The latest West Zirconian National League season saw the first stage of the league expansion, with four non-league teams admitted to Division Three. We shall see their fate later. But on to Division One...

Stanley United's eight-match unbeaten start, halted only by a 2-1 reverse at home to Taylor's Cross, saw them take a commanding lead. Their conquerors, as well as the usual top teams, were in pursuit. That is, except Mort Park, who had a very slow start. By half-way, the Stanley challenge had faltered, with the Vikings being overtaken by both Banks and Bradley Hornets. Taylor's Cross and, surprisingly, Kirkham Town, were not far behind.

Mort Park's 7-1 demolition of Kirkham in the first match of the season's second half signalled their intention to come back into contention, helped by the inability of any of the teams above them to pull away from the pack. Bradley Hornets remained on top until the end, when they won the league with two matches to spare. Mort Park edged Markham out of the global qualification places, while Taylor's Cross will once more see Globe Cup action. At the other end, East Snaith's relegation was confirmed two matches from the end, where they were joined by Ashton Rovers.

Things were more competitive in Division Two, where Moorcroft Wanderers, Redwood Forest and Civil Service - the last two having just been relegated - fought a close battle. However, Redwood fell away, and it fell to the Bureaucrats to attempt - and fail - to challenge the Wanderers, who won the title with two matches to spare. New Toronto made a quick return to the top flight with their second place. At the other end, Elwell's Division Two life lasted for just one season, as they joined Knifton Town and Flockton Flavell in the lower leagues.

In Division Three, all eyes were on the four newcomers - St. Matthew's Moss and Broxton and Marrs Hill in Division Three North, Greenwood Athletic and Catterall Juniors in Division Three South.

In the Northern division, St. Matthew's Moss got off to a flying start, ending the first half of the season in pole position. Broxton and Marrs Hill ended the half in eighth, some eight points off the lead. However, in the regional leagues, anything can happen - and usually does. St. Matthew's Moss hung on to the lead for much of the second half, but their fellow-newcomers shot into second place behind them. Other more established teams - Culshaw and FC Boston to name two - were immediately behind them. But there was no stopping the leaders, who cruised to the title with three matches to spare. The Broxton challenge faltered towards the end, and they finished fifth. Skelton Town, newly-relegated, found themselves in the playoffs.

In the Southern division, a similar story was being played out. Greenwood Athletic flew to the top of the league, with Catterall Juniors stuck in mid-table by half-way. Greenwood won the title with two matches to spare, with St. Martin City in the playoff. Catterall could only manage a mid-table finish.

A fewtransfers in the top division, as Jacques Didier abandons La Pinatra for Iona Spaceport, and the first inter-country transfer happens with Dernier going to Iona Spaceport from Parahai. This may actually start the exodus of Falconearan players moving to Falconfar and Falconfarian players moving to Falconear. Iosef Niskakangasi moves from Ytriba to Vititi for money, for prestige, and for Vititi's hopes of moving closer to the top. The most important move, though, will be Didier to Iona Spaceport, for it left John-Michel Errat no choice but to seek employment elsewhere, and he found it at Loreza.

Matchday 24
Manvero Heroes 1–2 La Pinatra Crusaders
Vititi Paladins 0–2 Loreza Racers

The New Irswabi Red start their long hike back up with a nice 1-0 victory away at Pyria, which is not as easy as it sounds. They'll need plenty more of those if they are to dig themselves out of the hole dug during the first half. Didier has a good game first time being the starting keeper for the Defenders, while the Spiders hold CPD Dinas Parheft to yet another draw. The three-time Falconearan Champion is looking more and more overwhelmed by every match, due to the amount of stiff competition by the Falconfarian sides.

Matchday 25
Janesville Kings 3–4 Manvero Heroes
Kings Castell-Nedd 4–1 CPD Dinas Larai
Dinas Jukain Unedig 1–1 Mmyrskanor Unedig

New Irswabi Red 3–3 Iriwati Panthers
De Ioke 0–1 CPD Dinas Parheft
Iona Junction Spiders 2–1 Vititi Paladins
Loreza Racers 1–1 La Pinatra Crusaders

A draw for Iona Spaceport as Didier holds up the net once more, catapults the Defenders to fifth place. Meanwhile, New Irswabi and Iriwati play to a three-three draw, with Nigel Rayon and Nasaic going goal for goal, both strikers scoring hat tricks. Pyria being held to a draw by Ewyyinna puts the Thunder in first place by only two games, being a cause of worry for the Thunder faithful. Manvero's star-studded front cashed in with Sjodin and Elliot both scoring braces as they edged the Kings in injury time.

Falconfar Cup Quarterfinals First Leg
27 Rehaven Tide 2–5 1 Iona Spaceport Defenders
14 Vincevol Stars 2–1 3 Manvero Heroes
9 New Irswabi Red 1–1 5 Iona Junction Spiders
7 Vititi Paladins 3–1 6 Iriwati Panthers

Didier let in his first two goals as a Defender, but it wasn't a cause for worry as Irwin Garland-Hart scored a hat trick and Jackson Bennett scored a brace, lifting the Defenders to a commanding lead. Vincevol's Pierre Romalau was able to score late in the second half to let the Stars take a lead, but a trip to Manvero awaits. The much-anticipated match-up between Vititi and Iriwati went the Paladins' way as Agosti of Erathore scored a rare goal from the defensive position and Jared Yemar took care of the rest with a brace.

Matchday 26

Mmyrskanor Unedig 4–2 Kings Castell-Nedd
CPD Dinas Larai 2–2 Janesville Kings

CPD Dinas Parheft's fall continued as New Irswabi scored three away, getting two wins in three games, a good sign for the Red in their ploy to keep Nasaic around. Iona Spaceport and its star-studded staff held dominated the Baraft Warrior with a 3-0 trouncing. Pyria drew once again, with the defense barely holding the fort while the offense is away on vacation. Vititi won yet another shootout of a game, but how much Yemar and Toval can stand up without a defense that's lacking in every aspect except for Agosti remains to be seen. Agosti might actually ask to be moved away. Niskakangasi, though, scored his first goal as a Paladin, a beautiful twenty-three yard strike that was also the game-winner.

Matchday 27
CPD Dinas Larai 3–0 Manvero Heroes

New Irswabi Red 3–3 Vititi Paladins
De Ioke 0–1 La Pinatra Crusaders
Iona Junction Spiders 2–2 Loreza Racers

La Pinatra has managed to stay in a Globe Cup Berth spot despite the departure of Jaques Didier due to the stellar play of its backfield, notably Fred William and Jared Totter. They were efficient once more as the Crusaders shut out De Ioke. New Irswabi managed a draw against Vititi, despite Niskakangasi showing more promise in a two-goal display. The Red are now one or two wins from being clear of the fear of being relegated, and the fans are starting to get back behind their team. Pyria finally won after the half due to a late Loria Votmk goal, but the Thunder's reign may be over soon when looking at the way that Iona Spaceport has been playing as of late. Rhymney Unedig, the only Falconearan team in the top four, was actually shut out by the Kings of Castell-Nedd, causing fear that all four of the major tournament spots will be taken by Falconfarian teams, a feat that Falconearan fans will not be able to stomach.

Falconear Cup Quarterfinals First Leg

31 Tref Bangor 3–1 6 De Ioke
17 Croes Cydweli 0–1 7 CPD Dinas Larai
12 Lleng Machnylleth 0–2 11 Ewyyinna

Although Dinas Parheft has been struggling in the Premier Division, they have looked good in cup play. Taking a 1-0 lead against Ve Hefasi may not be good enough for the next round, though. Tref Bangor continues their surprising play with a 3-1 drubbing of De Ioke, despite being in fourth place in the Cynghrair Eilradd. Dinas Larai and Ewyyinna also have leads at the end of the first leg.

Rhymney Unedig 2–2 Janesville Kings
Mmyrskanor Unedig 2–2 CPD Dinas Larai

Game of the week: Iriwati vs. Rhyfelwr Baraft, barely won by Iriwati due to Laia Un'jeru'betcii of ASMV exploding for a hat-trick, out of nowhere, and then Natasha Myiavic capping it off with a brilliant goal from the left side. Then, it's business as usual for Didier and the Defenders in yet another shutout, while Pyria suffers another defeat at the hands of Pikana. With only five points after half, Pyria looks to be going nowhere special right now, which is bad news with Iona Spaceport playing with renewed purpose behind the leadership of Irwin Garland-Hart and the goalkeeping of Jaques Didier.

Matchday 29
Mmyrskanor Unedig 3–1 Manvero Heroes
CPD Dinas Larai 2–2 Rhymney Unedig

Gilfach 4–1 Vititi Paladins
Ewyyinna 0–2 La Pinatra Crusaders
New Irswabi Red 5–1 Loreza Racers
De Ioke 1–1 Iona Junction Spiders

A five-goal outburst almost has the Red out of the dangerous relegation zone. Dangerously close to it, though, are the Spiders, the Heroes, and the Bulldogs. It will be a disaster if the Heroes were to be relegated, and it wouldn't be good for Ju-Iro, Iona Junction's manager, if they were relegated, either. As Pyria falls, Iona Spaceport rises, as the Defenders gave up their first goal in a while, but also scored four, plenty enough to be only one game back on the Thunder.

Matchday 30
Manvero Heroes 1–0 De Ioke
Iona Junction Spiders 0–2 New Irswabi Red

Mara Kora Bulldogs 2–3 CPD Dinas Larai
Rhymney Unedig 2–1 Mmyrskanor Unedig

Pyria's ten-point, three-game lead has evaporated with the torrid play of the Defenders, who took back the top spot with a dominating performance. Iriwati relied on precise passing and striking to pull off a 4-1 win over Parahai, while Pyria wasn't able to find their scoring touch yet again. Vititi will most likely lose the services of Agosti next season if they keep getting out-scored. Rhymney won to keep their spot in the top four, being the last hope for Falconear for now. In other news, New Irswabi emphatically rose out of the relegation zone by putting Iona Junction almost in it, scoring a 2-0 win away at Iona Junction.

Falconfar Cup Quarterfinals Second Leg
1 Iona Spaceport Defenders 3–0 27 Rehaven Tide, 1 Iona Spaceport Defenders win 8-2
3 Manvero Heroes 0–0 14 Vincevol Stars, 14 Vincevol Stars win 1-2
5 Iona Junction Spiders 1–0 9 New Irswabi Red 5 Iona Junction Spiders win 2-1
6 Iriwati Panthers 1–0 7 Vititi Paladins, 7 Vititi Paladins win 2-3

Two notable upsets here, as the Stars are able to hold Manvero scoreless for the entire game to let their lead go through, while the Paladins escape with a one-goal win. Iona Spaceport vs. Vinvevol and Iona Junction vs. Vititi will be the match-ups, with all talk leading to an all-Iona final.

Matchday 31

Defenders winning is no big deal these days. They haven't lost a game since half... Niskakangasi scores the lone goal in a win over Pikana, the Spiders are knee deep in the relegation zone now, and Dinas Parheft seems like all the air went out of their team. For a team used to success, such embarrassment is new, and the management seems to not have a clue in how to handle it, not a very good thing to show the fans, at all...

Falconear Cup Quarterfinals Second Leg
1 CPD Dinas Parheft 0–2 41 CPD Ve Hefasi, 41 CPD Ve Hefasi wins 1-2
6 De Ioke 1–0 31 Tref Bangor, 31 Tref Bangor wins 2-3

11 Ewyyinna 1–1 12 Lleng Machnylleth, 11 Ewyyinna wins 2-1

A slew of upsets here, most notable being CPD Ve Hefasi's win over Dinas Parheft that knocks out Parheft. Ve Hefasi and fellow giant-killers Tref Bangor will now face Croes Cydweli and Ewyyinna, with the hopes of winning the Falconear Cup and perhaps gaining the automatic Unified Falcon Cup berth that comes with the win for teams that are not in the Unified Falcon Premier and Secondary Divisions.

