday as just "the one preceding AV-Ferdullaele". Ferdullaele had the chance to get their top position back, while AV had the chance to leave Ferdullaele dizzy, almost KOed. Meanwhile, FW, without Kylx, won 4-0. Smith, Kikenka, Démbéllé and Janguje scored. Nukaba scored two goals to make Tympú AC win rather comfortably. Now everyone was expecting for the big match to come.

And so Danielsen became the hero by scoring against AV's iron defense four times. He was clapped off the pitch, with people chanting his name. Marino's free kick wasn't enough and Avenida Victoria left the top position to Ferdullaele, while having to silently wait for Ferdullaele to draw a match for them to recover the position they kind of could believe they had lost. Ferdullaele had been superior the entire match, and, when Marino equalized on the 12th minute, it had been really unfair. Ferdullaelans were all celebrating, they just needed to do well the matchdays to come and that would be all. FW defeated Suburban Farfadillis thanks to Kylx, who scored four early goals on the 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 4th minute of the match, for an epic comeback. Tympú defeated Flying Jellyfish with two goals by Nukaba and four by Numbá. The two top goalscorers were Nukaba and Numbá, both from Tympú.

KINITAR PREMIER DIVISION 3475
Season Preview

The 3474 season of Kinitar football was the most dramatic yet. Yes, we've only been going for two seasons, but that doesn't make my point any less valid. Mi'ato City snatched the title from their bitter rivals thanks to a 94th-minute goal, while the fight down at the bottom also went right down to the wire. And the good news is, there's more to come. We've got two fresh faces in the form of Metallist and Atletika Vanuku, who have never previously seen the light of the top division. We welcome back some old hands in Čilibeni Town, the champions of the B-League. And of course, seventeen survivors from last term return to do battle once more in some of the finest arenas in the land. Who have we got showcasing the talents of Kinitaria for you this time? Let's take a look.

Image

1. Maja
ImageImageImage
Last season: 10th
Manager: Satenik Selimi
Stadium: Stadion Viteanii Revolusii, Litora (62,250)
The last two seasons haven't gone the way they intended, to say the least. They had the strongest defence in the league last season (no other team conceded less than their 40) backed by national goalkeeper Costin Petran. The problem they had was a complete inability to score, racking up one of the lowest goals tallies in the entire league. Sadly, I can't see this changing. Lone striker Virgil Hernič is frequently left isolated, and opposing teams find it easy to mark him out of the game, which shuts off their entire supply of goals. There's no way they're going to get into any trouble, but they draw far too often, and they're not going to be competing with the big boys unless that changes.
Prediction: 9th

Image

Club Ajbental
ImageImageImage
Last season: 15th
Manager: Florent Radulič
Stadium: Stadion "Liberta", Ajbental (31,630)
Ajbental have spent the past two seasons hovering above the relegation zone. This provides them with a great opportunity to consolidate on their League status and start pushing their way up the table. This is not an opportunity they have taken, and I think they're going to be in real trouble this year. Too often, their wingers have been unable to make enough of a difference to a game, and they've rode their luck for too long. They have it in them to score a few, but they're prone to being caught out on the counter and their defence has been exposed time and time again last season. There's big gaps there which need to be filled, and Radulič has made a mistake by choosing youth instead of experience in defence. It's going to come back to haunt them, and I can see this being the season that Ajbental finally slip through that trap door.
Prediction: 18th, relegated

Image

Atletika Vanuku
ImageImageImage
Last season: B-League, 3rd
Manager: Klim Jacosov
Stadium: Arena Atletikii, Vanuku (28,400)
Vanuku won their place in this season's Premier Division thanks to a dramatic playoff victory against Taimanesta. The question they now face is, are they good enough to stay here? Jacosov has done a brilliant job with very limited funds and some players who aren't exactly household names, and I admire the squad he's built up here. They're not brilliantly talented footballers, and they're not likely to score many, but he has set up a solid, organised defensive unit which knows how to get results, and as a club making its Premier Division bow, that's just what you need. They don't do anything fancy, but they don't really need to. They'll be down the wrong end of the table come the end of the season, and I think everyone associated with the club accepts that, but they'll battle bravely against the drop, and I think they've got just enough in them to stay up.
Prediction: 16th

Image

Avnani Athletic
ImageImageImage
Last season: 8th
Manager: Kipra Kaplani
Stadium: Parc Semnal, Avnani (41,200)
After bursting into life during their first season at this level, Avnani have been on a slow decline. They were able to play a direct, imposing style of football which made life trouble for many opponents, but they're slowly being found out and they don't look quite as comfortable as they once did. Changes have been made to try and avoid the stagnation, though. They'll be looking to carry out a similar, albeit more refined plan this season, their defence bolstered by the addition of Ledio Čuranov from Taimanesta, but they don't really seem to have a plan B which means they struggle against top clubs. If they manage to surprise everyone again, they might well battle their way to a place in the top six, but otherwise, they'll just be another mid-table team who won't have much impact on the final standings. Not recommended for entertainment value.
Prediction: 11th

Image

Chyri
ImageImageImage
Last season: 3rd
Manager: Photius Chyba
Stadium: Stadion nasiyonala Chyr autonome, Chyr (53,810)
Chyri, as a club, have taken the old "no-one likes us and we don't care" mentality and ran with it. They seem to spend most of their existence fighting a running battle with Kinitar football authorities, and they seem to like it that way, having gained a bit of a reputation as an "alternative" club while enjoying success on the field - their third-place finish and entry into the Globe Cup infuriated many last season. They've done brilliantly to smash all expectations in the face of hostility with their rapid brand of attacking football which many opponents last season struggled to deal with. They do have their weaknesses, though - their confidence is so easy to knock, and they fell from a league title challenge following nine straight defeats, the worst run of any team all season. Nevertheless, they should be safely up there come the end of this campaign.
Prediction: 4th

Image

Čilibeni Town
ImageImageImage
Last season: B-League, 1st
Manager: Devis Hajdari
Stadium: Stadion Lupani, Čilibeni (30,000)
Two years ago, Čilibeni were invited to become founder members of the Premier Division. This choice was widely derided throughout Kinitaria and the team were promptly relegated following a dismal campaign. The Čilibeni side which prepares to retake its position in the upper echelons of Kinitar football is quite a different animal. They won the second tier in style, Yousef Vultarin functioning effectively as the target of most Čilibeni attacks, and providing the skill and technique to give them goals when they needed them most. They also provided a solid defensive display, efficiently commanded by right-back and captain Zakhar Kompus. How they'll adjust to life in the Premier Division remains to be seen, but I think they'll do just enough to avoid the drop this time. There are at least three worse teams in the league, so they should be alright.
Prediction: 17th

