The E-5A Airborne Command Center, also known as “KNEECAP”, carrying on the name from the E-4Bs based upon the Boeing 747, due to the very similar mission. The Aircraft is capable of Various Missions, such as serving as the “White House in the Sky” in case the President House and Command Center in Philadelphia is destroyed by a pre-emptive strike. It can also serve the role of “PARAD in the Sky” (Pennsylvanian Aerospace Defense Command) in the sky by taking control of surviving ICBMs and Airbases remotely and continue the defense with the surviving forces. Another one of its missions is the Evacuation and safety of the Pennsylvanian Government, which it does by having every single aircraft within 7 minutes of the Capitol and always having enough Aircraft on Alert to get the Government out with a at least 30 minute warning.
The Aircraft is a 3 Deck Aircraft by Commercial Standards, but, in the Pennsylvanian Air Force it is listed as a “10 Deck Aircraft”, due to the 10 different sections of the aircraft, respectively called the Operations Team Deck, the Technical Control Deck, Rest Area Deck, Forward Entry Deck, National Command Authority (NCA) Deck, Briefing Room Deck, Communications Control Deck, Flight Avionics Deck, Lower Deck, and Passenger Deck.
The Operations Team Deck is at the Forward part of the Top most deck, immediately behind the Cockpit, and this area is responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the Aircraft, from monitoring the Electronics and other things to checking the Radar Screens and keeping contact with the Aircrafts escorting Fighters.
The Technical Control Deck is the area from which the Engineers and other personnel monitor the aircraft Engine Temperature, Hydraulic Line Pressure, and other things that are vital to keeping the Aircraft in the sky.
The Rest Area deck is just a area full of beds and a Kitchen and TV Room where the crew can go to rest when they are not on Shift.
The Forward Entry deck is the location where the Forward Door is, and were everyone enters the aircraft.
The National Command Authority Deck, or NCA Deck, is the location from where most of the important stuff onboard the aircraft occurs. The Primary job of this deck is to Support the President and His Advisors, as well as the Generals of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. One of the most striking features of the deck is that it holds the “Football”, the Presidents Briefcase from which he can launch Thermonuclear weapons from anywhere in the country from aboard his own E-5A, although this feature is present on Every E-5A, it is only Accessible by certain people of the government. The Security for the Nuclear Launch Device on the E-5A is conducted in 4 Different ways, Eye, DNA, Fingerprint and Voice, making sure no one who is not permitted to use does not. Another act of this deck is to operate as the Government in the Sky in the case of Nuclear War and the entire government having to be evacuated from Philadelphia.
The Briefing Deck is the deck from which the President and His advisors are briefed by various people, such as the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This room has a long table with 46 Chairs and enough room for each person to comfortable move around without bumping into another person’s stuff or to lay out their own.
The Communications Control Deck houses all of the Communications for the aircraft, allowing it to contact anyone anywhere on the earth using Satellite Connections, or within a 400km Radius from the Aircraft using a very high power VHF/UHF Radio system.
The final 2 Decks is the Flight Avionics deck, which is where all of the Avionics for the aircraft Flight are located, and the lower deck, where the Passenger Berths and Rest Area is.
For defenses, the Aircraft has Chaff, Flares, a very powerful Radar Jammer, and an IR Laser based Directional Infrared Countermeasures System. The DICM System uses a medium to high power IR Laser to disrupt a IR Guided Missiles Seeker, diminishing the chance of it impacting on the Aircraft.
The type of Radar jamming system onboard the E-5 is a very high powered Frequency Hopping system, allowing it to effectively jam most missiles within Visual Range, if needed.
