Welcome to Ethane

Ethane, also known by the chemical formula attributed to its name, is a democratic, politically divided nation located in the region of Esportiva, home to 20 million people. Having recently gone through a period of change, with the long-standing Liberal-Democratic Party, a centrist party committed to increasing defence spending and the economy to the detriment of the environment and social security, being voted out in favour of the left-wing Greener Ethane party, who are more committed to improving the environment and education. However, with the rise of the far-right in the new election of MoralEthane!, this position is being reversed.

The capital city of Ethane is New Sarum, which is home to about 2 million inhabitants, and is adjacent to the major tourist site of Old Sarum, also near to StoneHedge. There are many cities and towns scattered around the nation, spread out, with the largest city located about 250 miles from New Sarum, in Swanmouth, home to about 3 million people. The Isle of Lowe is home to about 400,000 people itself, and is regarded as 'the most beautiful part of Ethane' - most of the Island is wild, and has multiple small 'wild' islands alongside it.

Ethane is famous in many ways, notably for its sporting appearances, which has seen the nation start to become recognised in sporting fields around the world, as well as its performances at Worldvision and the World Hit Festival. The nation is also known for its high living standards, strong economy, specialising in Information Technology, in which it has one of the largest of the IT sectors in Esportiva, and Publishing, its educational standards, and its move towards green energy, which the government is aiming for a 100% renewables in the next 25 years. It is currently around 40% renewable energy. However, this may not continue after the election.

Transportation
The transport in Ethane benefits from high levels of government funding which benefit the quality of service, with private companies also consolidating the transport network in Ethane. Most of the large cities in Ethane have strong public transport links within them, heavily subsidised buses being the most commonly used way to get around. Also in the two main cities, New Sarum and Swanmouth, eco-friendly modes of transport are also available to be used, including bikes which can be hired and dropped off at later stages along your cycling route.

Bus services also cover most moderately sized towns, with rural areas and small towns and villages being covered by less regular bus services which operate out of a main town or city nearby. There are many long-distance routes also available in Ethane, between many of the major cities and towns, which often stop at rural locations to increase the coverage of the bus service.

Trains also provide a viable option for transport in Ethane, connecting many of the main cities and towns, and providing a cheap, fast, and environmentally friendly way to travel around Ethane. ChemRail provides a fast and reliable train journey between stations, but if you are looking for better quality, or high-speed trains then the best place to look is towards the private companies. The rails have all been electrified, providing an environmentally friendly way of transporting people around the nation.

For longer haul journeys from other nations, we do have a few airports across the country, albeit they are fairly small due to the regulations placed on plane emissions. HITAir provides a strong service to many major countries around the multiverse, with regular flights allowing fans to stream in for the championships. Most transport is state owned in Ethane, so the if the quality is not as expected, feel free to complain to the government.

Hotels
With the tourist industry booming once again, hotels are once again back in action, with a range of places for those visiting to stay. From 2* hotels to 5* hotels, we strive to provide you with the best accommodation possible. There is the option of either going state funded hotels, or you can go with the private sector.

Food and Drink
There are many places to eat in Ethane, with many restaurants and fast food chains all over Ethane. There are multiple places you can eat at, including the locally born restaurant and fast food chain, Treaters, who have signed a contract with Superchaps of Oisinistan to open a load of their franchises in Ethane, providing an even larger range of food to eat. With multiple food venues across the country, you are sure to find something to your liking.

Entertainment
There are many things you can do while in Ethane for entertainment away from the International Basketball Championships.

In New Sarum, we have multiple cinema and bowling complexes for the enjoyment of our visitors and residents alike, which are often relatively popular. There are many other entertainment complexes in New Sarum as well, which more can be found out about in the tourist information centre. Nearby to New Sarum, you have the historic castle fort of Old Sarum, which provides a good day out, as it is located in the centre of a large wildlife reserve, which is a place where you can often see rare animals lurking about. StoneHedge is also popular and nearby to New Sarum, providing a good family afternoon out, with activities for everyone, and special events running throughout the tournament.

Swanmouth also provides visitors with a great many visitor attractions to visit as well as entertainment complexes. The city itself is also only a 45 minute bus journey away from one of Ethane's finest national parks, the Glade Forest. This provides a good place for walks, as well as adventurous activities and bike hire, as well as being a good place for camping holidays. Further away from this event, you have the fairly mountainous regions of the nation, especially on the island, which provide spectacular views for those visiting, and can have snow on in the winter for skiing.

Bem-vindo!
Welcome!

The Second Brazilian Empire is a massive coastal nation with 40 states spread through Africa, Europe, and South America, inhabited by 342 million of people from different civilizations, with a huge diversity of animals and environments, including equatorial forests, deserts, tundra, and savanna; ice, rain, and sand, all united under one banner, one anthem. Portuguese is the official language and one of the 5 national languages, along with Spanish, Arabic, Danish, and Greenlandic. Rio de Janeiro is the capital, a tropical beach and the second biggest city in the country. The United Kingdom of the Second Brazilian Empire - which trigram is SBE - is relatively new to the international scenario of the multiverse and the first soccer tournament of the nation was catastrophic, just like the second attempt; respectively, the Global Cup of Soccer 2 and the Campionato Esportiva 19. Brazilian clubs already took part in the three UICA competitions and in the Cygnus Cup - the Cup Winners' Cup - but they were worse than the national team. However, national clubs were proven to be very successful in the MultiNation Cup, a championship held among the best teams of the eight countries members of the Multiversal Non-aggression Pact - the MNAP.

The Country doesn't have a national pyramid for beach soccer yet the sport is extremely popular within our borders. In the famous Copacabana Beach, located in Rio de Janeiro, there's a purpose-built stadium with a total capacity of 10,000, one of the biggest permanent beach soccer stadiums ever constructed. Don't worry about crime: the Second Brazilian Empire has the 7th biggest employment rates of Esportiva and it's one of the most inclusive nations in the multiverse, despite its giant income inequality rate. Youth rebelliousness is also one of the lowest in Esportiva, scoring -8 in the Stark-Dean Displacement Index. Important industries include tourism, communication technology, gambling, and mining. In your free time, you can visit the National Library, the Monarchic Casino, the Summer Palace, the "Pão de Açúcar", the biggest association football stadium in the country - "O Equatoriano" - and, the most remarkable of all, the Royal Palace, where the Emperor is always open for a civilized conversation.

Transportation

The Empire has privately managed transportation, which is comprised of a vast system of highways, roads, and railways. Buses and subways are under governmental control. The country has many highways and railways, such as the Montevideo-Salvador railway (interconnecting the Southern and Northeastern regions) and the EstradaAmazônica, connecting the entire Brazilian Amazon Forest. However, you should get fine by traveling alone by car - it's the cheapest mean of transportation nowadays.

Restaurants

There are plenty restaurants to visit in Brazil, with family-owned restaurant chains easily surpassing fast foods and foreign chains. In just one neighborhood you can find different restaurants from various cuisines, including Brazilian, Japanese, Italian, and French cuisine. A typical everyday meal in Brazil consists mostly of rice and beans with beef, salad, french fries and a fried egg.

Brazilian cuisine varies greatly by region, reflecting the country's varying mix of indigenous and immigrant populations. This has created a national cuisine marked by the preservation of regional differences. Examples are the Feijoada, considered the country's national dish and very popular in Rio de Janeiro. The national beverage is coffee and cachaça is Brazil's native liquor - Cachaça is distilled from sugar cane and is the main ingredient in the national cocktail, Caipirinha.

Manager: Peté (72 years old) - Despite being an association football veteran who played his entire career for Portuários de Santos - the most successful club in the 2nd Brazilian Empire - Peté had the prestige to be one of the players who took part in the first official beach soccer match ever back in 1992. While he scored much more than one thousand goals in his professional soccer career, he never had success in beach soccer and officially abandoned sports in 1995. Peté is also the current manager of the Brazilian Association Football National Team, where he had little success in the Campionato Esportiva 19.

FW: Hamza Hussain (23 years old) - A Brazilian son of immigrants, Hussain was prematurely born in the middle of a ship trip from São Paulo to Portugal. He is the young premise of the Brazilian national team and scored 27 goals in 23 caps for his local beach soccer team, Praia Portuária.

I give my opponent permission to:
Choose my goalscorers: Y, but prefer best Forwards. Montagny, Verlaine and Rajatowski are Association Football players and have pretty good ball control. Henessey have a strong foot, but less ball control and less aim in shots. Other ones are common guys.

Otherwise this, you are free to do anything that doesn't end in a permanent injury or death for any member of Alice Bay delegation.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL BEACH FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the third time that the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft will be participating in a beach football tournament, even though the country has established an international football culture that has currently culminated with two appearances in the World Cup. Beach football doesn't have much of a following in the Democratic Republic because most of the country is located in the Antarctic, but there are a few regions in the country (such as the Myleishi Plateau Provinces and Trendstart) where the sport has developed a cult following. Trendstart, as an archipelago colony, seems an obvious place for the sport to develop, but it is in the Myleishi Plateau Provinces, especially Myleikaf, where the sport has grown popular enough to compete with the other "regular" sports such as actual football, basketball, baseball, and handegg gridiron football.

The national beach football team is where Radoslaw Montwill has ended up after being sacked as the national U-21 team manager for a controversial decision that he made more than a few years ago. Once again, he manages a mixed bag of male and female footie players, but this time the Fleftic Football Federation has made sure that Montwill's fateful decision (which shall not be described) will not happen again.

Most of the players for the national team are either from Selid B.F.C. in Myleikaf and Antslinngs Islands B.F.C. in Trendstart, but there are some players that are currently playing in international leagues, although all these leagues are actually just in countries within the Fleftic sphere of influence.

