von Hötzendorf smiled as he approached the Polish head of state "A please Herr Piłsudski. And indeed it is time we settle this Bolshevik question. Howe do you wish to proceed already I have 10,000 members of the Heimwehr at my disposal to coordinate with your own troops should you choose to act against the communists." he added as he shook the other mans hand. "This is my new chief of staff Colonel Emil Fey veteran of the imperial army." von Hötzendorf added introducing the other man as well. "Sir!" a Austrian officer rushed in. "What is so important you," "Sir Chancellor Dollfuss is dead sir!"Hötzendorf was shocked as the man stated those words. "Impossible!" he cried. "Thats not all sir intelligence links the attacks to the communists. And sir Operation Savoy is ready." the elder amn then turned away. The Polish meanwhile seemed shocked as well. "What does command say?" he asked "Simply sir be ready." with that the amn saluted and stepped out of the room. Leaving the Polish and Austrians to stew.

Piłsudski was surprised by the sudden news of the Chancellor's death at the hands of the communists. It seemed that the Bolsheviks were dead set on going after the entire world. "Herr von Hötzendorf, this matter needs to be discussed quickly. The red bastards are killing everyone, and we could be next. What's more, we're having to deal with Soviet uprisings in the east, not to mention the sleeper cells they've planted as far from the north-west as here. This threat to independence, to all men's independence... it must be stopped." He then walked off to the meeting room, expecting von Hötzendorf and Fey to follow.

"You will have to come quickly," Piłsudski said, "these days there never seems to be much time."

Moraczewski has earned an honorary position of senator in the Sejm for his efforts to create the Wolne Państwo Gdańsk.

The Netherlands was lucky to have avoided conflict during the war to end all wars. Thanks to the shrewd diplomacy and trading value of the Netherlands, it had managed to remain unscathed. There were exceptions when it had offered refuge to Entente soldiers, and foreign refugee's. With the victory of the Entente it had been shown that Freedom, and Democracy would prevail, and if the world was changing then the Netherlands must too. Queen Wilhelmina would surely make future plans to edit the constitution in accordance to future events. Meanwhile the colonies that the Netherlands held across the globe were silent. The graceful rule of Wilhelmina was a direct, but strong one. In fact as the first female monarch of the Netherlands she had to be strong and courageous during turbulent times such as these. With a defeated Germany on its Eastern border the dutch were wary of its future intentions. However for now it was best to maintain warm relations with the victorious French, and British.

Nanjing, Jiangsu, Republic of China

China was in chaos. Frankly speaking.

With the return of the Republic after the Constitutional Protection War, the Republic simply had no money and manpower left to reunite the nation. Warlords abounded across the country, detaching whole provinces and regions, while nominally recognizing the power of the President and Legislative Yuan.

In effect, the Republic only controlled the southeastern portions of the country, centered on the capital of Nanjing and the great port city of Shanghai. Another enclave existed in Guangdong province, military forces occupying the city of Guangzhou in order to the fend off the ambitions of the Yunnan Clique. Aside from that, everything else outside the effective hands of the central government. Manchuria was swept up by the great communist revolutions of Asia, and the Beiyang government was known to be sympathetic to Russian interests. Xinjiang was effectively controlled by the native population, but its leaders were loyal to the Republic. And Tibet.....the Dalai Lama only announced that he would be taking political leadership of the province and never responded to the follow up questions and requests sent from Nanjing.

In overseas relations, things were not looking great either. Japan had taken the island province of Taiwan and renamed it Taihoku, opporessing the Han Chinese population there and forcing them to conform to Japanese culture. The Europeans and Americans still remained hellbent on carving up the nation, without regard to the protests of the Chinese people.

Even so, the new Republic would persist to survive and reunite the nation. The Kumintang, under the control of President Chiang Kai-shek, had to be reformed. And thus, the president first purged the party of any other leaders who would cause political and military distractions for the Republic while it was in a state of unofficial war against the warlords.

After the purge, the president mustered the military forces along the frontier to begin the Great Northern Expedition, a military campaign to crush the warlords of the central Yangtze valley and unite the Guangzhou enclave to the main body of the Republic in Jiangsu.

