Updated coëfficients are now available.

The entry limits for the next season of UICA competition will be as follows:
Champions’ Cup 43: The number of teams allowed is determined according to association coëfficients, with the following distribution:
  • Associations ranked 1–3 (Capitalizt SLANI, Valladares, and Polar Islandstates) are allowed to enter four teams.
  • Associations ranked 4–6 (Jasĭyun, The Pazhujeb Islands, and Aguazul) are allowed to enter three teams.
  • Associations ranked 7–28 (Astograth, Valanora, Zarbli, Whirl Islands, Cafundéu, Osarius, West Zirconia, Estresse Intenso, The Babbage Islands, Darmen, Krytenia, Vilita, Pasarga, Queer Poco el Mono Ara, Turori, Carmadin, Unified Falcon, LAPFL Federation, Eastfield Lodge, Civil Citizenry, Taeshan, United Gordonopia) are allowed to enter two teams.
  • Associations ranked 29 and below, and unranked associations, are allowed to enter one team.
  • Special considerations:
    • Firewood City is assured a place as the title holder. If it fails to qualify for one of Osarius’s two places, it will receive an additional place.
    • Élite League: Has seven places. Capitalizt SLANI must enter at least three teams, and Jasĭyun at least two.
    • V-League: Has four places, which must be filled by teams from at least two separate associations.
Globe Cup 40: Every association is allowed to enter three teams. Multiassociational leagues may enter six teams, of which no more than four may be from the same association.
Series B Champions’ Cup 40: Every association is allowed to enter four teams. Multiassociational leagues may enter eight teams, of which no more than six may be from the same association.

The deadline for entry to Champions’ Cup 43 and Series B Champions’ Cup 40 is tentatively set for Sunday, 2012-10-07.

UICA Partner bidding
Bidding is now open for two UICA Partner spots: one for seasons 44–49, which carries with it primary sponsorship of the Globe Cup, and one for sesaons 44–51, which carries with it primary sponsorship of the Super Cup. Bidding will close at the start of Globe Cup 40. The following is required to submit a bid:

  • The name of the bidding company or product, preferably a single word or acronym.
  • The company or product’s wordmark, as it would appear in the sponsorship logo. This wordmark must be black on a transparent (or white) background, in SVG or PNG format if possible, and as large as possible, but must be distinguishable at the size at which it will ultimately be used. If the wordmark should merely be the name set in a particular typeface, please specify the typeface.
Bids should be posted in this thread. A single company may bid for both spots. Globo Multimedia and Banco Econômico have declined to renew their sponsorship of the Globe Cup, but renewal of the current contract with AlfaCredit will be considered. Companies from Paripana, Turori, and Vilita are ineligible to bid.

As the Globe Cup’s two primary sponsors will be replaced by a single company, bringing it in line with the other competitions, the fifth UICA Partner position, which will no longer be tied to any particular competition, will be used to promote UICA’s own campaigns during seasons 44 and 45. Bids for this position will be accepted at a later date.

Astograthian dairy giants YOGUTZ submit their bid to become UICA partner and primary sponsor of either the Globe Cup or the Super Cup. YOGUTZ are the single largest exporters of dairy products in Astograth and Rushmore - though this last claim is disputed by certain ChocoMilk-funded studies and statistics. YOGUTZ produces more than just delicious yoghurt, with a wide range of products that also include milk (and chocolate milk!), cheese, fruit juice, pastries and butter, all of which are held to strict standards of quality, freshness, healthiness and scrumptiousness. They are Royal Warrant holders of the Astograthian Royal Family, supplying Grand Duke Lastur with all the aforementioned products, and sponsor a number of football teams including the successful Echegoyan FC of the Astograthian First Division. Naturally, YOGUTZ would provide their products for all UICA official events as part of a specialised catering service. In short, it is YOGUTZ's firm belief that becoming a UICA partner would be an enormous benefit for both parts.

Celeron General Aeronautics would like to submit an official bid to become a UICA partner and the sponsor of the Globe Cup or Super Cup. Celeron is a leader in commercial aeronautical design, and has recently commenced export to foreign nations with the Celeron E100 jetliner. Celeron is the dominant commercial aircraft manufacturer in United Gordonopia, and currently has contracts with several airlines around the world. As part of a concerted effort to increase market share in anticipation of upcoming airliners, Celeron feels that a partnership with an organization such as UICA would be mutually beneficial.