Image

AFC Damaciu
ImageImageImage
Last season: 11th
Manager: Rumen Zupanič
Stadium: Arena Damacii, Damaciu (38,370)
Damaciu needed to rebuild after almost being relegated a couple of years ago, and I think it's fair to say they managed that. Key signings include the Swiss midfielder Gordon du-Lusavik, and a rejuvenated squad managed to achieve a safe mid-table position last season. They have to continue to push on, though, and they definitely have the ability to do so. They play simple, effective football and they've got the goals in them. On the other hand, they are prone to conceding a lot, thanks to a back line which is neither as young or as mobile as it once was. Zupanič knows how to motivate a team, and they often look their best in key matches, but on the other hand, games against teams in the lower reaches of the table can be a problem for them. The next step for them is to secure a top-half position and I think they're good enough to do so.
Prediction: 8th

Image

Dinamo Paleu
ImageImageImage
Last season: 7th
Manager: Sulamit Rustemcič
Stadium: Stadion "Dinamo", Paleu (43,360)
Dinamo were widely regarded as a boring team for a long time, so it's good to see Rustemcič taking action to shed that label. They put in some superb performances last season, including a stunning 5-1 away win over eventual champions Mi'ato City, so it's a shame that they struggled to find consistency and were unable to turn their dominance in a lot of games into victories. Their defence is solid enough, but they have a problem with distribution, finding it hard to get the ball quickly from defence to attack, which means that teams with a lot of pace are going to cut right through them. They can score almost at will, though - they had the best scoring record in the league outside of the top three. If they can up the tempo a little, they could be looking at a successful season, and I'd put them down as this year's outside bet for a UICA place.
Prediction: 5th

Image

Fojvalva Dragons
ImageImageImage
Last season: 13th
Manager: Talim Ciumak
Stadium: The Dragons' Lair, Fojvalva (36,940)
I'm not really sure what to make of the Dragons. They're very unlikely to be dragged into a relegation fight, but there's no way they're going to be at the top end of the table. They're a boring sort of mid-table side who offer what is possibly one of the worst entertainment values in the league. They do have some positive qualities, they look calm on the ball and they don't panic when trouble looms, and that will be enough to see them safe in the league, but if you're a neutral looking for an exciting spectacle... well, we've got nineteen other teams for you to choose from. Expect lots of route-one hoofballs, scrappy goals from set pieces, cheap fouls and low-scoring games. They can kill off a game very effectively, to their credit, but many football purists are unhappy with how Ciumak's set them out to play.
Prediction: 14th

Image

Inovita
ImageImageImage
Last season: 6th
Manager: Bedri Yurkovič
Stadium: Parc Četatii, Inovita (47,200)
Inovita looked to be heading for an uneventful mid-table finish last season until a late surge up the table saw them claim sixth place, remaining in with a chance of a UICA place until the last couple of weeks. They've strengthened in the close season, and they've made the crucial signing of Genadi Tesič, who is in a position to mastermind the team's attacks and lead them forward. They can effectively play with six at the back when they need to, and it's this which makes their defence so hard to penetrate. A favoured strategy of Yurkovič involves launching a rapid counter-attack which Inovita certainly have the ability to do, and late breaks forward won them a great deal of points over the course of last season. Some critics have questioned whether they'll be able to carry their form into the new season, but I think they'll be able to, and they'll claim a decent finishing position.
Prediction: 6th

Image

Junulara Fojvalva
ImageImageImage
Last season: 16th
Manager: Abas Lasič
Stadium: Stadion Junularii, Fojvalva (32,740)
They were tipped for great things last season. They did give their fans some drama, but unfortunately it was at the wrong end of the table as they saw themselves dragged into a relegation scrap. They ensured their safety with a couple of weeks to go, but action will be needed to make sure they're not in that kind of situation again. They did have some bad luck, with some crucial decisions going against them, and I don't think they're going to be in a lot of danger this time around. A lot of their troubles last season were due to their committing too many men forward in search of a goal, which left them vulnerable at the back. They're not going to mount the same UICA challenge we saw from them a couple of years back, but if they tighten up a bit at the back and stop taking so many risks, they'll be able to make a start on their rebuilding process.
Prediction: 13th

Image

Kasmenai Phoenix
ImageImageImage
Last season: 17th
Manager: Bentan Kostenčev
Stadium: Ter Komunada, Kasmenai (24,000)
We knew there'd be drama when Kasmenai were promoted. They were a shining example of how to prepare for life in the top tier, but early results, like a 2-5 reverse at Damaciu, got the better of them. But they kept on fighting, and they secured their survival on a dramatic final day of the season. Manager Kostenčev came up from the B-League with them, and he's shown excellent foresight and planning with some good new signings, including the right-back Brenko Cindric from Mytannion. They needed to tighten up their defence, and that's exactly what the manager's moved to do with them. Their aim now has to be to secure their status as a top-flight club, and I think they've got enough in them to build up from a good last season. They should stay up more comfortably this time, and I foresee no more last day drama for them.
Prediction: 15th

Image

Litora United
ImageImageImage
Last season: 9th
Manager: Lenta Drevensek
Stadium: Stadion Munisipaliya, Litora (47,500)
Litora United, the crisis club of Kinitar football, are rapidly running out of money. They were forced into a fire sale of players, but they were still losing cash at an alarming rate, they've been unable to secure sponsorship and a proposed takeover deal has collapsed. So, they're in trouble. From a footballing point of view, however, they're a fairly effective team. Dalča Nurmanov is a very good striker, and Leon Cantacuzino can always chip in with a goal or two. They have an effective defence which can shut down almost any threat. So what's the problem? The scale of the financial mismanagement at Litora is unknown, with the FFK seemingly unwilling to launch an investigation into the matter. This Litora side is a long way from the top-three team of just two years ago, and they'll probably limp to a mid-table finish, but there are far bigger issues facing this club.
Prediction: 10th