Austro-Hungarian border

"Fire!!" the cry went out as word reached the military to begin. Then BOOM!! The sound of the Austrian atillery graced the once tranquil skies over Europe. The bombardment lasted an hour however while the Hungarians hid in their bnkers the Austrian soldiers creeped forward. "Don't stop firing!" Marshal Krobatin ordered as he surveyed his troops progress towartds the Hunagrians shattered lines. Next to him General Károly Bartha was also giving orders to his Hungarian nationalist soldiers. Then the sound of gunfirew began as the allied Austro-Hungarian troops charged into the communist lines and th barrage ceased.

Some two miles away General Baron Wladimir Giesl von Gieslingen surveyed his own troops progress as his own bombardment ended and the first communist defenses fell. He smiled "Well Schuschnigg," he turned looking at the Facist commander next to him "It looks lke alls going to plan." the other man grinned as well. So far so good the General noted as he ordered his staff to relay reports to Vienna. Alls well he smiled.

War Ministry,Vienna

President Seitz watched as the generals and officers tagged the attack on an enormus map. While reports were streamed in and used to update the situation. Minister von Steinstätten manwhile was also dealing the borders. Already old defenses and new ones had taken their place along to Czech and Italian borders to ensure no opposition would be met. The Minister then stepped forward "Everyingthing appaers to be proceeding as planned. As well the Romanians have begun their own offensive in the east." he grinned before returning to the amp. Seitz sighed woith relief. meanwhile Kaltenbrunner was buisy 'interrogating' the communists to find out their plans. Seitz just hoped the others were also sharing his luck as he looked towards Poland and Finalnd.

Warsaw

The Marshal and his staff then nodded as they followed the Polish leader into a nearby room. von Hötzendorf had to wonder how this news was bidding in Vienna then another of his staff whispered in his ear "Sir Savoy has been initiated with Romania." the Marshal nodded keeping it all hush as he then entered the room. Fey to looked on edge he and Dollfuss had been ol;d friends the Marshal reminded himself.

Hungary

The Romanian armies have already made progress. Under their own singing they marched kilometre to kilometre.
While the soldiers of the first regiment have already taken cities like Békéscsaba and Szeged and only lost 2600, the second has already lost approximately 3200 soldiers. General Ion Antonescu accompanies the 2nd regiment. They have reached the city of Debrecen, the second biggest city of Hungary, which lies 30kilometres west of the Romanian border.

Image

Debrecen is now under artillery fire and expected to surrender within less than one week. Antonescu didn't want to simply overrun the city as this would cause a massive number of civilian victims. 10.000 soldiers of the first regiment are now on their way to Miskolc.

The big losses are reasoned with the fast and less careful encroachment.

Hungary

Sgt. Franz Krutz and his men charged througgh the streets of some god for saken town outside Gyor. BANG!BANG! The sound of gun fire filled the air. In only a few hours had the border troops fallen back leaving behind much of their supplies and weapons. And many more defected swellling the natiuonalist ranks. "Take cover!" a man screamed as a grenade blew up a building nearby. KA_BOOM! The old structure soon crumbled killing whatever poor souls inside it. Up ahead meanwhile the nationalist had set up a machine gun nest to mop up the red troops that occupied the main street. "Keep moving lads!" Franz barked as he and his men pushed forward then Bang!Bang!! One of his men hit the dirt. "Sniper! he cried out ducking behind a bullet riddled car. He then took out his rifle "Bang!Bang! He fired several rounds into a house were the shots had emerged. As he reloaded he had to wonder what the brass was up to.

Marshal von Krobatin surveyed the numerous dead communist troops that had held the small town of Őriszentpéter on the border. it had fallen with a few hours. And now that fighting was a few kilometers ahead. "Report Colonel?" he barked as the officer scurried fourth "At the moment sir our troops are making excellent drives into the Transdanubian provinces. General von Gieslingens men are outside the amin city of Gyor and our own troops should be at Szombathely in afew days.Casualties meanwhile have been difficult to count also sir there are pcommunist partisans at work in the country side. We've stamped out though much of the regulkar army but these guerrilas are like weeds refusing to back down. Oh and General Bartha's Hungarians have begun to assist our men in the drive for Szombathely as well." the Marshal nodded "As for these partisans Colonel inform our commanders that these troops if they do not were a uniform are to be shot as they are acting against the Geneva Convention." he noted before walking off to survey the next town.

Near the small city of Tiszaszederkény, Hungary, 1919

The main front was the Tisza river. Except for Debrecen everything behind it had been conquered, but now it seemed as if there was no progress anymore. The Romanians built defense fortifications all over the Tisza-line. The Hungarians should try to make their move now, they woul fail hard.