Iona Spaceport Defenders 0–2 CPD Dinas Larai
Lleng Machnylleth 1–0 Mmyrskanor Unedig
Mara Kora Bulldogs 2–1 Rhymney Unedig

It is CPD Dinas Larai that finally brings Iona Spaceport down to earth, and coupled with the Thunder's 4-1 win, caused by Votmk scoring a hat trick, the Thunder are on top again by one point. In third place currently is La Pinatra, who have showed much resilience in continuing to win despite not having Didier. Though Rhymney Unedig and Mmyrskanor Unedig are entrenched in fourth and fifth place, Vititi and Iriwati have other plans, plans to make the top five teams all be from Falconfar. At the tail end, New Irswabi is clear for now, while Iona Junction is a game back...

Toval, Yemar, Niskakangasi, Agosti. Four names that had key parts in the Paladins' 4-3 win over Dinas Jukain Unedig, which, along with the Panthers' victory over the Kings, moved the two teams up a place in the standings. New Irswabi and Iona Junction both won as well, taking New Irswabi more out of reach of relegation and putting Iona Junction on the twenty-first place.

Iona Spaceport finishes with a third quarter record of 9-1-1, an astonishing transformation due to the acquisition of Didier and Dernier. Ewyyinna trounce the Heroes away at Manvero, while Gilfach puts the Red back to earth with a drubbing. Dinas Parheft has an offensive outbreak at home against the Kings, but it may be too little too late. Pyria can't score enough goals against Mmyrskanor...

Oh, how things can change in eleven games. Three out of four relegation spots are now taken up by Falconearan teams, although it seems that Janesville is going down, period. Everyone is chasing the Defenders on top now, but the team to be praised is La Pinatra, who have hung together after the departure of Didier and kept going, and who can actually have payback against Didier by taking down the Defenders, given enough luck and skill. Pyria only manages ten points in eleven games, a feat that isn't to be proud of at all. Votmk's side has simply lost its offensive rhythm and let La Pinatra and Iona Spaceport sneak up on them. A dogfight between the Defenders, Crusaders, and Thunder, with a bit of pressure from Rhymney Unedig, seems to be in store for the last quarter of the season.

On top is Clwb Sahaive... who has a comfortable two-game lead. Behind them, though, is the Ytriba Shock, who lost Niskakangasi, but are hanging in there, like the Crusaders in the Premier Division. Rounding out the SBCC/Promotion teams are Votto Toren and Loittra, giving two apiece for the Falconfarian and Falconearan sides. Four Falconearan teams, though, are looking to steal the last two spots, meaning that Votto Toren and Loittra best be careful. At the bottom are Canesbrough, Triora, and CPD Temlwyr Bangor. Since two teams being relegated must be from Falconear, the unlucky victim is Dinas Gorllewin Fakar, who sits in sixteenth place overall, but eleventh place out of all the Falconear teams. This can be considered not fair, but it was how the league was drawn up.

- Andrey Antić (Saugeais) from Bugny FC (SAU) to Astograth University
- Yokin Arizmande from Niccostrato (Erathore) to Urbizania Wanderers
- Danek Badjkev (Mytannion), last at Urbizania Wanderers, retired from football
- Edwardo Baez (Falconwhereveryouare) from Nestingham FC (FWY) to Urbizania Wanderers
- Munio Baranzano (Iturributa), last at Lermendia FC, retired from football
- Ayoro Barinaga from Arsar (Erathore) to Athletic Club Rumiatzi
- Brandon Bishop (Camwood) signed as a free agent by Royal Rumiatzi
- Victor Brexio (Erathore) from Sporting Iturributa (Iturributa) to South Factory
- Cuco (Vielha) from Montse (Vielha) to Ituraitz FC
- Sammi Eisner (Polar Islandstates), last at Ituraitz Victory, retired from football
- Mikelatz Elizalde from Bugny FC (Saugeais) to Echegoyan FC
- Ellis Elmsvikur (Polar Islandstates) from Iturributa United (Iturributa) to Royal Rumiatzi
- Hannibal (Antoletia) signed as a free agent by South Factory
- Vladimir Konovalov (Polar Islandstates) from Royal Rumiatzi to Ituraitz Victory, on loan
- Urgutz Martinena from Juvillian Martinax (Erathore) to Urbizania Wanderers
- Oxel Nuin from Royal Rumiatzi to Vanler Dynamo (Camwood)
- Gu∂mundur Olsson (Cotdelapoms) signed as a free agent by Urbizania Wanderers
- Tilford Quirin (Civil Citizenry) from South Factory to Astograth University
- Alphonse Richelieu (Saugeais) signed as a free agent by Oyardo FC
- Baudouin Richelieu (Saugeais) signed as a free agent by South Factory
- Soter Sarlange from CR Submiria (Cafundéu) to Ituraitz FC
- Aurelio Seriesta (Pacitalia) from Royal Vosaroni Antenelli (Erathore) to Echegoyan FC
- Ekhi Subies from Niccostrato (Erathore) to Royal Association

A very active transfer window saw the largest influx of foreigners in quite a while, and from the most varied places too. Gu∂mundur Olsson becomes the third Cotdelapomais to compete in Astograth after Bernard Ouellette and the venerable Louis-Yves Lafayette, and joining him at the heavily-reinforced Urbizania Wanderers will be Falconian Edwardo Baez and Astograthian national team players Urgutz Martinena and Yokin Arizmande, migrating from the defunct Erathi Seria-A. Ekhi Subies and Ayoro Barinaga also make their return; Pacitalian defender Aurelio Seriesta, from the renowned Royal Vosaroni Antenelli, is Echegoyan FC's star signing this season.

Saugeais was another nation heavily involved this time around: Mikelatz Elizalde returns to keep goal for Echegoyan FC after many successful seasons at Bugny FC, his former teammate Andrey Antić joining the revamped Astograth University, who also obtained the services of Citiz star Tilford Quirin. Meanwhile, the 17 year-old Richelieu twins have been signed by Oyardo FC and South Factory in a cunning attempt to secure promising foreign talent; Royal Rumiatzi's signing of young Camwood striker Brandon Bishop runs along much the same lines, as does South Factory's other interesting acquisition, the Antoletian Hannibal. Cuco, from the largely unknown nation of Vielha, made headlines with his transfer to defending champions Ituraitz FC, but the real buzz was elsewhere.

Astograth national team all-time top scorer Soter Sarlange, after many seasons in Cafundéu with CR Submiria, returns to Ituraitz FC as a living legend, where he may pair up again with former Olibondeka captain Dei Ormache. That's only half of the story, though, as the club's other large forward Ikatz Ansotegi has been traded to Submiria and is set to shake things up in the Primeirona. Royal Rumiatzi, for their part, couldn't stand aside and let the tabloids linger in Ituraitz; they had to go and pay an obscene amount of money for Ellis Elmsvikur's buyout clause at old rivals Iturributa United. The Polarian now arrives as a traitor to the Iturributan people, as the best paid footballer in the First Division's history and as the man charged with taking Royal Rumiatzi to the league title Timo Skye just couldn't win.

First Division

ImageImage
Ituraitz FC
Hometown: Ituraitz
Ground: Ituraitz Sporting Ground (63,000)
Colours: All red kit
Honours: 4 Leagues (636, 641, 642, 647); 4 Royal Cups (637, 640, 641, 646); 1 Ides of March Cup (641)
Manager: Domeka Iriarte
Lineup: Astigar Barrueta (C); Bardol Oiskonta, Edorta Garro, Pirdassia Bawuah, Dima Petersen; Cuco, Lester Sutton, Ikatz Alberro, Tartalo Achaga; Tomas Aer, Soter Sarlange
Shirt Sponsor: ChocoMilk (Citiz dairy products)
Season 647: Champions
Notes: They're ready, they're expectant, they're roaring at the starting line, but given how close their title win was last season and how ridiculously the other candidates have prepared themselves, they could find themselves out of the race if they don't hit the ground running. The talent is there, the winning experience is there, the goals – what with Tomas Aer, Soter Sarlange and Dei Ormache in the squad – are there, but is the grit? The deep desire to excel, beaten into them? We'll just have to see.

ImageImage
Echegoyan FC
Hometown: Echegoyan
Ground: Ximun Orieta Sporting Ground (34,000)
Colours: White and green striped shirt, green shorts and socks
Honours: 1 League (644), 1 Royal Cup (645)
Manager: Garoa Larzondo
Lineup: Mikelatz Elizalde; Soter Borunda, Aurelio Seriesta, Abdoulaye Bocandé, Eneto Zarandona; Ilixo Akutain, Iosif Tarapkin (C), Iban Bachiondo, Manex Urrutia; Salum Merec, Kauldi Isasmendi
Season 647: 2nd
Notes: Manager Gunutz Yaregi is off to manage Olibondeka, so Echegoyan have hired former Royal Rumiatzi goalkeeper and manager Garoa Larzondo, he who had so much trouble with the impertinent Timo Skye. He's a solid choice, but this team has been built from the ground up by Yaregi and it'll be interesting to see how they hold up without him, especially with Larzondo's bold decision to strip the irascible Bachiondo of the armband and hand it to Chetkoski star Iosif Tsarapkin, so vital in their lone league title win some years back. On paper at least, the team is looking better than ever, with keeper Echepare Larrea replaced by the tried and true Mikelatz Elizalde and Aurelio Seriesta bringing all the Pacitalian tradition to an already strong defensive line.

ImageImage
Astograth University
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: Arritzola (36,350)
Colours: White and light blue halved shirt, light blue shorts and white socks
Honours: None
Manager: Xuban Barrutia
Lineup: Churio Muniya; Burni Beyaitz, Haitz Maistegi, Leheren Ubago, Efraín Vizcaíno; Andrey Antić, Urdaspal Treto (C), Lekubegi Guerrikaechebarria, Leizarraga Lukuix; Loren Dornaletze, Tilford Quirin
Season 647: 3rd
Notes: The dump that was once Arritzola has been expanded into a megaplex that now seats over thrice as many people, which illustrates just how dizzying the rise of Astograth University, guided by Xuban Barrutia, has been over the past few years. The club, run by the actual state university, was once one of the poorest and weakest in the league; now they're popular, well-funded and playing great football. They haven't let up with the transfers either, now taking on Royal Arexa starlet Maistegi, Citiz goalscorer Quirin, naturalised Tamarindian full-back Vizcaíno, Saugeain holding midfielder Antić and Iturributan national team starter Lukuix. Mix them with veteran keeper Muniya, captain Treto, goal machine Dornaletze and the talented Guerrikaechebarria and you've got a recipe for a serious title challenge.

Royal Rumiatzi
[b]Hometown:
Rumiatzi
Ground: Knights' Stadium (70,000)
Colours: White shirt, dark blue shorts and socks
Honours: 4 Leagues (634, 635, 637, 643); 2 Royal Cups (634, 644)
Manager: Norman Kerrick
Lineup: Cheru Larretape (C); Urtzi Galard, Vladimir Beschastyn, Dion Jantot, Váradi Szemere; Kauldi Ayatsbehers, Galeano, Bartosz Slusarski, Anixi Eturaspe; Ellis Elsmvikur, Harold Nehafsaim
Shirt Sponsor: Torstebank (Blockhead bank)
Season 647: 4th
Notes: Royal Rumiatzi finishing fourth shouldn't be the norm, but somehow it is. Even after buying Timo Skye. Even after Iturributa United and Sporting Iturributa left the league. Still, they stupidly dropped points in the penultimate matchday that would've been worth a title they haven't won in far too long. To that end, Citiz manager Kerrick has signed nimble midfielder Galeano, changed the formation, benchedCafundelense Wilson Prieto and convinced the board to spend the largest transfer fee the First Division has ever seen, along with the largest salary, to bring Ellis Elmsvikur as their star striker. The Polarian, once reviled in the capital, is now their new-found hero, and his partnership with the mobile Falconfarian Harold Nehafsaim should produce very interesting results.