In exchange for the sponsorship opportunity, Celeron would be able to provide free or reduced-cost air travel on Union Gordonopia Airlines, which uses Celeron aircraft. Union Gordonopia is a part of the Imperial Gordonopia Corporation, a conglomerate that includes a number of Gordonopian state-owned corporations, including Celeron. For the Super Cup, this would be free first-class travel for all participants. For the Globe Cup, this would be reduced-fee business-class travel for rounds up to the knockout stage, and reduced-fee first-class during the knockout stage.

Celeron already has experience as a sponsor in the sporting world. Currently, Celeron sponsors both Iturributa United, a perennial UICA contender from Iturributa, a FC Deska, the highest ranked Gordonopian club. UICA sponsorship would allow Celeron to take its support for the sport to the next level.
If you ever have an RPing question, please TG me about it.

With the Rushmore Games occupying Aelsh attention, Aguazul has ruthlessly commandeered agreed to run Cygnus Cup 17. As such, the final will return to Aguazul; it will be held in Estadio Conabora, San Pablo (capacity 50,000).

Procedural notes: The entries of Iona Spaceport Defenders (Unified Falcon) and New Oslo United (Westros) were rejected due to a lack of scorinated cup finals. The entry of Tower 3 (Thaulandi) was rejected due to it not winning a cup final.)

Kinitar Premier Division
Season 2 Preview

After a hugely successful first season, the Kinitar league was showcased worldwide with some top players having the chance to show off their talent to a global audience. Viewers saw some skilful play, stunning goals and the breaking of every record the league could think of (the fact that this happened in season one is entirely coincidential). And now, the league returns for its second season, which promises to be even better and more dramatic than the last. Will Mi'ato retain their early grip of Kinitar football? Can Luka Sabčot's City snatch the title from them? Who's staying up, who's going down? There's only one way to find out. Let's take a look at the twenty teams who'll be competing for glory over the coming months, and let's find out how likely they are to get it.

1. Maja
ImageImageImage
Last season: 4th
Home stadium: Stadion Viteanii Revolusii, Litora (62,250)
They were always pushing for the top spots last season, and a strong defensive line backed up by national goalkeeper Costin Petran means they're likely to do it again. Also watch out for Emil Pročazka to put in a lethal cross or two. They're a very good side, with an array of talent throughout their lineup, but they're not extraordinary. A stable financial balance is reflected by a lack of summer activity - they don't really need to bring players in or out of last year's squad, and I think it'll serve them well.
Prediction: 3rd

Club Ajbental
ImageImageImage
Last season: 16th
Home stadium: Stadion "Liberta", Ajbental (31,630)
Their safety was only confirmed on the final day of last season. Although they were out of the bottom three for the most part, they only just had enough in them to get over the line. Without the money to reinvest in the squad, they're in for another season of struggling, but I think they'll survive - only just - on the basis of there being three worse teams in the league.
Prediction: 17th

Avnani Athletic
ImageImageImage
Last season: 6th
Home stadium: Parc Semnal, Avnani (41,200)
Avnani were not widely tipped to do well last season, but surprised their critics with their brand of direct, imposing football which made life trouble for many an opposing team. They'll be looking to carry out a similar plan this season, but they don't really seem to have a plan B which means they struggle against top clubs. They're a dark horse for a UICA spot, but I can't see it happening.
Prediction: 8th

Chyri
ImageImageImage
Last season: 11th
Home stadium: Stadion nasiyonala Chyr autonome, Chyr (53,810)
11th place was a huge disappointment for this Chyri team in the inaugural Premier Division season. With the loss of Paolo Naoumov, they've been forced to take a step back and rebuild, but they have done so admirably well, reinforcing their side with some talented young players from their own region. They remain almost universally disliked by fans in the Kinitar mainland, and have done well to play their normal style of football despite this.
Prediction: 6th

AFC Damaciu
ImageImageImage
Last season: 15th
Home stadium: Arena Damacii, Damaciu (38,370)
A hugely disappointing first season has not deterred Damaciu, and they immediately dipped into the transfer market, Gordon du-Lusavik of the Free Swiss States becoming the first foreign player to sign for a Kinitar club. They have an experienced captain in Sebastien Sykora, and play with some flair which is sure to get them a much better finish this time around.
Prediction: 10th

