Which form of government is the most successful?

Postby Farror » Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:54 am

Which form of government is the most successful? After reading a post about anarchy I want to find out what people think is the most successful government type and why.

I didn't add anarchy because even though it sounds great it would never last past a month. And there are a lot of other forms of government but I picked the most used/on top of my head.

Live with it. No form of government is the most successful. Why? Because they all have their Pros and Cons.

We haven't tried an all clown government yet. Well, at least not intentionally. ;)

Yeah but which one has more pros then cons? Actually I should be asking which one has cons that aren't severe.

Then there isnt one...

One that went the longest without doing so would probably be Imperial China, and it was a Monarchy...

Question: are not absolute monarchies, dictatorships, and autocracies all the same thing with different trappings? I mean monarchies are not even always hereditary: Holy Roman Empire, many of the small german city-staes, Polish Empire, Imperial Russia at times.

Early XIX century Great Britain - it was great system of balance between Aristocracy, Democracy, and Monarchy (House of Lords, House of Commons, King).
Because all these groups had to cooperate, there was no chance of either despotism or tyranny of majority - it was 1st worldpower, an Empire under the sun. When it democratized completely in second part of XIX century it started to fail apart.

PS: Whats a difference beetween democracy, republic, and parliamentary system? And why there is a only one "monarchy" they were as much diverse as republics

I put down Democracy due to conditioning, but thinking it over Constitutional Monarchies seem relatively stable and long lasting.

People's Republic. Which is propaganda.

People's Republic, also especially in other languages Popular Republic, is a title that has often been used by Marxist-Leninist governments to describe their state. The motivation for using this term lies in the claim that Marxist-Leninists govern in accordance with the interests of the vast majority of the people, and, as such, a Marxist-Leninist republic is a people's republic. Many of these countries also called themselves socialist states in their constitutions; Albania, for instance, used both terms, "socialist" and "people's," in its official name from 1976 to 1991. Opponents[who?] of Marxism-Leninism argue that the name "people's republic" is merely used for propaganda purposes.