ImageImage
Urbizania Wanderers
Hometown: Urbizania
Ground: Cherketzo Arena (30,500)
Colours: All dark green kit
Honours: 1 Royal Cup (643)
Manager: Edorta Urrustoy
Lineup: Urgutz Martinena; Odon Karrikart, Giro Ekenarro, Yokin Arizmande, Hitzeder Kareaga; Wolfgang Sandberg, Edwardo Baez, Fantasia Cecil-Marie, Yaizki Alaberri (C); Eguzki Berriex, Fabián Taggliafico
Shirt Sponsor: Farautoo (Polarian vehicle manufacture)
Season 647: 5th
Notes: Former Olibondeka midfielder Edorta Urrustoy has a good eye for transfers, and after guiding his boyhood club Wanderers to a good fifth place and a Globe Cup run that was cut cruelly short by the Erathi Vincanto, he has once again resumed his strategy of bargain buys. Arizmande and Martinena are two excellent players and were obtained on free transfers after the dissolution of the Seria-A; Wanderes didn't pay a penny either for utility player Gu∂mundur Olsson. Some money was thrown around to get Falconian Edwardo Baez, Royal Arexa's exciting forward Eguzki Berriex and Ximun Orieta's Mendiko Dicharry, but overall Urrustoy has built a low-maintenance team with plenty of foreign talent, that can perform up there with the best of them.

ImageImage
South Factory
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: The Foundry (37,710)
Colours: All yellow kit
Honours: None
Manager: Andoitz Arriaga
Lineup: Jaap Zuiverloon; Gorri Mendizko (C), Maurin Doynehard, Baleren Aresti, Iban Zarazua; Eyande Arroita, Sein Zamarripa, Lore Echebarne, Yon Gayastegi; Baudouin Richelieu, Victor Brexio
Shirt Sponsor: Poplaberg (Polarian housing)
Season 647: 6th
Notes: South Factory may have lost their best player in Tilford Quirin, but the men of the Foundry are rubbing their hands with glee after replacing him with none other than Erathi Victor Brexio, who twice led Sporting Iturributa to First Division titles. They've also got teenager Baudouin Richelieu from Saugeais, with manager Arriaga trusting him enough to thrust him right into the fray; he has slightly less faith in the also-17-year-old Antoletian midfielder Hannibal, but all in due time. The three Zs of Zuiverloon, Zarazua and Zamarripa, together with Gayastegi, will be looking to repeat and improve upon the performance that took them to sixth last season.

ImageImage
Gesterlake FC
Hometown: Gesterlake
Ground: Castle Hill (38,630)
Colours: Yellow shirt, dark blue shorts, yellow socks
Honours: None
Manager: Chachu Larreburo
Lineup: Anixi Osma; Hitz Oniederra, Artzeiz Barbarea, Larendi Berruet, Izotz Ugaldea; Erroman Mamblona (C), Edorta Irazogi, Tipi Lafarga, Dabi Linzuain; Ibon Urdanibia, Formerio Gorospe
Season 647: 7th
Notes: Gesterlake FC, underdogs of the year! On the back of an enormously talented defense, the men from the Araxes river flew high enough to burn their wings, but the fall to seventh still left them very happy with their work. They've still got Anixi Osma, voted last season's best keeper in the league, and the lack of goals up front should be corrected with the signing of Oyardo's Formerio Gorospe, even if they've lost the rather injury-prone Iratze Errekaborde to Sporting Iturributa.

Oyardo FC
Hometown: Oyardo
Ground: Sahatsakbasoa (14,100)
Colours: White and red striped kit, black shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Ichaso Chapitel
Lineup: Marchel Lazkano; Soter Yeras, Adame Ordozkoiti, Marz Keheiye, Oihan Elizabaraz; Ion Arreta, Oinatz Bustinse, Atze Aliza, Peli Alzu; Egoitz Pocholo, Alphonse Richelieu
Season 647: 8th
Notes: Another team that does much better than expected, Oyardo climbed straight from the second tier to a remarkable second-place finish, another testament to the skill of Ichaso Chapitel. This seaons they look well on their way to the same; though they may not have their talismanic striker Formerio Gorospe anymore, they've got Alphonse Richelieu from Saugeais and none other than Ion Arreta, Royal Rumiatzi's former central midfielder. These two men, the former with vast potential and the latter with vast experience, could be just what Oyardo need at this point in time.

Blue Mountain Range
Hometown: Echegoyan
Ground: Ximun Orieta Sporting Ground (34,000)
Colours: All light blue kit
Honours: None
Manager: Bizi Boutayre
Lineup: Argider Gorriaran; Soin Boneta, Bikendi Medrano, Mogel Anies, Tipi Arregi; Aintza Goyenola (C); Berasko Esparkia, Ruisko Zaldinbar, Aberri Elizalde, Marcel Sanderskye; Tibalt Kereyasu
Shirt Sponsor: Notzi Zombees (Taeshani energy drinks)
Season 647: 9th
Notes: Things aren't looking too good for Blue Mountain Range, though they always find a way to stay strong. Bardol Oiskonta has left for Ituraitz FC and the incoming transfers have received a tepid response from the fans. What they've already got might well be enough, especially given Boutayre's knack for instilling defensive discipline in his teams, what with Arregi and Esparkia keeping things tight and the Sanderskye – Kereyasu connection hopefully getting things going at the other end.

Ituraitz Victory
Hometown: Ituraitz
Ground: Ituraitz Sporting Ground (63,000)
Colours: All blue kit
Honours: 1 Royal Cup (639)
Manager: Iaki Urrutia
Lineup: Aurken Krestia (C); Dunixi Dibar, Uzuri Euleche, Gauargi Yurrieta, Raitin Eneriz; Bikendi Irungarai, Ametz Sarria, Uhaitz Bidart, Vladimir Konovalov, Lope Guesamburu; Sendoa Irigiben
Season 647: 10th
Notes: Victory have been through tight spots recently, and the retirement of their Polarian forward Sammi Eisner doesn't make it any easier. On paper, the players they've got are enough to do much better, what with Aurken Krestia and Ametz Sarria trajectory, Raitin Eneriz's call-up to Olibondeka and Lope Guesamburu's fine playmaking skills. The Army Club's Sendoa Irigiben perhaps isn't the best forward to have up there on his own, but Guesamburu and the Polarian Vladimir Konovalov, loaned from Royal Rumiatzi, could make the difference there.

ImageImage
Royal Arexa
Hometown: Arexa
Ground: Goyaingerua Stadium (21,810)
Colours: All white kit
Honours: 1 Royal Cup (647)
Manager: Altzibar Echenarro
Lineup: Polentzi Gayategi; Alaon Osinalde, Luk Agirrebalzategi, Ekhe Urioste, Piarres Otadui; Remir Elgezabal, Beremando Eskibel, Marchelin Zorregieta, Ambe Anchustegi; Yelchu Urdangarin (C), Loramendi Arregi
Season 647: 11th
Notes: Royal Arexa pulled off one upset after another last season. They were tipped for relegation and finished a lofty eleventh, before going all the way in the Royal Cup against none other than Urbizania Wanderers. Then, what nobody expected, was their run to the semfinals of the Cygnus Cup, eliminating the likes of Royal Khaldoon and Yuba United (!) before being knocked out by beaten finalists AS Bezieres. The atmosphere in Arexa is electric, though the team's reality is less than promising after having lost a number of key players. Ekhe Urioste from Iturributa United could keep things ordered at the back, but Loramendi Arregi doesn't seem an adequate replacement for Eguzki Berriex; Echenarro and the board haven't overexerted themselves in obtaining a top-level squad, that's for sure.

ImageImage
Ximun Orieta FC
Hometown: Ituraitz
Ground: The Deathbowl (26,460)
Colours: Purple shirt, black shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Atzeden Lusa
Lineup: Arixo Haristoy; Ximun Yaka, Sustrai Zuaste, Yuli Soroko, Dutari Gaitzka; Berruete Echahun, Arkoitz Rikabarren, Arabante Zarandona (C), Inko Zarrabeitia; Otsando Irubieta, Elazar Arrizabalaga
Season 647: 12th
Notes: The Deathbowl may sound intimidating – and visiting it has indeed been a daunting prospect in seasons past – but it seems that this year it'll be all too easy to pick up the three points. A squad largely inexperienced with top-flight football, the loss of forward Mendiko Dicharry and a falling out between Lusa and the board could well mean relegation for XOFC.

ImageImage
The Army Club
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: 18th March Stadium (21,000)
Colours: Dark red shirt, blue shorts and dark red socks
Honours: None
Manager: Arnaitz Basagoitia
Lineup: Balesio Lanziego (C); Urki Yarza, Petri Urdanibia, Kaxen Ondoro, Aitzol Narbon; Eusko Lachondo, Eriz Larannaga, Oroitz Delsupexhe; Anchoka Bastegieta, Eneko Madariaga, Yokin Achabal
Season 647: 13th
Notes: The Army Club remaining in the top tier was largely down to the actions of one man – Tamarindia-born Galeano – and now that he's off to Royal Rumiatzi the situation is looking grim. Their hopes therefore fall on Eusko Lachondo, Urbizania Wanderers' former strong man, but if he fails then the whole team likely will.

ImageImage
Royal Association
Hometown: Iturributa
Ground: Unity Stadium (33,500)
Colours: Black and white striped shirt, black shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Egoi Barrenechea
Lineup: Yoritz Suastegi; Aitor Gurucharri, Aletsander Burkua, Endira Elichagaray, Tartalo Oyaneder; Otsoa Ibarlukia, Mayorga Aldundaga, Aurre Areche, Ekhi Subies; Artizar Oidor, Donotzia Mendaza (C)
Season 647: 1st in Second Division
Notes: Royal Association were one of the founding members of the Astograthian First Division, and by far the most unlucky since then. A long-time yo-yo club, they were once again in the second tier when Iturributa gained independence and they were given the option of splitting off along with the rest of the Premier Division. But of course, the Royal in their name isn't for nothing, and unlike Royal Garitzeta they stayed true to their origin and became the first club in the First Division to have its home ground in foreign territory – along with the three teams from Princess Béatrice Isle in the lower tiers of the Football League. They don't recognise Iturributa as independent of course, which makes for some humorous conflicts of authority, but the fans and the Crown wouldn't have it any other way.

ImageImage
Miners FC
Hometown: Echegoyan
Ground: The Lieutenant (14,700)
Colours: Red shirt with black stripe, black shorts, red socks
Honours: None
Manager: Machin Mimetz
Lineup: Iyart Eskide; Koldo Berrataran, Iturri Samalbide, Marchot Gayarre, Ixidor Totorikaguena; Lauaxeta Urgangarin (C), Hibai Otal, Ostots Etchehoun, Arnalt Eskoz; Kimetz Iramay, Endura Bezaken
Season 647: 2nd in Second Division
Notes: They said there couldn't be three teams from Echegoyan in the top-flight. They said the Miners were doomed to the lower leagues. They said a whole lot of things, but in the end Machin Mimetz's men proved them all wrong as they not only gained promotion but also blazed their way to the semifinals of the SBCC, even eliminating Royal Association in the process, before falling to eventual winners San Pablo of Aguazul. They may not have great names in their squad, but the Miners are here to stay.

ImageImage
Athletic Club Rumiatzi
Hometown: Rumiatzi
Ground: Gotorlekua (42,000)
Colours: Red shirt with white cross, white shorts and socks
Honours: None
Manager: Alar Martikorena
Lineup: Echepare Larrea; Cherran Ukio, Irachio Chasko, Ixona Unamunzaga (C), Kelmen Dazarola; Ayert Bidorreta, Ayoro Barinaga, Pagomari Zamarriyo, Erramun Guza; Indartsu Errendasoro, Lartaun Echaspe
Season 647: 3rd in Second Division
Notes: Athletic Club Rumiatzi are another disgraced team – and possibly a sleeping giant. With an enormous fanbase among the working class of the capital, Athletic boast a very young squad bolstered with some great quality at the back in the form of former Echegoyan FC men Echepare Larrea and Irachio Chasko, along with captain Unamunzaga. Up front, Lartaun Echaspe from Astograth University is sure to cause some trouble, with the venerable forward Sein Lorda not too far if needed.