Dinamo Leninberg
ImageImageImage
Last season: 2nd, B-League (promoted)
Home stadium: Arena V. I. Lenin, Leninberg (37,100)
They were promoted from the B-League with two games to spare, eventually only missing out on the title by virtue of goals scored. However, their squad has very limited depth and it's hard to see them coping should a couple of key players get injured. Life in the Premier Division is going to be very tough for them, and I can't see them surviving it.
Prediction: 19th, relegated

Dinamo Paleu
ImageImageImage
Last season: 9th
Home stadium: Stadion "Dinamo", Paleu (43,360)
Paleu's first season rather stagnated in the end, finishing in a tepid mid-table outcome - they were never in any danger of relegation, but were always well away from a UICA challenge. I can see more of the same this time round, they're just painfully average and a bit boring, with no way of making a difference.
Prediction: 11th

Dřukahir
ImageImageImage
Last season: 1st, B-League (promoted)
Home stadium: Arena Coezeni, Dřukahir (29,400)
After winning the B-League and reaching the group stage of the SBCC, Dřukahir fans are going to be brought down to earth with a bump. They carried a lot of luck last season, but with a paper-thin squad and no opportunities to develop the team, it's looking like a long and ultimately fruitless season for the second tier champions. They'll fight bravely, but...
Prediction: 20th, relegated

Fojvalva Dragons
ImageImageImage
Last season: 12th
Home stadium: The Dragons' Lair, Fojvalva (36,940)
Anything could happen to this team over the coming season. They're good enough to avoid a relegation battle and I don't think they're going to get dragged into one, but they're not really good enough to bother the big boys. They should be comfortably safe - they look calm on the ball and they don't panic when in trouble, and that should get them through the season alright.
Prediction: 15th

Inovita
ImageImageImage
Last season: 13th
Home stadium: Parc Četatii, Inovita (47,200)
A promising start for Inovita gradually faded away until they settled in mid-table, where they would remain until the end of the season. They don't have the players to maintain a strong and stable top-half challenge, and the back end of last season was plagued by injury and fitness problems. I can't see that changing - Inovita have a lot of work to do.
Prediction: 13th

Junulara Fojvalva
ImageImageImage
Last season: 7th
Home stadium: Stadion Junularii, Fojvalva (32,740)
Seventh place was an incredible finish for Junulara with a tight budget and a limited squad. They needed some luck to get themselves there, but they still did what they needed to in the end, and there are rumours of a UICA challenge this season. However, they've had to cut the budget, and I can see them slowly regressing to mid-table.
Prediction: 12th

Kasmenai Phoenix
ImageImageImage
Last season: 3rd, B-League (promoted via playoffs)
Home stadium: Ter Komunada, Kasmenai (24,000)
Kasmenai have shown just how a recently promoted team should prepare for life in the top tier. They've cut the deadwood, brought in some new talent and have set themselves up to stay in the division. They were the highest goalscorers in last year's B-League and they've still got the attacking potency which should mean they are able to survive. They've got enough in them to escape the drop. And, uh, whoever designed that away kit should be taken out and shot.
Prediction: 16th

Litora United
ImageImageImage
Last season: 2nd
Home stadium: Stadion Munisipaliya, Litora (47,500)
After an astonishing first season in which they shoehorned their way into the top two, between the Mi'ato clubs, Litora seem to have just run out of money. The sale of talented youngster Milan Beskid to Basil AC allowed them to stave off the prospect of administration, but you can't help feeling that money is going to haunt this club for some time yet. Top four would be incredibly generous to them.
Prediction: 5th

Mi'ato
ImageImageImage
Last season: Champions
Home stadium: Stadion "Lumar Beqiri", Mi'ato (67,260)
What a season it was for Mi'ato. Thanks to the goals of Čyran Malpomir, they grabbed a stunning double (becoming, so far, the only Kinitar club to ever win a trophy). But the goals also came from all areas of the field as Mi'ato swept aside all comers. It's going to be tough for them to retain their crown, and I just feel that they haven't quite done enough over the close season.
Prediction: 2nd