General Ion Antonescu looked at the big map and smiled. Everything went as planned and not only that. The 10.000 troops coming from the south should help in Debrecen now and cut off the supplies. "So I heard our King is visiting the troops. Where will he attend?", asked Antonescu quietly and calm. His assistant wanted to answer, but some bombers flew other their tent and disturbed him. As they were gone the assistant continued. "He will he visit the troops in Debrecen and encourage them, afterwards he will take over the command of one part of the first regiment."

Antonescu sighed and nodded. "Right, he informed me about that. The first regiment will split up into two groups soon and he will take over the group marching towards Budapest. Right right. You can leave for now, inform all leading officers about all changes."

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Debrecena, Hungary

King Ferdinand I visited the troops before Debrecen personally with 20 of the royal guards.
He talked to a soldier who lost his father and his brothers during a short firefight with the Hungarians.
Afterwards he decorated him and some others for their good work.

Image

Right after the decoration he ate lunch with the soldiers and drove to his camp near the city of Szentes.
The picture of him and the soldiers was published in almost every Romanian newspaper and the people celebrate their King.
The euphoria regarding the Iron Guard decreases.

Gyor,Hungary

"Forward you bastards forward!" Cpt.Hausser barked as the troops charged through the burned out suburbs of the once great city. It had become a stronghold. meanhile the sound of artillery still echoed and sometimes reality set in as BOOM!! Hausser ducked as the shell exploded nearby sending two soldiers to their deaths. As he looked over he only saw the burning remains of half a man. "C'mon!" he cried as the troops charged ever deeper then RATATATATAT!!!!!! A machine gun opened up on the squad. Four men hit the dirt "Luetendt!" Hausser ordered as his subordinate checked one of the men he shook his head. Hausser bent his head in sorrow. Then KA-BOOM!! The building were the shots came from expolded. The blast engulfed two nearby buildings to add. then behind them Hausser heard something. ZROOMM!! Then he saw it an armoured car.

As the veichle adorned with Austrian military symbols all about it sped forward it's machinegun spraying as it went along Hausser had to laugh. "See lads we aren't screwed yet! Now c'mon lets give those red bastards hell!!" he barked. As they followed the mobile machinegun nest they saw how powerful it was as dead red troops covered the streets. Hausser and his men would move along for hours following the car and mopping up what resistance had survived it's carnage. Then they linked up with other squads in the area. "Captain." a weary major stepped forward saluting he wore Hungarian uniform a nationalist Hausser reminded himself "Major what can you report?" Hausser demanded "At the moment sir the reds are falkling back. As well there are reports that a nationalist force has launched an assualt to the rear. if so Gyor is cut off. The reds can't hold on forever." he grinned "Lets hope your right now forward!" hausser cried as the men surged forward into the jaws of hell.

Mussolini was smiling at his desk. Yesterday, Italy was a tranquil state reforming...Today, It was going to be an economic power.

" And nobody will say I lied about making this nation great! Petroil! In all Lybia!!! " He repeated, reading the paper. Way too much even for Italy, he would probably sell some to pull back some red government account. He could finally make the tank march and the planes fly properly.

Now, all he needed was maybe a target, it was time to conquer something and show Italian's mighty reformed military. But who?

General Antonescu smiled. The Hungarians were stupid and ran directly into the Romanian defense lines. It was a massacre, but their own fault.
So far they've made 7.800 prisoners, all brought to Romania to work in POW camps.
"General Antonescu, we received message from Miskolc. The Hungarians face the same situation they do in Debrecen and will surrender within hours. Unfortunately, lieutenant colonel Artur Phleps died during the offensive."

Antonescu sighed. Phleps was a friend and member of the Iron Guard. "Yes, okay. Set an ultimatum to Miskolc and Debrecen. If they don't surrender within 12 hours we will fall in. We've played enough. Glory to Romania, my friend!"

King Ferdinand I was happy. In the last few days his regiment has made serious progress, even though Partisans had launched some serious attacks on them. They were only 10 kilometres before Kiskunhalas and would than turn to Budapest. From now on they had to face better defenses, maybe better troops and their own supplies were getting badder too. The next weeks were going to be like hell.