Federation Assembly Arena, Republica, Free Republics

The consequences of the FFR's recent decision to join the World Assembly were felt acutely in the Federation Assembly. The Assembly, which consisted of 10,173 members all elected via proportional representation by the Republican people, had spent days debating whether to ratify the decision by Consul Nicholls to join the WA in order to increase the international influence of the FFR. Ultimately, the Assembly approved WA membership by a 5103 to 5070 vote and shortly thereafter the Senate approved the Consul's decision, with approximately 60% of its members voting in favor. However, in order to get the legislation through the Assembly, Speaker Patrizia Genovese (Moderate Liberal Conservative) had to attach a rider declaring that the Federation Constitution shall supersede WA law where they conflict. Fortunately, the WA bureaucrats did not notice this and approved the FFR's ascension to full membership and a spot as Lunia's regional representative on the WA Delegate Council.

Unfortunately for these politicians, joining the WA was just the beginning. Suddenly, they found that they needed to review 400 resolutions line-by-line, determine where they conflicted with Federation statutory law and amend the law accordingly. In order to accomplish this task, Speaker Genovese pushed through a piece of legislation creating the Assembly Committee for Harmonization (ACH). The ACH would consist of a total of 125 members, apportioned to each party proportionately to their share of Assembly seats won at the last election. The Speaker agreed to personally chair the ACH and the legislation passed the Assembly unanimously via a voice vote. Within a week, the parties had appointed members of the new committee, which began meeting to address the urgent matter of compliance with WA resolutions.

Speaker Genovese - I now call the Committee for Harmonization to order. I believe we all know why we are here today, so I will skip the formalities and ask the clerk to read the first resolution of the WA's General Assembly.

Clerk - This resolution is entitled The World Assembly and is considered a bookkeeping resolution.

The Adopted Nations of the World Assembly,

NOTING that the United Nations has spectacularly imploded in a colossal fireball of extra-dimensional inanity;

BELIEVING that there is a vital and needed role for a global organizational body;

FURTHER NOTING that there are an awful lot of United Nations Resolutions;

FURTHER BELIEVING that the demise of the United Nations may be fashioned into a grand opportunity for nations to draw a new destiny;

HEREBY

1. ESTABLISHES the World Assembly as the natural successor to the United Nations, with the full transfer of all Delegate ranks and associated endorsements;

2. ARCHIVES all previously passed UN Resolutions for historical purposes, so that citizens of today may forever look back upon the masterwork of their ancestors;

3. DECLARES the pages of international law to be blank;

4. INVITES members of the World Assembly to begin work on a new volume, which may in time exceed even the grandeur of its predecessor.

Leonid Alekseyeva (Salvation Circle) - The demise of the United Nations was the Will of God and one day He will do the same to the World Assembly. I urge my colleagues to cease this futile effort to harmonize our laws with those of this Satanic entity.

Moe Williamson (Progressive) - I remind my colleague from the Salvation Circle that we are now members of the World Assembly and, as such, are subject to its laws. I urge the Speaker to move on to the next resolution, as this resolution is irrelevant for the purposes of this committee.

Speaker Genovese - Good point, sir. We will move onto the second World Assembly resolution. Clerk, please read the resolution.

Clerk - This resolution is entitled Rights And Duties Of WA States and is considered a "Political Stability" resolution:

World Assembly membership in NationStates is a choice, not a requirement. Those of us who chose to participate have certain responsibilities to ourselves, each other, and the entire NationStates community. At the same time, we as NationStates have certain rights and responsibilities that we do not willingly relinquish when we chose to join the World Assembly.

It is therefore vital to clearly delineate what constitutes sovereign law versus international law passed by this World Assembly. This document will attempt to enumerate those most basic of rights, as they exist within and as defined by the World Assembly of NationStates.

A Declaration on Rights and Duties of WA States:

Section I:

The Principle of National Sovereignty:

Article 1 § Every WA Member State has the right to independence and hence to exercise freely, without dictation by any other NationState, all its legal powers, including the choice of its own form of government.

Article 2 § Every WA Member State has the right to exercise jurisdiction over its territory and over all persons and things therein, subject to the immunities recognized by international law.

Article 3 § Every WA Member State has the duty to refrain from unrequested intervention in the internal or external economic, political, religious, and social affairs of any other NationState, subject to the immunities recognized by international law.

Section II:

Rights and Duties in War:

Article 4 § Every WA Member State has the right of individual or collective self-defense against armed attack.

Article 5 § War in the World of NationStates is defined as a consensual act between two or more NationStates. WA Member States may, at their discretion, intercede against declarations of war on behalf of NationStates who wish to avoid war.

Article 6 § Every WA Member State has the duty to refrain from fomenting civil strife in the territory of another NationState, and to prevent the organization within its territory of activities calculated to foment such civil strife.

Article 7 § Every WA Member State has the duty to refrain from giving assistance to any NationState which is acting in violation of Article 5 or 6. Every WA Member State has the duty to refrain from recognizing any territorial acquisition by another NationState acting in violation of Article 5 or 6.

Section III:

The Role of the World Assembly:

Article 8 § Every WA Member State has the right to equality in law with every other WA Member State.

Article 9 § Every WA Member State has the duty to carry out in good faith its obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law, including this World Assembly, and it may not invoke provisions in its constitution or its laws as an excuse for failure to perform this duty.

Article 10 § Whilst WA Member States may engage in wars, the World Assembly as a body maintains neutrality in matters of civil and international strife. As such, the WA will not engage in commanding, organising, ratifying, denouncing, or otherwise participating in armed conflicts, police actions, or military activities under the WA banner.

Article 11 § Every WA Member State has the duty to conduct its relations with other NationStates in accordance with international law and with the principle that the sovereignty of each WA Member State is subject to the supremacy of international law.

Cerys Davison (Patriotic) - While I'm relieved that the WA is barred from having a military, I am disturbed by the WA's definition of war. How in the hell is war a consensual act? What nation is going to consent to being invaded?

Monique Cartier (Progressive) - I disagree with my fascist colleague. Requiring wars to be consensual is a fine idea. We ought to consider adopting this.

Greg Belisle (Liberty) - I can't believe what I'm hearing. Of course, war isn't consensual but it is a good idea to avoid war, especially when no national interests are at stake.

Speaker Genovese - I fail to see any reason to continue debating this resolution. Nothing in it is relevant to our laws. We're not currently at war with any non-consenting nations and we recognize the Supremacy of the Constitution, not the Supremacy of International Law. I ask for unanimous consent to consider the next resolution.

Speaker Genovese - Without objection, I move to order the reading of the 3rd WA resolution.

Clerk - Unfortunately, Madame Speaker, the 3rd WA resolution, which regarded the right to a fair trial, has been repealed.

As the clerk said that, some member of the committee shouted "Those bastards!"

Clerk - Consequently, I will be moving on to Resolution #4, entitled Restrictions On Child Labor, which is considered a "human rights" resolution:

Understanding that certain nations may wish to employ or allow the employment of children;

Realizing that employment in certain industries can cause a child's well being and future to be in jeopardy;

Believing that it is morally reprehensible for any state or governing body to force children into any situation that is likely to cause them harm;

Further believing that certain basic protections should be provided to all children;

The World Assembly thus:

(A)Defines a 'minor' as a person below the legal age of majority as defined in their nation.

(B) Bans the employment of minors in:
(1) work in which they are subject to physical or psychological abuse,
(2) work in which they are required to be in physical locations that would be damaging to their health,
(3) work which involves dangerous machinery, dangerous equipment or dangerous tools,
(4) work which involves the manual transport or handling of heavy loads,
(5) work in environments exposing them to temperatures, noise levels, or vibrations damaging to their health,
(6) work in environments that may expose them to hazardous substances, agents and/or processes,
(7) work which would preclude the pursuit of a full-time education, such as work for long hours or work where they are unreasonably confined to the premises of the employer.

(C) Bans the participation of minors in armed conflict.

(D) Bans anyone under the age of consent from engaging in sexually explicit acts as a form of employment.

Ralf Gaertner (Radical) - Aren't our laws already in accordance with this resolution as well?

Speaker Genovese - I believe so. Given that our age of consent is 12, we are not required to pass legislation to outlaw teenage prostitution. "Work that would preclude the pursuit of a full-time education" is already prohibited by the Universal School Vouchers Act. The remaining things prohibited by this resolution are covered under occupational safety legislation. I ask unanimous consent to move on to the next WA resolution.

Speaker Genovese - With no objection, I ask the clerk to read the next WA resolution.

Clerk - Madame Speaker, resolution #5 has been repealed. It had to do with the coordination of relief aid. The 6th WA resolution is entitled Humanitarian Transport and is a "human rights" resolution:

The World Assembly,

CONCERNED about the absence of international standards governing the conduct of nations in international territory,

ACKNOWLEDGING that nations transport basic humanitarian supplies, including doctors and medical supplies as well as prisoners of war and other non-combatants through international territories,

CONCERNED that vessels moving humanitarian supplies or prisoners of war by land, air, sea, or space could also be used to move other cargo used in the conflict at the same time,

DEEPLY DISTURBED at the possibility that parties in a conflict could use prisoners of war or humanitarian supplies as shields for other military activities,

OBSERVING that no international standard has been established to make it easier for nations to identify and recognize other vessels used to transport prisoners, non-combatants, and humanitarian supplies,

1. CONSIDERS items and persons not being used to directly support combat operations, including prisoners of war, doctors and other medical experts, medical supplies, basic food and water supplies, sick and wounded combatants, and civilians to be humanitarian cargoes,

2. DISCOURAGES the practice of transporting humanitarian cargoes in the same vessel(s) or convoy as materials directly supporting combat operations,

3. RECOMMENDS that when possible, that exclusive vessels and convoys be used to transport humanitarian cargoes,

4. CALLS UPON nations to adopt a standard for identifying their humanitarian transports, such as painting the hull of dedicated humanitarian vessels completely white or flagging the vessels with an internationally recognized symbol associated with humanitarian aid,

5. URGES nations to follow this code of conduct and to inform the international community what standards they have adopted to identify their humanitarian transports,

6. DECLARES the right of humanitarian vessels to maintain defensive weapons and to have free and safe passage in international territories by prohibiting nations from firing upon vessels that are only carrying humanitarian cargoes,

7. REQUIRES humanitarian vessels to not initiate hostilities with any other vessel or targets unless first attacked and to not actively support offensive campaigns,

8. AUTHORIZES any national vessel within hailing distance of a humanitarian vessel to request, if there is sufficient cause, the humanitarian vessel to transmit their cargo manifest and prepare for boarding and inspection,

9. FURTHER REQUIRES humanitarian vessels to present a cargo manifest and to submit to the above inspection,

10. MANDATES that any searches conducted on humanitarian vessels must not put those vessels or their passengers or crew in any danger,

11. AUTHORIZES parties searching humanitarian vessels to seize any non-humanitarian cargoes, as defined in clause 1, including items listed on the cargo manifest,

12. PROHIBITS searching vessels from firing upon any humanitarian vessel that has provided its cargo manifest, allowed a search, and surrendered any non-humanitarian cargoes,

13. REQUESTS nations develop separate agreements to strengthen the basic goal protecting humanitarian cargoes,

14. EXPRESSES ITS HOPE that as more nations agree to standards of practice making transporting humanitarian cargoes safer, more nations will provide humanitarian aid.