Mi'ato City
ImageImageImage
Last season: 3rd
Home stadium: Stadion Orašii, Mi'ato (69,000)
City had to do something. A 3-0 reverse in the cross-capital derby in the penultimate week of the season gifted their bitter rivals the title, followed up with a 1-0 defeat in the same fixture, which happened to be a cup final. Manager Andel Rieger has promised better this season, and with an attacking formation, and a front three of Sabčot, Mihalcič and new signing Royce, they are the new force to be reckoned with in the Premier Division.
Prediction: 1st, champions

Ščela Rapide
ImageImageImage
Last season: 17th
Home stadium: Parc Rapidii, Ščela (30,620)
After a season spent languishing in the relegation zone, they saved themselves on the last day of the season with a dramatic win over Serenberg that sent Čilibeni down instead. They're looking at another struggle to stay up this season - their defence is too easily breached and they offer very little attacking threat. Sadly, miracles don't happen twice.
Prediction: 18th, relegated

Spartak Rexitova
ImageImageImage
Last season: 10th
Home stadium: Arena "Spartak", Rexitova (38,400)
Spartak are yet another mid-table team who aren't really going to be troubling either end of the table come the end of the season. They've got a solid but not spectacular defence, and they can score goals when it matters, so there's little chance of them going down, but a top four spot remains just a pipe dream for Spartak fans.
Prediction: 14th

FC Serenberg
ImageImageImage
Last season: 8th
Home stadium: Stadion Republicana, Serenberg (49,830)
They have a great squad on paper, but they're just lacking something to hold it together. Whether it's coaching, or management techniques, or simply team chemistry, Serenberg were consistently unable to go on a decent run of results last season. They'll be hoping for that to change this year, having kept much the same squad. Outsiders for a possible UICA challenge.
Prediction: 7th

Unione de Fule
ImageImageImage
Last season: 14th
Home stadium: Stadion Proletare, Fule (41,520)
They were blighted by injury last season and fell off into the bottom half of the table without some key players. This season, they'll hope to be reinvigorated and with some better luck, they'll hope to push into the top ten. They play some attractive passing football, but this can lead to a deficit of goals, which really doesn't help them, as good as their defence may be.
Prediction: 9th

Universita Tirinthea
ImageImageImage
Last season: 5th
Home stadium: Stadion Universitii, Tirinthea (40,000)
Tirinthea don't play on university grounds any more, nor are they formally associated with the institution, but they still maintain good links and continue to use the university's name and colours. They have set themselves a target of Globe Cup qualification for the coming season, and with a young and skilful squad, that's not out of their reach. They came so close last year - I think they'll get in this season.
Prediction: 4th

You may note that most of the teams above are not sponsored. The Kinitar Premier Division welcomes international sponsorship - and any company may sponsor a Kinitar team with just a telegram containing the company's logo and the team you'd like to sponsor. Note that some teams (Chyri, 1. Maja, and the two Dinamo teams) reject all sponsorship out of principle.

The Kerlagrad Courier
This going to confuse a bunch of college kids in half a year

After a putative half-century of interassociational club football matches mediated by the Union of International Club Associations, and most recently the completion of the forty-second Champions’ Cup, it is pretty much a certainty that many of these matches will mystify undergraduates in six months' time.

Beyond the live broadcasts of matches, and even tape-delayed replays several hours after they take place, these games will be replayed well out of what more knowledgeable people might deem "football season." In an effort to compensate for this, dates may or may not be subtly placed on the broadcast to indicate that the action is not live. This could potentially involve parenthetical notes to explain the nuances of the Bedistani calendar and concede that calendric conventions differ wildly among the various associations.

The games will then be displayed on TVs in dining halls at institutions which wish to give the impression that they are either hip and cosmopolitan (despite not being able to locate any of these clubs' home cities on a map), places where sports are prized (despite having no athletic scholarships or anything for any sports whatsoever), or simply places where sports need not go hand in hand with crime sprees (despite going hand in certain other body parts). Students, creatures of habit for the most part, who enter the dining halls at the same time every day for short times will then have various experiences of watching the replays. For some, it will always be kickoff after kickoff; others will see final whistle after final whistle. Another group will always show up just in time for stoppage time of the first half, stick around until it elapses, then wander off with sundry and uncertain thoughts.

All this might yet lead to education were the matches to be elaborately labeled. Were a small row of text at the bottom of the screen to indicate that one of the clubs in question was AS Bezieres, who play in the city of Bezieres in the country of Valladares, and that they were opposing FC Axel Heiburg, of Axel Heiburg in the Polar Islandstates, this could provide for an introduction to the details of Rushmori geopolitics. However, such a thing will not ever happen.