Will Iona Spaceport end up the winner of the first unified league? Let's look at the final twelve matches of the season.

Premier Division

Matchday 35
Lleng Machnylleth 4–2 Manvero Heroes
Mara Kora Bulldogs 0–3 Iona Spaceport Defenders
Rhymney Unedig 1–0 Pyria Thunder
Mmyrskanor Unedig 0–1 Iriwati Panthers
CPD Dinas Larai 1–3 CPD Dinas Parheft
Janesville Kings 2–3 Vititi Paladins
Kings Castell-Nedd 4–2 La Pinatra Crusaders
Dinas Jukain Unedig 1–0 Loreza Racers
Parahai 1–2 Iona Junction Spiders
Pikana Pirates 3–2 De Ioke
Rhyfelwr Baraft 0–2 New Irswabi Red
Gilfach 1–0 Ewyyinna

The final quarter starts off just like the third one did; with Iona Spaceport winning and Pyria losing. With La Pinatra falling as well, Iona Spaceport's lead is up to five points. At the tail end, New Irswabi and Iona Junction both win, looking to survive to fight another season. Vititi is getting used to one-goal wins powered by their offense, which is having Niskakangasi fit in very well with Toval and Yemar. Iriwati wins as well, as five of the top six teams are indeed from Falconfar.

Falconfar Cup Semifinals First Leg
14 Vincevol Stars 0–3 1 Iona Spaceport Defenders
7 Vititi Paladins 2–1 5 Iona Junction Spiders

Another masterful performance by Didier as Garland-Hart and company take a huge lead over Vincevol. Vititi, however, is trying all it can to crash the all-Iona party, as goals by Toval and Yemar gave them a one-goal lead on the Spiders. Will it be an all-Iona final?

Matchday 36
Manvero Heroes 4–3 Gilfach
Ewyyinna 4–3 Rhyfelwr Baraft
New Irswabi Red 1–0 Pikana Pirates
De Ioke 1–2 Parahai
Iona Junction Spiders 5–4 Dinas Jukain Unedig
Loreza Racers 3–1 Kings Castell-Nedd
La Pinatra Crusaders 0–0 Janesville Kings
Vititi Paladins 0–0 CPD Dinas Larai
CPD Dinas Parheft 2–2 Mmyrskanor Unedig
Iriwati Panthers 0–3 Rhymney Unedig
Pyria Thunder 2–2 Mara Kora Bulldogs
Iona Spaceport Defenders 1–0 Lleng Machnylleth

Since Didier joined the Defenders, he's given up five goals in thirteen games, which is quite amazing. He had another great performance against Lleng Machnylleth. Rhymney dominated Iriwati to stay in second, while Pyria tied against Mara Kora. Iona Junction, on the other hand, had to get all it could out of Rayon and Un'jeru'betcii to edge Dinas Jukain Unedig. Ten matches remain with Iona Spaceport having a two-game lead. Can the Defenders hang on?

Falconear Cup Semifinals First Leg
41 CPD Ve Hefasi 0–2 11 Ewyyinna
31 Tref Bangor 2–1 17 Croes Cydweli

Tref Bangor's march to an automatic Unified Falcon Cup berth continues with a 2-1 win against Croes Cydweli. Ewyyinna has CPD Ve Hefasi on the ropes.

Matchday 37
Iona Spaceport Defenders 3–2 Manvero Heroes
Lleng Machnylleth 1–1 Pyria Thunder
Mara Kora Bulldogs 3–3 Iriwati Panthers
Rhymney Unedig 0–0 CPD Dinas Parheft
Mmyrskanor Unedig 1–4 Vititi Paladins
CPD Dinas Larai 1–0 La Pinatra Crusaders
Janesville Kings 0–1 Loreza Racers
Kings Castell-Nedd 5–2 Iona Junction Spiders
Dinas Jukain Unedig 4–0 De Ioke
Parahai 1–3 New Irswabi Red
Pikana Pirates 0–0 Ewyyinna
Rhyfelwr Baraft 1–5 Gilfach

Didier had an off day, but Irwin picked it up with enough goals to handle the Heroes, who have fallen all the way to seventeenth place. All those high-profile foreign players may play somewhere next season. Iona Junction got creamed by the Kings of Castell-Nedd, as they are still in danger of relegation. New Irswabi has climbed all the way to thirteenth, new life for a club that seemed destined for relegation not that far ago. Vititi managed four goals once again, as the offensive powerhouse struck.

Matchday 38
Manvero Heroes 5–2 Rhyfelwr Baraft
Gilfach 2–1 Pikana Pirates
Ewyyinna 2–2 Parahai
New Irswabi Red 1–0 Dinas Jukain Unedig
De Ioke 2–2 Kings Castell-Nedd
Iona Junction Spiders 5–4 Janesville Kings
Loreza Racers 0–2 CPD Dinas Larai
La Pinatra Crusaders 3–1 Mmyrskanor Unedig
Vititi Paladins 1–3 Rhymney Unedig
CPD Dinas Parheft 3–0 Mara Kora Bulldogs
Iriwati Panthers 1–3 Lleng Machnylleth
Pyria Thunder 0–1 Iona Spaceport Defenders

Jacques Didier held up to Pyria for ninety minutes, and an Irwin Garland-Hart goal in injury time was all that it took for the Defenders to put them away. Rhymney Unedig dominated Vititi as the Paladins weren't able to score enough goals this time around. Iona Junction scored five again... And barely won. How often can they keep this up?

Matchday 39
Pyria Thunder 2–1 Manvero Heroes
Iona Spaceport Defenders 0–1 Iriwati Panthers
Lleng Machnylleth 2–0 CPD Dinas Parheft
Mara Kora Bulldogs 3–3 Vititi Paladins
Rhymney Unedig 2–2 La Pinatra Crusaders
Mmyrskanor Unedig 2–3 Loreza Racers
CPD Dinas Larai 1–0 Iona Junction Spiders
Janesville Kings 0–0 De Ioke
Kings Castell-Nedd 3–0 New Irswabi Red
Dinas Jukain Unedig 0–1 Ewyyinna
Parahai 1–2 Gilfach
Pikana Pirates 1–2 Rhyfelwr Baraft

Pyria keeps the last Globe Cup berth for now with a five-point lead over Vititi, who only managed a draw against Mara Kora. Iriwati actually defeated the Defenders with a Myiavic goal in the second half. New Irswabi in twelfth place has to be one of the biggest turnarounds in a season ever.

Matchday 40
Manvero Heroes 1–0 Pikana Pirates
Rhyfelwr Baraft 2–6 Parahai
Gilfach 1–0 Dinas Jukain Unedig
Ewyyinna 5–4 Kings Castell-Nedd
New Irswabi Red 4–1 Janesville Kings
De Ioke 1–0 CPD Dinas Larai
Iona Junction Spiders 1–0 Mmyrskanor Unedig
Loreza Racers 1–1 Rhymney Unedig
La Pinatra Crusaders 2–1 Mara Kora Bulldogs
Vititi Paladins 4–4 Lleng Machnylleth
CPD Dinas Parheft 1–0 Iona Spaceport Defenders
Iriwati Panthers 0–0 Pyria Thunder

CPD Dinas Parheft kept a prayer of qualifying for a Globe Cup berth alive by defeating Iona Spaceport, which has lost two games in a row for a while. Parahai exploded for six goals against the Baraft Warrior, while Manvero had Elliot score the game-winner. Six games to go and the Defenders have a two-game lead, with La Pinatra somehow still hanging around. Perhaps we had put too much of Didier's success on Didier himself and not enough on his teammates...

Falconfar Cup Semifinals Second Leg
1 Iona Spaceport Defenders 7–1 14 Vincevol Stars, 1 Iona Spaceport Defenders win 10-1
5 Iona Junction Spiders 3–5 7 Vititi Paladins, 7 Vititi Paladins win 4-7

Iona Spaceport scored seven goals against Vincevol. Garland-Hart scored four, Bennet three. The Defenders seem to be back in form and hungry. Vititi, though, crashed the thoughts of an all-Iona final by out-scoring the Spiders. Iona Spaceport vs. Vititi it will be in the Queen's Dome for the final.

Matchday 41
Iriwati Panthers 5–4 Manvero Heroes
Pyria Thunder 3–0 CPD Dinas Parheft
Iona Spaceport Defenders 1–3 Vititi Paladins
Lleng Machnylleth 2–1 La Pinatra Crusaders
Mara Kora Bulldogs 0–0 Loreza Racers
Rhymney Unedig 0–0 Iona Junction Spiders
Mmyrskanor Unedig 2–1 De Ioke
CPD Dinas Larai 0–2 New Irswabi Red
Janesville Kings 2–1 Ewyyinna
Kings Castell-Nedd 5–3 Gilfach
Dinas Jukain Unedig 0–0 Rhyfelwr Baraft
Parahai 0–1 Pikana Pirates

Iriwati outscored Manvero, and Vititi defeated the Defenders. Fifth and sixth place they lie, showing the Falconfar dominance. Pyria did defeat CPD Dinas Parheft 3-0, but La Pinatra lost. New Irswabi? Moved all the way from twenty-fourth to tenth place. Crazy... Crazy!

Falconear Cup Semifinals Second Leg
11 Ewyyinna 0–1 41 CPD Ve Hefasi, 11 Ewyyinna win 2-1
17 Croes Cydweli 1–1 31 Tref Bangor, 31 Tref Bangor win 2-3

Tref Bangor will march to the National Dome against Ewyyinna for the hope of securing an automatic berth in the Unified Falcon Cup.

Matchday 42
Manvero Heroes 1–0 Parahai
Pikana Pirates 0–2 Dinas Jukain Unedig
Rhyfelwr Baraft 4–4 Kings Castell-Nedd
Gilfach 3–1 Janesville Kings
Ewyyinna 3–1 CPD Dinas Larai
New Irswabi Red 5–2 Mmyrskanor Unedig
De Ioke 0–1 Rhymney Unedig
Iona Junction Spiders 2–0 Mara Kora Bulldogs
Loreza Racers 3–1 Lleng Machnylleth
La Pinatra Crusaders 0–0 Iona Spaceport Defenders
Vititi Paladins 2–2 Pyria Thunder
CPD Dinas Parheft 0–2 Iriwati Panthers

Can anyone tell that New Irswabi was last at the halfway point of this season? Not by the way they're playing now! A five-two win over Mmyrskanor Unedig puts the Red into eighth place, something they would've never even dreamed of. Iona Spaceport drew against La Pinatra as Didier's former team and current team couldn't score against each other at all.

Matchday 43
CPD Dinas Parheft 0–4 Manvero Heroes
Iriwati Panthers 4–5 Vititi Paladins
Pyria Thunder 1–1 La Pinatra Crusaders
Iona Spaceport Defenders 1–0 Loreza Racers
Lleng Machnylleth 0–1 Iona Junction Spiders
Mara Kora Bulldogs 3–3 De Ioke
Rhymney Unedig 0–2 New Irswabi Red
Mmyrskanor Unedig 4–1 Ewyyinna
CPD Dinas Larai 3–2 Gilfach
Janesville Kings 5–3 Rhyfelwr Baraft
Kings Castell-Nedd 3–2 Pikana Pirates
Dinas Jukain Unedig 2–1 Parahai

Manvero put a lid on CPD Dinas Parheft's season with a four-zero drubbing that left the Parheft fans wondering what had become of their season. Vititi and Iriwati had a nine-goal shootout of a match that was only decided when Niskakangasi put in the last goal with one minute left to go in the game in order to give the Paladins the win instead of the tie. New Irswabi defeated the second place team in the league, leaving Pyria and La Pinatra a chance to actually dethrone Rhymney Unedig for second place.