Ralf Gaertner (Radical) - I fail to see any conflict between this and Federation law.

Cerys Davison (Patriotic) - Only because of pussies like you! In war, we should fire upon any "humanitarian" vessel providing aid to the enemy, for the sake of our own war effort. To do otherwise is lunacy!

Taylor Brongers (Progressive) - What a load of fascist claptrap. Seriously, I can't believe somebody can be so heartless as to advocate firing on humanitarian vessels.

Speaker Genovese - Let's move on, as this resolution is obviously a waste of our time to debate as well.

As of this point, there were 6 resolutions down and 394 more to go...

Beach Corps - Elite Eleven

Postby Drawkland » Wed May 10, 2017 6:01 am

BEACH CORPS

See, Beach Soccer is cool and all, but Drawkland doesn't have a huge presence of the sport. However, when DISC was approached asking to field a team, they decided to call up the Elite Eleven, notable for their recent tirade with the World Baseball Classic, to play in the Cup.

Who are the Elite Eleven? We don't know for sure. But we do know that they're a group of 11 very high-caliber athletes that can play pretty much every sport under the sun. We don't know where they came from, they sorta came from nowhere, but they're definitely celebrities of a sort around here.

Anyway, yeah, the Elite Eleven will be representing the Beach Corps for this 13th edition of the Beach Cup. They can play any position, but this is based on what positions they enjoy playing. They will sub out at leisure, generally exchanging the entire team at halftime. Since there's 11 of them but popular precedent dictates there only be 5 active subs, one of the members will act as the "manager" of the team, which to the "EXI" is rather pointless considering they're all pretty knowledgeable about the sports they play and are generally on the same "wavelength" as far as player strategy goes. But whatever, it works.

Dominic Southers decided to be the manager because he's the largest member of the EXI, and therefore is the least agile (which isn't something you want for a player in a fast-paced sport played on sand). Besides, he likes pretending to seriously yell at everyone even though whatever he says it pointless. Also, he drew the short straw.

First players listed at a position will start the match, while the second players will play after halftime.

BEACH CORPS - BC13

Manager
Dominic Southers

Left Forward Right Forward
Mike Rodney Ross Hunter
Roger Apollo Jaxon Madison

Left Defender Right Defender
Elias Keys Craig Bakker
Trevor Garnet Richard Hanson

Goalkeepers

Now, formation I guess isn't as important in Beach Soccer (to be frank I have no idea how to actually to strategy with this), but I suppose the Elite Eleven Beach Corps uses a 2-2 formation for balance on paper but plays with a definite +4 style mod. They're primarily sporting celebrities, meaning that they go for trick shots and all kinds of fanciness. If they lose, it's probably because the showboated too much or too far and it ended up being their undoing. As athletes, they should win every game. As celebrities, or as a bunch of idiot friends, maybe not so much.

RP Permissions: meh, whatever. You can't kill or injure these guys. I mean, like, you could try, but it wouldn't work. Do whatever else you want, goalscorers, the whole deal. I'd prefer you not redcard anybody, because I don't want to have the roster messed up or whatever. Other than that, go wild.

Team Sarrbia: Beach Cup 13

Because Sarrbia is an archipelago with white-sand beaches accessible to almost everyone, beach soccer is equal in popularity to association football here. The sport is rooted firmly in Sarrbian culture. Sarrbia is one of the nations responsible for bringing beach soccer into international prominence, participating in the very first edition and hosting the second when the sport was still in its infancy (OOC: Puppet of Cosumar).

The Sarrbians hosted Beach Cup II and placed 2nd, and fared well in the 3rd-6th editions too. But after neglecting to send delegations to Beach Cup 8 or 9, their ranking plummeted to near zero. It recovered slightly after a respectable showing in Beach Cup X in Darmen. Sarrbia's mission in Beach Cup XIII is simply to continue to re-establish itself as one of the World's premiere beach soccer nations.

Please note that the Sarrbian squad is mixed male and female. You can find more information on the team below. The top athletes from Sarrbia's domestic beach soccer league were voted on by fans to represent the nation at the 13th Beach Cup. The top clubs in Sarrbia typically field both association football and beach football teams (in opposite seasons). You can find the association football results in Cosumar's domestic newswire.

Basic Information

Manager - Milo Wykti

Assistant Manager - Kaloo Bo

Headquarters - Wypuli, Sarrbia

Colors - Pink, White, Gold

Nickname - Palmettos

Starting V

GK - Cece WAY
Way (29) is a springy talent at goalkeeper from Klyde, Cosumar (dual-citizen). She is quite tall at 6"2 and can cover any corner of the goal in quick bounce. This could be her final Beach Cup as starting goalkeeper as she plans to start having children with her husband Jono after this one. Way plays her club ball for FK Arĝento Monto, one of the most successful beach soccer teams in Sarrbia with a legacy of fine goalkeepers dating back to the likes of Mackenzie Earls.

DF - Gayelord SANDERSON
Sanderson (37) is a one-man wall as the Palmettos' lone defender. He is of a wide, stocky build, but don't let that fool you - he is quite fleet-footed too. Hailing from Sapphire Springs, Sanderson has been a fixture of Sarrbia's national team since Beach Cup 5. The Ageless Wonder is the cousin of former Sarrbian World Cup defender Penelope Draughns. He plays his club ball for Aleta Rozkoton.

MF - Ceara AUGUSTINE
Augustine (33) is the team's playmaker. From Palm Coast, the capital of Sarrbia, she grew up on the beach and knows how the sand plays the ball like the back of her hand. As soon as Sarrbia wins the ball, it finds its way to her feet and she finds the strikers. Every time. Starter since Beach Cup 10. She's still a star and the face of the team, but this might be her last go-round. She covers a lot of ground and sand is hard on the joints. Not everyone can be an ageless wonder like Gayelord. She plays her club ball for FK Voluptamoro.

FW - Franchot SANDHU
Sandhu is only 22, but has already has a tried-and-true reputation as one of the most effective scorers in all of Sarrbia since breaking through as a star for Palmo Marbordo at 19. The Myollo native can knock in a goal from anywhere on the pitch. He is also the quickest mover and highest jumper on the team. His short build and dribbling control also make it difficult for defenders to get the ball off him. Though his athletic and footballing ability is unparalleled, he is sometimes criticized for being lazy and selfish. His production sometimes suffers as a result. He's too valuable for Milo Wykti to bench him, and he knows it. He's also kinda a drug addict and may occasionally show up to a match stoned out of his mind.

FW - Pendola AMICHIA
Amichia (16) is a teen wonder from the small beach-hut village of Urrutiki, ready to make her Beach Cup debut after stunning coaches in an open tryout with her size, strength, composure in front of goal and mental toughness. She already looks like the type who could dominate beach soccer games single-handedly. How will she fare on the international level? She's only 16, but she will bare a heavy responsibility. Her boundless energy will have to make up for the team's aging spine and the occasional unreliability of strike partner Sandhu. In many ways, Sarrbia's success at this Beach Cup (and perhaps many to come) depends on Pendola Amichia. She's also looking into a joint-career playing Association Football too.

Substitutes

GK - Klay MELLANKOLLAN (18)

DF - Harrison BROWN (20)

DF - Andromeda DI PEUR (28)

MF - Okoka BOLSA (22)

MF - Kyo NAKAMURA (31)

FW - Oli OTT (26)

FW - Cassiopeia WINSTON (30)

IMPERIAL NATIONAL TEAM: THE EXPLORERS

The Imperial beach football team is mostly made from players that were rejected from the main national team, and youth players looking to get extra experience. This also serves as a showcase for some promising unattached players who wish to show off their skills to attract clubs. Of course, they won the whole thing last time, so there's some more attention on them right now...

Young Guns, Part Nine

Guildenstern Cardew woke up to find himself in an unfamiliar setting and with a pounding headache.

It took him a few moments to remember what had happened the night before which had sent him to this unfamiliar place with a headache that could very well split his head wide open. As he did that, Guildenstern reached into his pants pocket to retrieve a palm-sized can of vapor rub which he opened and then held up to his nose. The fumes from the ointment, while not really curing him of his headache, did clear away some of the fog and cobwebs in Guildenstern’s mind and allowed him to remember last night with a little more clarity.

He had gone out with the team last night. Exactly which team he went out with, though, Guildenstern couldn’t remember even through the vapor rub fumes. But he definitely went out with a lot of the guys. Most of them were already eighteen and taking advantage of the fact by going out to celebrate in bars, but some of them, like Guildenstern for instance, were still underage, but that didn’t stop Guildenstern from drinking with the other guys as well. And he couldn’t remember why he did that as well. Was it just to fit in with the boys? No, that didn’t seem likely, as Guildenstern fitted in quite well with the boys despite his own secret sexual orientation. Did he drink just because he could? That seemed more plausible. And that also carried the risk that Guildenstern had made a fool of himself somehow when he had gotten drunk and his mind that thoughtfully pushed the memories of that embarrassment into the recesses of his unconscious so that he wouldn’t dwell on it much.

His throat felt dry. Guildenstern closed his can of vapor rub, stood up, and walked to the refrigerator to pour himself a glass of water. But as he held the pitcher, Guildenstern thought that getting a glass and pouring water in it would take him more time than he had so he drank straight from the pitcher, raising the spout to his mouth and letting the water slide down his throat. The cold water cleared up a little more of the fog and cobwebs in his brain and allowed Guildenstern some more time to think about what he had just done and what he was about to do.