Instead, clubs will be identified by series of three letters, and since the match will be zoomed out so far that players are best identified as "the red team" and "the green team," the collegiates will be puzzled trying to figure out which of last year's competitors are represented. To the extent that any of them have friends to eat with, most of them will have more enjoyment trying to identify clubs and associations based only on trigrammes before their friends can than any of them will have ever had from playing football. More solitary diners can at least compete against the clock, trying to figure out who is who before the end of stoppage time of the first half.

Of the clubs thus represented in the Champions’ Cup group stage, R[aynor] C[ity] U[nited]'s exploits make them somewhat more likely than average to be guessed, months after the televised matches actually occurred. "Yub" will also seem vaguely familiar, although the collapse of the Cafundelense league makes this task far harder than it would otherwise be. The improbable success of Tarahal Lake Athletic and subsequent displays of "TLA" in the corner of the screen will cause many young adults to declare that "now they're just messing with us."

However, there is reason for hope. This edition of the Globe Cup saw FKM make the final, and as such every knockout round of that tournament could inspire students to watch and go "wait a minute, I know this one."

Mashiki F.A Presents:
Lige den Premierens I

Mashiki's National Football team has become increasingly popular throughout Mashiki, and the demand for a national club league is increasing. The Mashiki F.A have finally given in to public demands and released a brand spanking new Mashiki Club League, officially known as 'Lige den Premierens' (meaning League of Premiers). However most people just know it as The Football League, as it is the only one of its kind in the country. There is only on professional division, followed up by 6 amateur divisions spread across the land. The basic rules are:

- Top team qualifies for the Champions' Cup.
- 2nd and 3rd placed teams qualify for the Globe Cup.
- Final Globe Cup place goes to the winner of the 'Copen den te Nazionen' (Cup of the Nation'). If this is won by a top three placed team, the final place goes to the fourth place spot.
- Bottom three teams get relegated.
- Two teams with the most points get promoted to Lige den Premierens'.
- Other 4 teams get put in a play-off pod to determine who gets the final promotion place.

All the teams in the top division look pretty much at an even at the moment, so anything can happen during the season. So without further ado, here is the leaderboard at the end of the season:

Lige den Primerens Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 South Bartal 46 24 13 9 62 37 +25 85
2 Darting Baltana 46 21 12 13 48 44 +4 75
3 S.C Tubushu 46 21 11 14 40 31 +9 74
4 F.C Dagnar United 46 19 14 13 60 49 +11 71
5 Gushu Baltana 46 19 13 14 70 59 +11 70
6 St Bradley's City 46 18 15 13 39 29 +10 69
7 Falafal United 46 19 11 16 54 50 +4 68
8 Syriak Guadir 46 19 9 18 73 73 +0 66
9 Destina Masquet 46 16 17 13 27 27 +0 65
10 Olympic Partiad 46 16 14 16 69 66 +3 62
11 Sporting Barassia 46 16 14 16 53 50 +3 62
12 Galapana Islanders 46 16 13 17 54 56 -2 61
13 A.C Barassia 46 15 16 15 42 45 -3 61
14 Maden Galapana 46 13 21 12 39 40 -1 60
15 Athletic Rigana 46 16 12 18 56 61 -5 60
16 F.C United Guadir 46 17 7 22 56 65 -9 58
17 R.C Rigana 46 15 13 18 45 54 -9 58
18 Faladi Republic 46 14 14 18 61 65 -4 56
19 Partia Guadir 46 11 22 13 57 57 +0 55
20 National St Bradley's 46 14 12 20 38 48 -10 54
21 Masquet United 46 15 8 23 57 65 -8 53
22 Racing Tubushu 46 13 13 20 36 42 -6 52
23 Crucia Faladi 46 14 9 23 47 57 -10 51
24 U.F.C Dagnar 46 12 15 19 33 46 -13 51

So South Bartal take the 1st league title of Mashiki, and my word did they storm to victory. A full 10 points ahead of nearest rivals Darting Baltana. Bartal take the Champions' Cup place. Also looking forward to international football next season will be Darting Baltana and S.C Tubushu, after their 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

However, down at the bottom, 3 teams are facing relegation, even though it may have been close. In last place is U.F.C Dagnar, who were looking forward to a good season, but failed to stay in the eague. Also fallen are Crucia Faladi and Racing Tubushu, the sister club of S.C Tubushu. There are mixed fortunes in the city of Tubushu this year... But with the amateur leagues still not over yet, there is still all to play for, and we don't know who will be the new promotion candidates this year. Also up for grabs is the notorious Copen den te Nazionen, who's prize will offer international football for the winners. F.C Dagnar United will be prayoing for a winner in the top three, as they look to steal the final place from their fourth position. But for a month or two, we will never know the result.