Image

Metallist
ImageImageImage
Last season: B-League, 2nd
Manager: Durko Pyč
Stadium: Arena Metallisti, Nordhaven (25,720)
Here is the perfect example of how not to prepare your team for life in the top tier. Manager Durko Pyč has had very little financial backing from the board and was forced to sell some key players in order to raise transfer funds, but he has bought poorly and the replacements look less than adequate. Metallist have a very young and untested squad and I would question their ability to last through the season. Their formation is often static, and opposing forwards are able to cut right through them. I can't see where the goals are going to come from, and you really have to worry for them if a few of their first-team players pick up injuries. It's looking like being a long and difficult season for Metallist fans, and unfortunately, I can't see it leading anywhere but a one-way ticket straight back to the B-League. Ah well, better luck next time.
Prediction: 20th, relegated

Image

Mi'ato
ImageImageImage
Last season: 2nd
Manager: Talim Hirkov
Stadium: Stadion "Lumar Beqiri", Mi'ato (67,260)
They had the title snatched away from them in the last few seconds last time around. But at least they have the consolation prizes of the Supercup, the League Cup, the Proletarian Shield and the award for worst away kit in the league. Seriously, look at that thing. The plan of playing Čyran Malpomir on his own up front was a risky one, but it worked out brilliantly for them as the striker shot up the scoring charts and Mi'ato were a few seconds away from completing an unprecedented domestic quadruple. Led magnificently by national team captain Yulian Kovačev, Mi'ato are sure to be out for revenge over their nearest and dearest and I can easily see this being another title race which goes right down to the wire. It's a big call to make this season, but I think the title is just beyond Talim Hirkov's men for yet another year.
Prediction: 2nd

Image

Mi'ato City
ImageImageImage
Last season: Champions
Manager: Yelman Ilievič
Stadium: Stadion Orašii, Mi'ato (69,000)
Here they are, the champions. The scenes of delerium at the Stadion Orašii following the late goal which secured the title for City are unlikely to be matched for a long time - so let's hope they provide us with just as much entertainment this season. The front three of Royce, Sabčot and Mihalcič has become the most feared attacking line in Kinitaria, and with good reason, as City hammered in 76 goals on their way to becoming champions. At the back, Anton Spirlea is likely to be the key link yet again in what was one of the meanest defences in Kinitaria over the last campaign. Their one weakness is a lack of depth - it was a choice of league or cups last season, and they chose league, with early exits from both cup competitions. I can see it being a similar decision again this season, but I think they've got just enough in them to hold off the challenge of Mi'ato and retain their title.
Prediction: 1st, champions

Image

Ščela Rapide
ImageImageImage
Last season: 14th
Manager: Elvald Hoza
Stadium: Parc Rapidii, Ščela (30,620)
Ščela were another team who surprised everyone last season. They did this by not being relegated. A very poor team which bundled in a few lucky goals and ended up finishing a few places higher than they deserved. If anything, they've just got worse over the pre-season, and they're going to struggle this year. They play a very direct and physical style of football, which led to them receiving the most red cards in the division, and one of their strategies seems to be to intimidate opponents out of the game. It's a strategy which probably works wonders further down the pyramid, but isn't very effective here, since most Premier Division teams have come up against a lot worse in the past. I predicted that Ščela would get relegated last season, and they weren't. But miracles don't happen twice, and I'm predicting once more that they'll get relegated.
Prediction: 19th, relegated.

Image

FC Serenberg
ImageImageImage
Last season: 12th
Manager: Elbis Vargo
Stadium: Stadion Republicana, Serenberg (49,830)
Given the talent apparent in the Serenberg squad, you'd expect them to be doing a lot better than they actually are. They've got some talented players, but they just don't seem to be able to gel properly. Maybe it's a lack of confidence, a lack of team chemistry, or even an issue with the coaching, there's something preventing these very good footballers from playing to their potential, and it means they're a very inconsistent team who are often unable to string a few wins together. They've kept much the same squad this season, and it seems as though Elbis Vargo intends to try to sort out the team's issues internally rather than replacing a large proportion of his starting 11. If the team can finally click and start playing to their full potential, they could have a very good season ahead of them, but I fail to see how they're actually going to achieve that.
Prediction: 12th

Image

Unione de Fule
ImageImageImage
Last season: 4th
Manager: Suran Blazev
Stadium: Stadion Proletare, Fule (41,520)
A formerly injury-hit squad finally came into its own last season and showed everyone what they were capable of, pushing their rivals all the way as they secured a spot in the Globe Cup for this season. A simple, attacking 4-4-2 works wonders for them, with the team able to commit its wide midfielders forward to join the attack and overrun opposing defences, and they were certainly never short of goals last season. One area where there is some concern is that, while the first team is excellent, the reserves are less so, and if they suffer any significant injury problems, as they did a couple of years ago, they could be in a lot of trouble. I think they'll be able to maintain their good performances from last season, but I would question if their squad can last the distance and I would say that another UICA challenge is just out of their reach.
Prediction: 7th

Image

Universita Tirinthea
ImageImageImage
Last season: 5th
Manager: Emanuel Stofan
Stadium: Stadion Universitii, Tirinthea (40,000)
Tirinthea fans must be getting ever so slightly frustrated - they've finished fifth two seasons in a row, and missed out on a glorious opportunity to enter UICA competition on the final day of last season. Still, Emanuel Stofan is a very capable manager, and he's made some superb signings, including the return of young sensation Milan Beskid to Kinitaria following two very successful seasons in the Free Swiss States. He goes straight into the starting lineup. The three-pronged attack can devastate any opposition on their day, and their football is some of the most aesthetically pleasing in the entire league, characterised by some fast, flowing buildup play. There's a great sense of harmony amongst this Tirinthea side, and I feel that this is the year in which they break through into the top four. This team could well be capable of achieving some great things.
Prediction: 3rd

So there you have it. All twenty teams in the Premier Division, profiled for your viewing pleasure. Can Mi'ato snatch the crown from their hated cross-capital rivals? Who will emerge victorious in the battle against the drop? And which players will be sporting the silliest haircuts in the league? Stay tuned to find out.