Marshal von Hötzendorf turned to the Polish leader "Actually sir only Dollfuss is dead Herr Renner is alive and the Austrian nation lives. As well we have initiated Operation Savoy, the invasion of Soviet Hungary. The nation is to be divided between ourselves and Romania. And the empire will be reborn. As well in regards to those Bolshevik bastards I suggest we launch an assault directed at the Baltic and Belarus. Belarus you could make a puppet as for the Baltic I'm certain you'll wish to reunite with Lithuania. However the assault sir will have to be planned to the max. At the moment the Finns are giving the commies hell and we should follow their lead. I believe also that the ethnic Germans in the Baltic will undoutably flock to our cause.

Now the assault should be a pincer movement. I will attempt to send for rienfocements from Hungary or Vienna once the conflict there has ended. After all the Heimnwehr is enormus and Herr Fey," he nodded to his chief of staff "Can easilly secure their loyalty. The assault would again be directed to Belarus and the Baltics. I propose the Austrians spearhead any attack on the Baltics. Your troops in conjucture with our will march into belarus. the ultimate intention with the utter conquest of the Baltic my troops will swoop south towards Minsk as you troops will aslo do. With the capitals fall the Soviet puppets there will be ousted and you may do as you see fit." von Hötzendorf finished with a smile.

Gyor,Hungary

General von Gieslingen looked about the charrewd remains of the city. It's fall had been a brilliant one. Thanks to the use of Armoured cars the Hungarians had quickly shrunk back to the citadel which had been bombed to hell by the Austrian gunnery positions. He smiled over 1,900 communist prisoners of the four thousand defenders. Next to himself stood the Hungarian commanders Bartha and Belitska. The assault by Belitska on the cities rear had utterly crushed resistance. Meanwhile only three hundred twenty Austrians had been killed a thousand wounded and three hundred Hungarian nationalists dead and a few thousand wounded. Meanwhiloe the army was pushing ever forward as with gyors fall so to had the entire region.

Already reports of mass defections had come in. And to the south Krobatin had taken Pécs but the Hungarian defensive lines along Mecsek refused to buckle. "Sir the Romanians are closing in on Budapest." a staff officer Captain Lothar Rendulic stepped forward. "Indeed they have."von Gieslingen noted. "Alright get the men ready." he ordered the officer whom then walked off to fufill the generals orders.Von Gieslingen Looked off towards the east it would be a long march he noted.

Mecsek, Hungary

Field Marshal von Krobatin looked off in the distance towrds the mountain pass. His troops had been barricaded several times thanks to damn partisan explosives. Now as they finally exited this hell hole he was grateful to be rid of the scenary. At the same time though the bastards had also bbuilt a ring of defenses that encircled the remaining passes not much longer he grinned. KA-BOOM! That wa sa common sound in the area as the Austrian artillery hammered these bastions.Meanwhile to the north von Gieslingen had taken that god foresaken city called Gyor. And also the entire enemy line there had suffered immense casulaties. "Sir a report command is deploying another force to reinforce our own position." the Marshals aide proclaimed. "Whoms leading the assault and how many of them?" Krobatin demanded eagerly. "It's General Viktor Dankl von Krasnik sir and he has 7,000 regulars and 6,000 Heimwehr under him." Krobatin grinned "Smart choice the old fox did a lot of damage during the war. He has a rythhem he does. Cautioius man but good." "It says here sir he will relieve us in the south and we are to proceed to the danube. Signed the Minister of war himself." Krobatin nodded before looking back at the remains of that god foresaken valley "Finally we won't by stuck in these pits." he grinned anxiously.

Germany declares war on Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia!

Image
German Reichswehr on the march outside the city of Konigsburg on their way to Lithuania, with supporters of Hitler flying the banner of his old party. The German government does not condone the use of that flag eitherway.

BERLIN -- This morning, January 27, 1919, the German armed forces crossed into Lithuania, following a fire-laden speech by Adolf Hitler on how the Baltic States were conspiring with the Iron Guards and Bolsheviks, it was also mandated to establish a German protection of the Baltic States in case of Soviet attack. Hitler stated that this was not a sign of aggression to her ally Poland, Austria, or even France. Hitler stated that Russia was to be kept in check, and by invading the Baltics, it would be certain that Bolshevism could be contained. Hitler even mentioned a promise that Wilno territory will be mandated to Poland due to their ethnic claims on the province, and the rest will be organized as the German government sees to be fit.

Image
Chancellor Adolf Hitler speaking

Kaiser Wilhelm III commented that the German people are behind the invasion and he has even made a telegraph to various local countries to ensure they do not think Germany is feinting, ready to attack them.