One of the benefits of the modern interconnected world of technology and social media was that it allowed people to go back to the past and look at the things that they had done, whether they were alone or with friends. Guildenstern Cardew knew that he had done something completely stupid when he had gotten drunk with the rest of the guys (whom he still wasn’t sure was from his Fhulghamousian club or the Fleftic under-18 team) but he couldn’t remember what it was he had done so he picked up his phone, logged into his social media accounts, and tried to find the moment when he had made an absolute ass of himself.

The first thing he found out was that he had gone out with his fellow academy products from Besanza Emeralds Football Club, but that only told Guildenstern who he had gone out with, not what he had done with them or to them that made him feel so sure that he was quite the drunken fool. Next, he pored over all posts from his friends in which he was tagged, but after over half an hour of searching, he couldn’t find anything on social media that would make him feel totally and completely embarrassed with himself. All of his photos with the rest of the Emeralds boys appeared perfectly normal boys’ night out stuff, so that wasn’t where he had made a fool of himself. But he couldn’t shake the thought that he had embarrassed himself to someone somewhere so he continued his search in other places.

After another half-hour of searching, Guildenstern felt certain that whatever he had done to make a fool of himself, it wasn’t on social media, at least not where he could see it or find it quickly enough. Maybe the club found out about what he did and immediately put a lid on things, like a news blackout, but even then Guildenstern was sure that he’d find at least some evidence of what he did like rumors on the online tabloids. But there was nothing about him on those usually unreliable sites, but just because he couldn’t find it anywhere online doesn’t mean that he didn’t actually do it in some place where no one could really get to it unless Guildenstern was really indiscreet about it.

And then Guildenstern had a sudden thought, and he logged out of social media and went to read his texts instead, and that was where he found out that he had just made quite possibly the most catastrophic mistake of his life, more catastrophic than even getting chipped in the final of the Sporting World Cup against Anglatia.

Not only did Guildenstern send a drunken text to his best friend (and secret crush) Marius Rosenkrantz, he also apparently had a drunken text conversation with the guy.

Guildenstern read the texts he sent Marius, scrolling down breathlessly as he watched his own drunken mess unfold before his own eyes once again. (It had already unfolded before his own eyes before but he was of course too drunk to realize that it was happening and that it was his own doing.) And as Guildenstern scrolled further and further down the conversation screen, he slowly came to realize what exactly it was that he had just done: he had just rather blatantly and callously revealed his own love for his best friend through a series of drunken texts.

“Shit,” Guildenstern muttered under his breath as he scrolled through his texts. “Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. This can’t be happening. No, no, this can’t be happening.” This was definitely not how he wanted to admit his feelings to Marius Rosenkrantz.

But it’s not happening, it’s already happened, an inner voice told Guildenstern. You’ve already sent the texts to Marius, Guildy. All you can hope to do now is damage control and limitation.

Guildenstern took a deep breath and read through the texts again, this time trying to read the whole thing through eyes that had suddenly become sober with the adrenaline jolt that seeing his drunken texts had given him. And as he gave the conversation a more careful and calculated reading, he realized that not all hope was actually lost. Sure, Guildenstern had made a bald-faced admission of love to Marius through a text, but based on Marius’ replies, it was obvious that he knew that Guildenstern was drunk when he made the texts (Marius had asked Guildenstern whether the latter was drunk and Guildy affirmed it without a beat). Nevertheless, Guildenstern couldn’t shake off the feeling that Marius might think that there was more to this than just a simple drunken text.

Guildenstern quickly walked back to the sofa where he had woken up, leaned back on it and sent off another text to Marius. YO MARIUS JUST SAW MY DRUNKEN TEXT 2 U. DID I REALLY TELL U ILY?

Marius’ reply was almost immediate. GM GUILDY. YEAH U DID. HOW WAS LAST NIGHT?

DRUNK AS A FUCKING SKUNK. IGNORE MY TEXT MAN. BEER MAKES ME ROMANTIC.

YEAH, CERTAINLY DID. DON’T BEAT URSELF UP 2 MUCH BOUT IT. SLEEP OFF THAT HANGOVER N WE’LL FORGET ABOUT DIS RIGHT? ILY 2 BRUV.

Guildenstern Cardew didn’t know how to react to that last text. Was Marius just teasing him by sending him back the text that had gotten this whole mess started in the first place? Or was that Marius sending out a hint that maybe perhaps he would like to know more about this new development in their friendship, perhaps even willing to make it into something more? Guildenstern didn’t want to think about it. His head was now once again pounding too hard to let him give some thought to the mixed signals which Marius was sending him.

With a sigh, Guildenstern hauled himself out of the sofa and dragged himself to his bed, where he hoped a good long sleep would finally help clear his mind enough to allow him to think long and hard of the consequences of what had just happened.
Prince William Luckless waited patiently in the bus stop across the street from the apartment building where the mother of his child had gone in to talk with her girlfriend.

Will’s failed attempt to force extra time in the final of the Sporting World Cup had long since been pushed out of his mind by the pressures and difficulties of becoming a teenage father. People were right when they said that teenagers already had enough on their plates that adding the responsibilities of both marriage and parenthood to that mix would usually end only in disaster. Both Will and Prudence Woodward, the girl with whom Will had spent the one fateful night that had led to this whole thing, were determined not to let that happen to them, but of course that was easier said than done. Their parents, after having finally gotten over the shock and disappointment that inevitably washed over parents when their children messed up this badly and come to terms with the fact that Will and Prudence were going to be teenage parents, had finally made them go through the things that expecting parents went through such as counseling, breathing exercises for Prudence for when the big moment finally came, and also a trip to the hospital to watch childbirths in progress from the natural way to the Caesarian method. Prudence wasn’t really a squeamish girl but even her knees shook at the sight of a mother in labor as she knew that that was what she had to expect when the nine months were finally up. Will Luckless just wanted to get out of there ASAP.

Initially, both Will and Prudence thought that there were going to be problems with how they were going to raise the baby together, seeing as Prudence was contracted to a team in the Fhulghamous Peninsula’s Ladies’ Premier League and Will was playing for Duhblakk Rovers (on a two-year loan from Arsenal de Releinthi, which signed Will in the transfer window before the 3rd Sporting World Cup) in faraway Abanhfleft. But then an unexpected solution came in the form of the dissolution of Prudence’s team, Queen Seabees F.C., due to financial insolvency. The Queen Seabees Football Club had been established in 2015 by members of the Seabee Veterans’ Association of the Fhulghamous Peninsula as part of a community-building project to get the daughters and granddaughters of Seabees (members of the Fleftic Navy’s Construction Battalions, a big contributor to the establishment of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony alongside the Army Corps of Engineers) to participate actively in sports. After rapidly rising through the ranks of Fhulghamousian women’s football, Queen Seabees plotted their assault on the Fhulghamousian Ladies’ Premier League title by signing washed-up stars, failed wonderkids, and journeymen on big fat contracts. That assault had ended with Queen Seabees in fourth place in the league, ten points adrift from winners Charalambos Women’s F.C. The plan had backfired in the sense that it had drained the coffers of both the Queen Seabees club and the Seabee Veterans’ Association, and with no one else interested in shouldering the costs and debts of Queen Seabees, the club was disbanded by the Fhulghamous Peninsula Football Association for financial insolvency and its players released from their contracts without compensation.

That appeared to have solved the conundrum of how Will and Prudence were going to live together as Prudence was now free to go to Duhblakk with Will and, once she had given birth to the baby, she hoped that the Blackmen’s women’s side would want to take a chance on her. She was, after all, a teenager with a silver medal from the Sporting World Cup even though she was unable to participate after the group stage due to her unexpected pregnancy. But before both Will and Prudence could go to Duhblakk, Prudence had insisted that they bring along her girlfriend, Poppaea Fleet-Street. Sure, Will was the father of her child, but Prudence also wanted Poppy to be part of the family she was hoping to create (she had dreams of breaking all traditional notions about family, Prudence did after she became with child). Will was honestly not optimistic of the chances that Poppaea would accept Prudence’s offer of starting a family, even a post-modern family like the one Prudence had in mind, with one daddy and two mommies.

It had been thirty minutes since Prudence had gone up to Poppaea’s apartment and by now, Will was growing a little bit impatient. Prudence had promised that this would only take fifteen minutes, twenty tops. She was already ten minutes late according to her own deadline and Will could only imagine what was going on inside Poppaea’s apartment right now. Were they fighting? Of course they were fighting. Their relationship had never been the same since Prudence admitted to the whole world that she was pregnant. Will didn’t know what the two girls had planned for their relationship but he was fairly sure that Prudence getting knocked up by a man—a man!—was not part of that plan.

Finally, Prudence walked out of the apartment building and made her way towards Will. She was wearing a long gray pullover along with an orange coat to disguise the bulge in her belly, but there was no denying that she was with child. For his part, Will couldn’t stop staring at Prudence’s belly. That’s my baby she’s carrying there, he said to himself. My own flesh and blood. We may not have thought about what was going to happen after we did it but there it is anyway.

I never thought I’d say this, but by God, Prudence is beautiful!

Lord, what have I done to deserve a woman like her? And a child from her as well?

“I take it by the sour look on your face that Poppaea doesn’t want to go with us,” Will said once Prudence walked into the bus stop with him.

“For the last time, Will, will you please stop calling her Poppaea?” Prudence said, avoiding Will’s question.

“I will if she stops calling me William. But enough about me; let’s talk about you. Poppy’s not coming with us, is she?”

“No, and I quote, ‘not in a million billion years,’” Prudence said.

“So, does that mean that your post-modern family is not going to happen?”

“Don’t worry about it, Will,” Prudence said. “Poppy’s angry; that’s all. Just let her cool off for a bit. I know Poppy. When she’s angry, she doesn’t want to see the people who made her angry. Maybe Queen Seabees getting dissolved really was a blessing in disguise. But Poppy will come back; just let her cool off. Come on, then, Will,” she said as she grabbed Will’s hand. “Let’s go to Duhblakk.”

