No, just don't do it in the future. Sorry for the slow start. What can I say? I'm a writer/actor by training, and I get a little caught up in exposition. There'll be plenty of action once you're at the keep.

I should have been more clear on equipment. You'll have to pay out of pocket for armor and weapons, but I want you to assume you already have them, including the bard's instrument. You wouldn't be able to find stuff like that in a town this small. The local store will have a few mundane items for sale.

Yeah, I know, I was actually acknowledging that so my actual response to your post starts when i address him. (of course he did, how else would I call him by his name?) I just backtracked through time to catch up my characters actions. Thought that was how it was done. I'm a little confused on that.

One thing to think about: with the exception of the constable (who starts off as indifferent), the townspeople have a default attitude toward you all of "unfriendly", and it would take a successful diplomacy check to get them to indifferent.

Re: time

It's important to note that Iva lacks pretty much any concept of time, so if she thinks that two hours have passed it's more likely to be 20 minutes or 10 hours than it is two hours. She's a whiner and likes her comforts, so if she thinks something is too heavy or is taking too long then it probably isn't.

Also she's afraid of orcs and becomes a bit of a klutz when nervous.

It's been less than 15 minutes since you got to the inn, and an hour or two since you started to arrive in town. It's high summer at a latitude roughly equivalent to Southern New England or the South of France. You still have 5-6 hours of daylight. It's warm but not hot, although even in summer nights can be cool.

maybe diplomacy? you aren't strictly lying, I think. anyway, a check would help. I have several possible responses, and an official check would wittle them down.