Matchday 44
Manvero Heroes 3–5 Dinas Jukain Unedig
Parahai 0–1 Kings Castell-Nedd
Pikana Pirates 5–1 Janesville Kings
Rhyfelwr Baraft 1–0 CPD Dinas Larai
Gilfach 4–5 Mmyrskanor Unedig
Ewyyinna 2–2 Rhymney Unedig
New Irswabi Red 2–1 Mara Kora Bulldogs
De Ioke 3–2 Lleng Machnylleth
Iona Junction Spiders 0–2 Iona Spaceport Defenders
Loreza Racers 0–0 Pyria Thunder
La Pinatra Crusaders 3–1 Iriwati Panthers
Vititi Paladins 3–5 CPD Dinas Parheft

Iona Spaceport claims their second title in a row with a deciding win over their rivals, Iona Junction. With an eight-point lead and two games left, they've secured their second straight Champions' Cup berth. La Pinatra put three past Iriwati, and coupled with Rhymney's draw, it was good enough for second place, with two games to go.

Matchday 45
Vititi Paladins 2–2 Manvero Heroes
CPD Dinas Parheft 1–2 La Pinatra Crusaders
Iriwati Panthers 2–1 Loreza Racers
Pyria Thunder 5–1 Iona Junction Spiders
Iona Spaceport Defenders 2–0 De Ioke
Lleng Machnylleth 2–2 New Irswabi Red
Mara Kora Bulldogs 2–1 Ewyyinna
Rhymney Unedig 2–3 Gilfach
Mmyrskanor Unedig 3–0 Rhyfelwr Baraft
CPD Dinas Larai 0–2 Pikana Pirates
Janesville Kings 3–3 Parahai
Kings Castell-Nedd 1–2 Dinas Jukain Unedig

One game left, and six of the top seven are from Falconfar. New Irswabi has climbed to fifth place, but there aren't enough chances left for the Red to go for a Globe Cup berth. They'll just have to be content about making it up so far from last place.

Matchday 46
Manvero Heroes 4–2 Kings Castell-Nedd
Dinas Jukain Unedig 0–2 Janesville Kings
Parahai 1–3 CPD Dinas Larai
Pikana Pirates 1–3 Mmyrskanor Unedig
Rhyfelwr Baraft 2–0 Rhymney Unedig
Gilfach 2–2 Mara Kora Bulldogs
Ewyyinna 2–2 Lleng Machnylleth
New Irswabi Red 0–1 Iona Spaceport Defenders
De Ioke 2–0 Pyria Thunder
Iona Junction Spiders 4–1 Iriwati Panthers
Loreza Racers 1–0 CPD Dinas Parheft
La Pinatra Crusaders 3–2 Vititi Paladins

Another season over, and it is Iona Spaceport on top, with LPC somehow managing second place. Falconfar showed dominance with having six of the top seven teams, and CPD Dinas Parheft ended the season with another loss. What a bummer for them.

Manvero's season wasn't a complete bust as the Heroes manage a Copa de los Principes berth. The Defenders take the title, with LPC managing second place, and Pyria in third... New Irswabi's climb is one of the best stories of the season. At the tail end, Janesville and the Baraft Warrior's season was over long ago, while Mara Kora will have to spend yet another year in "purgatory".

Licentian Premier League – Season Two

We are into the second season of well organised football in Licentiapacisterra, and two more teams have been added to the league, having earned permits to turn their sides professional. Sporting Club Montfort, known as the Blues or simply SC, who for years were massive rivals of the cross-town Wanderers, are arriving on the top level of Licentian football for the first time in 50 years, with backing from the highest level, after the heir to the Licentian throne, Crown Prince Andrew Finlay de Montfort, bought a majority stake in the club. The second new side is St Bartholomew’s AFC, the first top division side from the Licentian Barrier Islands in any sport. Expect fervent support when teams travel to St Bart’s to take on the pride of LBI.

We also see the first foreign influences on Licentian football this season. Virabian Mick Rodgers has signed with Globe Cup qualifiers Abingdon Celtic, as they push to overthrow Lucan’s Super White dynasty in Montfort. But the Wanderers countered, bringing a foreign influence of their own, in the shape of Guillerme Di Luca, signed straight out of the Northern Sunrise Islands’ Universitarian Pool, and expected to play a big role at LTI Stadium this season.

Table at the Halfway Point:

Licentiapacisterran Premier League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 SC Montfort 11 10 0 1 34 4 +30 30
2 Carrington United 11 8 2 1 23 3 +20 26
3 A.F.C. Farnworth 11 7 3 1 17 10 +7 24
4 Colesham Athletic 11 6 0 5 17 14 +3 18
5 Glenmount Town 11 4 5 2 14 10 +4 17
6 St Bart's 11 5 2 4 16 16 0 17
7 Abingdon Celtic 11 4 3 4 16 13 +3 15
8 Montfort Wanderers 11 3 3 5 16 14 +2 12
9 Garton County 11 3 1 7 7 19 −12 10
10 Marley Town 11 2 2 7 9 28 −19 8
11 Houghton Rangers 11 1 3 7 12 23 −11 6
12 Rivermouth F.C. 11 1 0 10 5 32 −27 3

A large fall from grace for Lucan’s Wanderers, as after 11 games, they won only three games, and collected 12 points. By comparison, cross-town SC have shocked the LPL, losing only one game in the first half of the season, with the Crown Prince often on his feet celebrating, especially in the one-nil defeat of the Super Whites in week 8. Celtic have also found trouble, down in seventh, having only won one more game than the champions. Carrington and Colesham are in the fight for UICA places, along with AFC Farnworth, while St Bart’s are in the top half of the table. Rivermouth have again been pushed to the bottom, with Houghton and Marley both only a few points ahead.

Final Table:

Licentiapacisterran Premier League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 SC Montfort 22 16 3 3 57 16 +41 51
2 Carrington United 22 15 3 4 39 13 +26 48
3 Colesham Athletic 22 12 3 7 38 22 +16 39
4 Abingdon Celtic 22 11 4 7 29 18 +11 37
5 Montfort Wanderers 22 10 4 8 44 28 +16 34
6 A.F.C. Farnworth 22 9 6 7 25 22 +3 33
7 St Bart's 22 9 5 8 26 27 −1 32
8 Glenmount Town 22 8 7 7 24 25 −1 31
9 Garton County 22 6 5 11 18 31 −13 23
10 Houghton Rangers 22 4 6 12 29 44 −15 18
11 Marley Town 22 4 4 14 18 53 −35 16
12 Rivermouth F.C. 22 1 4 17 10 58 −48 7

The dynasty is OVER !! SC Montfort have pulled off an amazing first season in the LPL, clinching the title with a week to spare with a home draw against St Bartholomew’s, sending the blue side of Montfort crazy as they head towards the TakilQuip Champion’s Cup for the first time in the club’s history. Carrington, Colesham and Abingdon all keep their Globe Cup places from last season, though the Celtic had to win and count on Carrington beating the former champions on the last day to clinch their spot. The second poor season for Rivermouth has affected the club in more ways than one. With ticket sales falling, owner Fred Burton is being forced to look around for new investors, possibly from abroad. If something doesn’t come in soon, Burton may forced to file for bankruptcy with the club.

UICA Qualifiers:

Champion’s Cup – SC Montfort
Globe Cup – Carrington United, Colesham Athletic, Abingdon Celtic

Cygnus Cup qualifier to come in a subsequent post.

Grand Duke’s Challenge Cup

The Grand Duke’s Challenge Cup is the largest domestic football tournament aside of the LPL in Licentiapacisterra. It has its history in the amateur times of Licentian football, and has now emerged as the competition to decide a Licentian club for the Cygnus Cup.

The format contains 12 teams, all from the LPL, seeded based on their position in the league last season. Since they did not compete in the LPL last season, SC Montfort and St Bart’s will be seeded in the lowest pot. There are three pots of four in the competition, with the bottom two pots facing each other in the first round, and the winners taking on the top pot in the next round, with the competition carrying on until the final, held at Luke Thomas I Stadium in Montfort.

Seedings:

1. Montfort Wanderers
2. Abingdon Celtic
3. Colesham Athletic
4. Carrington United
5. Glenmount Town
6. AFC Farnworth
7. Houghton Rangers
8. Garton County
9. Marley Town
10. Rivermouth FC
11. SC Montfort
12. St Bart’s

First Round:

Glenmount Town 0–1 St Bart's
AFC Farnworth 0–0 SC Montfort (1–1 AET) (2–4 pen.)
Houghton Rangers 3–2 Rivermouth F.C.
Garton County 1–1 Marley Town (1–2 AET)

Quarter Finals:

Montfort Wanderers 4–1 St Bart’s
Abingdon Celtic 1–0 SC Montfort
Colesham Athletic 2–0 Marley Town
Carrington United 3–3 Houghton Rangers (3-3 AET) (4-5 pen.)

Semi Finals:

Montfort Wanderers 3–0 Houghton Rangers
Abingdon Celtic 1–0 Colesham Athletic

Final:

Montfort Wanderers 0–0 Abingdon Celtic (0-0 AET) (4-2 pen.)

So, the Super Whites did end up taking some silverware home this season, though it isn’t as prestigious as they hoped. A tough penalties victory over Celtic sends the Wanderers home fairly happy, but hungry for more next season.

Congratulations to the Grand Duke’s Challenge Cup winner, and Licentian Cygnus Cup representative, Montfort Wanderers !!

This nation has now been reformed as the Licentian Isles. Please direct anything intended for me to that nation.

The third season of the new Liventia–Ad’ihan Professional Football League has now taken place, with 106 clubs from the two countries competing for the right to be called Liventian or Ad’ihani champions. The tiebreakers across all five divisions of the LAPFL are constant: head-to-head results, head-to-head goal difference, goal difference, head-to-head goals scored, goals scored, head-to-head away goals, away goals, wins.

This season saw a number of changes. Caernvill Hawks of the First Division signed a new affiliation deal, this time with Jan Mayen Islanders of Polar Islandstates, and changed their name to Caernvill SeaHawks. The Port Stanley Tiger Sharks, previously aligned to Portsham City in the old Virabi league, terminated that deal after the upheaval in that league. The team, promoted to the Second Division for this season, have signed an affiliation with Astograth's Royal Rumiatzi, and by Astograthi royal assent have taken the team name Royal Port Stanley.

A new cup to be held every other season for the 70 non-Premier League teams and the four teams eliminated in the first round of the Premier League Cup was also introduced this season. The winner of this cup will take the fourth and final Series B Champions’ Cup qualification spot, unless the cup winners are in the A Premier League in which case the spot will default back to the fourth placed finisher in the B Premier League.

Before the season started, Caernvill SeaHawks announced the signing of two players from parent club Jan Mayen: Lucas Opland, a 22-year-old Polarian right back, on a four-season contract, and David Wien, an 18-year-old Polarian centre-half, on a season-long loan. Ultimately, Caernvill managed a solid mid-table finish in the third tier for the second season running, while Royal Port Stanley performed above expectations and only missed out on promotion on head-to-head record.

LAPFL Season 3
Premier League
Navon Beach, third last season, managed a superb run in both league and cup to become the first LAPFL double winners, taking the title by two points from CS 1093 Modna Nord. Defending champions Mountbatten Junction were let down by ten losses, and finished in third a further two points behind, but ahead of new Liventian champions Mountain FC on head-to-head results. At the bottom, the bottom two Ad’ihani teams and the last-placed Liventian team made up the bottom three, with Schimpol, 16th in the A Premier last season, leading the way down. The top three in the B Premier were all Ad’ihani, meaning third-placed South Point missed out on promotion to fourth-placed Liventian team Folenisa. Meanwhile, Coastal County suffered their second straight last placed finish to drop out of the elite tier of 36. In the new PFL Cup, RCU Dz’ai, one of four Premier League teams knocked out of the Premier League Cup at the First Round, went on a run all the way through to the final, only to lose in extra time to Sémoy Panthers—who were relegated from the First Division.

The Astograthian Football League: Season 648 Review

The landmark fifteenth season of Astograthian football has come to a close with yet another thrilling finale, as we look back on the results of the First and Second Divisions and the prestigious Royal Cup!

First Division
It couldn't be any other way, could it? Royal Rumiatzi couldn't stand idly by as Ituraitz FC equalled their four titles, and with the likes of Ellis Elmsvikur and Galeano now in the squad, Citiz manager Norman Kerrick took them to an unprecedented fifth. It wasn't easy at all, though, as surprises abounded and the title was clinched by the slightest of margins...