Champions Cup:
South Bartal

Globe Cup:
Darting Baltana
S.C Tubushu

Relegated:

I know it may sound ridiculous, but it can prepare you for a distant future when Val Kylx has to retire. It can also help you write a creative RP.

Scrap that, Birolika's idea is awesome.

That might be the first time one of my ideas hasn't been met with the response, "Fine, but where are you going to get all those yaks from?"

TSP Premiership

The Pathfinder Technologies TSP Premiership for association football brings together top clubs representing the national associations of 19 countries to build a worthy competitor to the wildly-successful TSP Super 20 Rugby League in that sport. Thirty-two clubs were selected to represent the associations for the first five years, with each association guaranteed one club and larger countries allocated the remaining slots by size up to a four-club maximum.

Competition combines the best features of sectional home-and-away play with the excitement of a single-elimination cup. The full calendar plays out over 21 weeks. Fourteen weeks are devoted to home-and-away cycles within each of the four regions, with results having significant cup impact in addition to the Regional Banners and prize money for the stage.

First-place sides in each region gain byes to the quarterfinals (four-round byes), placing them one win away from likely UICA nomination and three wins away from the premiership. Second-place sides fare almost as well, with three-round byes to the octofinals. Third and fourth place sides gain one bye for their efforts, with all other sides starting from the opening round. Cup rounds are single-leg ties with home advantage strictly by seed, 1 to 32, based first on placement within the division then by points, goal differential, goals scored, and lots. The first-place club with the best record is thus guaranteed home ground for each round, making the regular season far from meaningless. Ultimately seven rounds of play will crown a lone champion.

Gordonopia Premier League
2015 Season Preview

The Gordonopia Premier League truly came of age following the 2014 season, which saw a number of records and firsts, including the first time a team managed to top both the regular season and the Gordonopia Cup. Now, with a second Champions' Cup berth in hand, both of those titles have even greater meaning. With both portions of the football year bringing a TQCC spot, the league will only be a more competitive affair.

Although a number of veterans, including UICA and National Team heroes, will likely make a huge impact on the league, it is the notable surge in young players that may bring a new element to the game. The number of starting-eleven players in their teens has increased from eight in 2014 to twelve, while the average age of a number of older teams has decreased significantly.

The 2015 season will hopefully take everything that made last year great, and elevate it. As clubs become more competitive and more renowned around the world, every game will mean that much more. As squads vie for the Champions' Cup spots, and the chance to make history to perhaps become the first Gordonopian team to move into that competition's knockout round, top sides will have to play that much harder. As young hopefuls and old powerhouses fight to the end, Gordonopian football will be that much better.

Teams to Watch

FC Deska

Following a stellar season that saw the Northern Wall smash the record for least goals against and win the Golden Glove, dominate the
Image
regular season, and hoist the Gordonopia Cup, there are high expectations coming out of the second city. While the team is again the favorite, there will be some big questions to answer if the team wants to repeat. The biggest of which is how former reserve keeper Jay Neuman will fare in replacing the legendary Ludwig Strauss who retired following last season. Another is how is will be able to shake off the disappointing Globe Cup group stage which, although instrumental in earning Gordonopia a second Champions' Cup berth, failed to live up to the teams' hopes. The squad's defense, though, remains strong as last year's key players remain with a wealth of experience gained from the most recent world cup.

Gordonopia FC

Going into the fourth GPL season, the most prolific team of the Republican era has something big to prove. After failing to claim the
Image
Gordonopia Cup or even the regular season, GFC is out for blood. The team came agonizingly close last season when it finished second to FC Deska in both competitions, and it looks to return to its former status this year. The team benefits from a coupe of strong additions, including Alphonse Lang, the leading scorer in collegiate competitions, and Michael Yamada of the young nation of Saer. Other members of the squad benefit from another year of experience, most notably the young Jonathon Turner who was one of the top strikers last season while he was only 17. With all of this, it seems as if the classic Gordonopia-Deska rivalry that characterized so many GFL thrillers is more than just a single year in the GPL.