International competition

Alianza Ciruelas relied on their defense to shut out four out of five opponents, but gave up two whole goals to Astograth University to come third. Blén CA used their Cabañas effect to stave off Atlético Cabañas, although Arcrés Millos and Fábricas wasn't very effective, Alianza Ciruelas didn't need any, and Ojedo Cerro watched their opponents' backfire. Then Medoria Löwen bested Alianza Ciruelas, although their leaguemates were taken down by CF Clan Tropa. Blén CA continued to win against Beauclaire FC, despite being convinced they were in Darmen, while CA Condadore slumped in extra time and Blén lost in the qualifying stage. Ojedo Cerro slumped in extra time, although CD Quemavilla did not, as both of those matchups featured the same scoreline.

Unión de Ciudagua nonchalantly took down the Mardi Lopunnies, 5-0; CF Clan Tropa featured mixed chalance and incredulity as they throttled East Franz Athletic, 6-0. Alianza Ciruelas proved unable to defend their title, although fans were pleased to see the tiebreakers nicely listed, including the merits of fair play. (If your club enjoys the merits of fair play, and/or breakfast, we have an offer for you...) CD Quemavilla posted a better goal difference than any of our other teams. Just because. They then lost to Cardiff, and didn't wail about it.

CF Clan Tropa continued to mystify everyone by winning 5-0 (okay, the -0 part is not that mystifying, but come on!); Unión de Ciudagua won 3-0, which was less surprising, and that they went on to lose 1-0 and draw 0-0 was particularly sensible. Clan Tropa lost to Yuba United, and some sort of order was restored. Unión de Ciudagua drew 1-1, then lost 3-0, which they sulked about, but not really that long because they were sixth not too long ago.

CA Condadore got blanked by Fontvielle Impact, ending their campaign after they defeated Mar Sara FC. The highlight of their campaign, however, was undoubtedly watching the announcers struggle to commentate on their encounter with Condensadores CD.

Primera División

Are you...okay, fine. Fine, if that's how it has to be, I'll do the color commentary. No, I've got this, it'll be fine. I'll just, you know, talk about what the teams did last season, and then suggest what they might do this one. No, you're right, last season was chaotic, nobody could have predicted...you didn't predict that, though, that was a suprise, to all of us, yeah. Well, okay. Fine. Sure, no, I'll just, I'll just give some background.

Okay, so, like, Alianza Ciruelas! On paper they were still the best team in the league, though, once again, that's what people said last season, but instead they only came third, accumulating 29 points with a +4 difference. So this season, perhaps, it would make sense to see more of the same. Um.

Further down, teams going to the Globe Cup last season might try again. Remember, CA Condadore, fourth last season, and also champions of the cup last time out. Fifth last season were Blén CA, who were, erm, not very noteworthy in the cup last time (they lost to only the second-best Mineros in the tournament), but who, um, have history like Condadore's, well maybe they don't, but sort of, they met in the semifinals not too long ago and--yeah this is beyond the scope of this part too. Okay, whatever, ICD Villago, might break into the top half, might not, even if they're sixth again, they can't complain because we only have five UICA spots for the first division teams anyway.

Um, let's see.

No puedo comenzar, hay demasiados equipos...pues. Algunos perdieron diez partidos. Villago y otros...

Right, okay, Universidad de Dénprade are an extremely offensive team, and so their goal difference is vulnerable, the new manager not fitting in well there. Let's see, Deportivo Peralta, trying to rally and avoid the playoffs.

Y tuvieron éxito.

Right. Um. They had a harder road than AC Mineros, for whom even rallying out of the Clausura basement might not be enough. Predictable stuff.

That meant that, downspiralling after Carmen Torillas' retirement (does anyone really know how to spell that?), 12 de noviembre finished last.

Entonces, ellos y CD Quemavilla ambos marcaron un gól, y tenían que jugar otro partido. Pues, para los aficionados en Ciudagua, había más para ver...

Well technically the regular season was over before the playoffs, that's kind of the point.

Pues. En su cuarto partido, 12 de noviembre ganó contra CF Clan Tropa. En ese momento no era gran cosa; ya habían ganado y ganaron otros partidos también. Pero, CF Clan Tropa...no perdieron más. Siete partidos después, regresamos a Ciudagua, allí ganamos.

I...sort of thought you weren't doing the color commentary, but--

Puedes callarte y escuchar a los cantos.

Good plan.

On the edge up by the ocean things are not exactly frigid
But we make something amazing when we take the small field.
The midfield comes alive, the defense seems to be more rigid
Than any team before us because we never yield.

The false starts have been numerous, the letdowns have been legion
Today, however, everyone will echo our name.
We no longer just sound like we're the best in the whole region,
We proved it day by day and here we are at last, the best at the game.

Since both of them beat Bovinos del Pueblo Jaime by the same score, a scintillating and goal-filled playoff was required, won by the Estrellas. On penalties, Biesperanza won the bracket to relegate Jóquey de Morbeza. Subfusiles play off against CD Victoria.

Good news for the capital metropolitan area...

Bids:

CC: Estadio Aramis Peralta (Ciudad Peralta, 68,000)

Best beer: first deck, Raúl's. Alternatively, second deck, another branch of Raúl's located directly above the original one. Alternatively if you don't like Raúl, also second deck, not quite a quarter of the way counter-clockwise from the original branch of Raúl's. Basically the beer is pretty good here. As far as food goes it's almost worth your time to find a seat in the right place and try to bring, like, marshmellows or something to roast from a distance.

GC: Centro Deportivo Nacional (Blén, 33,000)

Best souvenir stand: for foreign visitors, try the one on the first deck by the women's rooms, where you can get logoed stuff in all sorts of apparel that might be more appropriate to your climate than ours. There's, like, baseball caps! And ski masks! You can even probably rob banks with them if you'd like, just don't rob ours, please. Despite recent brainstorming there are no souvenir jock straps, hopefully nobody would even be in a position to spot the logos anyway...

SBCC: "Estadio Arcrés" (Arcrés, 55,500)

Best places to buy "creative and exciting ways to annoy anyone within earshot": honestly, the cramped stall on the second deck with the jibberish banners, not because they're particularly cheap or high-quality, but because if you try and go up to the third deck you probably won't make it back to your seat by the end of halftime. If you can get there early enough, though, definitely make the trek up, the acoustics are set up so that there's not much annoying feedback when you test your new megaphone.