The season kicked off with defending champions Ituraitz FC inmediately staking their claim, legendary stiker Soter Sarlange firing them into the lead on his long-awaited return. Fellow title candidates Echegoyan FC and Astograth University stumbled; the former still adjusting to their new manager Garoa Larzondo and the latter because they pparently did not have much time to meld together after the many incoming transfers. It speaks volumes about Edorta Urrustoy's ability that Urbizania Wanderers had no such problem despite being in much the same situation; Urrustoy imprinted his distinct style and had the team playing with a consistency that allowed Wanderers to be among the frontrunners in the early part of the season. Athletic Club Rumiatzi, straight up from the second tier, also impressed, their new signings buoying them up as high as second place before plummeting down, incapable of maintaining form.

Royal Rumiatzi, meanwhile, suffered some setbacks against lesser teams and Echegoyan FC, but when it seemed they would be struggling to get to the top for yet another season, Ellis Elmsvikur appeared to set up the Knights' first and then score the winner in their 2-1 away win over Ituraitz FC, which propelled them to the top. They took first place on MD8 and did not let it go until they secured the championship on the final matchday, a masterclass in consistency that benefitted greatly from their seasoned defense. The attacking triangle of Eturaspe, Nehafsaim and Elmsvikur didn't score as much as, say, Ituraitz FC, and indeed none of them were one of the three top scorers, but they created chances and finished them when it mattered the most. Most noticeably on the final matchday: Royal Rumiatzi and Urbizania Wanderers both went in with the same 53 points – Ituraitz FC eyed them from the side with 51 – and were separated by the Knights' slightly better goal difference, after drawing both of their head-to-head clashes.

If they drew on goal difference it would go down to a title-deciding play-off at Grand Duke's Stadium, but Elmsvikur and Slusarski put Royal Rumiatzi 2-0 over South Factory and Wanderers could only manage a 6-4 win in Oyardo, an Alphone Richeliue brace denying them first the title outright and then the play-off. A nervy finish up there with last season's, in which any of Ituraitz FC, Astograth University and Echegoyan FC could've won it.

Urbizania Wanderers are left wondering what could've been after such a close finish, but they should be enormously proud of what they've accomplished. They've challenged for the title for the first time ever, and their reward is an also first-ever qualification to the UICA Champions' Cup. A solid defense, an adequate strikeforce and a very strong midfield – Sandberg and Baez were true playmakers, while Cecil-Marie and Alaberri scored a fair bit themselves – means they can expect to start aiming high at domestic and international level.

Ituraitz FC also have reason to be frustrated: if they hadn't dropped points against South Factory on the penultimate matchday, the title could've easily been theirs, nevermind the matches lost and drawn with Royal Rumiatzi. Regardless, they've maintained a good rhythm and should be proud of their football not just collectively but also individually: Soter Sarlange finished as the First Division's top scorer in his homecoming season, Cuco adapted just fine to the team and Dima Petersen once again proved he is Astograth's finest right-back.

Astograth University and Echegoyan FC built formidable squads, but lacked the managerial talent to make them perform at their best. University had the two best wingers in the league in the form of Lukuiz and Guerrikaechebarria, but Tilford Quirin did not get on well with his partner Loren Dornaletze and Andrey Antić found the shift in pace uncomfortable. The board still have faith in Xuban Barrutia, though, and encouraging results in the second half of the season means the future could hold a smooth ride to the top. Echegoyan, for their part, struggled to recover from the abrupt departure of manager Gunutz Yaregi, his more offensive-minded replacement Garoa Larzondo failing to account for the squad's peculiarities. Pacitalian defender Aurelio Seriesta partnered up perfectly with the more brutish Abdoulaye Bocandé but were often given conflicting instructions from the bench; captain Iosif Tsarapkin maintained his fine form and Iturributan striker Kauldi Isasmendi managed to keep himself firmly in the scoring charts.

Level on points with Echegoyan FC were Ituraitz Victory and Oyardo FC, either which of whom could have qualified for the Globe Cup for the first time ever if they'd pulled off an upset and taken points from Astograth University and Urbizania Wanderers on the final matchday. Both are nonetheless quite pleased, as they've done much better than expected; Victory thanks to the loaned Vladimir Konovalov and Oyardo to the 17 year-old Alphonse Richelieu, both of whom scored and created chances with ease. Alphonse, along with his twin brother Baudouin of South Factory, are already attracting the interest of the pond's bigger fishies...

Blue Mountain Range did well to earn a mid-table place, and they'll be particularly proud to have conceded the least of all clubs despite losing several key components at the back. The lack of goals doesn't worry them too much, although it did result in another embarassing round of Echegoyan Derbies against FC. Athletic Club Rumiatzi rocketed up from Second Division to second place, before settling down with a nice ninth place, Lartaun Echaspe and Pagomari Zamarriyo the highlights of their campaign.

Lower down were Royal Association and Ximun Orieta FC, who counted themselves satisfied to have avoided relegation – this time at least. On the very edge were The Army Club – who can't be long for the First Division after this – and South Factory, who continue their unpredictable, up-and-down route through the top flight. Their defense was found to be sorely lacking, Brexio and Richelieu incapable of balancing out the scoreline when Zuiverloon was having to gather the ball from the net so often.

Come the last day of the league season, any of Gesterlake FC, Miners FC, Royal Arexa and The Army Club could be going down. In the end, TAC saved themselves but doomed the Miners with a placed shot from Anchoka Bastegieta; Royal Arexa couldn't possibly overcome Echegoyan FC; Gesterlake once more couldn't hit a barn door, this time against Royal Association and bringing their count to a whopping 19 goals scored. As such, Echegoyan's “third team”, the Cygnus Cup semifinalists and the most popular club on the Araxes river will be spending time out in the second tier, surely plotting their return.

Second Division
Athletic Club Olarria persuaded its players to stay when they dropped, and it paid off well, earning promotion, a pretty trophy and the top Astograthian seed at the SBCC with relative comfort. Joining them will be East Railway, who haven't been in the top flight in a long time, and Lermendia FC, who also make their comeback after dropping down recently. At the other end, Mauritza and Urbizania United just weren't cut out for the second tier, while the Scarlettville Rough Riders from Princess Béatrice Isle couldn't capitalise on their shock promotion and will be returning to the Second Division B.

The Royal Cup Round of 64 doesn't always provide upsets, but when it does they're huge ones. This season had some of the most shocking ever, with the third-tier Sporting Ibarguren beating Royal Association, Old City Central overcoming the well-entrenched Urizaharra FC and the Winteredge Pirates from Princess Béatrice Isle beating none other than the defending champions and Cygnus Cup semifinalists Royal Arexa. A special place should be reserved for Uertza FC, however, as they came away with a 3-1 win at South Factory before delivering a 6-2 drubbing at home that immediately became part of the humble club's lore.

The Round of 32 was more entertaining than usual, as Ximun Orieta edged Gortz United in a northwestern derby, Lermendia FC pulled off a memorable upset by beating four-time Royal Cup champions Ituraitz FC and the luck of the draw paired the giants of Royal Rumiatzi with the titans of Echegoyan FC – making them both seem normal-sized – in a duel that was won by Echegoyan home and away courtesy of Salum Merec and Iban Bachiondo.

Round of 16
Athletic Club Rumiatzi 1-1 Ximun Orieta FC
Ximun Orieta FC 4-2 Athletic Club Rumiatzi (5-3 agg)

Sporting Ibarguren 1-2 Antiguoko FC (1-3 agg)

Astograth University 1-0 East Railway
East Railway 0-2 Astograth University (0-3 agg)

Gesterlake FC found the goals they couldn't in their league form, hammering Miners FC to reach the quarterfinals, while Royal Rumiatzi demolished the modest Mauritza FC. Urbizania Wanderers were put under pressure by Athletic Club Yungoitio but still managed to make it through thanks to their first leg result. The Army Club turned their tie against Lermendia FC in spectacular fashion, which is something Letzama couldn't do against Ituraitz Victory. Antiguoko Fcbecame the only Second Division side in the quarterfinals after beating the third-tier Sporting Ibarguren and Astograth University strolled into the final eight after a relatively simple tie against East Railway.

Quarterfinals
Ximun Orieta FC 0-4 Royal Rumiatzi
Royal Rumiatzi 1-0 Ximun Orieta FC (5-0 agg)

Gesterlake FC 0-0 Urbizania Wanderers

Ituraitz Victory 3-3 The Army Club (3-7 agg)

Antiguoko FC 1-2 Astograth University
Astograth University 2-0 Antiguoko FC (4-1 agg)

Elmsvikur and Nehafsaim made short work of Ximun Orieta FC as Royal Rumiatzi continued their warpath to the title. Wanderers had a tough opponent in Gesterlake, Fantasia Cecil-Marie the only one capable of slipping past their defense and scoring the winner in extra time. The Army Club pummeled Ituraitz Victory, and Astograth University eliminated Antiguoko to make it an all-top-tier final four.

Semifinals
Royal Rumiatzi 1-0 Urbizania Wanderers
Urbizania Wanderers 0-1 Royal Rumiatzi (0-2 agg)

The Army Club 0-1 Astograth University
Astograth University 4-2 The Army Club (5-2 agg)

Wilson Prieto, with one of his trademark penalties, and new acquisition Brandon Bishop secured Royal Rumiatzi's fourth Royal Cup final, having won two of the other three they've played; Wanderers are left with a burning desire for revenge after being deprived of both this and the First Division title. Astograth University, for their part, easily dispatched the cross-town Army Club with an inspired showing from Tilford Quirin.

Royal Cup Final
@ Grand Duke's Stadium, Rumiatzi
Royal Rumiatzi 0-1 Astograth University

An all-Rumiatzi final, highly anticipated. University's first, the Knights' fourth; Grand Duke's was packed to the rafters with fans of the latter. But much like last time, when Royal Rumiatzi was embarassed in their home city by the Ituraitzi upstarts, the underdogs proved superior and took home a Royal Cup right from under their noses, Grand Duke Lastur himself handing over the trophy to the venerable Urdaspal Treto with visible reluctance.

On three minutes, a long Lukuix free-kick was headed down by Leheren Ubago and tapped in by their Citiz star Tilford Quirin; the rest of the match was a dominance on behalf of the Royalists that never translated into an equaliser. They grazed and struck the post numerous times, and a man of the match performance from goalkeeper Churio Muniya denied them on the long shots and one-on-ones. In the end, it could've been two for University as Loren Dornaletze ran with it on the counter-attack and left it back for Guerrikaechebarria, who missed incredibly as the whistle sounded and the men in white and light blue at long last celebrated their very first honour.

The Whirl Islands Premier League Season 14

Fourteen seasons of Whirl Islands Premier League action have already been held, so let's have a quick look at what happened this last season...

Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Navel FC 33 20 6 7 65 39 +26 66 CC

12 Lagoon Crocodiles 33 6 12 15 26 59 -33 30 REL

And once again, both Navel titans find themselves fighting for the title, with NFC taking advantage over the Sharks thanks to their wins in the Navel derbies that helped them claim the championship from their arch-rivals, who were at the brink of being left without Champions' Cup participation this upcoming UICA cycle due to Atlantis' spectacular comeback in the last third of the season, however, it was not enough to strip Navel Sharks from second place and the Yellow-Blacks had to settle for third place and a Globe Cup berth. Meanwhile, the Red Diamonds, Eastburg United, and the Greencaps were in their own particular fight for the last Globe Cup berths, but Portland's resurgence this season was not enough to put them back on the international stage, and LRD and Eastburg will be playing in the Globe Cup next season.

And this time, the struggle against relegation was more exciting than ever, given the fact that it involved half the league at some point in the season, with both Vieux-Port teams, Narissa, Halcones, Racing de Terranova, and Lagoon Crocodiles trying to avoid the drop by ending in last place of the standings. Eventually, the issue was reduced to only Racing and the Crocodiles, with the team from Terranova leading LRD's rival by 2 points, and while Racing had an easier closing fixture as they had to host the Dolphins, the Crocodiles had a tough mission as they had to visit Jamestown to face the Sharks and had no option different to win and expect Racing not to do so. Racing only tied Narissa, but the Crocodiles were unable to do their part of the deal and bowed out of the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against the Sharks.

