World Indoor Soccer Championships V
CAMWOOD

Welcome to the fifth edition of the World Indoor Soccer Championships, held in some of the best hockey arenas around Camwood. This edition if the W.I.S.C. will entail thirty six teams being split into six groups of six. Each group winner, plus two wildcards will enter the quarterfinals and continue in a standard elimination round.

Roleplays will be rated on a scale of one to five using the absolute formula in xkorante. I will have the percentage of effect double to 30% to entice Roleplay. Quality and Creativity will be weighed over length of roleplays.

All participants will are invited to post a roster. Please include a set of Roleplay Permissions, including if your opponents may injury, eject, or otherwise godmod events about your squad and/or players.

The group draw is set to be posted later tonight, until then get your Rosters posted!

Giovani has been asked to take over management of the sixteenth ranked team in the world. She encourages a fast-flowing style that has the underlying principle of "if you score more than the other team, you win". She has made it clear that she is to be followed unconditionally, abolishing the assistant manager position and grooming her players to follow her style of play. The Yesopalitha Sports Committee is willing to give her one shot to prove that her style of coaching can indeed be productive...

Samuel caught the eye of Givani when she observed him playing street ball in Freedom's Altar. Gifted with unnatural quickness and athleticism, Tovalí is the type of goalkeeper this team needs, for he will face a lot of shots one on one. Not a people person, he can be distant and aloof at times, but he seems to be the man for the job.

Left Defender: #1 Pédro Martin Age: 22 M
Best at one-on-one defense, Martin can also shoot from over thirty yards with deadly accuracy, making him a wild-card scoring threat. Mostly, though, he will be tasked with keeping Samuel clean.

Right Defender: #2 Anna Petrovich Age: 25 F
Listed at 6 feet, 7 inches, Anna is a giant of a player with a slender frame. She can cover ground very quickly, and is also #1 on the team in stamina. She shines late at games when her charging demeanor catches opponents off guard, leading to great chances for the Flames.

Left Forward: #3 Janice Rénée Age: 19 F
A student at Freedom's Altar University, Janice has been scouted by the U-21 National Team, but declined a position on there for the honor of playing for this squad. Her footwork is second to no other on this squad, and her ingenuity and instinct makes her one of the purest strikers in Yesopalitha. Many club teams are looking to sign her, but she has put them all on hold while she tries to help this team chase glory in Camwood.

Right Forward: #4 Roger Mellet Age: 30 M Captain
With all the youth on the team, Mellet is the veteran. He has been playing indoor soccer competitively for over ten years. A bit gruff at times, he is actually a kind man; his drive is compelling, and he is willing to do anything in order to win. His teammates voted him Captain not just because of his seniority, but also his command over the game that has come from experience.

Though ranked second in their group, the Lightning will have their hands full, having to deal with Group-Leaders 95X as well as four up-and-coming teams into the competition. With the authorities deciding that only the group winners and the top two second-place teams will be advancing to the quarterfinals, every game will mean the difference between advancing and going back home to Yesopalitha for this team.

Manager Giovani had some distinctive advice for each member of her squad:

Tovalí - Don't be afraid of one-on-one situations, and be calm. The Lightning will generally score more goals than their opponents, so conceding a goal or two is not the end of the world. Don't lose your head, keep focused, and he should do fine.

Martin - Press forward and help with the attack. It is not his job to help Tovalí in the goal. With our style of play, goals are worth more than saving goals, and we need another player up front to help the forwards.

Petrovich - Don't play soft. She has to learn to tackle opposing players sometimes and not just go for the ball. Playing soft will be counted as a weakness by many opposing sides, and hence she may be attacked by opposing teams more than Martin is.

Rénée - She needs to learn to trust her instincts and take the shot, no matter how ridiculous it seems. When she trusts herself, she can make the ball go to some obscure places and then bend back for the goal. When she learns to just let it go, and not rely on technical mastery alone, that is when she will take the next step in turning from a good player to a great one.

Mellet - Don't let age dictate everything. It is true that he is the oldest player on the team by far, but he is also the most experienced. His teammates will be looking up to him, expecting him to lead by example. This team will go as he goes, and he needs to understand that.

Has lead the Zealots, a primarily second-tier, fifth through eight place team, to back-to-back titles. Believes in the run-and-shoot game, but always likes to stick one defender back to help the goal.

Conceded the fewest goals in the DDIFF this season, with 93, which sounds like a lot, but with the quality of play the DDIFF establishes (ultra-high offensive), he is very good at what he does. Decent at one-one-one situations, good at set pieces.

The best one-on-one defender in Terrabis. Thrives in high-pressure environment, and also possesses a good passing ability.

One of the reasons that the Captains were the surprise team this season. Possesses ability to glide through empty space and press the ball forward for the offense to take advantage of. Quite a character.

Forward: Bían Dyke, Generals
Scored over seventy goals over the season, about half the team's total. The purest scorer in the DDIFF. Creates opportunities from what seems like nothing.