“I just want you to know that I’m not so sure about this,” Will said.

“What aren’t you sure about? That we’ll make a good family?”

“No, not that. I’m not sure that Poppaea will want to go back with you now that you seem to have your sights set on me.”

“Like I said, Will, just let Poppy cool off and everything will be fine and dandy once again,” Prudence assured Will. “This will all work out. We’ll get our family together whatever happens.”

“I hope you’re right about that,” Will said. “And everything else as well.”

The Isle Girls

Chapter Seven

Wear Town. That was the next match on the schedule for Imperial Falston, and Wear was quite a worthy opponent for them despite not being too high up in the standings. It was what they called a trap match, and if they weren’t careful, they could see their lead in the Ceynes Premiership slip and they could see some other teams like New Rozelle take advantage of a skid to move up and chase them in the table. Maddie Grisholm was the kind of manager that was never happy with her teams unless they won not just by a slight enough margin to get silverware, but by a lead that was big enough to prove that they were the undisputed best, and so naturally, she hadn’t been happy about the way that her team’s chances had declined.

The word had gotten around quickly that Anna Saint Preux had gotten injured off of the pitch, with the rumors within the team being somewhat accurate, some of her teammates saying that she had gotten into a fight with a friend and others saying that she had been injured while hanging out with some of her more dangerous friends, who were from the East Mob street gang that had plagued Falston with plenty of crimes in recent years. The truth wasn’t either of those things, and fewer players knew that real truth, that it was indeed a fight that had hurt her but that she had been hurt more by an accident than by any blow from an attacker.

“Is it true that you had to spend a bunch of time pulling glass out of your foot?” asked Tomas Spearman, Imperial’s number one central defender and the one that Anna trusted the most to cover for her if she took a risk by coming off of her line. “Or is the other story true? Did you get in a fight with another gang and get shot in the foot?”

“That’s what they’re saying happened?” asked Anna, raising an eyebrow as the players left the bus and headed towards the hotel in Wear, which was really more of a low key motel than some of the actual hotels that they had stayed in when they were in New Rozelle. “It’s not even close to the truth. I wasn’t hanging out with the East Mob when I got hurt and I certainly wasn’t in a gang fight… I wish people would stop judging me because of the tattoos and realize that I’m not really that kind of person-”

“So is the story about the glass true, then? I heard that you got thrown through a glass table and that it’s the reason why your foot is taped up-”

“Who told you that story?”

“Um… Esther did,” Tomas replied, realizing that she didn’t necessarily want everyone to know what happened. “She’s the one that told me that it took a lot of time to get the glass out and that you won’t be able to play until the cuts heal up-”

“How many other people has she told?” Anna asked now, incredulously. “She’s one of my best friends, she should know better than to spill my business to everyone on the team-”

“She didn’t tell everyone, at least I don’t think she did. How’d you end up in a fight, though? Weren’t you hanging out at home like you usually do after practice-”

“You’re forgetting that my roommate is Sophia Fortune. Sophia did what Sophia does and I have to live with the results. I’m not going into details right now,” Anna stated, and with that, she picked up her pace and headed inside the hotel, leaving Tomas and the rest of the team behind and leaving everyone wondering what had been said between the two that caused her to quite visibly storm off. “You want to know so bad, go find her and talk to her,” she added, looking over her shoulder at the others before ducking through the hotel door before it could close and standing at the edge of the lobby while the staff moved to check the group in.

And while she was at the edge of the lobby, Esther Fortune managed to find her and pull her aside, glancing at the others to see who was watching before turning her attention completely back to Sophia. “Sorry,” she muttered. “I didn’t mean to tell everyone everything that’s going on with you, but they wanted some kind of explanation for why the star keeper of the team isn’t even going to suit up for one of the swing matches of this season. I’m sure you got the softer side of Maddie when she talked to you, but she was absolutely livid with me when I told her the full story-”

“Why were you the one telling her the full story? I’m the one that was hurt, and you didn’t even show up until after the fact-”

“But apparently you aren’t reliable enough, because she was convinced that you weren’t telling her the whole thing. And when I explained the full story to her, she was pissed at me even though it wasn’t my fault and she told me that I need to control my sister before you get hurt. Well, before you get hurt more than you already did.”

“She should know that there’s nobody that can control Sophia, except for maybe me. Not your parents, not you, and especially not Maddie or anyone else that’s an authority figure. You don’t control her… No, you decide that she’s worth the risk if you spend time around her, and you acknowledge that she’s not the most stable person,” shrugged Anna. “Maddie is always overly concerned, I’m pretty sure she thinks of me like some personal pet project because she’s the one that discovered me at the trials and the one that pushed to sign me before the other clubs did. Well, let me tell you something. I don’t care how overly protective and concerned she is… I’m not changing my ways, and not changing my company. I have the talent to tell people like her to either take it or leave it when it comes to me and my skills.”

She started to walk away, towards the elevator, before turning to look back at Esther. “And with the way that I’ve been one of the best players here and the best low cost signing of the season, I’m almost one hundred percent sure that she’s going to take my talent along with the concerns. We wouldn’t be in first place if she didn’t.”

Segard

Parahyba. The Fortress of St. Catherine marked the mouth of the river with the same name of the province. The port near the fortress was the biggest of Parahyba, and for that occasion, the port had a ship with Alicean flag. The Sagittarius. The national team of beach soccer was aboard. When the ship arrived, a young man may be seen carefully looking from the docks.

"Back to work, Segard!" the voice of the supervisor reached his ears. Dante Segard was a docker in that port. Son of a Lisanderian father and a Alicean mother, he was happy to have people from his motherland in the Empire, and especially in that city. It could be the opportunity to go back home. The wages in the dock wasn't that good. He lived the last year saving each Real he could to buy a ticket. Unfortunately, the Sagittarius only would stay some days there, only the days of the stay of the Alicean team, before going to Lisander. And the team could even move to Ethane, depending on the results.

"I need to think in a way to reach the team, and maybe they could give me a job, like a kit man or something. Hey, Carvalho, I'll need to finish my day now. Deduct the next hours from my salary. I'll see the guys of my country!"

He left the dock, returned to the small rented apartment, took a quick shower, and returned to the harbor, this time wearing a Newport rugby shirt. He stayed there, waiting for the players to land. He did not wait long, and was soon approached by a young man wearing a travel shirt with a red southern cross. "Excuse me, but are you an Alicean?"

Henessey

"Half-Lisanderian, Half-Alicean. You're one of the team managers? I'm Dante Segard, from Newport! Could you please present me to players?" said the man. Ethan Henessey, captain of AB national team, felt the weight of the world leaving his shoulders. He had a bet with the team. He said he could find a local guide in thirty minutes. Ethan was also a half-lisanderian and find an Alicean-Lisanderian here was a great luck.

"Oh, Thanks, my dear Jah! I'm Ethan Henessey, member of the team. Look, We are in need of a local guide. And I bet with the team I would be able to find one in thirty minutes. And just as I look out of the cabin window, I see a person wearing a Newport jersey! Can I count on you? We'll pay you while you stay with us. You can even go to the games with us. You'll need to travel with us to Rio tomorrow, and do some preparations. Can you act like a Utillero? Oh, no... Utillero is a spanish word... So... have you a wife? Or girlfriend? Some reason to don't accept?"

The eyes of the man glazed with the invitation. "We have a deal! Of course it would be great to work with people from homeland!"

"Ok, so please find us a tourism bus! I'll finish the preparations." Ethan looked for two seconds in the eyes of the man. His face turned from happy to shocked. He was clearly thinking in where to find a bus. Ethan reached his wallet and gave him some money, enough to pay the transport. "We'll stay at Hotel Globo, in Downtown, but just for today, since we need to left to Rio tonight."

The man was about to left and search the bus, when he throw him the bag. "You'll need this. Team apparel, rules of the federation."

The man picked up the bag and opened. Inside, a pair of the new jerseys, and some more apparel, like track pants, polo shirts and a cap.

NOTE: The story of Segard as team guide starts in Parahyba, city and capital of one of the 2nd Brazilian Empire provinces.
After this day, they will be flying to another city (allegedly Rio, the Imperial Capital) to play the games of first round.

Mattijana Roster And Team Information

Beach Football in Mattijana:

Beach Football (StrandFusbal in Mattijanan) is not the most commonly played game in Mattijana, but is extensively enjoyed as a pastime by many who live around the South Coast and its surrounding islands of Antalja, Kirka and Baska, as well as by some on the beautiful, but more rugged West coast. The country has two leagues, the biggest based in the South and a smaller one based in the West. Neither league is fully professional with prize money and ticket sales the main sources of income for clubs. Players at bigger clubs receive a cut of this, but virtually all the players are in it for the love of the sport, exercise and the often beautiful coastal settings they regularly visit.

About the Team:

Nicknames: Strandbaleran, Di Koolband.
Colours: Green and yellow, similar to all other Mattijanan colours including those on the flag.
Away kit is black with dark blue trim.
Style: +1

The Mattijanan team itself will feature in its second International Beach Football matches, following an impressive debut performance in Beach Cup 12, and contains only one professional footballer, Jessika Struna, who played beach football throughout her youth before being picked up by the academy of FK Revinka, a division 1 association football side who have one of the best youth sections in the country. The rest of the team will be made up of amateurs and semi-professionals from the Mattijanan beach leagues.

Head Coach: Danil Jamada-SK Kirka.

The StrandKlub Kirka coach was picked especially for the first tournament by a branch of the Mattijanan Fusbalbandan after making consistent progress with a Kirka team that has been around the sharp end of the Southern beach league for the last 5 years. He returns following a first tournament that was regarded as a huge success and will be looking to take Mattijana right to the sharp end of the tournament.

Assistant Coach: Dominik Savlanic-SK Revinka.

Picked by Jamada, Savlanic is an experienced assistant at the biggest Beach Football club in Mattijana, SK Revinka. He has also overseen the selection process and will deal with many of the administrational and communicative roles, freeing up Jamada to work on team tactics.

Fitness Coach: Dr Julia Kasmiric.