The Whirl Islands Campeonato Nacional Season 16

The unimportant Campeonato Nacional reached its sixteenth season with some familiar faces plotting their return to the Premier League, while other not-so-familiar ones were looking to make themselves known. Eventually, Union ended their period of distress and suffering in the second division with a championship and a promotion over their arch-rivals Sparta, who were relegated 2 seasons ago, and after not taking the affair too seriously the last time, this time they tried to go back up to no avail. Athletic Victoria were also unable to bounce back to the Premier League after their relegation last season, despite they were fighting with Union and Sparta for the title and in spite of the fact they were leading the competition for several weeks. And the fourth SBCC berth went to Deportivo Maracaibo, who wanted to emulate their rivals (Halcones) without success, as they were too far from the actual fight at the top. The biggest disappointment of the season were the Seahawks, who saw the other side of the coin after recent seasons of brilliance.

MID-SEASON SUMMARY

Image

OPENING DAY SUMMARY:
The big match to start the season saw the Turoki Tide, Season 29 Runners-Up and Tropical Trophy Winners squaring off against Kiiarana City, the previous Season's Runner-Up and reigning Tropical Trophy champions.

The match was an opportunity for both teams to stake their claims as the primary challengers to Strike's reign as the Stellar Division champions and it was the Tide who struck first through Relmar Wioauoi in the 17th minute. The early goal ended up making the difference and Rexii Tzikas netted an insurance goal as the match wound down to give the Tide the 2-0 victory and scuttling any momentum Kiiarana may have had coming into the season following their Tropical Trophy Triumph.

Elswhere, defending champions Strike FC were held to a shock draw by newly promoted Nusira Lionta, the only match on the opening day which ended in a draw. The Yeaddin Owls, Turoki United, Kionao Locals, Cednia Beach and Makosile all recorded opening day victories to sit level atop the table off to the best possible start.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 5:
The big match on matchday 2 saw Strike hosting Arcticala Inlet in a match with title implications. Anthony Rojas opened the scoring for the visitors but Krytenia's Matt Ordish quickly equalized for Strike. The match was level at 2-2 until late in the match when Ritopa Simafela fouled Lita Adjei in the penalty area, gifting the Electricians the 3-2 win after Camthalio Ringeril's penalty conversion. After two matchdays, only two teams, Turoki United and Kionao Locals, remained unblemished. The Locals held Strike to a thrilling 3-3 draw on Matchday 3 while Turoki were also held allowing Cednia Beach to leap frog to the top of the table after their 3-0 thrashing of Nusira Lionta.

The tone for the season might have been set at the Cednia Beach Center on Matchday 4, as a tense match saw Camthalio Ringeril with another late winner to propel Arcticala Inlet to the top of the table after a slow start.

It took 5 matchdays but Strike finally recorded their first win of the season against Kiiara-Torra to move up into the top half of the table. Cednia Beach kept pace with the leaders winning a critical Turori derby against Kionao Locals.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 10:
It was clear on Matchday 6 that there may have been a changing of the guard in the Vilitan League as defending champions Strike went down 2-0 to Makosile while Tropical Trophy winners Kiiarana were crushed 3-0 by leaders Arcticala Inlet, sending Kiiarana into the early relegation zone. The field caught up however on Matchday 7 as Colonial Sile stopped the Electricians momentum and the top 6 teams pulled within 3 points of the leaders keeping the league table uncharacteristicly tight.

The Electricians were held again on Matchday 9 allowing the Yeaddin Owls to move atop the table with a multitude of teams hot on their tails, heading into a massive Matchday 10 that would flop the top 6, the Owls dropping from 1st to 6th after being defeated by Turoki United, who moved level top (19p) with Arcticala Inlet and Cednia Beach, one point ahead of Makosile, Colonial Sile and Yeaddin on 18 points. Strike prowled behind in 7th while Kiiarana were dissapointing in the relegation zone on just 6 points.

THROUGH MID-SEASON:

Kiiarana's misery got worse on Matchday 11 as the travelled to the Lonngeylin Coliseum to get absolutely crushed by Strike in clear retribution for the Tropical Trophy defeat from earlier in the season. Kiiarana had two players sent off in the match as Strike closed the gap to just two points behind the top 6.

Strike clawed back into the Top 6 on Matchday 12 upending Colonial Sile while the rest of the top 4 beat up on each other, allowing Yeaddin and Arcticala Inlet to pull ahead, setting up an epic showdown at the Lonngeylin Coliseum to mark the seasons halfway point.

Despite the 'classicality' of the original rivalry between the Yeaddin Owls and Marine Coast United, statistics show that Yeaddin and Strike have finished 1-2 in the Stellar Division standings 7 times, the same as Yeaddin and Marine Coast have done the trick.

With the Owls tasting some of the missing pre-gap magic atop the Table, Strike sat 5 points back looking to firmly plant themselves back into the title picture for the second half of the season.

It didn't take long for Strike to get their fans into the game, Yves Gadois connecting on a header just 90 seconds after the kickoff to propel the defending champs ahead of the leaders, a lead they would protect through the half while continuing to pepper shots at Haneshi Hamaaz'urii. Things took a turn however when Strike's defender Simafela was sent off for dangerous play, giving the Owls a way back into the match.

The Owls began to pressure Nycflala Kater's goal in the second half looking for a way to keep the gap between them and the Venom in the table. Krytenian defender Matt Ordish had other ideas, however, picking out chance after chance and clearing the danger, helping Strike hold on and pull within 2 points of the three-way tie atop the Stellar Division Table.

Cednia Beach, Makosile and the Yeaddin Owls sat on 24 points, each representing a different land mass as the top 6 were within just 2 points setting up a spectactular second half.

In 7th, Colonial Sile were an Island of their own, 3 points behind 6th and 4 ahead of the 8th place Turoki Tide. In the Relegation zone, Jlinal Cove remained winless at the bottom of the table with 1-win Kiiarana shockingly losing touch with the pack.

OPENING DAY SUMMARY:
The 31st Season of the 'best of the rest' in the Declasse division of the Vilitan League opened with very little separation between any of the sides with 5 of the 7 matches ending in a draw. Mavaloiao got the early jump with their 2-1 victory over Lonngeylin Coast, Homelands Our's Jamie Long on the scoresheet for the League Leaders. The other victors were Tivali City who recorded a shock victory over Stellar Division demotees Turoki Isle putting an early dent in the Islanders bid to bounce right back up to the top flight.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 8:
The theme of the season in the Declasse was back to defense with only third placed Morata Valley averaging more than one goal scored per match through 8 games. Season 2 Cup winners Tivali City topped the table after a trio of 1-0 victories followed closely by Eastal Lunar. At the bottom of the table, newcomers Yutzie Sorma and Inura Forests were both searching for their first victories, along with Irottea FC.

Vilitan Cup Group Stage:
Group 1 saw non-leaguers Marta Seraai edge out Kikanla Toau for the final qualifying position to the knockout rounds behind Turoki United, the first time the Seraai non-leaguers advanced to the knockout stage. Group 2 saw the return of a rivalry as Strike welcomed Marine Coast United to the Lonngeylin Coliseum, disposing of the now-Declasse side 2-0 and eliminating them from the competition while clinching the group where they will be joined in the knockout stage by Mavaloiao City. Non-League sides Sile Town and Surf Jettica were no match for Nusira Lionta and Lonngeylin Coast in Group 3, neither able to score a single goal.

In Group 4, perhaps the greatest Non-League side in Turorian history, reigning UICA Series 'B' Champions, Cedniavella Turori, topped the group, eliminating the Kionao Locals in the process and joined by Irottea in the knockout stage. In Group 5, Eastal Lunar and Kiiara-Torra had no problem advancing beyond their non-League opposition. Group 6 saw a trio of League sides and Morata Valley was the odd team out as Colonial Sile and FC Almintora advanced. Perhaps the true shock of the group stage came in Group 7 as the Lopinka Rovers and Lopinka Locals stunned Cednia Beach AFC, knocking the former Stellar Division champs out of the cup at the first stage for just the 6th time in 31 seasons.

Group 8 saw no surprises as Inland Peaks and Makosile advanced while Group 9 was bad news for the Island Emirate of Turori with newly invited Declasse side Inura Forests crashing out after a pair of drubbings, 0-5 against the Turoki Tide and 0-4 against Arcticala Inlet, before claiming the slim 1-0 victory over Non-League Turorian side Sokattack Mliona to regain some semblance of respect. Recently relegated Riailia Village began to make their claim for a re-invitation to the league by defeating Turoki Isle and drawing against the Yeaddin Owls, eliminating both sides to join Kiiarana in the Knockout stage. Turori's Mliona-Lpaka took control of Group 11 to advance along with Jlinal Cove.

So many upsets this round, it's hard to count them all. La Pinatra and Pyria both fall to Second Division sides, while Iona Spaceport holds on. Vititi and CPD Dinas Parheft are also victims to the surge of Second Division teams that seem determined to win this Cup.

1 Iona Spaceport Defenders 2–1 48 Rehaven Tide
4 Rhymney Unedig 0–1 44 CPD Temlwyr Bangor
5 New Irswabi Red 0–1 40 Wurlington Dynamos
7 Iriwati Panthers 2–2 Juyroai (2–2 AET) (4–3 pen.)
9 Mmyrskanor Unedig 2–3 33 Treharris
11 Lleng Machnylleth 2–3 28 Loittra
13 Manvero Heroes 3–4 18 Kings Castell-Nedd
14 Iona Junction Spiders 3–0 15 Ewyyinna

Only three top 16 teams remain: Irwin Garland-Hart and the Defenders, with Didier's solid keeping; Iriwati and its interesting offensive crew; and Iona Junction, determined to salvage a spent season. Manvero died by the sword, as they weren't able to score enough goals to get by the Kings.

Quarterfinals
1 Iona Spaceport Defenders 4–1 44 CPD Temlwyr Bangor
7 Iriwati Panthers 5–0 40 Wurlington Dynamos
14 Iona Junction Spiders 4–3 33 Treharris
18 Kings Castell-Nedd 1–1 28 Loittra (1–1 AET) (4–5 pen.)

Little-known Michael Robeson of Iona Junction scored a hat-trick as the Spiders are in the Semifinals. Iriwati exploded for five goals, Rayon scoring three. The Defenders, though, are looking for a Tripe Crown this season...

Semifinals
1 Iona Spaceport Defenders 5–2 28 Loittra
7 Iriwati Panthers 1–0 14 Iona Junction Spiders

It will be an all-Falconfar final at the Unification Dome in Tynr, Falconear, as the Defenders will look for another sound outing from Didier. Iriwati edged the Spiders to deny the Spiders the chance for an all-Iona final, the second cup semifinal this season the Spiders have lost. Iona Spaceport vs. Iriwati it will be.

Championship @ The Unification Dome, Tynr, Falconear, Unified Falcon
1 Iona Spaceport Defenders 0–0 7 Iriwati Panthers (0–0 AET) (4–2 pen.)

The Defenders have accomplished the Triple Crown! Although the Panthers held Garland-Hart and company for one hundred and twenty minutes, Didier was a better goalkeeper than his counterpart. With the continuing dominance of Iona Spaceport despite the merger, a dynasty may be forming...

It was another offseason of major changes, with big foreign companies beginning to invest a lot of money into the Cotdelapomais game, but there was little player movement into the league- the biggest names entering into the league were Ed from New Montreal States headed to Tout-Puissant Outremont, Pwim Charbonneau also from NMS heading to Cosmopolitan, and a handful of Virabis headed to assorted places. Young Jean-Éric Villeneuve from Polar Islandstates was not a particularly heralded signing when Cap Nordique brought him over, but he may have been the young player of the season after getting considerable minutes for the surprising 2nd place finishers.

