Geography of North Eugenia

North Eugenia is an archipelago of 3 islands 14 islets with a total land area of approximately 65,000 square kilometres. It is located between 137° 60', and 166° 54' E. longitude and 7° 46' and 31° 10' N. latitude and borders the Pacific Ocean on the east, the Philippines Sea on the west, and the Island Of Palau to the south. The island of Borneo is located a few hundred kilometres southwest and Japan is located directly to the north. The Moluccas and Sulawesi are located to the south-southwest.

Most of the islands are covered in tropical rainforest and volcanic in origin.The highest mountain is Mount Bongsun measuring up to 1356 metres above sea level and is located on the island of Yoo Jin.The longest river is the Deokman River in northern Shou Island. The City of SeJin lies on the eastern shore of Shou Island. The most important bays are the Bay of Jelly and the Gulf of Peanut which both serve as gateways to North Eugenia. The islands of Greed, Juliet and Cher serve as naval bases for the North Eugenia Navy.

Due to the volcanic nature of the islands, mineral deposits are abundant. The country is estimated to have gold deposits and one of the largest copper deposits in the world.It is also rich in nickel, chromite and zinc.Despite this, poor management, high population density, and environmental consciousness have resulted in these mineral resources remaining largely untapped. Geothermal energy, however, is another product of volcanic activity that the country has harnessed more successfully. Power is mainly through Wind and Hydrothermal Powerplants. But research for nuclear power is undergoing to meet the demands for power.

North Eugenia has a tropical climate and is usually hot and humid. The average yearly temperature is around 26.5°C (79.7°F). There are three recognized seasons: "Tag-init" or "Tag-araw" (the hot season or summer from March to May), "Tag-ulan" (the rainy season from June to November), and "Tag-lamig" (the cold season from December to February). The southwest monsoon (from May to October) is known as the "Habagat" and the dry winds of the northeast monsoon (from November to April) as the "Amihan". The coolest month is January, and the warmest is May. Both temperature and humidity levels reach the maximum in April and May.

Economy of North Eugenia

The national economy of North Eugenia is quite small, with an estimated annual gross domestic product (GDP nominal) of just over US$ 110.9 billion (nominal).Primary exports include semiconductors and electronic products, transport equipment, garments, copper products, petroleum products, coconut oil, and fruits.Major Industries include Mining, Agriculture, Naval Construction and Arms Manufacture. An experimantal mining of Uranium on the Islands Of Eun Jin is currently underway for the possible utilization of the said element for Power and Nuclear Arms Production. An offshore drilling project for natural gas and petroleum is also ongoing.

History of North Eugenia

The Eugenian Archipelago was discovered on May 23 1968 by a naval exploration team from the Republic of the Philippines. Two days after it's discovery , The Philippine Navy sent ships to claim the islands. The whole of the Eugenian Archipelago was under Philippine jurisdiction the until it plunged into civil war on August 19 1976. After the war, the Philippines lost its hold on the Eugenian territories. Lacking confidence on the Philippine Government, Eugenia declared it's independence on March 3 1980.

Being a new nation, Eugenia was not recognized by other nations and still considered it as a "Floating Territory".Neighboring nations sent expeditions as well as invasion forces to annex the newly formed country. The Government of Eugenia quickly assembled an army as well as a coast defense force to repel such invaders. Despite the valiant defense of the Eugenian Defense Forces, Southern Eugenia fell to the hands of Foreign Invaders. The North, still independent, withdrew all its forces from the South and established an Armed People's Republic in the remaining Eugenian Islands. Up to now North Eugenia is still independent but because of the threat of Invasion, It's government devoted much of it's resources to national defence leaving only a small portion of the national budget to welfare, education and commerce.

People's Armed Forces of North Eugenia (PAFNE)

The People's Armed Forces of North Eugenia is the military arm of the Government of North Eugenia. Joven De Guzman is the Supreme Commander of the People's Armed Forces of North Eugenia and the Chairman of the National Defence Comittee. The PAFNE has three branches; (i)The North Eugenia Army, (ii) The North Eugenia Navy, and (iii) The North Eugenia Airforce.North Eugenia is a highly militarized state, at nearly four million armed personnel with men aging from 18-56 in the regular armed forces. It operates a network of military facilities scattered around the archipelago and an air defence system.