In other news, Germany has fortified the Sudetenland border after Czechoslovakia's angry refusal to discuss the treatment of Sudeten Germans, and their condemnation of the extermination of communism. Hitler is expected to make contact with Chancellor Renner of Austria and the Polish leader to discuss... Czechoslovakia.

This is Radio Berlin, signing off.

Leader of the Peoples Party, Alexandru Averescu will be the candidate for his party. He is Ministers of Foreign Affairs at the moment and was a Marshal during the first World War. Some of the battles he commanded were seen as impressive in public opinion. He is a loyal monarchist and friend of the King. Further, he has a bad opinion about the right-wing parties.

Image

Ion I.C. Bratianu, a learned engineer, is leader of the National Liberal Party, which provides the present Prime Minister. King Ferdinand I decided to join the First World war under his influence. Bratianu has a lot political experience and is known as a friend of the Entente.

Image

Iuliu Maniu is leader of the Romanian National Party and sworn enemy of the communists. He doesn't sympathize with the western powers. Unlike the rest of the candidates Maniu has never served for military.

Image

General Ion Antonescu is one of the secret favorites for the elections. He candidates for the famous Iron Guard, who has been popular in recent surveys. He is a fascist without a doubt. Antonescu appeals on the honor and love for the motherland of the Romanians, which actually works very good. His military actions in World War I and the current Hungarian-Romanian war have made him popular in public too.

Germany's declaration of war against Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia gave the soldiers a morale boost.
The Austrian victories have been applauded too.

Populist College, Capital of Philedelphia

The speaker of the College quiet'd the crowd as he pronounced the canidates who would be victorious. The populist college counted the popular vote and the vote of 2 votes from the state governments in order to equalize the vote. .

Speaker of the Populist Congress " Im proud to announce the new President of the United States of America, Albert Smith of the Socialist Party"

The president came up to the stage to meet the Chief Justice

The oath of office was to be administered.

The chief justice held up a bible as the future president held up his right

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help Me God"

after that the crowd clapped wildly as The president headed down to a horde of people.

Reports from Hungary!!!

The fall of the westren Transdanubian provinces came with pride as the Austrian military and Hungarian nationalist forces delivered a beating on the Marxist puppets. Minister of War-Colonel General Rudolf Stöger-Steiner von Steinstätten staed that with the combined sucsesses of the Austrian and Romanian nations to liberate the Hungarian people from tyranny a new and more stable Europe will emerge. Though he couldn't divulged more information in order to protect our troops he did stae he believes that Budapest will fall. To th south as well Field Marshal von Krobatins troops have been fighting a hard pressed assault in the valleys there.

War Ministry, Vienna

Minister von Steinstätten smiled as the reports of hius mens sucsess flowed fourth. Even Renner seemed more proud then usual. Meanwhile he had to wonder if the big land grab against the communist oriented states would cause an outbreak of fresh hosilities. Then there was Dollfuss since the mans death the damn Fascists had been reunning with their heads cut off. His sucsessor Starhemberg was doing well. The Heimwehr seemed to be operating at peak efficency under the youthful but obviously intelligent Kurt Schuschnigg whom had already led his troops to severa stunning victories. von Steinstätten did however how long the Hungarians would face them. Though the north was shattered and the road to Budapest was wide open Hungarian resistance in the south refused to budge and already rumors taht the Kun giovernemnt ha dfled were running rampant. He looked back at the map and watched the units every so gradualy move closer and closer by this rate Budapest would be surrounded soon.

Hungary 1919

Romanias forces had marched to the cities of Vác, Cegléd and Jászberény. All three had been captured and fortified in a few hours.
In whole Romania the army and its victories are celebrated like a national holiday.
In school the children hear Propaganda and learn about the "communist dogs who can't even read".

After Debrecen surrendered the city of Miskolc had no option but to surrender too.
Around 10.000 prisoners have been made, a few citizens too. General Antonescu stated they "Had attacked our forces as they marched into the town. They were armed with knifes and some had guns." Further he stated that the Hungarian people would be liberated too.
The army is expected to attack when the Austrians arrive.

We need only begin planning then, Herr von Hötzendorf, and Belarus will fall. All the true Polish guns are at your side." To Chancellor Adolf Hitler of Germany:

News has come to Poland of your announcement of Germany's invasion of Lithuania, with particular reference to your promise of Wilno to be mandated to us. We would like to thank you for this announcement, as this will be one great step towards restoring the Commonwealth to as much as its former glory as possible. However, Belarus and Ukraine remain out of our grasp as of current.