AC Mineros blanked Unión de Ciudagua, with Hernándo Becerra scoring twice. In a battle of old-timers, struggling 12 de noviembre beat recently-promoted Deportivo Peralta comprehensively...and then turned around and lost by five, which pretty much tells you how their first and second halves of this double-season went. The third team from the Ciudagua metropolitan area had already been eliminated.

Deportivo Peralta handled another difficult draw with attacking style, José Enrique Carbajal's seventieth-minute goal making the difference over two legs after some sloppy play from both defenses. (He is not related to the golden boot winner from 12 de noviembre a generation ago; neither is his midfield teammate, who shares a first name with the latter.) CA Condadore defeated Mapabore Juventud, which should not be a big deal because they are good (especially at cups now) and Mapabore are not. Except not too long ago this was a cup final matchup. Oh well, it's not like our first division teams are that good at locking down the cup final anyway...

Quarterfinals:
Blén CA 3-4 Deportivo Peralta (3-4 agg)

Independiente Peralta 1-3 CSD Trecelunas (1-3 agg)

Ojedo Cerro 2-2 CA Condadore (2-3 agg)

2 de abril 2-3 San Pablo (2-3 agg)
San Pablo 2-1 2 de abril (5-3 agg)

At this point there should be a lot of good teams, right? So it's not a surprise that Depor drew another first-division team, right?

Well, no, seeing as how there was only one other first-division team left in the other three matchups. Including two from the city of San Pablo, one of whom won and the other of whom fell to CA Condadore. Depor eventually went out, as Juan Mario Pedroso scored in extra time.

Semifinals:
Blén CA 2-2 CSD Trecelunas (2-2 agg)
CSD Trecelunas 1-4 Blén CA (3-6 agg)

CA Condadore 1-0 San Pablo (1-0 agg)
San Pablo 1-2 CA Condadore (1-3 agg)

Marianela Anaya secured a late equalizer for Blén in the first leg, before they went on to win the second with goals to spare anyway so it didn't really matter. Manolo Hurtado scored the only goal for the Pumas.

Final:
Seventh Round
Blén CA 0-0 CA Condadore (0-0 AET, 1-3 PKs)

Fancy that! There were various morbid chants from both sides to enliven the otherwise uneventful two hours, Blén fans are mixed once again as to whether this represents a successful campaign or just a scoreless draw representing the meaninglessness of stuff, Elías Montalvo saved a bunch of penalties, and CA Condadore are now truly known more as a cup team than one for upsets; they've won two in a row and three of the last four, losing the other. Good grief.

They will go to the Cygnus Cup again. Bidding to host:

Estadio Valor, Dénprade (38,000)

One of the newish stadiums. If the lines are misdrawn and that makes even this field too small, again, not to worry! We have a rich supply of chalk to redraw the lines with. And, since there has no longer been an actual university in Dénprade for years and years (the local club's name aside), there is nowhere else to put the chalk.

Ferdullaele defeated La Nueva Avenida to keep their top position. The result, however, was incredible. 15 goals in one match. Setentriona scored twice, Lazzia twice too, Wanderis twice, as well, Danielsen thrice and Drummer, Mêndêlöíndçêl and Fu once. Avenida Victoria also won, to avoid having to give up. Juárez was their goalscorer, with a scissor kick. FW won thanks to two goals by Kylx, both in the 90th minute. Tympú won 5-0 thanks to Numbá and Nukaba, with two goals each. An own goal made the score five late-game. La Nueva Avenida's manager was sacked after the horrible loss against Ferdullaele. Conceding twelve was too much for any team.

Ferdullaele continued thrashing teams. It all looked like they would win their 73rd cup. Danielsen, Lazzia (x2), Wanderis and Fu (x3) scored for Ferdullaele against Sent 01. With their new manager, La Nueva Avenida won 6-0 against Suburban Farfadillis. Avenida Victoria won 3-0 thanks to Marino, Juárez and Herrero, all scoring one goal. FW won thanks to a goal scored by Kylx on the seventh minute. He also hit the post seven times. Tympú lost to Fryi Frêndê, the surprising underdog that constantly trolls the bigger teams, apparently. Ferdullaele had suffered them, now it was Tympú. Ferdullaele and AV were officially the only two teams with high chances of winning the FFL. Ferdullaele with more chances, but they still had to face FW, Tympú and Fryi Frêndê. These matches could (or would) later on cost Ferdullaele the tournament.

When looking at the scores, you might be all like "Whoah, Ferdullaele looks like an extremely good team.", but, well, it's not. Suburban Farfadillis was winning 1-0 on the tenth minute when a player shot the referee. Suburban Farfadillis was sanctioned with 14 goals against. This way, Ferdullaele thrashed yet another team when it seemed like Avenida Victoria could get the top position once again. But, well, 14-1 is still impressive, regardless of who plays against who and also regardless of how the score came to be. Anyways, Avenida Victoria would've wasted any chance of reaching Ferdullaele's amount of points because of tying with Toimputa, a pretty big surprise to everyone. Herrero scored for Avenida Victoria, but it wasn't enough as Toimputa would equalize. A team that was playing to avoid relegation got to draw against a team fighting for the championship at their home, La Gran Avenida. This shocked many. FW won comfortably against Libertarian Ferdullaele, a team which likes to express their political ideas through football. They're a party, actually. However, if they got votes according to their performance, they'd be the party with the worst percentage of votes. Anyways, Kikenka scored a good hat-trick while Démbéllé scored an awesome goal after dribbling 7 players, too. He even chipped the ball over the goalkeeper. The goal would later on be nominated for the FFL goal of the year. Tympú also won against Llefraga, but 4-1 instead of 4-0. Nukaba and Numbá once again scored twice. The were the most feared strikers by far. However, Tympú's inconsistency made it hard for them to win the important matches.

Ferdullaele won 8-1 thanks to 2 goals from each of their strikers, plus one from Pickton and one from Wanderis. Avenida Victoria won against Flying Jellyfish to keep the slightiest of hopes of maybe winning the tournament. However, it seemed improbable. Both goals were scored by their attacking duo. Nice Fact: Juárez has scored twice as much goals as Herrero has. The match everyone was looking forward, though, was FW against Tympú. Both teams were from the top three (now five, as Fryi Frêndê and Avenida Victoria were doing pretty well) teams. In the end, Nukaba and Numbá (x2), would bring too much complications for the wanderian defense, which couldn't stop Tympú from scoring thrice, beating Kikenka's lone goal. FW was officially out of the run for the championship, and was kind of complicated for the GC spot.

