and Mat SMith tries to kill a man trying to redeem his life.... WTF?!?!

No one, apart from the caveman whose head he attempted to bash in because it was in his way, the Ice Warriors he killed with a heat ray, the Ogron who was in his way/attempting to kill him (the first is what happened in the episode, the second what was meant to happen), Goth (in an absolutely brutal fight) and at least one guy who he managed to trick into committing suicide.

A good few silence. Three I think, directly. The dude he duelled at Christmas doesn't really count since it's a duel for honour.

Not the best. I mean, it went downhill when Amy opened her mouth, and that was the little intro thingy so we were in a bad way right at the start. Then the cubes came and we were like "yeah, this is awesome and cool and amazing and awesome" and then we were like "no it isn't". There were just so many little holes. And Amy speaking. And basically various combinations of the two. Not good. Not good at all.

I quite liked the episode. Well, liked is probably a bit strong. It certainly wasn't as bad as everyone made out. It was quite good for just a goofy little episode.

Still, it is true that the current Doctor is acting a but out of character. I suspect that there's a reason for that, and that Oswin is somehow involved.

Your video is invalid. One of the clips is of the Doctor shrinkating Kamelion, which was actually an act of mercy. Kamelion was weak-willed, and open to influence by, among others, the Master, and so begged to be killed instead of constantly being a pressure on the Doctor.

It is literally the only episode of the show I've seen that I actively dislike. Unless there's one that's so bad I've just blocked out the memory of it.

I do not understand how it's possible for any sane being to not think The Next Doctor was at the very least the worst episode of NuWho, and possibly the worst of all time.

Night Terrors was bad, yes, but nowhere near as abysmally catastrophic as The Next Doctor.

Night Terrors wasn't necessarily bad. It wasn't good, but at least it wasn't The Next Doctor, nor indeed was it any of the finales.

I wish they would do a shtick eventually where they encounter a weapon like a lightsaber, and the Doctor just destroys it with his screwdriver after shrugging.
"Quod Vult, Valde Valt"

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

Each and every Doctor has a varying range of pacifism.

For example, the Sixth Doctor was basically an action hero with a silly coat, one-liners and all. The Eleventh has never been as merciful as the Tenth - who himself never really was.

Hmm...

I thought I remembered watching this series and noticing him doing something to wood and thinking "Hey, he can't do that."

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised - these past two have been awful.

Which is a lot less than I would expect from Whithouse and Chibnall.