The Polish government is also writing to you because the letter we had sent concerning an alliance between our two nations has not been replied to. Field Marshal von Hötzendorf smiled as Piłsudski finished. "My friend a better question is how many guns can you muster? If we are to sucseed though we should also prepare a contingencty should how do the Americans put it 'goes south'. I suggest you prepare your nation. Call up what you view necessary. As for the contingency I suggest long defensive lines streching acrosss the border from Święciany to Stanisławów. This should act as a main barrier against the Soviets. As well other lines should be dug until Warsaw which may act as your last line of defense my friend." with that the Marshal then called for a map and Fey brought it forward. Beckoning to the Polish leader Hötzendorf he already had begun to plan possible scenarios. Oh the possibilities he thought.

Hungary

General Viktor Dankl von Krasnik the latest beseiger of theese mountains was not intimidated despite his own ill-healt many acknowledged him as a through and through soldier. Like his predecessor he would bombard the enemy defenses to dust. Looking through his binoculars he had to admire the Hungarians tenacity. Despite two days of continous shelling they held on. He had to wonder how much longer they could old out. Then KA-BOOM!!!!!!! He and the other officers looked towards the edge of the defenses "That wasn't ours was it?" an officer asked. "No it wasn't." the general responded as the defenses now erupted fire like a volcano. "Did we hit an ammo dump?" anoher questioned. Then "Sir! Sir!" a cavalryman soon rode forward "what is it Corporal?" von Krasnik demanded turning away "Sir the Hungarians they blew themselves up!" the group wa stunned as they heard the news. Then the man informed them of how the commander had rather then surrender as his men demanded barricaded himself in the ammo dump and blew himself an the mutineers sky high. "All for a fort!" an officer shockingly demanded "How did you find this out? "Some of the men escaped when the commander said he would rather destroy themn all." the cavalry man replied. Von Krasnik looked off towrds the burning remains "Send in the cleanup squads and the medics." he ordered.

RATATATATAT!!! all across the main Hungarian lines the sound of machinegun fire erupted as the Austrians entered Central Hungary. This was the enmenies last stand as the papers so put it. the Heimwehr troops buckled down as they returned fire in the darkness hiding behind burning building swhile the engineers dug hastiuly prepared trenches. Bang!Bang! The sound rang out ever last second. "Where are those damn Howitzers!" veteran soldier Private Frederich Werner demanded as he huddled behind a barn. it was the same thing all around him except for the bastards in the mud he noted. Then "Frderich look!" another man yelled pointing as the small armoured car bounced forwrd bullets richocheing off it's hull. "Hah!" Ferderich laughed heartily as the little wonder machine ped up and down the line it's machine gun spraawing and covering the infantry as it went.

Hitler frowned at the British response. Germany had been slacking? They had recieved their January supply of the Versailles Treaty reparations already. What does Britain want more from them? He frowned and said, "Perhaps my dreams of allying with Britain were misguided at best, it is obvious the new British leadership is hostile." He turned to the Kaiser and said, "What do you say, sir?" The Kaiser frowned and said, "I had believed Britain was a friend of Germany after this bloody conflict, but it doesn't seem that way anymore."

He penned a response personally.

To: King Alexander I Windsor
From: Kaiser Wilhelm III von Preußen

The Germans are offended that you insist we have "slacked" on our payments. We shipped January's reparations in December 1918, in accordance to the Treaty of Versailles diktat. To insist we have done otherwise is crass and offensive.

Signed,
Wilhelm III

Warsaw

"We have a stock recruitment message for the Armed Forces that we can release," Piłsudski said, "Tens of thousands are available right now, and releasing that message will gain us many more with training." He looked at the map Fey had brought the Field Marshal and examined it himself. He then began to point at specific areas of the map's depiction of Poland. "We can place extra fortifications dotted around vulnerable areas of the Belarusian border, as well as digging defence lines."

Polish Government wrote:This is an open call for all fighting men and servicewomen of Poland to enlist in the Armed Forces. The Bolsheviks and their evil have been harassing our nation since our independence, threatening the freedom that all the people of Poland share. If we are to hold back the communist threat, we must all act soon to defend Poland from its fearsome influence. Join together our now allies in Austria and take not only a step to remove the influence of Bolshevism from this world, but also help restore the greatness this nation once had.

Around 40000 volunteers sign up to the Polish Armed Forces in the first few days: these volunteers, and any more who come along, will be trained while some of the active ~50000 personnel will be deployed to dig the defence lines.