An experienced Doctor and Physiotherapist around the Revinka area, Kasmiric knows the rigorous fitness requirements needed in beach football as well as the types of injuries that are most commonly picked up whilst playing the game. She has worked on building the fitness levels of all players in preparation for the tournament by using a range of activities and exercises taking place only on sandy surfaces, and has worked particularly closely with Jessika Struna, having made a return to competitive beach football after 7 years away from the sport with Revinka and the Mattijanan Association Football team.

Starting Lineup:

GK: Karina Handanovic-SK Antalja-#1

A springy goalkeeper capable of producing the extra energy required when playing on a high-absorbtion surface, Handanovic has been in solid form ahead of the beach cup. The 28 year old has been allowed time off from her normal job as a transport engineer to train and compete for her country.

CB-Lorenzo Hojbjerg-SK Nordstrandt-#2

The only player in the Western league to start for Mattijana, Lorenzo is the cousin of Mattijanan World Cup goalscorer Marko Hojbjerg and is an intimidating presence well-suited to the physical and elemental demands of the western league. Saying that, the 26 year old can also play the ball forward well and forms the base of the diamond formation existing in front of the goalkeeper.

RW-Jessika Struna-FK Revinka-#3

The 24 year-old winger is a star of both the beach and association teams and is without a doubt the most high profile player in the squad. She returns to Beach Football for the second successive year and will be looking to score more important goals for Mattijana in their bid for victory. She has a game well suited to beach football, with blistering pace and good dribbling skills.

LW-Matej Krkic-SK Kirka-#4

The 21 year old grew up on the island of Kirka before moving to study Association Football at the Pulnik Sports Academy near Puljanka. He found that his main passion was for Beach football however and he returned to the South, studying medicine at Revinka university whilst playing for Kirka, Danil Jamada's team. He offers more quick running play as well as some skilful moves, but as a young player suffers from a lack of consistency.

FW-Tomas Julenki-SK Kranja-#5

The star player of Kranja, the second team based on the island of Antalja, Julenki is a strong and fit player perfectly adapted for Danil Jamada's fast and counter-attacking style. The 25 year old works in a seaside café/restaurant by day and will want to serve up some goals if Mattijana are to progress to the knockout stages.

The Bench:

Mattijana has made use of the unlimited subs rule implemented in beach football to provide a range of both solid replacements and mercurial game-changers for their matches.

GK-Kevin Cirilo-age 22-SK Revinka-#6
GK-Samir Vastic-age 33-SK Devras-#11
Def-Sophia Dragovic-age 24-SK Revinka-#7
Def-Martin Karamov-age 19-FK DevrasMeer-#12
LW-Dominik Julenic-age 23-SK Antalja-#8
LW-Katarina Ostvasser-age 26-SK Nordstandt-#13
RW-Mattias Propkovic-age 27-SK Kranja-#9
RW-Jasmina Illicic-age 20-SK Kirka-#14
FW-Emeli Kovinj-age 22-SK Revinka-#10
FW-Samira Karinica-age 28-SK Kirka-#15

Gregoryisgodistani striker fires past Dan Valeri to extend his side's lead in a convincing win

There's a lot of minor problems with a beach holiday abroad. Feeling the sand between your toes at the beach (and then everywhere else). Gg. Falling asleep in a t-shirt and shades, forgetting the sunscreen and coming home looking like two-thirds of a neapolitan ice-cream. And now watching the Kiaser Colonies ship 8 goals in a beach soccer World Cup game. Ouch. In truth, this isn't as bad as first inspection would indicate. This is the Gull's first outing at the beach soccer world cup, a fledgling sport in the Colonies despite the wealth of prime beach locations. Plus the opponents don't come much tougher than those they faced in Gregoryisgodistan. The opposition are currently ranked 4th in the world, making them the strongest team in group A. In truth, the Kiaser Colonies played about as well as could be expected under the circumstances. There were even moments of sustained good play. Most notably during the 3rd quarter when they scored 2 consecutive goals and limited the opposition to 3 shots on target. One of which was a goal.

The first quarter was one that was totally dominated by the opponents. Inside a minute of play Gregoryisgodistan had scored, and another 2 minutes later they had doubled their advantage thanks to a fantastic solo effort from their striker to beat Grand and Risdon in defence as well as Valeri in goals. Midway through the third, a string of good passes and some creative genius from captain Malcom Ninkovic lead to the Kiaser Colonies first goal. A move that worked from a goal kick, involving each player lead to Oar drawing the defence to the far post as a decoy for a lurking Ninkovic. The aerial ball from Rhyan Grand had the captain one on one with his back to a keeper waiting for a collection, turn and shot. But Ninkovic cut straight to the final step, some how back-heeling the ball on the volley through the keepers legs. The magic touch had Kiaser's in the crowd believing in the Gulls ability, but was to remain one of their few genuine highlights of the match. Before the break Gregoryisgodistan added 3 more goals in a scarily dominant display to take a commanding 5-1 lead to the sheds.

The second quarter brought with it a new resolute defence from the Gulls. Veteran vice-captain Tobias Dundridge looked lively for a 35 year old, making several good blocks and tackles in defence, while also completing every pass he attempted. Meanwhile young-gun Sammy Gurrumul also had a big impact off the bench in attack, getting on the score sheet with an assist from Oar. This was closely followed by a score of Oar's own after more good work in the midfield by Ninkovic lead to the forward side footing into the top right corner. At 5-3 and the break only 4 minutes away, an upset was beginning to look like a possibility again. However the starting Gregoryisgodistan defender had other ideas as he bolted a long range effort past Valeri to push the Gulls back to arms length.

An uneventful final quarter saw the Gregoryisgodistanis add another 2 to their tally, while dominating possession. And it could have been more if not for some good goal keeping from Valeri. In the final second of the match with the opposition taking the foot off the gas a little, Ninkovic showed another touch of flair to nutmeg a defender before cool sliding the ball across to Oar. With the keeper out of the equation Oar tapped home the consolation goal to give the scoreboard a slightly better complexion. The final result, a round high 4 goal defeat. 8-4 to Gregoryisgodistan. Overall, not a dire start to the campaign. But an improvement will be needed for the remaining games.

Player Ratings:
Daniel Valeri - 5 - Made several good saves under fire. Conceded 8 goals however, some of which were avoidable.

James Risdon - 3 - Was unable to deal with the calibre of the oppositions attack as they ran rings around him at the start and end of the 1st third. Minor improvement in the dying minutes.

Rhyan Grand - 5 - Had a tough time trying to help Risdon in defence, but produced useful passes at times, and greatly improved in the second third.

Malcom Ninkovic (Capt.) 7.5 - Had a genuinely good game by any standard. Worked magic with his feet to get 2 assists and a goal of the tournament contender.

Robert Oar - 5.5 - In a game of few chances, 2 goals could be considered a good haul. Failed to really test the keeper with some shots however.

Greg Holden - N/A - Only played the final 3 minutes.

Tobias Dundridge (V.Capt) - 6 - A strong performance to shut out the high ranking opposition for 8 minutes. Less impressive from then on.

Kostas Salpagtidis - N/A - Had sparingly little game time at the end.

Sammy Gurrumul - 4.5 - came up with a goal as an impact sub in the second third, but had precious little impact otherwise in a tough debut.

Alex Carney - 3 - The youngest member of the squad looked out of his depth in midfield in the final third. Can only hope his confidence survives the harsh opening.

Tom Boult - 4 - Possibly unlucky not to be on the score sheet due to some impressive goalkeeping and the intervention of the woodwork.

Predicted Line-Up for Game 2
GK: D. Valeri
DF: T. Dundridge

Federation Assembly Arena, Republica, Free Republics

As ACH continued its work, news broke of the passage of the 401st WA resolution. However, ACH resolved to continue considering resolutions in the order passed. After a short recess, Speaker Genovese called the Committee back to order.

Speaker Genovese - I now call the Assembly Committee for Harmonization back into order.

The speaker smashed her gavel against the table.

Speaker Genovese - Clerk, please read the next WA resolution.

Clerk - Madame Speaker, the next resolution is entitled Workplace Safety Standards Act and is considered a significant human rights resolution.

Believing that employees have the right to safe working conditions while at their workplace;

Understanding that a unified standard by which to measure workplace safety may lead to a reduction of workplace accidents, reduce health care costs, and help save lives;

The World Assembly, hereby:

1) Defines, as pertaining to this resolution:
A) An employee as any individual who performs a task or tasks for compensation that is not self employed, employed in law enforcement, or in the military.
B) A workplace as any location where an employee completes a task or tasks for compensation.

2) Guarantees the right of all employees to a safe working environment.

3) Requires that all chemicals be properly labeled, and that safety information be easily accessible in all workplaces pertaining to the chemical that include but are not limited to:
A) Physical data
B) Toxicity
C) Health effects
D) First aid instructions
E) Reactivity
F) Storage
G) Disposal
H) Protective equipment
I) Spill handling procedures
J) Flammability
K) Radioactivity

4) Requires that all workplaces establish minimum standards for Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) to ensure the safety of employees with full understanding of the hazards and environments employees may face.

5) Requires that all employees be provided with or provide their own PPE and that they be required to use them.

6) Requires that the workplace be reasonably free of safety hazards, that all equipment and tools can be safely operated, and that the workplace be maintained in such a state as long as employees are present.

7) Requires that all employees be trained to safely handle any hazardous materials they are required to work with or near.

8) Requires that proper training for tool, machine, and motorized vehicle operation be provided when employees are required to use them in the course of their work.

9) Requires a reasonable amount of emergency exits be provided that allow all employees to leave the workplace quickly.

10) Requires that emergency exits be kept accessible and clearly marked.

11) Requires that employees not enter or remain at a workplace when their ability to work safely is impaired to the point of endangering themselves or those around them.

12) Requires that all employees refrain from purposefully neglecting safety precautions in workplaces.

13) Requires that each nation ensure that within it there exist at least one adequately funded governmental body that inspects work sites and ensures compliance with this act throughout its territory.

14) Accepts that nothing in this resolution bars more stringent workplace safety standards.

Speaker Genovese - Well, this is already law so let's move on.

Clerk - The next resolution is entitled World Assembly Headquarters and is a political stability resolution.