PLAYOFF
QUARTER FINAL
Tout-Puissant Outremont 2–1 Charlevoix
Cap Nordique 3–2 Montréal
Sparta 1–0 Maritime
Worcester Hearts 6–3 Cosmopolitan

The quarter final was most notable for two matches- Cap Nordique's victory over the defending champs, and Worcester Hearts scoring more goals in one playoff match than they seemingly did all season, notching over 3 times their season average. Hearts' general karela style went out the window in the quarter final, confusing Cosmos with an all out attack that nobody had seen all season- Miron Stefanyshyn's greatest trick of all. Jackson Diawara scored the first ever Série A playoff hat trick, and Hearts also got a rare goal from Noë Rénault.

Cap Nordique, the shock team of the season proved that they were a force to reckoned with in the playoff by eliminating Montréal. Nickolas Malenfant had a breakout season, and scored a wonder goal to win the match and knock out the defending champions. Malenfant's bicycle kick directly over Dermot O'Brien was an absolute shocker, a clear goal of the year candidate even out of the playoff context, and Cap Nordique's celebration spilled into the ecstatic crowd.

SEMI FINAL
Tout-Puissant Outremont 2–1 Worcester Hearts
Cap Nordique 3–3 Sparta (3–3 AET) (4–2 pen.)

In a battle of superclubs in Outremont, Tout-Puissant flattered Hearts with the 2-1 scoreline, as the match was never really in doubt. Just 7 minutes in, they scored their first goal when Rafa Robledo's free kick was headed in brilliantly by Erubiel Navarro. Just 5 minutes later, Kristján Dagenais poached one in the box from a great delivery by Alexandre Dalomax. Outremont held a 61-39 possession advantage at halftime, to give you an idea as to how dominant they were. They never quite took their foot off of Worcester's throats, but Hearts did get one back in the 85th minute- Junior Conteh delivered a curling ball into the box that René Wright-Efans bit on and Diego Mordasini tipped it into the net.

Meanwhile, Cap Nordique's giant killing ways continued, winning a track meet against favoured Sparta. Sparta's defence is old and looked it against Cap Nordique, who took it right to the Reds. They stretched the field and passed well, and got two splendid finishes from Nickolas Malenfant, who seemed to make mince meat of ageing Sev Alves. 90 minutes was not enough to settle it, and neither was 120, so it went to penalty kicks, where Diedrich Djurgarden came up huge- turning away Mickaël Cournoyer and Hachiro Tsukino, whereas Cap Nordique's players scored on all four kicks.

FINAL
Tout-Puissant Outremont 2–2 Cap Nordique (2–2 AET) (3–5 pen.)

Jonathan Watson has been an excellent footballer for a long time, playing in Cotdelapoms and Aguazul. He's played extensive time for the national team and for Cap Nordique, which he considers his "home" (despite being from Worcester). There can be no more stressful moment than being put on the penalty spot and knowing that scoring a goal can win your "home" team their very first ever championship. A championship where your team would beat a team with a much bigger budget, in a much bigger stadium. A championship that would allow your club to play in their first ever Champions' Cup.

You step up, and you see your national team teammate René Wright-Efans standing in the goal- the best goalkeeper in the country.

You stare him down, and you decide to go right.

You step forward, back again and take your shot...

SECOND HALF SUMMARY

THROUGH MATCHDAY 16:
Strike quickly crawled up to the 2nd position with a 2-0 win on Matchday 14, sitting 2 points behind leaders Cednia Beach. However, the 8 match unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Arcticala Inlet as Cednia Beach extended their lead to 3 points.
Kiiarana recorded their second victory over Jlinal Cove to keep pace with the pack and all but seal Jlinal's Declasse fate for Season 32.

A small gap was created between the top 4 and the next 3 after Matchday 16 when Makosile defeated Turoki United to move up to the second position, 2 points behind Cednia Beach, with Strike FC and Arcticala Inlet within 3 points of the leaders.

Jlinal Cove finally got on the board with their first victory of the season, a 3-0 thrashing of Kiiara-Torra who fell closer towards the reach of relegation threatened rivals Kiiarana.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 20:

After staying with the pack all season long, Makosile made their move on Matchday 19 taking all three points from Strike at the Track Venture Field in Sile. Mangolana's JD Fuller scored the only goal of the match as the Makos moved to the top of the table for the first time, 2 points clear of Cednia Beach and the full 6 points ahead of the defending champions.

They didn't last long at the top however, dropping an upset result to Mliona-Lpaka allowing Cednia Beach to return to the top of the table entering the final six games. Elsewhere, the Turoki Tide won the Turoki Derby over Turoki United to slide up into the third position ahead of Strike who were held to a draw.

THE STRETCH RUN:

The two title leaders met on Matchday 21 at the Track Venture Field in Sile and put on a remarkable show, with Cednia Beach taking the early lead, only for the home side to come back and take a 2-1 lead at the half. Cednia Beach's Merlin Salomon equalized but Makosile would not be denied and took the 3-2 victory to regain control atop the table.

Cednia Beach lost ground on Matchday 22 as they fell 2-0 to Strike at the Cednia Beach Center. Strike gained the most on the day as Makosile were held 1-1 by 3rd plae side Turoki Tide, allowing the Venom to close the gap on the top 3. At the other end of the table, Kiiarana climbed easily to safety with a convincing 2-0 victory over Kiiara-Torra, dropping Kiiara-Torra down into the relegation zone.

Makosile headed into their rivals home stadium, Colonial Field in Sile, to take on Colonial Sile in what could become the most important match in club history. With a victory, Makosile could clinch their first ever Stellar Division Championship.

The match started promisingly for Makosile who took the early lead but Colonial Sile equalized to bring the match 1-1 at the half.

Things got tense as the Makosile fans feared having Turoki Tide or Cednia Beach within reach on the final matchday, but the rival contingent got what they came for in stoppage time as Makosile scored the winner and clinched their first ever Stellar Division title.

13. Kiiara-Torra (22)
14. Jlinal Cove (12) [RELEGATED]

THE FINAL MATCHDAY:

Champions Makosile were still suffering a bit of a hangover much to the dismay of Kiiara-Torra supporters as Nusira Lionta were able to use their victory over Makosile to climb out of the relegation zone, condemning Kiiara-Torra.

The Turoki Tide, easily handling relegated Jlinal Cove, finished just one point behind Makosile. The most critical match would be played at the Lirai Asku Castle where the Yeaddin Owls hosted Strike in a champions league decider - Strike, going into the match 1 point ahead of the Owls, needed to avoid defeat to maintain their Champions League place while the Owls needed a victory to qualify for UICA's primary international competition.

As expected, it was a tense and tight affair, with Strike eventually doing enough through Tiika Diirotora to keep their Champions League place and send the Owls to the Globe Cup.

Vilitan Cup Round 2:

Non-Leaguers Mara Seraai claimed an upset 2-1 victory over Eastal Lunar to advance to the Round of 16 for the first time in club history. Lonngeylin Coast, Arcticala Inlet, Lopinka, Makosile and Jlinal Cove also advanced to the Round of 16.

UICA Qualifications

CC: Haitiëns
GC: Saracen FC, Extramarine, Un Chien Andalou School
SB: Black Throats, Cabin Boys, Students of Sixteen Bits, Tangent Asyluum

Senior Championship Standings
It's two Senior Championship titles in a row for Haitiëns in a tightly contested finish, this year's main post-season competition considered the most thrilling yet, with six or seven teams in contention right up to the last day. Extramarine continue their impressive record in post-season though they would've hoped to have stopped the Dollies from matching their own back-to-back titles. Hassan i Sabbah's favourites, Saracen FC, do well to qualify for UICA at the first attempt while Un Chien Andalou School prove beyond doubt they are the best Varisty has to offer, preventing a Haphazard clean sweep of qualifications ahead of the Old Fellas and Arkham.

Junior Championship Standings
Black Throats may have just sneaked in to the promotion spots on the last day of regular season but the boys from Vesuvian County were the form team going into the Junior Championships, ending up as Junior Champions. It's good to see Students of Sixteen Bits back in their rightful place in the Series B Cup, but no such joy for their emergent rivals the Young Horses, who ran out of steam in the crucial final month of post-season football. Once more an ursine team fails to match their regular season dominance as Royal Monster FC miss out on UICA.

The Senior Championships always opens with the Despite Trophy, between the winners of the Alumni and Inter-Faculty Football Leagues, to decide the Varsity Champions. This game is also game 1 of the Championships, played a day ahead of the rest of the programme. All games in the championships are played on neutral grounds.

Despite Trophy

Un Chien Andalou School 1-0 Old Fellateians

Previous Winners

404Old Fellateians 0-1 Tanguy School of Architecture
405Old Fellateians 0-1 Faculty of Geodimensions
406Un Chien Andalou School 0–1 Rear Admirals

The Dogs take the old trophy back to the Inter-Faculty after a narrow upset win over the previously all-conquering Old Fellas, who suffer their third Despite Trophy defeat in four seasons. For Un Chien Andalou School it rights the surprise defeat they suffered in their first final, last season, and puts the Inter-Faculty back in front with three titles to the Alumni's two.

1093-94 Charmunnry football season

Having hit twenty years of age, organised football within Ancharmunn continues to grow at a steady, though slow, pace and can perhaps best of all can claim to officially be better than football in near neighbours Ossidiacqua. There are two main competitions in the country, the fourteen team National Soccer League and the All-Ancharmunn Challenge Cup which sees thirty-two teams competing on a knockout basis. Whilst a Junior League, split into two regional divisions, exists below the NSL it is essentially a glorified Sunday League and no movement between the NSL and Junior League occurs. Junior League members do however participate in the Challenge Cup.

During its existence Charmunnry football has been largely amateur, however the influx in recent years of Sorthern immigration to the country has bought a degree of professionalism to the sport. As a result of this Charmunnry football has begun participating on a worldwide and regional scale by joining UICA and regional competitions. Three seasons of this was supposed to have improved the quality of the sport drastically, and results are beginning to be seen. University researches have shown a direct correlation between the number of pigeons dying in the vicinity of football grounds and more controlled clearances by agricultural defenders.

Tyneala Championship
Code: Select all
1092 Ballymairead Town 1–1 Pentref-ar-y-Bae (1–1 AET) (4–3 pen.) - Old Chicken Ranch
1091 Doversham County 3-2 Ballymairead Town - Bank of Aels Arena
1090 Goidelic 0-1 Trechoid Wanderers – Paradise

Following a brief stint in Ancharmunn the Tyneala Championship returns to Aels for the third time in four years. It is at this point that Charmunnry football has collectively decided that the Championship is a mere irrelevance and it's nice to give the Aelsh folk their occasional day in the sun anyway.

Well, well, well, who would've thought that at the start of the season? Both the top and bottom places proved to be of immense surprise. Ballymairead Town started the season off poorly much to the amusement of just about anyone of a non-Town hue, but most assumed they'd eventually pick themselves up and race back up the table. They never did and even with the dust settled on the season there remains a sense of bafflement at exactly how they've managed to fall so quickly.

There was meanwhile a time when Dinas Drefhil meanwhile were considered odds-on favourites for the championship every year. That time though was when they were playing in the Aelsh league system and since moving to Ancharmunn they've been the very definition of mid-table mediocrity. It was some shock that then seemingly out of nowhere they've remembered how to win a title and how they managed to do so reasonably comfortably in the end.

For a team seeking to avoid an utter disaster of a season the cup couldn't have proven to be much worse for Ballymairead Town. Goidelic showed a couple of seasons ago how cup success and at least numb league failure, but as defending champions Town fell at the first hurdle. The one saving grace they can take though is that the defeat proved to be Caernankry City's first step on the road to claiming the trophy. In many ways the cup proved to be a victory for attritional football, the final needed penalties to settle it, whilst Caernankry only defeated one opponents by more than one goal en route to it. Beaten finalists Red Star meanwhile went to extra time three times in five matches.

I'm not on the Greenwich Meridian so my time is a few seconds behind. Bear that in mind.