A reallly boring matchday. Ferdullaele won 5-0 with Danielsen, Fu, Pickton, Lazzia and Wanderis scoring. Tympú won 2-0 with Nukaba scoring once and Makevic too. Avenida Victoria defeated the FOMT 2-0 with two goals by Marino. FW also won 1-0 thanks to Kylx, who assisted Smith with a shot that hit the post. Really boring.

Ferdullaele thrashed Toimputa away at the Stadion. Fu, Danielsen, Drummer (x2), Lazzia, Fellay (x4, entered on the 70th minute) and Mêndêlöíndçêl proved to be too much for the karuvean toimputans. Tympú also scored ten goals with Nukaba and Numbá, now seemingly unstoppable, with both scoring 5. Avenida Victoria got to win against Fryi Frêndê on a match they had to win. Juárez scored a bicycle kick nominated for the FFL best goal of the year. It was really nice and neat, specially because of how the goalkeeper dived to no use. People japed of the goal as being "too lucky, even for Avenida Victoria". Jokes would eventually cease on the last matchday. FW won because of goals scored by Janguje, Kikenka, Smith and Kylx.

Ferdullaele won 7-1 for like the hundredth time. Pickton (x3), Fu, Mêndêlöíndçêl and two own goals did the trick. Meanwhile, Tympú tied with Suburban Farfadillis effecting giving up all hope they had left for the championship and leaving everything to Ferdullaele and Avenida Victoria. Makevic, Numbá and Rovic were the scorers. Avenida Victoria got a 2-0 win against Llefraga to keep their hopes in the run for the championship. Marino and Herrero, both with headers after a cross from Juárez, sentenced Llefraga to a loss. FW got a good comeback against Green Ruland with two late goals by Kylx, who had hit the post ten times before.

Not much to highlight except on these three matchdays other than the match between Ferdullaele and their rivals, Libertarian Ferdullaele. Not much of rivalry, though. FW and Avenida Victoria also played against each other, with Avenida Victoria getting an agonizing equalizing goal in the end. However, this left AV almost out of possibilities of winning the tournament when coupled with the tie in "El Clasico", didn't it?

And now, Numbá makes it completely clear that he's back. He even shouted that (I'm back) after dribbling Lazzia and Altamirano and shooting down to Lisdiren's right post. With that, Tympú won "Gre Casíco" by the same difference they had lost it. Now, Avenida Victoria could say that they had some hope left. Ferdullaele just had to mess up big time, and they wanted to make sure that they were breathing down their necks to allow for it. They thrashed Suburban Farfadillis with all four goals scored by Juárez. FW won, 2-0, against Toimputa with two goals by Kikenka, the criminal hujukian late midfielder who likes to score strange goals. However, this win only worked as some way to get the GC spot, the only thing FW could wish for now. Considering the amount of money they wasted, that's really lame.

And now it seems like everything is headed to hell for Ferdullaele. Now, Fryi Frêndê officially turned into the only team in the league they couldn't beat twice. Both draws, taking four precious points from Ferdullaele, and again on the last minute. Fu's goal wasn't enough for a win. However, Avenida Victoria was still two points away from the 1st place, considering their earlier 2-0 win against Fragrafagardanialles, a team that recently won a trophy for most complicated name to pronounce in all Farfadillis. Herrero and Juárez did the trick. FW won against Flying Jellyfish comfortably with a 3-1 lead that lasted seventy-two minutes. That's because Kylx scored three early goals. Tympú won 4-0, and guess what? Yeah! Numbá and Nukaba were the goalscorers once again, with two goals each.

Things kid of back to normal. Ferdullaele had no tough match like Fryi Frêndê or Tympú, but they still had to care about the last matchday against FW, because, if Avenida Victoria won all the games they had left, it could happen. Howevewr, looking at how FW had been doing, they weren't that worried, that and, Avenida Victoria still had to beat Tympú, a draw would've been a defeat. What made it look worse for Avenida Victoria were two things: They had conceded a goal, which is completely normal, but not for them, although they had won with a Juárez hat-trick and that Tympú had won once again thanks to Numbá (x2), Nukaba, Rovic and Makevic. FW won, too. This time it was against the FOMT, Smith alone was enough.

Ferdullaele continued preparing for the decisive match against FW by thrashing other teams mercilessly and relentlessly. Danielsen, Fu (x3), Wanderis (x2) and Pickton (x2) were the goalscorers this time. Tympú prepared for the match against Avenida Victoria by thrashing Green Ruland 5-0. Numbá, Rovic (x2) and Makevic (x2) scored. Nukaba didn't play because the manager decided it'd be wiser to let him rest for the match against Avenida Victoria. FW, however, didn't prepare that well in terms of results for the match against Ferdullaele. They drew with Fryi Frêndê, which actually was expected seeing how Fryi Frêndê had been performing. Kikenka scored for FW. Avenida Victoria won 2-0 against Libertarian Ferdullaele with two free kicks sent in by Marino. Now, it was all going to be decided on the next two matchdays, with Tympú-AV and FW-Ferdullaele

Ferdullaele won, with two goals by Danielsen and two by Fu. FW won, with three goals by Kylx. But neither of those matches were truly important, as the match that everyone was looking forward to was Tympú-Avenida Victoria. If Avenida Victoria didn't win, they'd be officially out of the battle for the championship, as they'd end up being four points away from Ferdullaele with a draw. In the end, Herrero and Juárez were more than Nukaba and Numbá, but the battle was fierce. Juárez scored a saving goal in the 55th minute with a header. Then, on a counterattack on the 70th minute, Herrero left the goalkeeper laying in the floor with no chance to stop the inminent goal. This way, Avenida Victoria won 2-0 and still had hopes for the championship. However, they had to win and pray for FW to win too. The latter was almost impossible. Only Tympú had been capable of defeating Ferdullaele and it had been really hard for them, the chances of FW winning were much less. Yeah, they had managed a draw last time, but they needed FW to win.