The speaker spoke up.

Speaker Genovese - Please skip this unless there's something important in it.

Clerk - Understand, Madame Speaker. Let's move on to resolution #9, Prevention Of Torture, which is a strong human rights resolution.

The World Assembly,

Recognising the universal right to freedom from cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment,

Deeming torture to constitute such treatment,

Consequently moving quickly to enact strong prohibitions on torture within international law,

Declares:

1. ‘Torture’ is defined as an act of intentionally inflicting pain, severe discomfort or suffering on a person for the purposes of intimidation, coercion, personal punishment or interrogation, or to extract information, confession or concession to demands from them or any other person, where committed with the approval or assistance of a government official or person acting in such capacity.

2. Such acts include, but are not limited to:
-Physical, sexual, or psychological abuse,
-Forced maintenance of physically uncomfortable positions, such as stress positions or forced standing,
-Sensory deprivation, such as prolonged confinement to dark quarters and or use of a hood during interrogation,
-Subjection to intrusive noise, such as noise that is continuous or excessively loud,
-Sleep deprivation,
-Deprivation of adequate food and drink,
-Denial of necessary medical care,
-Denial of right to religious observance,
-Attempts to reduce physical or mental capacity, even where not causing pain or severe discomfort or suffering.

3. Torture is designated a crime against humanity, and its commission, including assistance in such commission or threats thereof, is to be designated a heinous crime under national and international law.

4. No member nation may enact or provide assistance towards the extradition, rendition, deportation, exile or other refoulement of a person to a jurisdiction where there is probable cause to believe they would be subjected to torture.

5. Member nations shall prohibit torture and attempts to commit torture, and shall treat such acts as criminal offences, including legal penalties reflecting the severity of such crimes.

6. Member nations shall take effective action to prevent acts of torture within their jurisdiction.

7. Member nations may not invoke extraordinary circumstances, such as armed conflict, state of emergency or civil unrest, to justify acts of torture.

8. An order to commit torture is a manifestly illegal order, and must be refused; such orders may be disobeyed without fear of legal penalty. Coercion may be considered as a mitigating circumstance in the prosecution of acts of torture committed by subordinates following orders.

9. The training of military and law enforcement personnel, those responsible for those held in detention, and any other persons having responsibility for persons facing interrogation, criminal investigation or detention shall include instruction on the obligation not to perform torture.

10. Any person making an accusation of torture within any member nation’s jurisdiction has the right to impartial investigation thereof.

11. If there is an accusation or probable cause exists to believe that an act of torture has been committed, the competent authorities will proceed properly and immediately to conduct an investigation into the case, and to initiate the corresponding criminal process.

12. Victims of torture have the right to suitable compensation, including the coverage of all medical expenses incurred as a result of torture.

13. Evidence obtained by torture shall be inadmissible in legal proceedings, except as evidence against persons accused of having obtained it by torture.

Cerys Davison (Patriotic) - So how are we going to get around this legislation?

Jesper Paulsen (Moderate Liberal Conservative) - Well, my understanding is that WA resolutions only apply to Federation law, not Republic law.

Bernard Bizier (Salvation Circle) - I'm all for granting prisoners the right to practice their faith.

Cerys Davison (Patriotic) - Well, of course, you'd be, Mr. Bizier.

Bernard Bizier (Salvation Circle) - What is that supposed to mean?

Cerys Davison (Patriotic) - Whatever you want it to.

Ralf Neustadt (Reactionary) - The legislation does not prohibit us from utilizing "ordinary" circumstances to justify the use of so-called "torture".

Jesper Paulsen (Moderate Liberal Conservative) - Well, we have to, at the very least, prohibit use of torture for interrogation.

Cerys Davison (Patriotic) - I think you're right. Well, the use of physical punishment as part of interrogations doesn't work anyway. People will say anything you want them to say.

Speaker Genovese - Ladies and gentlemen, I remind you that the purpose of this committee is to bring us into compliance with WA resolutions, not to come up with creative ways to violate them where convenient.

The Speaker winked, as she spoke those words.

Jesper Paulsen (Moderate Liberal Conservative) - Very well. Let's ban what the WA calls torture under extraordinary circumstances and make evidence obtained using any of the methods listed inadmissible in courts. As for enforcement, well we'll create an agency with no employees and no budget that will have the responsibility for preventing torture.

Monique Cartier (Progressive) - I can't believe what you're talking about. Have all of you lost your minds?

Speaker Genovese - Ms. Cartier, debate in this committee is supposed to be civil. Watch your tone. Besides, let me remind you that torturing terrorists is an important tool that we need to protect our national security.

Leonid Alekseyeva (Salvation Circle) - The Salvation Circle is willing to support the legislation so long as you are willing to attach the Securing Religious Liberty for Prisoners Act to it.

Speaker Genovese - I guess we need your votes, so you have a deal. Page, be sure to write these recommendations down and fax them to the Legislation Drafting Office A-SAP.

The Speaker was well aware that the Radicals and the Liberty Party would probably join the left in trying to block the bill and fight for a stronger torture ban, so she needed the support of the Salvation Circle, whether she liked it or not.

Page - Yes, Madame Speaker.

Speaker Genovese - Let's move on. Clerk, please read the next resolution.

Clerk - Yes, Madame Speaker. The 10th WA resolution is called the Nuclear Arms Possession Act and it is a mild international security resolution.

REALIZING that WA members are outnumbered by non members by about 3 to 1,

ACKNOWLEDGING the fact that only WA members are required to comply with WA resolutions,

NOTICING the fact that many non member nations are hostile towards WA members,

REALIZING that the WA members need to be able to defend themselves if attacked,

1. DECLARES that WA members are allowed to possess nuclear weapons to defend themselves from hostile nations,

2. PRESERVES the right for individual nations to decide if they want to possess nuclear weapons,

3. REQUIRES that any nation choosing to possess nuclear weapons take every available precaution to ensure that their weapons do not fall into the wrong hands.

Speaker Genovese - Well, we possess nukes and we're already following this. Next!

Clerk - Well, the 11th resolution passed by the WA was a repeal of Right to A Fair Trial. The 12th resolution, Prevention of Terrorism, has been repealed. The 13th resolution, Fair Criminal Trial, has also been repealed. #14 (Neutrality of Nations) has been repealed as well. They've also repealed a Freedom of Marriage resolution and a Sexual Privacy Act. The 17th resolution is entitled WA General Fund and is a "Furtherment of Democracy" resolution.

This Assembly,

Committed to providing for a stable, reliable source of funding for the World Assembly and its operations;

Convinced, however, that a program of solicited donations from national and private benefactors would serve the WA's purpose much greater than a coerced taxation scheme;

Disappointed by the previous practice of continually establishing programs and imposing mandates upon member states without stipulating how they will be funded;

Concerned by the possibility of corruption and wasteful spending, and determined to prevent such practices in the establishment of WA funding,

1. Declares that the World Assembly shall be funded by donations from member states; the WA will not levy taxes directly upon the citizens or residents of any nation;

2. Establishes the WA General Fund, which shall be the central source for the funding of WA operations, and the monies from which shall be spent only on maintaining the administration of the WA and missions established by a vote of the World Assembly;

3. Establishes the WA General Accounting Office (GAO), to collect donations to the General Fund, calculate available and projected funds for each fiscal year, publish an annual budget for the World Assembly, and certify that all appropriations therein are disbursed and utilized in a responsible manner;

4. Provides that national donations to the General Fund shall be assessed annually by the GAO, according to donors' national wealth and ability to give;

5. Further provides that annual surpluses in the WA budget shall be returned to national donors, in equal proportion to the amount of their contribution;

6. Further instructs the GAO to submit to regular audits from outside agencies;

7. Forbids the WA from engaging in deficit spending; and,

Recognizing that donations given to the World Assembly by member nations are likely to originate from public funds,

8. Affirms the right of member nations to maintain full authority over domestic taxation policies, barring those that may include unfair discriminatory practices;

9. Strongly encourages member states to provide for an appropriate degree of public accountability and transparency in decisions made regarding budgets and taxation.

Speaker Genovese - We're not going to be giving a pennie to the WA. Thank God this resolution forbids the WA from levying taxes.

Clerk - The next resolution is entitled The Prisoners Of War Accord and is a mild human rights resolution.

REALISING that conflict is ongoing & unavoidable

BELIEVING that personnel of an enemy’s armed forces captured during hostilities should be treated with respect and not be subject to human rights violations

DEFINES a "Prisoner of War", henceforth “PoW”, as a member of a belligerent armed force, excluding diplomats, found in uniform or where there is other good reason to believe he or she belongs to an opposing armed force, who has been apprehended by an opposing nation

DEFINES a "civilian internee" as a civilian national of a belligerent nation present and held in an opposing belligerent nation at the outbreak of hostilities against whom no reasonable suspicion of espionage, sabotage, subversion or other criminal charges exists. The right to intern or not such persons remains the privilege of the nation in question

DEFINES a "military internee" as a member of a belligerent armed force of either hostile powers found present and held in a neutral or non-belligerent nation. This excludes escaped PoWs who have made their way to non-belligerent nations

MANDATES that all PoWs and civilian and military internees, be they held in camps or otherwise, are to be supplied, free of charge, with the following, without unreasonable discrimination:
a) Shelter, fully nutritional food, washing facilities, water, & competent medical attention
b) Replacement uniforms and/or clothing. In the case of PoWs, such uniform is to reasonably resemble the uniform with relevant insignia he is entitled to in his own force, and bear no markings to distinguish the wearer as a PoW
c) Methods by which they may contact and be contacted by relatives & friends in their homeland, although the detaining nation may censor such correspondence if desired;
d) Protection against intimidation, humiliation, insults & physical attack
e) Other facilities as a nation may deemed necessary or desirable.