WISC-5 Tournament Squad

It has been seven years since the fall of Tamarindia, just after the third World Indoor Soccer Championships was successfully hosted in the country, when the 80-year reign of the beloved Dictablanda, Doctor James Sunshine, was ended by his sudden and unforeseen death at the ripe old age of 140-something. The country immediately fell into a stricken state of mourning, and has been closed to the world ever since. What has happened inside the country remains largely a mystery, although the rebuilding of the collapsed state was immediately proposed by Tamarindia's highly advanced and generally isolationist neighbour, Kukalaya. The mysterious and massive Oroboros Co-operative, the investment arm of the Wightling Commonwealth with a major base in Kukalaya, was deployed to the rebuilding programme. Already with Co-operative members as heads of state in Kukalaya and Zenega, Oroboros has effectively taken over the governance of the land of the jumping monkey. A mass emigration occurred in the first three years of the fall, until Oroboros sealed the borders. This team of amateur players, selected by the Co-operative, are the first official tourists to get visas to leave Tamarindia in four years.

GROUP A - Wesbrooks Forum (Cap. 32,000) ~ Compolis, Camwood
Home to the Compolis Metropolitan Hockey Squad, the Wesbrooks Forum is a shiny new hockey arena in the industrious city of Compolis. The Wesbrooks Forum is sponsored by the computer company Wesbrooks, and named after the company's main stream product, 'The Forum' a revolutionary laptop on sale across Camwood. This arena seats thirty two thousand, with bleacher air conditioning/heating and personal cup holders.

GROUP B - Chocomilk Hockey Palace (Cap. 37,000) ~ Port Kostas, Camwood
The Chocomilk Hockey Palace was built before the previous edition of the World Cup of Hockey to host the Camians on their campaign. The C.H.P. is home to the Port Kostas Mates hockey team, and the Port Kostas Buccaneers basketball side. All spectators get access to premium Chocomilk products, free with every ticket.

GROUP C - Dynamo Dome (Cap. 50,000) ~ Vanler, Camwood
This huge, multi purpose indoor arena, is used for almost every sport based out of Vanler. When seating hockey games, the Dynamo Dome can hold up to fifty thousand spectators. The Dynamo Dome is the proud home of the Vanler Dynamo football club as well. The stadium also has a retractable roof, which depending on the weather, may or may not be in use during the Championships.

GROUP D - Montrique Civic Center (Cap. 24,000) ~ Montrique, Camwood
The Montrique Civic Center is a mid sized arena in the northern city of Montrique, Quebeca, Camwood. The M.C.C., as it is referee to, hosts the Montrique Camiens on a regular basis. The M.C.C. also has areas for curling and its unique architecture makes it a cathedral for winter sports.

GROUP E - Olympian Centre Arena (Cap. 19,000) ~ New Athens, Camwood
The Olympian Centre Arena was originally built to be the national arena for the national hockey and basketball teams, but that fell through after the Chocomilk Hockey Palace was built. So, the Olympian Centre is a small outfit that hosts the New Athens Warriors, one of hockey's most famous clubs ever. The O.C.A. features drink holders and cushioned seats in order to provide the arena its luxurious feel that it is nationally famous for.

GROUP F - The National Center (Cap. 20,000) ~ Clemson, Camwood
Located in the capital of Camwood, the national center, is perhaps the nation's most renowned arena and conference center. The National Center is the home to the Clemson Senators hockey club, and the Camian Handball Association, a two team league that is nearly non existent. However, the National Center is probably the country's most expensive stadiums, featuring marble walkways, and cushioned seating.

Mashiki's WISC5 Roster

Many teenagers in Mashiki like to play out on the streets and play football (instead of causing trouble). So we decided to invite them to a game of futsal (indoor soccer) at te local sports centre. They destroyed the local teams, so they were picked to represent Mashiki at this competition. Everyone looks after themselves, so they decided to opt not to pick a manager. The team is:

GK Lima Perusia - Capable of withstanding pressure situations well due to his rough backgrounds.
DF Bantza Hashpal - Strong and rough due to his experiences and confrontation with gangs and bullies.
DF Hoshkoo Intagi - Quiet but powerful, always comes up with something amazing when you're least expecting it. Thought of as the star player.
OF Driskal Pishket - Powerhouse of a striker, never fails to score. Raw strength intimidates the opponent.
OF Milyaj Kristok - Experiences with Mashiki's largest underground drug dealership has taught him a few lessons in life. Wants a new start.

A Little About the Team
Most of the players are returning to indoor soccer from the 95X appearance in WISC 4. Xi Foureleven is notable for being the only woman to make this team, after representing 95X on our WWISC 2 squad. Don't let that fool anyone, she's developed an aggressive playing style that occasionally leads to penalties. A total newcomer to the team is backup Victor/Vincent Smith, who has two names to go along with his two heads.