Basin Plain

After dominating the River Basin League for several years and making it to the knockout stage of the Series B Championship Cup
Image
two years running, Basin Plain appears set to make its mark on the top flight. Coming in as the most anticipated promotion since Willingham AC, if not ever, Basin seems set to at least qualify for the Gordonopia Cup. The squad is characterized by a dominating midfield, anchored around players such as Zachary Johnston, who managed to make it onto the national team reserves before Basin even managed to make the GPL. Several big signings, including midfielders Lucas Osborne and Robert Spears, from FC Deska and Latimere United respectively, and Martin Lower of Reichsburg FC complete a squad that mixes the teams old faces with top talent.

Avenida Victoria qualifies for the Cygnus Cup after defeating Sent 01, Ferdullaele FC, Jullima Nito Palumba CC, Guja Guti Millaro Fita, Feardallis' Wanderers and Tympú AC. To many, Avenida Victoria didn't deserve to win due to their conservative football style (-5.0), however, the amount of goals scored is what counts.

International competition

Blén CA continued to delight and frustrate their partisans by turns, defeating the world champions and making the final only to lose to monarchists. A mixed bag, and one suspects that's the way they like/dislike/tolerate it.

Unión de Ciudagua went out (for a change) in the Playoff Access Stage of the Globe Cup. This does not get old. Unión Gimignano CF were also eliminated, to Quemavilla, who were subsequently not shocked by Ytriba because we're going to grudingly tolerate their association now. Blén CA lost to Mountain FC, because everybody's got a...all right, enough of that. ICD Villago failed in their quest for a home final, although it lasted somewhat longer than Fábricas'.

Alianza Ciruelas enjoyed their home victories in the group stage, then failed to enjoy their elimination despite winning more than they lost, although in retrospect they're not complaining. Universidad de Dénprade also enjoyed their victories, and offensive competence, and Arcrés Millos scored plenty as well as they went undefeated.

There was free football at Alesanka Park, ending Dénprade's CC run, and so our attention turned to the chances of vaguely home-ish finals. Another Valladar club quickly put this out of reach for Millos, although they made a fight of it on their actual home field. (Meanwhile, 12 de noviembre would have mixed results against Valladar clubs.)

Ciruelas had an easier time of it however, beginning with a rematch against a team they'd disposed of earlier on. They repeated the feat despite a little more defensive sloppiness, then tightened down their defense to oust CA Paulinthal. The quarterfinals saw them put aside a club from Turori in a somewhat less exciting way than their eventual final opponents would, but they had enough energy to hold off the Wanderers in normal duration.

The final was a messy tactical clash, and the early spree of goals testified to the fact that the attacking ways of the nominal home team were in full sway. Gradually they tired, however, and extra time saw Ciruelas' defense begin to set the pace, leading up to Mafalda Ribadeneyra's winning goal.

There was then the matter of the Super Cup, of course, and the Fire's surprising presence there made it a somewhat more winnable target. This it became, with Arturo Benavides scoring two first-half goals against Kyoshiku Island FC and setting the pace to take that as well. After thirty-six seasons of the Liga Aguazuleña, perhaps it's only fitting that the Primera División's only stalwart should earn this prize too.

Editor's Note: We were going to have an in-depth prediction post, featuring expectations from ten different sets of fans, and analysis with final predictions from two independent pundits. Unfortunately, the fans were as biased as one might imagine, and the first pundit turned out to be really not that bright. What's worse, the other appears to have made her predictions by flipping open her poetry syllabus from an alternate universe ten times and sorting chronologically. We tried to get the guy in charge of the league to offer his commentary instead, but he was busy playing a trivia quiz (and falsely believed that Piratas de Grisolon have never done anything of consequence). So we tried to get Emilio to do color commentary of the season, but he was sort of delirious after seeing the final tables. And thus, we have no choice but to present what we're left with. We apologize for the inconvenience.

12 de noviembre
The fans expect: A derby win. Top three would be nice, too.
Pundit 1 says: ¿12 de noviembre? ¿Our defending cup champions? Doesn't sound right. Expect them to focus on the league this time around. Third.
Pundit 2 says: That time of year thou mayst in me behold when yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang upon those boughs which shake against the cold. Second.