And it all comes down to the last matchday. Ferdullaele has to draw to secure the championship. Even if they lose, however unlikely, Avenida Victoria would've to win. It all seems like this will become the championship in which Ferdullaele had to struggle the most to win. But, maybe, just maybe, a miracle happens.

MATCHDAY 38

And so the unexpected happened. Feardallis' Wanderers defeated Ferdullaele at Estadio Nueva Palmira. They even did it comfortably. Kylx scored both goals, one early game and one in the last minutes, when the game was fading away. However, Avenida Victoria still had to defeat Fragardallians, a team that had drawn with them last time. Avenida Victoria took the lead on the 47th minute, when Juárez headed a cross from Bartoloměj and scored a goal that the goalkeeper couldn't have got, not even in his imagination. Ferdullaele was now second, it was all darkness for Ferdullaele and light for Avenida Victoria. However, Fragardallans would equalize with a free kick just on the 88th minute, when the match was dying. The wall was horribly-positioned and that allowed for an equalizing goal. Ferdullaelans celebrating, and victorians crying. However, a last minute goal would arrive via Juárez, who now is part of the victorians' heart, he got the ball at the box's edge, dribbled a player, then dribbled another and continued to shoot violently. The goalkeeper couldn't keep the powerful shot and the rebound was left to Juárez once again, who, with him laying on the floor, shot violently once again, effectively giving Avenida Victoria the win that gave them the FFL and the goal that gave him a perfect 1 goal per game record. The goal also provoked a small-intensity earthquake, the most powerful in Farf history (2.2 in Richter scale). People all over Puerto Farolero went out to celebrate. Defeating the gigant Ferdullaele was possible afterall, and their feat, however small, was one to be proud of. Little did it matter that FW didn't get to the GC because of their rivals, La Nueva Avenida, which lost to the other team who didn't lose to Ferdullaele along with FW, Fryi Frêndê. Little did it matter that Tympú won 6-0, with Nukaba and Numbá both scoring hat-tricks. All that mattered was that they had won and that they were heading for the TakilQuip Champions' Cup's preliminary stage.

Note: The Farf second division has been abolished by the Federal Council for the time being. Suburban Farfadillis and Geyinstanles United will have at least one year of hiatus, meanwhile, Koloko and Ñandfe will get to the FFL just in time, because they're the second division teams with the most seasons in the FFL.

Slembanan Premier League - 2014-15 season review

Bafilo United are the champions! They stormed back from being 4th at the halfway point to top the table by three points at the end. The Red Rhinos, as United are nicknamed, won all-but three of their games in the second half of the season, after losing five in the first half. The three others in the top four were Bafilo City, Anderson City, and Chelsea City. Yavelsk Rovers, usual fixtures in the top four, finished down in 5th - just one point off the top four.

The three teams who went down were Hardvesk Argyle, Ponting, and Bafilo Ambers.

So, with two teams reaching the final and a neutral venue being required, the organisers rather predictably chose to swell the Blockhead coffers by hosting it at the Bleak Rock national stadium - Völlinn af Fjórum Húsum in Mið-Sal.

Final
Echegoyan FC (ASG) 0-1 Iturributa United (ITB)

So, congratulations to Iturributa United in what was a rather grudge-match-y tie. Appropriately, the CdC is re-born with a new champion from a new nation!

Future bids for host stadia will be taken into consideration, though the default in case of no bids will always be Völlinn af Fjórum Húsum.
A final reminder also that Rushmori nations only will be able to submit their league champions only for entry into the next CdC, the submission period opened when Commerce Heights closed entries to the last UICA tournaments, and will close again when Commerce Heights closes entries to the next UICA tournaments. No more invitations will be sent. You must indicate in your league summary that you wish your league champion to take part.

So A.C Barassia have won the second Mashik Copen den te Nazionen, and advance into the Globe Cup as well as the Cygnus Cup. South Bartal performed well in their opening season of UICA football, reaching the Globe Cup group stages, before going out with just 1 win. They also went out of the Rushmori Copa de Campeones to another fellow group-mate Pays de Croix of Saugeais, who are slowly beginning to rack up their matches against us. As I said before there are some changes to the league as well.

First of all the leagues will be frozen for 2 seasons, therefore allowing the top teams to mould their position before teams from the leagues below them come fighting. There was some commotion around this which eventually resulted in 16 teams leaving the process altogether. This means that there are now only 4 lower leagues, of which the winners will be placed in Series B Champions Cup next season. Therefore this season no teams will be relegated or promoted. So that's another season over, and we'll be seeing you for the next season of Mashik football very soon!

3rd Title

After selling Fajú to Helsirn CSKA, Svenga team, Pacahocaf had to struggle a lot to retain their title. How they did it was shocking, they ended up tied at the Tabla Anual and almost won both Apretura and Clausura. Eventually, they'd have to beat Atit Laí twice. The first was a really hard fight for them, however, new young talent, Monsió Darmafá managed to score no less than five goals in the final to give his team their third title. It was his fifth match with Pacahocaf, and the first as a starter, he hadn't played the semifinal.

Qualified for the Champions Cup: Pacahocaf SC
Qualified for the Campeonato de Campeones: Pacahocaf SC
Qualified for the Globe Cup: Atit Laí FC, Yuambú SC and Atit Afia AC

Hutt River Liga 1 preview

After the league in Ipeland was disbanded, the clubs of Hutt River (all clubs entered under one association) had no league to entertain themselves with. Several attempts to form a league have been unsuccessful, stopping after half a season or so due to weather or too many teams dropping out. This time it's a professional attempt to organize a long running competition, with several 'higher league teams' signed up. Let's see what they have to offer:

Kleinestadt
Stadium: Spur der Parks (Capacity: 8,500)
Squad: James, Berg, Scherer, Hirsch, Maur, Smith, Cole (c), Foerster, Gloeckner, Schreiber, Maurer (4-3-3)
History: Once Hutt River's sole representative in the Ipelandic Football League, once it was disbanded there were a few more. The last Ipelandic Football League season they were set to be promoted to Division One, having been replaced in the spot for to Hutt Riverian club the previous season by Gefertigt.
Season ahead: Unlike most others in the league, Kleinestadt have retained most of their original squad. This will surely be a boost as the squad was a decent second division side. Likely to be main contenders for the trophy, but lack of match fitness will be a problem.