PROHIBITS PoWs, and civilian & military internees, from being subject to physical or mental interrogation, coercion, medical procedures not required to ensure such person's health, killed (including the killing of unapprehended hostile troops who have surrendered), and other such violations of human rights
a) Force may be used only in cases where the person in question is resisting apprehension, following reasonable warnings that such force is to be used. Detaining nation's forces are further permitted to search and remove any weapons and other contraband
b) PoWs may be questioned to establish their name, rank, number (be it regimental, unit, service or commissioning), and pertinent medical and religious information not of military importance. Such information is to be freely given by PoWs
c) Detaining nations are permitted to use PoWs as a labour force. Such labour cannot, however, be used in industries involved either directly or indirectly in the furthering of the detaining nation's war aims. Detaining nations may not use commissioned PoWs for manual labour. Internees are not to be used as a labour force without their consent

PERMITS nations to engage in repatriation of civilian internees, PoW exchanges, or conditional repatriation of either
a) Civilian and military internees may be left at liberty, military internees under the condition that they do not attempt to leave the country in which they are currently present
b) Escaped PoWs of any belligerent force who make their way to a non belligerent nation are to repatriated

Speaker Genovese - This doesn't conflict with our existing laws. Next.

Clerk - The WA has repealed the Child Protection Act. The next resolution is #20, known as Suppress International Piracy

Casper Ronneberg (Pirate) - What the actual fuck?

Speaker Genovese - Mr. Ronneberg, please refrain from interrupting the clerk while he is reading resolutions. You may speak once the Clerk has finished reading the legislation.

Clerk - Thank you, Madame Speaker.

The World Assembly,

Believing that people should be able to go about their lawful affairs without having to worry about theft, assault or murder,

Recognising that dealing with crimes that occur completely within specific nations and that only affect those own nations’ peoples is a matter for those nations’ own governments,

Believing, however, that any crimes that interfere with international trade and travel and/or that cross national boundaries are matters in which the WA has a legitimate interest,

1. Defines the term ‘Pirates’, for the purpose of this resolution, as meaning people who are not formally recognised agents of any government (although some of them may have informal links to governments, from whom they receive support in exchange for various considerations, or may be at least partly motivated by loyalty to a cause), unlike ‘Privateers’, and who operate in groups to use threats and force to seize vehicles and their cargos — and possibly their passengers, and/or crew, as well — for personal gain, and who may also use ships or other vehicles as transportation for raids against settlements,

2. Defines pirates as 'international pirates’ if they operate across national borders and/or attack international trade,

3. Requires that all WA member nations refrain from giving any international pirates safe haven, or markets for their plunder, or any other support for their operations;

4. Requires all WA member nations to do as much as they reasonably can to suppress international piracy within their own territories;

5. Urges and authorises all WA member nations to do as much as they reasonably can to suppress international piracy within any areas (such as ‘international waters’) that are not under any nation’s effective control, and its bases wherever those are;

6. Requires all WA member nations to treat all offences committed during acts of international piracy that occurred outside of their own territories at least as seriously, as they would treat any comparable crimes committed within those territories and against their own people, if the alleged perpetrators fall into their hands, and authorises them to try people for piratical crimes committed elsewhere;

7. Declares that anybody who is accused of having served knowingly as crew aboard any vehicle being used by international pirates, but who can not be linked to any specific offences, shall be subject to appropriate charges of criminal conspiracy and ‘accessory before the fact’; and that proof of that service shall constitute adequate proof for conviction on those charges, unless they prove that they were forced into that crew on pain of death and served only as a non-combatant in which case courts may be allowed to acquit them;

8. Defines the knowing provision of unforced support for international pirates to be an act of conspiracy to commit those pirates’ crimes, and requires all WA member nations to treat such acts as they would conspiracy to commit any other crimes of comparable seriousness, unless that support is
A/ given only to captive pirates, and within the limits of help that can legally be given to prisoners in general, or
B/ given only to ex-pirates, with whom the legal system has already dealt, and is to help them live honest lives;

9. Strongly urges all WA member nations to act at least as thoroughly against any pirates who operate solely within their own territories as they do against international pirates.

Casper Ronneberg (Pirate) - Oh, so its a resolution about the other kind of piracy. Nothing controversial, I imagine.

Speaker Genovese - Fortunately, this legislation does not do anything to outlaw Letters of Marque and Reprisal. We shall move on, matey, lest ye want to walk the plank.

Clerk - The WA has repealed its "Living Age Act". Oops, I meant "Living Wage Act". The next resolution is entitled Diplomat Protection Act.

Speaker Genovese - Is there anything remotely controversial in it?

Clerk - Do we "send diplomats with the express intent of committing crimes of espionage, sabotage, subversion, causing harm to the civilian population, and other related crimes committed outside of a diplomats duties"?

Speaker Genovese - Of course not. Next resolution.

Clerk - Resolution #23 is entitled Ban On Slavery And Trafficking and is a strong human rights resolution.

The World Assembly,

Considering slavery, forced labour and human trafficking to be violations of basic human rights,

Declares:

1. Holding under the law any person to be the possession, property, or chattel of any other person or any legal entity, or binding any person to an employer by a contract to which they have not consented, shall be considered 'slavery' and immediately prohibited in all nations;

2. Requiring any person to work, enter a work contract, or conform to terms of employment, which they have not freely agreed themselves or through a person they have freely appointed to represent them, through such means as abduction, coercion, deception, destitution, or fraud, or threats of such, to themselves or their families, including such acts as violence or criminal damage, or unlawful detention or eviction, shall be considered 'forced labour' and immediately prohibited in all nations;

3. The definition of 'forced labour' excludes:
- conscription or alternative required national service;
- prison labour or community service given as sentence in the course of a fair trial;
- required service of wartime prisoners of war and internees, in accordance with international law;
- required national emergency service;
- normal civic duties;

4. Forcing or inducing the transfer of any person against their freely given will, or assisting or financing such actions, through similar forms of coercion, for the purposes of exploitation, such as slavery or forced labour, or situations approximating to such, sexual exploitation, or unauthorised medical procedures, shall be considered 'human trafficking' and immediately prohibited in all nations;

5. Such conditions shall be collectively referred to as 'servitude';

6. All persons under condition of servitude shall be immediately freed and all contracts or conditions enforcing servitude voided;

7. Persons fleeing servitude shall be accorded refugee status, and refoulement to nations where they would be returned to such conditions or punished for escaping them prohibited;

8. Reasonable action must be taken to prevent reprisals against such persons, including the passage and enforcement of laws to criminalise such;

9. Discrimination in civil, social, economic, legal and political rights, protection under law, access to public services, travel permission and any other rights afforded by national and international law based solely on prior condition of servitude shall be prohibited, excepting any positive actions taken at the national or more local level to assist with rehabilitation, such as priority access to sheltered accommodation;

10. Goods produced, in whole or in part, through servitude shall be permanently embargoed, and all investment and material support to nations, legal entities and persons practicing servitude immediately ended, except as transition assistance or compensated manumission to free people from such conditions;

11. Nations shall take part in a concerted diplomatic effort to end servitude, and to prevent areas having abandoned such from returning to such practices;

12. Nations shall apply due scrutiny to such institutions as industries employing significant proportions of migrant workers, legal or commercial sex industries, industries employing minors, and their national organ donation systems, to identify catalysts to human trafficking, and to work, where necessary in concert with others, to eliminate such.

Speaker Genovese - Nothing to discuss here. The Constitution prohibits us from refusing imports from any nation and we don't practice slavery.

Free Republics defeat Drawkland 8-4 in Beach Cup 13 opener
by: Angelina Zito

Connie Chase and Koby Theodore scored 3 goals apiece as Massimiliano Abdullahi's Beach Cup squad made up of former National Soccer Team, LLC players defeated the Drawks 8 to 4 in their Beach Cup opener. Honestly, I never thought I'd type that last sentence but, yes, the Republican National Team that nearly won the World Cup 10 years ago is back together on the reunion tour you never thought you'd see. Early on, the Drawks scored the first three goals as Mike Rodney, Ross Hunter and Roger Apollo got them a big early lead. However, the former Trojana Condoms star, who recently made her New Republican Wrestling Conglomerate debut by defeating Lucia Bolton in a 4 star match live on national television, led the Republicans back into the match with two spectacular goals. Moments before the end of the first period, Thomas Donahue launched an equalizer from the other side of the pitch, which actually found the back of the net by some fluke. The score was tied at 3.

In the second half, the floodgates opened as Koby Theodore regained his former all-multiverse form and completely took over the match. After he scored 3 goals in quick succession and assisted Connie Chase with another, the FFR led 7 to 3 after two periods. Sachiya Inoue scored the 8th Republican goal early in the third. The Drawks would add a meaningless goal to make the final margin 8 to 4. The FFR will face Islana Lunigo, Alice Bay and Goluta in their remaining group matches. As of right now, their schedule is unknown. The new rule from last cycle permitting draws in the group stage remains in effect, but did not come into play on the first matchday.

Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.

Segard

He was in the Beach Arena, watching the game between hundreds of Brazilians, some Aliceans and some people from Islana Lunigo. The scoreboard was indicating 3-3 when the referee stopped the game after a hard hit. Anthony Kidd hit the goal post while diving to score a goal, and was unconsciously laid on the ground. Following that, he was called to the bench.

"Segard, please go with Miss Canterbury to the hospital. Kidd awake, but he will need some medical care."

"Right. I'll call the organisation ambulance."

Soon, Anthony Kidd was in a local hospital, doing a tomography. The team arrived some hours later.

"We lost. But we are happy that you are fine, Kidd. What the doctor have said?"

"I'm not sure, but something like a shake in my brains, and I can't play for the next three weeks."

"Uh-oh. This is a problem. What the hell are we going to do?" Verlaine asked.

"I don't know... We need a substitution... Well. Mr Segard, have you ever played beach football?"

Segard looked at the coach. It would be a great opportunity, and he could even manage some money to return home. But he doesn't wanted to look desperate for the money.

"Well, coach. I've played some with dock friends back in Parahyba. I was in the U-20 team of Newport Rugby before starting my travel around the world. I'm not sure I can be great help. But if I can help, count on me."

"Okay, we have a new #8, then. Please hand your documents to my daughter. She'll deal with the affairs of registration."

"Passport, National ID card and if you still have, your register in the Newport Rugby Union. Please give me this before tonight." The sweet voice of Margaret Canterbury echoed in his ears. That was definitely better than the work as a docker.