AC Mineros
The fans expect: To make a name for themselves.
Pundit 1 says: That that's going to be difficult seeing how mediocre, defensive teams are par for the course beyond the Supercentro. Mind you, fending off CF Clan Tropa and/or Trecelunas FC could prove that they're the best of that crowd...Eighth.
Pundit 2 says: Who would have thought my shrivel’d heart could have recover’d greennesse? It was gone quite under ground; as flowers depart to see their mother-root, when they have blown. Third.

Alianza Ciruelas
The fans expect: To live up to their billing as Super Cup winners.
Pundit 1 says: They're the most consistently good team right now and should be able to wait for everyone else to implode. Champions.
Pundit 2 says: and which you were probably saving for breakfast. Eighth.

Blén CA
The fans expect: Well, they're a fractured lot. The cynics and nihilists of a few seasons ago are writing off this campaign as the fates (and whoever does the cup draws) conspiring against them, as the last two league champions face off as early as they enter. The bandwagon hoppers of the title run are all for putting the cup aside and returning to league glory. So it's unclear.
Pundit 1 says: Their resurgence was genuine, and while they're still not great on defense, they're here for the long haul. Second.
Pundit 2 says: How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting for the miraculous birth, there always must be children who did not specially want it to happen, skating on a pond at the edge of the wood. Ninth.

CA Condadore
The fans expect: Runners-up in the last cup and winners in the cup before, they'd like to continue their success along that route as they reinvent themselves.
Pundit 1 says: They're aging, but still a decent threat for the Globe Cup places. Seventh.
Pundit 2 says: Can storied urn or animated bust back to its mansion call the fleeting breath? Fourth.

CF Clan Tropa
The fans expect: They're beyond thrilled just to make it this far and well beyond thrilled to have stayed up. Since you asked, though, they'll take a return to last Apertura (the making-the-cup-semifinals part, not the setting-an-all-time-record-for-offensive-futility part).
Pundit 1 says: Roque Querido is an exciting signing, but only because we don't have many signings these days. It's been nice knowing this team. Tenth.
Pundit 2 says: And see the children sport upon the shore, and hear the mighty waters rolling evermore. Fifth.

Deportivo Peralta
The fans expect: Goals, at both ends, frankly. Also, fire.
Pundit 1 says: They burned through the second division (but not literally) and should be poised to get a few upsets here when they need them. Ninth.
Pundit 2 says: Fathering and all humbling darkness tells with silence the last light breaking and the still hour is come of the sea tumbling in harness. Tenth.

ICD Villago
The fans expect: Really depends on who shows up to the games. Depor have replaced Ojedo Cerro as the west-Supercentro alternative but the radical republicans should be able to fill their newish stadium. Maybe.
Pundit 1 says: Nothing earth-shattering, but a return to the Globe Cup should be doable. Fifth.
Pundit 2 says: There is written, her fair neck round about: Noli me tangere, for Caesar's I am, and wild for to hold, though I seem tame. First.

Unión de Ciudagua
The fans expect: The title, why not. Also, since we're dreaming, a derby win, a cup run, basically being good at penalties again.
Pundit 1 says: Hah. No. Sixth.
Pundit 2 says: We are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are. Sixth.

Universidad de Dénprade
The fans expect: Title defense? Well, they're not keen on defense, actually, so they'll take a return to the CC and call it magnaminous.
Pundit 1 says: Their last (and, of course, only) win was kind of flukish, and with their manager stepping down this might not prove that easy. Third.
You already predicted 3rd.
What. Seriously?
Yep.
But that was way up there!
Okay, whatever, they can tie for it.
Pundit 2 says: Think not for this, however, the poor treason of my stout blood against my staggering brain, I shall remember you with love, or season my scorn with pity, -- let me make it plain. Seventh.

Bid:

Champions’ Cup: "Estadio Unión de Ciudagua" (Ciudagua, 70,000)

We have no gloss but we do have megaphones.

It is still owned by Recaredo Beloki, who has upgraded his wardrobe to pants devoid of pockets and as such has little place to stick his thumbs nervously. Instead he mostly spends his time twirling around a scarf with his club's name on it. This is a ludicrously bad idea because scarves are completely useless in this climate. However his son-in-law thought they would be a good idea and so you can buy them outside section 204.