Gefertigt
Stadium: Faust Park (Capacity: 13,500)
Squad: Zimmermann, Neumann, Fink, Smith, Bohm, Traugott, Fuerst, Marks (c), Osterhagen, Ouster, Fiedler (4-5-1)
History: Here is the big boy. Formerly the best club in Hutt River during the Ipelandic League period. Founded only 32 years ago, they shot up the divisions thanks to a bunch of young stars, taking the crown of best club after Kleinestadt were relegated from Division One.
Season ahead: To most it should be a no-brainer. Best club here. Top of the table. No contest. It's a little harder than that though. Gefertigt have only retained two of their former players, the other having moved on to greener pastures. Should contest for the title, but will probably settle for second

North Bury
Stadium: Bury Lane (Capacity: 1,750 (1,250 seated)
Squad: Anderson, Lees, Ferst, Mills, Lowe, Smith, Alex, Jameson, Kingston, Hughes, Bibi (4-5-1)
History: From the English speaking western side of the islands, Second Division North Bury, founded in 1934, are a club who was dominant in the former Hutt River League, which lasted until 1985. Since entering the Ipelandic Leagues, they have remained near the bottom, not really going anywhere.
Season ahead: In this league, North Bury are a team with potential. Not through players, but the league winning potential of the club. Barring any upsets they should get a 3rd, maybe 4th place finish, which will give them some financing to help them catch up with the top two. Watch this space

Malham United
Stadium: Malham Cave (Capacity: 8,500)
Squad: Barr, Burton, Rothschild, Forster, Brown, Yates, Bürger, Morgan, Griffin (c), Griffiths, Schroeder (4-4-2)
History: From the very north west of Hutt River, where the ground is almost totally covered in snow from November-Mid February, Malham United are a recently formed club, around 25 years ago now, who have enjoyed a decent spell of success culminating in them being promoted to the Second Division three years ago. They have solved the problem of snow and the cold by putting their football ground at the bottom of a large deep cave, where the temperature remains a constant 10 degrees, and is sheltered from rain, wind and snow.
Season ahead: Malham United have found themselves in a position for the last Globe Cup spot, barring any upsets. They have a solid squad, about half of which have been kept over from their last Division Two Season. Good performances from goalkeeper Barr will be a necessity against the top teams.

Ross Village
Stadium: Village Lane (Capacity 2,500 (50 seated)
Squad:
History: The fifth and final Ipelandic League team in Liga 1, Ross Village were due to be relegated into non-league oblivion in the final Ipelandic League season. They are one of the oldest clubs here, founded 55 years ago, and enjoyed a spell of success in the old Hutt River league from 1999-2003. They successfully applied to become a member of the Ipelandic League 7 years ago and have remained in Division Two ever since
Season ahead: A team who have retained most of their squad from Division Two, Ross Village should be looking to challenge for a Globe Cup place without much trouble.

Mosshügel
Stadium: Das Stadion (Capacity: 3,000 (500 seated)
Squad:
History: A team who have spent their entire lives in non-league, not doing that much, only moving up one division since they joined the Noreas Federation North East and Eastern Hutt River Division 1, 25 years ago. Their ground is sheltered from snow and is situated in a mild place.
Season ahead: Mosshugel will be relishing the opportunity to play at a higher level, and should finish comfortably in mid table

Kleinesdorf
Stadium: Stadion auf der Anklagebank (Capacity: 1,200)
Squad:
History: Kleinesdorf's history has been a rollercoaster ride. Starting in the bottom non-league divisions, they had a nice spell of three promotions on the trot, reaching the second highest non-league league after 12 years. Unfortunately, financial troubles hit and the club was on the brink of going bust, with no ground to play in after being locked out of Hügel, their old ground. Saviour came from the company who owned the dockyard in the coastal town, building a stadium in the dockyard itself.
Season ahead: Another team who should be comfortably in mid table, perhaps keeping their backs to the wall breaking into the top half.

South Bury
Stadium: Moore Road (Capacity: 3,000 (All standing))
Squad:
History: South Bury have been overshadowed by arch-rivals North Bury in the past decade, but have been doing fairly well. They enjoyed a 10 year stay in the top division of non-league football until the league was disbanded at the same time the Ipelandic League was.
Season ahead: South Bury are another team that should be comfortably in mid table behind Ross Village in 6th position.

Gehenhöhle
Stadium: Wenigboden (Capacity: 100 (All standing)
Squad:
History: Proper lower league stuff here. Gehenhohle is a collection of 10 or so hamlets with a total population of around 133. They have spent their lives at the very bottom of the non-league pyramid, where they often lose heavily to the rest of the teams in the league and finish bottom with 1 or 2 points to show for themselves. They have won a total of 2 games in their entire history.
Season ahead: Doomed. That is probably the word that describes the season ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished on 0 points by the end.

Väterderstadt
Stadium: Väterderstadt Stadion (Capacity: 2,000)
Squad:
History: A small team from a large town, Vaterderstadt are the oldest continually surving club here, founded 70 years ago, when Vaterderstadt was founded by immigrants. Their moment of glory came in 1997, when they won the Hutt River League.
Season ahead: Probably another mid table team. Might finish in 10th but comfortably above the relegation dogfight.

Neuesiedlung
Stadium: Flusspark (Capacity 1,000 (150 seated)
Squad:
History: Founded only 12 years ago, Neuesiedlung haven't really done much with the years, not moving out of the league they joined, finishing consistently 6th out of 14.
Season ahead: Another mid table team, probably squeaking into the top half.

Inselhauptstadt
Stadium: Gewinner Parken (Capacity: 1,500 (100 seated)
Squad: Fischer, Pfeffer, Farber, Hartmann, Baumgaertner (c), Zimmer, Schweizer, Schweitzer, Busch, Bar, Aachen (5-4-1)
History: Inselhauptstadt is a bit of a strange one. They were the first club on the islands, formed from a local cricket team, it assumed the name of the 'city' it was from, which, if you know German, is the capital of the easternmost island of Insel. Then the year after they disbanded for no real reason. Anyway, they have reformed and were one of the lucky 7 'non-league' teams to enter the Liga 1.
Season ahead: It's going to be tough, let's say that. Local players with no experience in a league like this playing against former Division One and Two sides. Most of the non-league sides are better than them too. Relegation is certainly a real threat.
